Someone once told me a good massage is supposed to hurt. But I also remember that bruises hurt too. I'm hoping I just had a really really good massage. Personally, I like my massages to be therapeutic in addition to relaxing. The masseuse I got was very strong but seemed to have a dominant right hand so the massage felt a little unbalanced. I'm not a massage maven but from the few that I've had I prefer them to be even and systematic. For example, left - right - arms - legs - neck - head... not left - neck - arms - head - leg - right. My masseuse was random at times so I didn't know what to expect. Coupled with my mild case of OCD-ity, this randomness was somewhat stressful. I requested deep tissue... I believe I got bone crusher. She worked very hard to loosen the knots in my back and neck areas, but it wasn't without sacrifice. Shit hurt like a mutha f*cker! It has been a couple days now and I still feel the after-effects, but my muscles definitely feel less tense. Body Therapy Center is located in a business plaza which they converted an office into individual massage rooms. The place is kind of hard to find because it's in the back. Once you pull into the parking lot, walk towards the pond. The walkway has stepping stones over the water so if you are scared of falling in, take the long way around. Once inside, your masseuse will greet and escort you to the room where you strip down into your birthday suit and lay on a massage table under a sheet. This place was cleaner than the Thai place I went to in LA and looked like they actually change the sheets. There are aromatic candles and 1 Kenny G song on repeat playing in the background, which I hope she changes the CD soon because I have a low Kenny G threshold. You have to be comfortable being naked and touched because she does massage you all over. Yes, even the ticklish buttocks (my leg embarrassingly twitched several times while she did this region). However, if you are uncomfortable with something you can let them know and they will politely accommodate your requests. The cost is very reasonable for what you get, $41 for 60mins (she actually did about 70mins for me). The office belongs to a chiropractor who also offers basic adjustments for only $20. I will definitely be back, but I might try a different masseuse... perhaps one that doesn't rub my muscles against my bones like a washboard. read more

Everyone needs a good massage and adjustments every now and then and if your ever in this area, then I recommend the body therapy center. After seeing the stellar reviews on Yelp, I had to book a massage here. Just came back from my one hour massage and it was absolutely incredible! My masseuse Tina applied just the right amount of pressure and focused on my back and neck as I had requested. I was so relaxed that I almost fell asleep, but there were times where she really worked on the knots in my shoulder that hurt a little bit. But my philosophy is "No pain, no gain". No complaints because all the kinks were worked out, and I feel a lot less tight and more flexible now. After I paid my $41 + tip for the one hour massage, the owner Dr. Zarrabi gave me sound advice about drinking water, adjusting my work desk for proper posture, making sure to exercise frequently, having regular intervals of massages every 2 - 3 weeks because of my shoulder/back problems, and that next time I come in, he will give me an adjustment for $20. I scheduled a massage during my lunch hour for that same evening after work, they were able to accommodate! I knew from yelp this place was tucked away, so I did not have too much trouble finding it. I came in, and immediately was helped, shown to my room, and got my swedish. I asked for a focus around the shoulders and neck, and she did a great job to work those areas extra in my one hour session. At 41$ you cannot beat this place. When my sister was visiting from out of town, we decided to go get deep tissue massages. I found this place through yelp, so I wanted to try it out. We both tend to hold a lot of stress in our neck and upper back, so a deep tissue would definitely do the trick. I booked an hour and a half massage for the both of us a couple of weeks prior to our appointment. The owner/ Chiropractor of Body Therapy Center warmly greeted us. I had my massage with a gal named Claudia and my sister had her massage with Anna. In the beginning of the massage, Claudia asked me what she should focus on and I let her know. I told her that I needed more focus on the neck and upper back and that's what she mostly concentrated on. Overall, she did a good job, but I do wish she put more pressure into the massage. I guess I can handle the extra deep tissue, haha. My sister told me that Anna did a great job and she even put heating pads on her neck and upper back during the massage. That little extra something does make a difference! My sister was very sore after her massage, but I wasn't feeling it too much. The clinic is not spa-like at