Came here for my friend's baby shower, as it's their favorite place. When I posted a photo of the exterior on my instagram story, 4 people who have all moved away from Chicago replied to it saying they miss this place. So, that's a pretty solid endorsement. I hadn't been here (or even heard of it, but I'm rarely in this part of the city). We were in the back room and it was a great little space for the event. Excellent all around- Excellent location, Excellent food, excellent beer, and excellent service. The service was top notch from the moment we called in about sitting on the patio and continued throughout our visit. We were just looking for a place close to Wrigley to eat before the game that wasn't just pizza or wings and this place far exceeded our expectations. The tuna tartare was my favorite bite. I could have ordered a second one. The calamari and the lemon cake were my wife's favorites. It was a reaaly unique version of calamari that was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The gochujang worked really well with the fry on the calamari and the fresh lettuce and lemon wedges. The lemon cake was super flavorful and came with a divine fresh strawberry sauce. The beers were very good. It was clear to see why their Bateman bier won the 2024 GABF amgold for category. Being able to sample the beers before committing was also quite nice. We also had the Certifiable Apa and Uncommon Saison and they both smacked as well. The patio was a delightful find for the city as the surrounding garden tranported you somewhere else while still being quite clearly in the city. Uncommon Ground is exactly that -- anything but common. This all day cafe is your favorite coffee shop, music venue, cocktail bar, remote work spot, weekend hang, and casual fare with an upscale twist restaurant all in one. I pop into common about as often as possible, whether solo or with a friend or two. And I can confidently say I have never been disappointed here. Make sure you find Allen mixing up a mean French 75 behind the bar, Emmy laughing with customers, and Hunter holding down the fort like a certified pro. The classic sweet potato fries plate is one of my favorite go-to shareables, but the whole fall menu feels like it walked off the set of Gilmore Girls. It's the embodiment of autumn. If you stop in for brunch, make sure you don't skip out on the avocado toast -- at a very reasonable price! which you'll never be surprised by, thanks to the clearly labeled QR menu on every table, which is updated frequently. Honestly, it doesn't matter what you order. Great organic restaurant in the heart of Wrigleyville. Greenstar brewing is also on site. The food is very tasty and they go the extra mile to use sustainable ingredients across the board. First time in to catch some great live music from a close friend, the music space seats approximately 50, the tap beer was great, and I saw many featured cocktails make their way across the room. My wife and I split the veggie vegan stir fry and you could tell from how the vegetables were cooked that it was better than your average stir fry. The music space is cozy and there is an awkward restroom option stage left, but there are additional restrooms off the main room. They are not giving anything away here, you will pay handsomely, it is Wrigleyville after all, but it is a nice space with good eats and beverage options, think date night. read more

I came here for brunch after running a 5k in Wrigley. Nothing hits quite like a mimosa after a good run, so I had to order the mimosa flight. They were pretty tasty and had a good variety of flavors. For food, I got the chilaquiles. Being basically breakfast nachos, they have everything you could ever want. Uncommon Ground has some of the better chilaquiles I've had in the city. They have a cute outdoor space as well as seating inside. The bees were out and they love juice, so it made more sense to sit inside which is a shame because it was a beautiful day. Hopefully some other time I can sit outside. Lastly, the service was very good. They were very accommodating and food came out very quickly. read more

