I left Body Jewlz extremely embarrassed and frustrated by how I was treated as a divorced/remarried mother. I brought my daughter in for an ear piercing and provided my ID and identification for her. The employee noticed our last names don't match, and I explained that I am divorced and remarried. I was then told our last names needed to match. Body Jewlz's own online FAQ states: "If you are under 18 and need parental/guardian permission, both you and your guardian must bring ID." It does NOT state that the parent and child must have matching last names or explain what documentation is required for a divorced/remarried parent. I repeatedly asked what I could provide to prove I am her mother. I was told a birth certificate, which I explained would show my former married name, not the name on my current ID. When I specifically asked what divorced mothers are supposed to provide, I was eventually told "guardianship paperwork." I explained that I don't have guardianship paperwork because I am her biological mother. Their final solution was that my daughter's OTHER parent would have to come in. I explained that she is estranged from that parent, and I was told there was nothing they could do. The employee then collected my paperwork and started helping someone else in a very crowded store. I was mortified. I wasn't asking them to waive their policy, I was repeatedly asking HOW to comply with it. If Body Jewlz requires additional documentation when a parent's name has changed due to divorce or remarriage, then clearly state what documentation is accepted. Telling a mother there is no way to prove she is her child's parent unless the other parent comes in is not a reasonable solution. Divorced and remarried parents exist. Your policy, and your treatment of customers, should account for that. Shame on you. read more

i've been here a couple times and have had bad experiences. the first time i came to get my lip ring changed and the lady piercer had a weird attitude with me for no reason? MULTIPLE of my coworkers have had the same experience with her being rude. idk how you expect people to feel comfortable letting you do something as intimate as piercing when you act like you hate the client. get a new job if you don't know how to make people feel comfortable in your chair. and then yesterday they sold me poor quality improperly sized plugs and when i went to my regular piercer he said he wouldn't ever use these!! they aren't even the right size and they refused to refund me. the man on the phone treated me like i was dumb, and was using misogynistic language. i'll never go here again. read more

Received a piercing here that immediately got infected and was not what was paid for. Went to speak to the manager and she took no responsibility or accountability for the issue. Then when showed her the jewelry and images of the infection.. she tried to back track and say that wasn't from the piercing when it's very clear it was. She tried to claim that people don't have reactions from metal. The most Ignorant statement I've ever heard. Couldn't articulate the difference in surgical or implant grade titanium. Hilarious. The white man that was running the front was very rude and unprofessional talking to us like we are little kids. He said he could pierce my friend sister ear because she's a minor but my friend was her older sister. And he started yelling talking loud about this law and that law he couldn't do it. We search up that law he was incorrect. It stated that a parent or legal guardian can sign off for a minor to get a piercing. I feel like we were discriminated. Because he looked at us like we are different. We also went to a different place to get our ear pierced and told them what we experienced. They were in shocked and in disbelief. The piercer, she was kind and funny. She did an amazing job and knew what she was doing and informed me of what she was doing the whole time. I was walking around the mall and I saw this store and I had been wanting a belly button periceing for a while, went in and did all the id and paper work and paying for it and all that stuff thenI started getting this weird feeling and I started getting really uncomfortable through the whole process cause it all seemed very unprofessional. 1st she got the jewelry that I wanted wrong 3 times in a row and kept opening up packages to find the one that I wanted. I told the guy at the front I wanted the plain one with no jewel and she messed it up and kept trying to push the idea of just getting the jewel ones instead. Anyways she put the dots on and I said ok. THEN... when she pierced, me I noticed 1 the bar was too small and I told her and she grabbed my stomach to put the bar up to make it seem like it was "enough" and then I also noticed that it wasn't even lined up and it was crooked... anyways I knew it was gonna happen my periceing started sinking, not infected but it sinked into my stomach. Nothing on my end caused this cause I'm not a stomach sleeper and I don't wear tight clothing. The bar was short since day one. Super unprofessional and disrespectful. I am very disappointed with my service here in vintage faire mall in Modesto . I came