This is definitely one of my favorite places to eat in Charlottesville! The prices are extremely fair, and the service is very quick. The bagels are by far and away the best bagels I have had in Virginia. I typically order the onion bagel with herb cream cheese, and it is a perfect combo! I also sometimes get a Pastrami sandwich on the onion bagel with tomato, onion, mustard, lettuce, and feta spread (costs extra), and it is solid. There are a ton of other bagel and cream cheese combos you can order, along with breakfast bagel sandwiches, salads, and other items. Bodo's Blogels. One of the one and only Bagel Shops and chains in C-ville. I may have been spoiled with the bagel shop variety in NYC, but when everyone hyped this placed up as a solid bagel place in Charlottesville, I know I had to try. After my first visit, I have been back ever since. I love their herbs cream cheese and jalapeno cream cheese which all pair well with the everything bagel. Lines on weekends and mornings before football and baskeball game days are out the door and into the street. I woudl recommend coming here in the off hours. I have also trieed their BEC-als (Bacon Egg and Cheese Bagels) which are pretty solid. While reasonably affordable, they do lack the size and quality you can get in NYC. NOTE THEY DO NOT TOAST BAGELS. Overall, a very very solid 4.5 stars. read more

Right across from the UVA Campus you have some stellar bagels that are cooked a bit differently than your typical bagel. The bagels' here are boiled. What this means is they are fresh as can be however they are not hard to chew. This works beautifully for breakfast sandwiches as you layer in eggs, cheese, and your choice of meat the altitude of the bagel sandwich crows in height and diameter. I went with the everything bagel with sausage, egg, and cheese. What I noticed about their everything bagel is it has some salt on it, not the salt I am talking about from any bagel as all bagels obviously have some salt in them, but salt layered on the top of the bagel representing the rarely ordered salt bagel. At initial bite I was not sure how to react as I said to myself, "Hmm....me thinks me taste salt on me bagel." After finishing the bagel and coming back for another order of the same sandwich during the week long stay I had in VA, I was a raving fan and feel the need to get the word out to those who have not had the experience of a Bodo Bagel. Located right in the UVA Corner Bodo's is a go-to whenever I'm craving bagels. There are a multitude of choices ranges from bagels, sandwiches, salads, and drinks. My favorite combo is the lox and cream cheese (replacing the cream cheese with avocado) on an everything bagel w/ sprouts and tomato. I brought my friend here since it was astonishing that she never tried it despite being a UVA student and she absolutely loved it. We shared a Cleo Salad which was delicious - love anything with honey mustard. I personally prefer the bagels in New York, but Bodo's is the epitome of Charlottesville so I have no qualms with it. read more

It's been year since I've had Bodo's bagels and I was blown away by how good these bagels were. This time I had to introduce the rest of my tribe to these amazing bagels and it didn't disappoint. Right across the street from UVA, plenty of indoor seating, ambiance have a really chill and relaxed vibe. This place came up on so many lists for Charlottesville, but we were intimidated when we saw the extremely long line going out the door. However, we toughed it out, and were pleasantly surprised that it only took 15 minutes or so to get to the front of the line. The bagel was really great! I don't understand the hype since moving here. The breakfast sandwiches are fine but they don't toast the bagels because they're allegedly NY Style. Having lived in NY/NJ my whole life before moving here, I can promise that you can get your bagel toasted anywhere. My guess is they don't toast bagels due to the amount of traffic they get and a desire to keep the line moving, which they always do. Despite the popularity, the staff clearly knows how to manage a crowd and provides excellent service. The wait is as quick as they can make it with the amount of traffic they get. I've never seen this place not busy. Each location is always crowded and it's not someplace you'd ever want to sit down and enjoy a meal. Too much noise. read more

How in the blazes did Charlottesville get awesome bagels? Bodo's gets it. Food comes up fast, counter service or the Emmet location has a drive through, casual atmosphere. They don't toast! Whitefish/salmon salad lacks the salty oily texture and flavor you might be used to on a deli, but it's very good. Having been a number of times over the past decade, I would not wait in line to get a bagel here - on weekends you can expect 30+ minutes waiting. Rounding up from 3.5 stars only because I know there really isn't any bagel competition in the area. Bagels are ok - they are fresh, but the texture and flavor is no where near a real NY bagel. I'm not sure how I've never reviewed Bodo's before! I used to think that Bodo's was overrated, but I quickly changed my mind when I tried one of their egg bagel sandwiches. The Everything Bagel in particular is perfectly soft, warm, and spiced with everything you could ever want on a bagel (salt, garlic, poppy seeds, sesame seeds). Best of all, Bodo's makes a great budget breakfast or lunch! I've always left spending much less than expected. The crowds can get pretty crazy here when classes are in session, but they have other locations in Charlottesville as well (Preston Ave and Emmet St N) which offer parking, unlike at this location. read more

