Bodhi Village has an excellent reputation for making awesome vegetarian dishes look and taste like the real meat equivalent. Kudos for their inventive cooking methods and use of ingredients. I was pleasantly surprised to not have had every dish with the same veggies or starch rotation (as experienced in other vegetarian spots). I was here for an all vegetarian feast! Ten dishes, all better than the previous. Service was really good and attentive. And the food was very well flavored. Visually, every dish mirrored the protein version I have ordered a dozen times before. Kosher vegetarian Chinese restaurant that serves great dim sum. My vegetarian friend discovered this restaurant thanks to social media. Large space with a garage next door. Cute coffee shop is the front that serves coffee, tea, desserts. Instead of carts of food going around, the food is made fresh to order. The staff was helpful but there were moments when the restaurant was empty and it still took time to get their attention. I really like that the menu has photos for each dish and ordering on the tablet is great. We loved the various dim sum dishes we ordered, except the "roast pig" because it was more bread than protein. There is a garage attached to the building but I don't know the cost or if they validate parking - we were able to find street parking. Every time I come back to Flushing, and I'm thinking what I'm craving for delivery, Bodhi is usually top of the list. The interior is spacious, with a cafe in the front and dining in the back. PARKING: if you spend over $50, I believe, they will validate your parking for free at the garage next door. But residential parking isn't too hard to find either when I came. TOP DISHES I'D GET AGAIN: Cedar fried rice is non negotiable. Five Happiness Appetizer- clear choice for appetizers in my opinion. It has a mix of cold and warm. With a bunch of heavy vegetarian meats for entrees, it's nice to have a tangy seaweed salad or cold tofu. The veggie cha siu is great. Would consider again, but not a must have: Buddhist taro delight - The fillings are smoky but would have preferred more sauce with it because it can get dry. Fried taro bowl on the outside is great though. Sa cha mushrooms - good but basically same taste as the taro delight so I would opt for the taro bowl over this. Perhaps if it was hot it would have tasted better, it lacked much flavor. The Jasmin green tea comes in a bag in a French press. Those who eat meat said the dishes tasted very close to their meat equivalent. For 11 of us including tea drinks and tip $510. Street parking is available. I was brought here by a vegan friend who loves eating here. It was pretty late - about 50 minutes before the restaurant closed but they happily seated us and served us with joy. You can tell they're proud of the food they serve. We ordered on their tablets, and they have quite a large menu. We knew we wanted the BBQ Roast Meat (vegan version of char siu) even before walking in. We also got the Pan-Fried Noodles with Vegetable and the Taro Bowl Delight. Food didn't take too long to come out (probably because we were the only ones dining in). The Pan-Fried Noodles are a childhood favorite of mine and I haven't had it since well before I became vegan a little over 10 years ago. It was delicious and I didn't miss the seafood that normally comes with it. Nice crispy noodles that soak up some of the yummy gravy. The Taro Bowl Delight was fun - we watched as our server cut it up into servable portions for us. The bowl was made of the deep-fried taro you find in Wu Gok (fried taro dumplings) and it was filled with veggies that also included some sauteed taro as well. Delicious. And the BBQ Roast Meat was very close to char siu. The Manhattan Chinatown Bodhi Kosher Restaurant (not sure if they're related?) has vegan char siu that is more fatty and crispy that I slightly enjoy more, but this was still enjoyable. I decided to try this place because of all the great reviews, but wow. What a disappointment. From the moment we walked in, the hostess seemed completely overwhelmed, which was odd because the restaurant was only half full. Still, we were patient. But then we sat there for at least 10 minutes. No menus, no water, no acknowledgment. Just... nothing. When we finally got to order, we went with the Buddhist Delight and a rice roll. And then we waited. And waited. Over 30 minutes passed, and meanwhile, larger tables that arrived after us were already getting their food. When I asked about our order, I was basically brushed off like it didn't matter. Maybe because we were just two people, and they prioritized bigger parties? When the food finally showed up, the Buddhist Delight was laughable. 2 tiny pieces of tofu, one mushroom, and the rest, vegetables. The flavor was mediocre. Comparable to what I can get at a Chinese American restaurant. And for $20? What a joke. To top it all off, the service was completely inattentive the whole time. The whole place belonged to us. We were serviced right away. An iPad is given for the menu and placing an order. The staff is very welcoming. A suggested peach tea on a carafe is worth getting. The food did not take long. The place is a favorite of my son and his girlfriend. For us, this place brought in a new adventure feeling. The dishes tasted good and beyond to our expectations. I could not imagine that what I had are nit real meat but has the true flavor of it. My favorite is the five happiness appetizers especially the charsu serving portion. I eat vegetables with just about every meal and I don't mind veggies at all, just not crazy about it - which is why I was not expecting vegetarian food to taste so good. A vegetarian friend of mine finally convinced me to try vegetarian food on a rainy day last week and asked me to recommend a place so I chose Bodhi Village since I've heard so much about it and driven past it dozens of times. She had a very specific request for steamed buns so I had to make sure we arrive before the dim sum time ends (3pm). Food: We ordered a spread of dim sum dishes to try and none of them disappoint (although they could all use a little more salt). I was ecstatic to see the fried mochi-texture ball thingy on the menu (it's 鹹水角 in Chinese but not sure how I would translate it into English) because one time I was purchasing that at a (different) restaurant and my