about a week ago to get back dermal piercings . They marked them and I noticed one was lower than the other and the PIERCER told me it was the way I was turning around to look at it in the mirror. I was under the impression they were straight so she pierced them and when I got home to take off the bandaids they were in fact un even . I had to go back to get the one removed and they told me I needed to wait around 3-4 weeks to get it RE pierced. I came in today so they can check to see if I was able to get it any sooner and they were talking to me like I'm stupid . The situation escalated to them telling me they won't re pierce them anymore . Moral of the story do not go here unless you want to be talked to like a child and disrespected . I would NOT recommend going here for piercings. The experience feels super rushed and you are not given any time to decide on placement of piercing, you just have to take the piercers word. I had called prior to that and asked what they made the belly button rings and nose rings of. I told the person on the phone that I can not wear cheap jewelry. If I do, it never heals. I was told that they don't use the cheap stuff. On May 27th my daughter and I went to Body Jewlz Body Jewlz in Vintage Faire Mall 3401 Dale Rd. Modesto, CA 95356. They showed me nose rings and belly button rings. Going by what I was told on the phone, I didn't ask what they were made of. I paid for 2 nose piercings and 1 belly button ring at 4:35 PM. I would have to say by the evening of Sunday, May 29th my belly button piercing was infected. I took a picture of it on Monday at 12:03 AM. It was red already. It got worse by Friday. I called the Store and talked to Justin. I told him I needed a longer belly button ring. He said to come in anytime and they would hook me up. I went to the store at Vintage Faire Mall and Justin said to go on back to see Brandy. She said I'm sorry your belly button ring didn't work out. She took the one I had on out and I was waiting for her to put on a new one. She said that they didn't have a longer one. I then went out to talk to Justin. Justin was very rude. He told me I got my belly button pierced against better judgment. I said against your guy's better judgment? I then asked why they pierced it then. He turned it around on me and made me feel like I was being Body-Shamed. Something about body structure or something. I'm not skinny but lost weight, so yes, I wanted it done. Justin has no right to say anything about anyone's body. This is ridiculous. I want my money back. I don't think I will return to your store. I do not appreciate what he said. I also do not appreciate being lied to when I asked what the belly button ring was going to be made of. On 5/3/2022 I called the store and asked them again what the belly button rings are made of. I was told that they are surgical steel. Maybe to whoever surgical steel isn't cheap, but it is for me. I ordered longer belly button rings from Amazon, but they took an extra day to get to me. I then called around and found long belly button rings at Spencer's in The Vintage Faire Mall. I went and purchased a longer belly button ring at Spencer's. It is acrylic, and the other belly button rings I ordered from Amazon they are made of plastic. It is getting better. If I had not been LIED to and told that the store does not use cheap stuff, my belly button piercing more than likely would not have gotten infected. At this point, I'm not sure if my nose is infected or not. It's swollen inside and I need a longer one made of titanium that won't fall out. If The Store Manager wants my real name. They took care of my wife's nose piercing earlier today. My wife doesn't speak English so I tried to walk in with her to the piercing room just to see if anything was needed before they got started given the language barrier. The artist was aggressive trying to tell me to return to the waiting room when I mentioned that I was there because of the language barrier. I did not resist or refuse, I completely understand the policy, so I just stepped out of the room. Well damn. I got my nose pierced here a few days ago and so far so good but now that im looking at reviews I really hope I don't regret it. Other than some dry skin and me forgetting I have the piercing and bumping the piercing everything seems good. They were busy when we went so I assumed they were a decent shop. Lots of people doing their noses. The guy at the front wasn't the friendliest but he wasn't terrible. The piercer was nice. She talked me through a little anxiety. It hurt quite a bit and I felt like she was rough but I'm also not really pain tolerant. She did put a dot on my nose and it looked fine but I feel she went w but higher and my piercing might be at a funny angle given the way my nose is shaped but I'll be back to update if it seems to be an issue. read more