all, but it gets the job done! Excellent massage and back adjustment! I made an appt. for 1 hour massage after reading the other reviews....and was very happy w/ the service. I was greeted by the owner, and told him how I was having lower back pain after a wily judo session last week. He recommended I get the massage first then get adjustments done, which I did. The massage was great, cant beat 1 hour for 41 dollars. Plus the masseuse was very good. After the adjustments by the chiropractor, my back felt much better than before. Also, the price he charged me for the adjustments was a super value. All in all I give this place 5 stars. The inside is clean, value is great, and excellent service. To be honest, I was expecting to find this was one of those asian massage places (if you know what I mean). However, I was pleasantly surprised. I booked myself a 1.5 hour massage for $60. It was such a bargain! The place is located in an office complex. A bit hidden and hard to find. Once you are inside, the place is very simple. It looks like mostly a chiropractor's office. The room had a massage table, candles, music, etc. For the money, you can't beat it. Overall, the massage was good. It helped me lossen up some of the knots on my body. I recently visited Body Therapy Center and booked the 90 minute massage for $61. The place is no frills, but clean. First of all, the table was hard as a rock. I looked under the sheet and saw the that they had purchased the very cheapest massage table (2" foam padding) and then made no attempt to provide extra padding to it. The face cradle was covered with a towel and then the sheet so it was no better. I could deal with that if the massage were better, but it wasn't. My massage therapist was Esther and: 1. SHE CUT MY TIME BY 15 MINUTES. This is the most egregious thing you can do, IMHO. I arrived for my appointment 10 minutes early but was not shown to the room until 10 minutes past my appointment time. And then she stopped 5 minutes early. Not okay. 2. Esther does not know how to give a deep tissue massage. Pushing on various body parts with your forearm and elbow until your client is squished into the granite- like table is not deep tissue. DT is a multi step process where you find the areas of restriction ((with your HANDS), warm the fascia, work slowly into the tissue, release/break up the restriction and then force blood through the muscle from origin to insertion to restore the proper blood flow. Esther does not know how to do this, nor does she understand even step 1. ( I know because I asked her about it). The 2 stars are really just for price. I may go back and see if another therapist will be better ( there are 7) . If it is better, then I will upgrade the stars. read more

I read all the reviews and decided to give the $41 massage a try. The location was relatively easy to find because the man gave me directions. The important thing to know is the entrance is on the inside by the lake/pond and can't be seen from the parking lot. Once inside, it's an office not glamorous...I had my session with Patricia. She did a pretty decent job. There was no music which i didn't like...music helps my mind drift and not run a million miles an hour. I asked for a deep tissue massage and she was afraid to hurt me. I told her the more it hurts the better it feels...It was clear that she had been to massage school and was just getting started...or at least it felt that way...But for a $41 massage no complaints. I've been twice to get deep tissue massages and both times have been great. The first time I came here, I had been having back pain for a few days. I pulled a muscle in my back a couple years ago and ever so often I get kind of stiff and experience some pain. I called my insurance looking for a chiropractor or physical therapist that would be covered, but I would still be paying about $70 for a visit! So I searched for more "pocket-friendly" options, if you know what I mean. I tried massage envy and some other wellness centers that were inexpensive, but I was disappointed. Finally, I found this place. The man at the door was very polite and when i came in he introduced me to my physical therapist. Nancy was great! She asked where my problem areas were and focused on them. During the massage she would ask me ever so often if the pressure was too much or not enough. It was just a pleasant experience. The facility itself is no Burke Williams (which I also tried, BTW) but for $41 it's not bad. They play some nice soft music in the background and they don't jip you on the time either. After my first visit, i took my cousin because she was very stressed out. She loved it! She felt super relaxed afterwards. The only thing I would recommend, if your going to go with the deep tissue massage, pop a couple ibuprofen right after because YOU WILL BE SORE. After a day or two you will feel amazing though! I kindly have asked them multiple times to get me off their calling list n they respond with