An amazing neighborhood gem just a few blocks away! We've been walking by Bodega Sur almost everyday for 6 months and been wanting to experience this Argentinian local favorite. Valentine's Day felt like a good opportunity. The ribeye and Brazilian cut dishes were prepared to perfection with rich flavors and cooked to our taste. We were pleasantly surprised with the slow roasted octopus dish called Pulpo. One special feature here are the wines for sale. Aside from a selection of wines by the glass, all wine bottles are displayed within a bookcase-like wall. You can walk right up to it and explore a potential wine bottle for purchase which you can enjoy at your table:) Juan, our server was amazing...very professional and friendly. The lighting is dim and it's a cozy place with a lively atmosphere. There's a bar and also I think a wine tasting bar as well. I'll probably do some wine tasting on my next visit. Check out Bodega Sur!

We came here on a Sunday afternoon following a show at the lovely Music Box Theatre and the place was packed. Bodega Sur has some unique and cocktails as well as traditional Margaritas, Sangrias and beers, served in beautiful glasses. I loved the Sunday brunch menu and shareable appetizers like a hand crafted charcuterie board or several choices of empanadas. The sweet beef empanadas were a savory blend of beef and sauces in a crispy, flaky shell. The ham and cheese was really good and very cheesy. We left satisfied but not feeling ridiculously full. Sit at the bar for some fun conversation with the fabulous bar tenders and staff. I also like the decor and use of hand painted tequila bottles with candles. There's a lot to see, hear, taste and appreciate at Bodega Sur.

Really solid food, decent service, expected price. Not much else to say. Would be back for brunch.

Great service and tasty food! We popped in here for a weeknight dinner and it didn't disappoint. We a plate of different Argentinian steaks, it same with a tomato salad, soft bread, and sauces. My goodness this was so good! It was just 2 of us so we took what we didn't eat home and it was still great the next day!

The food is delicious and the service is very good. The breakfast burrito is one of the best that I've had. It is a nice place but a bit tight with a lot of tables squeezed in there. There is an outdoor space which is nice in the summer. I recommend this spot for a weekend brunch but it is a bit pricey.

So glad I finally tried this place! It's very charming inside and the food was amazing. My group and I enjoyed empanadas and the choriboard to start. I had this amazing entree of which the name escapes me (maybe marinara napolitana?): it was basically breaded chicken topped with a thin layer of ham, mozzarella cheese, and marinara sauce, served with mashed potatoes. DELISH! We were too full for dessert. We did sample several bottles of wine: the restaurant is also a wine shop, so you browse the wine on display against one wall and bring what you want back to your table. It's a great system; I just wish there were notes provided about the wine or a menu to supplement the wall. Some tables are very close to the wine wall and it's awkward browsing all the selections without intruding on someone's table space. Service was very good all night, and the price was right. I am looking forward to my next visit and hope to take advantage of the lovely patio when the weather is warmer.

This place was wonderful! It's a little less bourgeois Tango Sur which is a sister restaurant, but has just as amazing meat dishes and and empanadas! Go there for a more chill date night amazing filet mignon, sweet beef empanadas (well really all of their empanadas), warm bread, and really any beef dish. you can't miss here and the staff are very friendly.

Ended up here since I got waitlisted in the restaurant next door and wow, how did I not know about Bodega Sur before? This place is fantastic! Bodega sur is like a small version of everyone's favorite, Tango Sur, but for sure less crowded and less wait times. I truly loved the concept of picking my own bottle of wine from their shelves. Those are organized by country and type so it's easier to choose, especially if you know what are you getting for food. My friends and I ordered many dishes and shared. Of course, started with the empanadas (Chicken, sweet meat and spinach) and we ordered la tabla gaucha that comes with a great variety of meats (Short rib, chorizo, flank, etc) salad and of course, chimichurri! We also got the vacio and some sweet potatoes to share. Music and ambiance was perfect, maybe a little dark but for sure it's part of the concept. Definitely will be back and will have it on my notes to recommend. Truly perfect for a date or a go out with friends!

Great experience - the environment and service here are hard to beat. The food itself is also very, very good. The steak came out perfectly medium rare and the selection of sauces was great. It is quite filling, so don't overcommit! Stick to an appetizer and a dish, you'll be very satiated. Maybe wine too if it's that sort of night. Absolutely coming back!