Went to take my son to pierce his nose. They checked his ID since he is 16 and mine. They proceeded to tell me my son can't get his nose pierced because he and I do not have the same last name. Stating"most people's last names match?" So why ask for ID if you require a birth certificate. Or disclose that you need birth certificate when I called and asked what was needed. DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. The piercers are unlicensed. They are street piercers. If they were, their licenses need to hung up. I didn't know this and if I did before, I would have gone to a real shop. I got my belly button done here, the equipment was sterile and fine. But she did not use clamps, some don't, so I wasn't too worried. But she took too much skin! The initial jewelry she put in was a bit small and after three days, you could not see any of the bar. It was very swollen and painful. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS SEE THE BAR HANGING OUT A BIT. I went to a real piercing shop after I couldn't see the bar at all and he (an actual licensed and certified piesaid it was way too small and the jewelry she put it is meant for COMPLETELY healed piercings. It did NOT accommodate for swelling and clear pus drainage. It was so swollen, he had to put in a curved tongue ring because the Body Jewlz piercer really f*ed up. Update: my belly button rejected due to the bar being misplaced and too deep. The body Jewlz piercer did not take into account my body, length, or the size of the ring. Due to that, it rejected and the skin holding it actually deteriorated. I took it out two days ago and nothing helped. Have to go to emergency room to get it stitched. I followed all cleaning instructions from the start, and due to it being SO deep. The piercing took a while to finally come out, but by then it was already too late. The peircer didn't do a very good job at all with lining up the piercings and now I have an entry point in the MIDDLE of one of my nipples and exit point at the base so it's noticeably at an angle and the worst pain I have felt. Ive heard some pretty good reviews of this place from people i know so i went while i was shopping and got 3 piercings done here, double cartilage piercings and a tragus, I've done double cartilage on my other ear so I thought i knew what to expect with healing but 6 months later I had to take them out. When I got pierced I thought the bars were a little to short so I went back a few months later and asked if i could get longer bars because my ear swelling was not going down, and they were constant getting infected even though i was cleaning them everyday and not sleeping on them. It basically looked like my ears were swallowing the earrings. The front desk lady told me no and that the bars were long enough. The swelling got so bad and they got so infected that I almost had to go to the doctor to get them taken out. The bar on my tragus was considerably longer than the bars they put in my cartilage which I thought was weird and that one healed just fine. $230 down the drain for piercings that would not heal and i had to eventually take out. Highly recommend going to a real piercing shop like emerald they've done all my others no issues at all. Safe to say I'll never be back read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Don't go here unless you have money to just throw down the drain and you want a messed up piercing. My piercing was done crooked. After hesitating on going back to talk to the piercer (who is also the manager-Kim) I called and was told to come back to "see what they can do." I went back and talked to the piercer who said I would have to pay for it to be fixed because "there was nothing wrong with it." Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you're unhappy with how your piercing looks, shouldn't you be able to get it fixed since you already paid for the service? I went there to get my nostril pierced and it's not healing how it's supposed to heal. I asked the girl at the front if the jewelry I chose the first time would look big on my nose and she no so I bought it. She took me to the piercer which was really nice. Once I came out I looked at the ring and it looked really big which I talked to the lady at the front about it and asked her if it was possible for me to change it for a smaller ring since it looked to big. She told me since it was the first time piercing it was going to look big and suggested to leave for a few days and then come back I told her that it was not my first time and that's why I asked her if it was going too look too big as to which she said no. Anyways she told me I was going to have to buy another ring and I ended wasting 100 and something dollars. This piercing place is horrible! I went in on my birthday in August to get my double forward helix piercing done and they pierced me with a short bar. Now that I'm in the healing process and my piercing is swollen, the stud/bar I was pierced with is digging into my skin. I called them and they're trying to charge me $35 to get both my top and bottom ones changed to a longer bar. When I went in to get them done also, the cashier charged me $60 for both piercings and the piercer came out and told him "you need to charge her $80 because it's a different kind of piercing" or whatever she said. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE! Don't ever come here to get your piercings done. Customer service SUCKS! Some of the employees are so rude and so unprofessional.