My husband came here with his dad before a Cubs game about a month ago, so when we went to a Cubs game a couple of weeks ago, this was the place my husband suggested to go beforehand. Therefore, he thought it was solid enough to bring me here for the first time! We made a reservation because we all know the Wrigleyville area can be crazy with people, and it was smart of us to make it because the restaurant was pretty busy when we got there. When we arrived, the host sat us at a cute 2-person table next to the bar area. Despite us being here on the rainiest day, the restaurant was brightly lit because of the large windows in the dining room. My husband informed me that there were more rooms in the restaurant that we couldn't see and that the room we were seated in was a bit different than the one he previously sat in. I LOVED the aesthetic of the room, and I loved that we were in the brightly lit one where we could see the bar, front door, and the street. We ended up staying at the restaurant later than planned because we watched the pouring rain outside. Service-wise, our waiter was extremely nice and friendly. He asked if we had been there before, and he then gave some drink suggestions. He checked on us throughout our visit and was accommodating. The food was amazing! On Saturdays and Sundays, they have a brunch menu that you order from, and I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy ($15). I am not exaggerating when I say this, but it was AMAZING and the best biscuits and gravy I have ever had. The gravy with the sausage was so flavorful and had a bit of spice. It was the PERFECT balance of a creamy texture. My husband ordered the Farmer's Market Scramble ($18), which has cheddar cheese, kale, asparagus, and red peppers. He got the side salad and a side of sausage links ($6). He LOVED his food and said that he could taste how fresh all of the ingredients were. The last time he came here, he ordered the Avocado Toast ($17) and loved that, as well, which is why he wanted to come back here and try something new. The drinks I ordered were great, as well! I ordered the Beermosa ($11) and also a Cubbie-Rita ($14). However, the waiter said that the machine that makes the Cubbie-Rita was broken at the time, so they made mine by hand, so honestly, mine might have been better than the machine one anyway! If I could give no stars I would for the terrible service. Six servers refused to acknowledge we were waiting for someone to take our order. The bartender finally came over to give us water and take our order after waiting 25 minutes. Three tables that were sat after us received their coffee, but not us. After being there for 90 minutes we asked to speak to the manager regarding the long wait time. The manager gave us an excuse of there being a private party they were catering to in the back. Came here before a show at the music box for dinner and wasn't disappointed. Atmosphere is fun and staff are friendly and attentive. The beers are good not great. All the food we had was really good especially the mac & cheese. The salmon was good but felt like a small portion for the price. My friend had the ribs and loved them. Have always loved coming here but came today for opening day at wrigley and waited ages (server clearly didn't put in our order) and ending up missing the beginning of game and opening ceremonies. My friend and I were starving and ordered two vegan Caesar salads for pickup. She said it was her favorite meal there and it was amazing. She said that this is the first time she ever had it with uncooked broccoli. Now both she and I couldn't eat the uncooked broccoli because it hurts our little tummies too much for uncooked cruciferous vegetables. So once we took it out, we had literally half the size salad. We both did NOT have any avocado, barely ANY brussel sprouts and I'm almost positive I had one piece of kale. So needless to say we were both very disappointed. THAT said the salad we did eat was very good. The dressing was great and the croutons were nice and crispy. I can't comment on the service aside from the fact that it was ready when promised. Funky, fun, & friendly We visited on an overcast Thursday evening and were not disappointed! The cute garden outside had fun Edison-style bulbs and was very dog-friendly. Our pups made friends with the staff and were given a bowl of water. The wine and beer selection was solid without being overwhelming. While there wasn't an overwhelming amount of gluten-free options, there were more than enough options to find something. Uncommon Ground had interesting flavor combos in their salmon dish that I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the crunch on the outside of moist salmon on a bed of avocado and berry purees. I was surprised at how well the flavors balanced each other beautifully! The flourless chocolate torte (GF) was a delicious and rich ending to a good meal! A friend and I were looking for a place to grab some food and a drink before a concert at Wrigley. My friend is vegetarian and she felt they had the most vegetarian options. We were also intrigued by the "organic" beer brewed here. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I honestly would give this experience 1.5 stars. We were immediately seated and it took over 15 minutes for any of the staff to acknowledge us. What's of note is that most of the staff members were talking to each other at the bar. After making eye contact with multiple servers who walked away from us, we were finally offered water and a server came to talk with us. The people next to us said they were waiting over an hour for cocktails. None of the staff were apologetic for the wait to either of our tables. We had two different servers. Because of the wait we immediately ordered and had to wait about 20 minutes for our food. Which was warm at best and pretty lackluster for the price. I got the burger and beer special, which everything was small and you have to get the Mac and Cheese (which I was okay with getting but seemed odd you couldn't get fries). The Mac and cheese was pretty tasteless and quite honestly tasted boxed. I got the Love on the Run and it was pretty decent. However, it was only 8 ounces and it felt like I got two samples as opposed to an actual drink with my meal. This burger and beer "combo" was $25.... My friend got the Black Bean burger and said she had better ones from Costco. The fries did taste pretty good and would have been a nice option for my burger as well. It should be of note the fries were not included in my friend's burger either. Her portions were also really small. The atmosphere looks pretty cool and there is art for purchase. It seems Uncommon also gives opportunities for local artists to perform. Those were cool touches. Overall, I don't think I will be back here for a very long time. I've had better experiences in Wrigleyville compared to this experience with Uncommon Ground. read more

We stopped here for food before opening day Cubs baseball. It was frigidly cold and wet outside so I started with a warm coffee cocktail and slurped down like two or three more because it was hitting the spot. My breakfast followed suit and was delicious. What a great brunch spot in Lakeview/Wrigleyville! We were visiting some friends in the area, and this place was recommended by them. They were great about taking online reservations for a large group. This restaurant is a lot bigger than you think! Lots of different rooms, plus a full bar. We were originally in the front of the restaurant, but it was so hot near the window we asked to move to the back - and Uncommon Ground was quick to accommodate! We were squeezed a bit, but understood we were a large group asking to switch spots. Service overall was kind and quick as well! To drink, I didn't see an espresso martini on the menu, but I asked and they delivered! I was shocked at how great this drink was for not being on the menu. It wasn't too creamy but still really had some sweetness to it. Great for brunch! The table also split some cheese curds and brussels sprouts to start. The cheese curds were good, but nothing special by Minnesota standards. Brussels sprouts were roasty and delicious. The star of the show was the Sunrise Sammy - which just about every at the table ordered. It was hearty and delicious - a great way to start the day. I wouldn't recommend the side salad, since it really was just leaves and dressing and the crispy potatoes looked much better. Overall, great spot in the area for brunch! read more

