Overall, I liked the studio and found the class times to be convenient for my schedule. The instructors were great about showing modifications, both easier and more challenging, which I found productive to my own progress. Instructors were really great about answering questions after class (e.g., pigeon pose always cuts off my leg circulation for some reason, despite being hyperflexible, and they helped me find an alternative). I really wanted to love this place, but the main reason I did not go back is because most of their classes are hot yoga, which I really don't like. Personally, the heat does nothing for me besides drench my clothes ~completely~ in sweat (required a towel on my fabric car seats!) and, frankly, has no science to prove any benefits anyway. Plus, in addition to being annoying, it is also a hazard. I tried a lot of things to make the experience less slippery on my mat and nothing seemed to work. I just didn't think it was worth the struggle of trying not to slip and fall in basic poses, which I would not have to waste my time thinking about (and ultimately distracting me from the meditative experience) in a normal class. I also took an aerial yoga class, which was fun to try, but I personally found it pretty uncomfortable (cutting off circulation, digging into my legs despite being pretty thin figured). Just wasn't for me. If you don't mind hot yoga, you'll probably love this place. But if you do, you should choose a different studio (which is honestly hard to find in this area, as many places are hot yoga only).

I trained with her for over two years, starting about six months after I had my daughter. At first, she helped me get back to feeling like my normal self again and then over time she helped train me to reach my goal of gaining more muscle/strength. I could see and feel the difference but I could also see the improvement in the numbers from the InBody assessments. Alexis was the reason I consistently showed up to the gym. We trained weekly in both 30- and 60-minute sessions, and she always knew how to balance motivating me to push harder with recognizing when my body needed a slower pace. Because I've dealt with multiple injuries, she often had to adapt my workouts, sometimes acting like a physical therapist as much as a trainer, and she did it with such knowledge and care. Beyond her expertise, Alexis is simply an amazing person. She made the time we spent together fun, supportive, and inspiring. I looked forward to our sessions not just for the fitness, but for the energy and encouragement she brought. I truly can't recommend her enough as a personal trainer. The only reason I'm no longer working with her is because I've moved, otherwise, I'd still be training with her today. Lourdes also offers on-site childcare, which was such a game changer for me. Knowing my daughter had a safe, fun place to play with caring staff made it possible for me to show up and focus on my workouts.

I am deducting a star because the sign on process is incredibly invasive and unlike anything I have seen anywhere else. They ask for pages of private medical information; everything from what medications you are on to what ailments you have. They want to know all of surgeries you have had, if you're depressed, who are all the doctors you see and what is their contact information. It is absurd. They are also very secretive with their pricing. They ask for this health information and you have to get a tour from a salesman before they will even tell you that it costs $66/month to join. The process is the same for personal training, yoga, and pilates. No one seems to know what the classes cost. You can only find out after taking an introductory class. It's such a turn off. If you can get past those things, and you are just joining for the basic amenities, you will enjoy the gym.

The studio itself is extremely clean and bright with lots of windows and sunshine. There is plenty of space for a good sized class. I believe the times I had come the classes were pretty full with 25 or so people. I took a Yin Yoga class on Thursday evening, an alignment class on Friday morning, and an acroyoga workshop that same afternoon. The instructors were extremely knowledgeable and safe. One of…read morethe things that's pretty tricky being on the go is finding a good gym to get a quality workout in. I can say that I had a good lifting experience here at New Image, and I'm a fan. Now, it's not the latest, state of the art type of place. In fact, the equipment may have a bit of wear and tear, if not the walls themselves, etc. as well. But that's why I like this place. It's not pristine, it's gritty. It's more what comes to mind when you tell a lifter that a gym is "hardcore." Good solid equipment, that while it may not be the newest and shiniest, it does the job well. The upstairs has some cardio equipment, Hammer Strength and other machines, some free weight dumbbells with some sizeable weight, and a dedicated cage area. Downstairs, it is more dedicated to powerlifting type lifting and more free weight area including more dumbbells also. The steady crash of someone pounding out deadlifts can be heard from down there usually (at least my couple of visits). Iron plates...man I love a gym that uses iron plates instead of the rubber type replacements you see most places now. It's not super cooled AC filled, in fact you'll work up a good sweat there while one or two industrial floor fans help circulate the air. Good solid workout environment. The people in New Image were great, both staff and fellow lifters. The staff I encountered were friendly, helpful, and positive. A good number of the other lifters said a friendly hello or even asked where I was from (I guess my accent gives it away, of course). It felt like a good camaraderie existed there, another plus in my book. Bottom line: If you are looking for hardcore gym environment and a good all-around great place to get your workout in, New Image can provide it. While it's not a shiny day spa-like gym, it's got what it takes in both equipment and atmosphere as well as interaction to make your lifting experience there a good one. She jumped right in to help in ways that I wouldn't have been able to ask for. She cooked us lots of healthy and delicious meals with whatever we had on hand, made sitz baths and tea for me, always making sure mama was hydrated and fed. She helped me with my baby wearing wrap and had lots of resources to connect us with if we needed them. Whatever your needs are, Eliana will show up and meet them. In my postpartum state with hormones and sleep deprivation, etc., I struggled to figure out what I needed most each time she came over, but Eliana was able to see how/where she could best help without me needing to explain. Having a postpartum doula is WELL worth the investment, especially if you have limited support people around you. I would hire her again 10/10!!