attitude n say im not on a calling list. Warning if you do not want to be sore do not ask Denise for a deep tissue massage. It was so great for me but definitely painful but soooo worth it. I got here about 10 minutes early and Denise was able to see me which is great. The room was warm and inviting and oil she used was not super greasy. Denise kept checking in on me to see how I was doing because she knew she was pretty rough but it was so good. I came here because a coworker referred this place to me and I so do not regret taking a day off to do this. I really enjoyed my experience and the staff are super friendly. I called them up and scheduled a 1/2 hour massage for on my way home. The doctor answered the phone and was super nice and accommodating. They advertise in Penny Saver, but honestly, I think this place is drumming up decent business because of their word-of-mouth reviews and their quality massages for such a great price! $41 for 60 minutes!! What?! Yep, I actually didn't think it was possible to get such a great deal in Orange County. The best part of this place are the deep tissue massages. When you ask for a strong deep pressure massage, they will apply more pressure and give your tired and sore muscles a workout! I really liked Sara Garcia, because she was friendly and had really strong hands. Plus, she chatted with me the whole time and suprisingly enough knew what my occupation was when I first walked in. Ooh, and the chiropractor in charge--Dr. Zarrabi-- of the place is also really friendly. The rooms are always clean and you don't have to wait to get an appointment, they're pretty accommodating. You can also get a back adjustment by the chiropractor. Dr. Zarrabi is awesome! This was really just an OK massage. I don't think the person who gave me one really knew what she was doing. I had a couple of tight spots, my upper calves and tennis elbow, and I really had to guide her to get her to work on it. Plus she did deep tissue but just hammered my back rather than slowly work into the deep tissue. The more I think about it it really wasn't very good but it was cheap, $60 for 1 1/2 hours plus tip. I've been going here for at least 10 years now. The doctor is always wonderful and the girls are all amazing. My girl has retired, so I get different masseuse each time and I've never been disappointed. When I was pregnant, I would get maternity massages at least once a week and it really helped my back. Now that I moved out of the city, I can't find another place like this. They have great service and you can't beat the price for a 1 hour massage here. Everytime I come home to visit, I try to make an appointment and the Dr. always remembers me, which is so nice. Hands down best massage for injury/lower back pain. Body therapy center is not your foo foo spa massage but a real fix my pain type of place. I have L5 S1 herniated bulging discs & their massages have been a lifesaver since my friend referred me 5 years ago.The massage therapists are all very good but my experience today was truly KIND customer service. I have a newborn 1 month old baby girl who has yet to bottle feed. My back pain always subsides in pregnancy(courtesy of relaxin hormone) but started to rear its ugly pain again once I had baby & started sleeping in nursing chair, lifting car seats in & out of car, carrying my baby on me in carrier, my back just hurts! So I had my appt. today & decided to call ahead & ask how busy they were bc I was toying with idea of bringing her rather than leaving her with my other kids & sitter. New babies usually sleep, like alot, but I thought I would ask. Dr. Z said "go ahead and bring her, dont worry I'll put you on the other side of the office so you wont have to worry about her crying upsetting someone elses massage." So I turned up & Araceli could not have been a better therapist fit for me, sent from heaven. I basically got a mommy & me massage, Araceli was beyond understanding about me needing to nurse & change her when baby DID NOT sleep through my massage, she even had the time to accomodate 1 1/2hrs since baby was cramping my massage time. This place is terrific! I have tried 6 other massage therapy places in Orange County, and body thperapy center puts them all to shame. Not only do you get a great massage, but the prices are great. My wife and I do the 1 hour massage for $40. You can't beat that! We have tried 7 different therapists and only had a bad experience with one. So now we just make sure to steer clear from that one. If you happen to have a bad experience with one, just ask for someone else next time. Everyone has a different style and personality. Don't expect to walk in to Burke Williams. I had an hour massage with Sara last week and she is amazing. Her hands are strong and she wasn't afraid to increase the pressure when asked. While I got a full body massage, she did also focus on my problem areas and gave good tips for stretches that could help. I will be seeing her again next week.