We ended up here after watching a musical @ the Mercury Theater. We tired Tango Sur but the wait was 2 hours so came to Bodega Sur instead. Had a very good red sangria, hubby had the michelada . We ordered salmon, veggie burger and spinach empanadas. The food was mediocre nothing exciting but the vibe of the restaurant was trendy and cool. We had the Argentinian version of profiteroles . Overall a nice experience.

Cute little wine bar and restaurant. We called to see if reservations were required and they stated that they are busy and we would need to. We showed up at our reserved time and the restaurant was empty. This establishment is dimly lit and only has a few tables that I could see. I'm not sure if there's another dining area. The food was ok; nothing to really write home about. Steak was cooked well, hummus and pita were pretty tasty. Not sure I'll go back but I'm glad I checked it out.

The staff was super attentive and kind, checking on us frequently. My friend and I stopped by for happy hour, and this should absolutely make it onto the list of the best in town. They have delicious wine, cocktails, and bites for nearly half of the regular price. I opted for the happy hour prosecco to drink, which was light-bodied and not too sweet. We split the meatballs and dates for bites and both were outstanding. I was super impressed with how tender the meatballs were, and they did not skimp on the flavorful marinara and cheese! The dates, which were topped with a white wine cheese sauce, were mouth-wateringly delicious and a must order. There was also complimentary focaccia with olive oil, which was greatly appreciated. With sea salt on top and a crispy exterior, I could easily have eaten a whole loaf. The only note I have is that the portions are small, so if you don't come during happy hour the prices are a bit steep for what you get. Will 100% be back soon to try more of the menu and highly recommend making the trek over here!

So if you aren't able to get a reservation at galit, cafe yaya is a great option to consider. Cafe yaya was a great experience for us! We had a prior reservation and came here for brunch. We ordered a bunch of things for the table, including the Yaya fries, shakshuka, veggie bowl with sweet potatoes, mushroom, some more veggies with a side of some slaw and a sauce, lamb burger, pistachio rose bun and a veggie twist (this was at the cafe counter). The food was good but for me he standout was the pistachio rose bun. Omg it was to die for, it was not overly sweet, very decadent and had a great amount of pistachios and rose flavor in it, YUMM! The veggie bowl and the shakshuka were decent. My friend loved his lamb burger. The veggie twist was ok, and our server had forgotten about it for a while so we got it late. I'd never been to Willow Room and liked that they had a four course dinner menu, with items I liked. I was able to make a reservation for a Saturday night at 8:15pm. PARKING Parking on Halsted on a Saturday night can be a nightmare, and it did take a minute to find street parking. North of the 1800 block is busier because there are several restaurants within a two block radius. Side streets are permit parking after 6pm. Meters on Halsted are $2.50/hr. ATMOSPHERE Willow Room was pretty packed. We had a reservation for 8:15pm and my party of two was seated right away. The restaurant features a full bar, dim lighting and is nice and roomy. They have banquette seating around the perimeter, in addition to tables in the middle. SERVICE Our server, who was very nice and accommodating during our dining experience, came by and gave us our menu's. I had already decided on the RW menu and after review, my friend was interested in the Beef Wellington (not on RW menu). Our server informed us that normally the whole table had to order off of the RW menu if one person does, but said she would check with the kitchen since this was the last day of RW. Luckily, we were able to proceed with ordering from different menu's. FOOD I ordered a raspberry Cosmopolitan. I'm a Riesling/Moscato girlie, but I tasted the Riesling and didn't like it. RW dinner was priced at $60. I ordered: First Course: Caesar Salad (Typical salad, was good) Second Course: Mussels (Tasted fine, came with a baguette) Third Course: Short Rib (Could've been slightly more tender and better seasoned. I've definitely had better. Wouldn't order again.) Fourth Course: Orange Ricotta Donuts (Donuts were very good. Three were served, a few more would have been more filling.) My friend ordered a glass of Pinot Noir and: Truffle Fries (Fries were very tasty. I would order again if I went back.) Beef Wellington (The breading was buttery and very good. The beef could've been more seasoned. I wouldn't order.) Key Lime Pie (Was not sweet and had no taste. When our server came back and saw it was uneaten, she offered to take it off the bill. It should be removed from the menu altogether.) The busboys and server were very attentive. Our water glasses were always filled. OVERALL The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. Of all the food we ordered, I would order the truffle fries and Cosmopolitan again. I did leave full and did take my leftover Short Rib to go. Main dishes needed more seasoning. I would dine here again and try a different menu (brunch/lunch), or Happy Hour if they offer it.