My friend and I split the strawberry pancakes and the chilaquiles and it was pretty average. The pancakes were my favorite- soft and fluffy, plus not too sweet. The chilaquiles were kind of bland, but the portion sizes were large and filling. I was most disappointed with the coffee. I ordered an iced lavender latte and it tasted like straight up milk. I even had to order another espresso shot to add in and it didn't make it any better. With that price, you're better off going elsewhere for coffee. Got to see band @cutyourlosseschi play a sold out acoustic set in the Uncommon Ground's lounge. Great intimate venue to see some local groups perform! You need tickets so definitely plan ahead. Or you can sit in the restaurant/bar side and just listen from there. The staff provide wonderful service from the time they show you to your seats, take your orders and check on you periodically without being overboard. Food is really great too, lots of options that I'd call upscale bar food! My table shared the sweet potato fries with a goat cheese dip, crispy tasty bacon brusselspouts. Beers on tap and a hot chocolate mocha in a bowl for me. Any place serving their coffee in a bowl a la French style is a must try for me! Pretty solid place for brunch. We had reservations for a party of 10. Service was fine and friendly. They have decent variety of brunch options and it is vegan and vegetarian friendly versions of many dishes. I tried the carnitas benedict and eggs were nice soft poached. I liked they offer an option to have a side salad on many of the dishes. Many people ordered the chilaquiles. The Brussels sprouts were so awesome to share...I would order this again. As a caesar salad connoisseur, I have to say this place makes an outstanding caesar salad. It tasted bright and fresh and the additions, like avocado, broccoli sprouts, and shredded brussels make it out of the ordinary but not any less delicious. The croutons were sooooo good too! I was really excited about their mission and food, but unfortunately it fell short when I finally tried it. Both the smash burger and chicken sandwich were very dry. The chicken sandwich was seasoned well, but for $18 I'd expect it to be cooked well, too. I also couldn't find any avocado and very minimal honey mustard which were on the menu. The burger on the menu stated "GARLIC-BUTTER BRIOCHE BUN (*CONTAINS GARLIC*)". However, I literally didn't taste any garlic. The main flavor was the thick cut onions unfortunately. The fries were okay but not worth coming back. Everything sounded good but just felt really poorly executed. The pretzel itself was good, but the mustard honestly tasted closer to icing. I know that sounds crazy, but it was SO sweet that I can understand how it was a mustard. The cheese was at least solid. Wouldn't recommend and I won't be back. read more

This spot was a short walk from our AirBnB so we decided to check it out. Honestly, we were slightly disappointed in our dining experience here. The inside is cute with lots of natural light. To our shock it was pretty dead inside so we were seated promptly despite being early for our reservation. I ordered the avocado toast which I thought would be a safe option but it was so terribly bland. It came with a clump of soggy greens that were unnecessary. I also ordered a spiked apple cider that was extremely strong so I wasn't able to finish it. My friends agreed that their meals were lacking in seasoning too. Came here in May of 2021 and I honestly couldn't wait to come back. On that visit the bacon wrapped meatloaf was absolutely amazing. It was so good in fact that I obsessed about it until today when I got to have it again. This time it was quite average. Whomever put the love into it last time, there was not the same love this time. So unfortunate, because I was really looking forward to it. I did talk with our server about it and he said he would give feedback to the chef. And I really hope he does, because this doughy meatloaf was not what I signed up for. Besides the meatloaf debacle, the service was still just as good and the beer was amazing. The salad we had was very fresh and quite good. Don't think I'll be returning for the food though. Went prior to Cubbies game for lunch. Got seated fairly quickly. Then sat for a half an hour waiting for a server. After finally alerting the owner we got a server to show up 10 minutes later. We all put in our entire order drinks and food. After another half hour we finally got our drinks. We waited another 20 minutes then flagged down our server to inform him to either immediately serve our food or settle up for the drinks as the game was soon to start at this point. Mind you we have now been there an hour and a half. Our food was then immediately served but cold. Just a horrible experience. Don't bother with this place. read more

One of my favorites, Uncommon Ground - Lakeview is the best place in Wriggly for good food and good beer. Their apps are definitely the best thing on the menu - right now my favorite is the Pretzel w/ Beer Cheese. They have a good selection of beers brewed on site, and offer a build-your-own flight to try five. Their newest summer beer, Heavy Liquid is a great patio beer, not too heavy (lol) and not too floral or fruity. Basically my perfect light beer! Also, check back every season because they change their entree menu a lot! read more