friend was intrigued since she's never had it so she was ready to buy one too (not knowing there's meat inside) but had to put it back once I told her. I just knew that she would've really liked it if it was vegetarian and now, she's finally got a chance to try it. It doesn't really have the usual crispy, fried, oily texture like most places (this one actually tastes air fried or baked) but the savoriness and play of textures are still very much present. The main character of the whole meal was definitely the mock roast pork buns - they were so fluffy with delicious gooey Chinese barbecue sauce coated mock ingredient inside that you can hardly tell it's not actual meat. The only thing going through my mind was "Spectacular. Give me 14 of them right now." Best of all, those were exactly the steamed buns my friend was looking for. She's only been to Bodhi in Chinatown and has recently been craving the steamed buns from there but it has been so long that she forgot what type of bun it was. Luckily, this was the one. Service: The staff was friendly and speaks Chinese and good amount of English. Worth Noting: I should probably mention that this place is not associated at all with the Chinatown Bodhi. However, both their mock roast pork buns are competitive in taste. I would 100% return, just for the buns (and the gorgeous interior atmosphere). Also, if you're going for dim sum - just beware that they may not inform you in advance that they will charge you $8-9 for the hot tea they serve. It bothered us a little at first when we saw the bill (Chinese restaurants usually charge $1-2 per head for tea with unlimited refills) but the tea here was good and the staff were proactive in refilling the kettle (we drank 2 full kettles so in a way, I guess we got our money's worth). If you struggle with finding street parking, it's free 2-hour parking in their garage if your bill comes out to $50+. read more

This was my go to vegetarian place when it was on Main Street. I was sad to see it closed down during the beginning of the pandemic. It reopened not far from the old location so I decided to check it out. The building is new and it has its own cafe, Cafe Bodhi. The space is huge and bright. When you get seated, you are given an ipad to order. The menu is not as extensive as it was at the old location. The dimsum selection is probably half. When you are ready you give the iPad to the waiter. It was a good until the waiter said quite rudely "Did you want tea? You have to order, it's not free." Well okay, I browse through the drinks selection and it seems they want you to order drinks from their so called cafe. I ordered an Americano because they don't have much of a selection on teas, and it's also $6 for tea. I overheard another table asking for hot water because they have their own tea leaves and the waiter said $5 for hot water... The food came quickly and it tastes very similar to how it used to be at the old location. It was delicious but I think it was slightly better at the old location. I ordered a lunch special mock lamb with garlic sauce over brown rice with chicken corn soup and a mock roast pork rice roll.The mock roast pork rice rolls are still one of the silkiest rice rolls ever... the soup was meh. I was delighted with our vegetarian food experience at this place. My son was the one who picked this place for our family celebration. Street parking is a little challenging. As soon as I get in to the facility I immediately noticed the pleasant cleanliness of the restaurant. We came in during dinner on a weekday and we have the whole large area to ourselves. We were immediately accommodated by the staff, all nice and courteous. The staff handed us an iPad from which we could order. We first opted for their peach tea in a carafe, then later ordered five happiness appetizer, veggie sesame chicken, house special mei fun, tofu with mixed veggies and veggie sweet and sour chicken. Been craving Bodhi Village for a while now and am glad I finally got my fix recently! I ordered their Vegetarian Belly Fat Casserole, Sesame Chicken and their Vegetable Crispy Meat Chop with Fried Milk dish and was not disappointed in any way. All their dishes were delicious and it's amazing how they can make these dishes taste like meat. My favorite was the meat chop with fried milk. It was so good, I would order that dish again. The wait staff and service is very attentive and I love that I can order everything off an iPad because they have pictures of everything on the menu which makes everything and communication seamless. I also ordered the iced Assam black tea which was great for digestion and helped as a palate cleanser, while I was eating the different flavors of the fish. This was my first visit to Bodhi Village, since they switched locations. I was a frequent customer pre-pandemic and was excited to finally visit. Unfortunately, a lot has changed, but not necessarily for the better. While the new location is much more spacious with a wonderful cafe in the front, the quality of the food has gone down and is much more expensive. My husband and I went mid-week for lunch and ordered quite a bit, since we were excited to be there. The restaurant was mostly empty. After looking at the main menu and realizing how expensive everything was ($16 and up for most dishes, which do not come with rice), we took advantage of the lunch special, which was a good deal since it came with rice and soup or a spring roll. We also ordered some lettuce wraps and young chow fried rice off the regular menu. Overall, the lunch special dishes lacked flavor, the lettuce wraps were overcooked, and the fried rice was greasy and lacked the usual variety of mock meats. The quality just wasn't there. To top it off, there is no longer free hot tea being served with the meal, which was a bummer since it pairs so well with Chinese vegan food. One positive is that there were good sized portions. Because, I was such a loyal customer at the old location, I'm willing to give Bodhi Village another chance. Perhaps at a busier time, when more food is being produced. read more

I arrived with my family for our Lunar New Year dinner at Bodhi Village. The place was very spacious and since we arrived at 5 PM there was plenty of tables available. The kitchen staff was eating their dinner the same time we sat down so we had to wait 20 min for our first dish.