Service is so excellent I'd say it's better than Chix filet... COVID19 Status: Stopped by here to get some bagels before we were leaving town. There was a long line, which moved fast and due to the pandemic, there was no seating - only to go bagels. They were already out of the Everything bagel by 11am so I got the Onion bagel with Turkey, avocado, tomato, sprouts and lettuce. I live in NYC so I can't compare them to the NY bagels but these bagel here are more on a softer side. My sister got the Chicken salad on Garlic bagel- it was average, I definitely prefer mine over hers. Bodacious Bodo's Bagels! Bagels galor. Huge line but Bodo's knows how to handle it. They line went by super quick, only thing is you can't really hear when your number is called and your order is ready! They are super fast and have a huge selection of sandwiches. We came on a Sunday and the line was almost out the door (even on the chilly morning) and we were served in under 20 minutes. Props to the team for being on top it and for still even clarifying what type of bagel you want and not rushing you. Definite recommendation is the Deli Egg Bagel on top of one of their everything or garlic bagels. Egg with chunks of meat. Mmhmm yum. The jalepeño lime cream cheese was surprising sweet but soo soo good. Little kick, lots of cream, surprising really sweet. A classic UVA tradition is to be ticket #1! Aka the first person in line. Definitely avoid on weekend mornings if you hate long lines but still the longest i've waited is 20-30 mins (?) Im a big fan of eggs on bagels and the veggie patty as well. No longer recommend getting lettuce now that they charge 25 cents and last time I got it they gave me ONE LEAF. So would knock a star down for that but otherwise solid bagel place. We visited Charlottesville this weekend and my husband constantly talks about this place. So we had to check it out. The line was so long, but it honestly went by pretty fast. The team is very quick at taking orders and getting them out. For some reason it took us a while to get our order, people who ordered after us was getting their food before us. We only order two bagels with cream cheese. So that was a little frustrating. I got an everything bagel with honey pecan cream cheese. The bagel was so soft and chewy. The cream cheese was sweet and amazing. My husband got a cinnamon raisin bagel with regular cream cheese. I wish we got more to take home, that's my only regret. read more

Some of my coworkers recommended this place to me. So while on my business trip, I just had to make a trip to bodo's bagels for some breakfast. I got the lox bagel which was great! They toasted my everything bagel and smothered a bunch of cream cheese on there. I opted out of the capers which isn't my favorite. Other than that, this place can get quite busy. Everything was delicious and the workers were really nice. Located in college town, this place is definitely swarming with college students. So if you want to enjoy some breakfast here, go early! i ordered the cream cheese and lox bagel with tomato, onion, and sprout. it was very delicious and filling, however, the sprout was over powering so next time i'm avoiding that. there was more sprout than the lox. minus one star only because the lox bagel didn't include the tomato and onion and the bagel shops i usually go to have it ready to go including the capers. i also ordered the lemonade and it was extremely fresh. not the sweetest but definitely the freshest. the line moved very quickly as well and staff was very quick and nice. it was a lovely day and weather was perfect :)) read more

Bodo's is bae. I don't consider myself a broke-a** college student anymore, but if I did I would hit up this CVille institution on the reg. And by reg I mean breakfast and lunch. I'd probably schedule all my classes around this place, too. On my most recent trip, I stuffed myself during lunch time, for only $6.56! I ordered a breakfast sandwich, which included a sausage patty, egg crepe, and muenster cheese all in-between an everything bagel ($3.50), as well as as basic bagel with cream cheese schmear ($2.05). Bodo's bagels consist of a soft, chewy texture to them. (I like.) Supposedly, they taste very New York-y, and if that's the case then I love NYC. Something that caught me off guard is their cream cheese - it almost completely melted when I received it. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way, but ended up licking my fingers at the end.
