I've taken Pilates for years, and in my experience the very best instructors often come from dance. Blair's background in ballet shows in the way he teaches. Precision, flow, musicality, and an expectation that you move with intention. That's exactly what I look for. Blair's classes are not beginner classes. They move quickly, and that pace is a feature, not a flaw. I love it. The class assumes body awareness, coordination, and a willingness to keep up. If you're used to being talked through every micro-movement, this may not be your style. For me, it's energizing and deeply effective. For anyone new to Pilates, this studio clearly offers Foundation-level classes designed for neophytes. That's where beginners should start. Blair's classes are for students who already have a base and want to work at a higher level. I leave his classes feeling strong, focused, and challenged in the best way. Not every class is for every body, and that's a good thing. If you appreciate dance-informed Pilates, fast transitions, and an instructor who expects you to show up ready to move, Blair delivers. One last thing, because it's honestly bizarre. Some reviewers have taken pot shots at Blair's dog, a calm, friendly, well-behaved Shih Tzu who quietly exists in the studio. That says far more about the reviewer than the class. If a small, non-disruptive dog is enough to derail your workout, Pilates probably isn't the issue. Focus matters. Perspective helps. Bright and pretty studio, helpful staff, and lots of mats and reformers, plus additional equipment/props to add on to your workouts. The class I did today was Core Burn Tone & Sculpt, which caters to beginners or those who want a slower paced class. I've done a lot of Pilates but this was my second reformer class. It was a good match for what my body needed today. Jenna's class was challenging but with modifications to help and I appreciated her giving hands on corrections when needed. This studio is poorly maintained and, at times, unsafe. The ceiling has visible holes and water damage, reformers are taped together, the loops are frayed, and equipment is mismatched and worn. The walls are dirty and damaged, the front door doesn't fully close (making the space freezing in winter). On rainy or snowy days, water is tracked in and left pooling on the floor--creating a clear slipping hazard. Temperature control is a recurring issue. The AC doesn't work in the summer and the heat doesn't work in the winter. Over multiple days I informed staff that the studio was 62 degrees. Instead of addressing the problem, I was treated as a nuisance. The manager dismissed the issue, and I was ultimately labeled "disruptive" and told not to return simply for raising a legitimate concern about the environment. This was especially frustrating as I had attended twice a week for nearly three years. I stayed out of convenience despite ongoing issues. Since leaving, I've found several excellent studios nearby and regret not switching sooner. The teaching environment is concerning. The owner, Larissa, relies heavily on peer pressure in her classes, creating an uncomfortable and stressful atmosphere rather than a supportive one. In her jump board class, she threatens to restart the exercise if someone stops, making attendees feel anxious and discouraged, which is the opposite of what a safe fitness space should foster. Combined with unprofessional behavior during class (wearing furry slippers, yawning, and stretching), it left me feeling unsettled. Overall, this studio lacks basic upkeep, customer care, and professionalism. With many better options in the area, I would not recommend it. read more

I love that they offer both tower classes and reformer pilates in a very pleasant setting that promotes socialization with other classmates. I have also experienced many instructors over the years and I can honestly say that the ones here are superior. The reformers are in fine working condition - they could use a deep clean though. The straps are quite frayed and smell a bit. I'm extremely grateful for my experience taking Pilates classes, because the teacher, Blair, was awful at cueing, made no corrections to form/posture, and provided no modifications. He did not ask if anyone had injuries that required modifications, and did not seem at all concerned with the skill levels in the class. Nobody should be standing on the reformer in their first ever Pilates class, let alone doing so without *any* instruction at all. Several members stepped right into the carriage, and easily could have severely hurt themselves. It was quite obvious that several of the members in class had either never taken a Pilates class before, or had only ever take Blair's classes. I'm afraid they'll hurt themselves without appropriate corrections and instruction on what each exercise is supposed to feel like and the correct movements to be doing. Pilates focuses on slow and controlled exercise, not speed and overextending your body. If this was simply a boring class or just one I didn't enjoy for my own Pilates practice, I would try another instructor. But, after looking at dozens of similar past reviews (which I wish I would have done before booking), I don't trust a studio that knowingly puts members at risk by failing to correct an unsafe teacher's practices. I will not be returning to this studio and I highly encourage anyone interested in Pilates to look anywhere else. Club Pilates can be repetitive but at least they have safety protocols in place and classes rated for the appropriate skill levels. read more

If you want to take your conditioning to the next level, Blair Paulsey, is the Master Instructor you should take classes from. If you want to stay in your own world and not pay attention to his directives, it's best to take another instructor. I've read a few snarky reviews about Blair, but these are most likely from people who are taking Pilates because they think it's cool and that it will be super easy. When you do Pilates the right way - the way a Master Instructor will challenge you - it's not easy. You feel the burn in your abdomen, your legs, your arms. If you want to see change in your body in the form of a flatter stomach, lean arms and legs, you are well served to take instruction from a teacher who demands correct body placement. Having taking Pilates for the past 10 years, I have found that the absolutely best Pilates teachers are the ones that come from the world of dance, notably ballet. Prior to becoming a Pilates teacher, Blair was a professional ballet dancer. Other outstanding Pilates instructors at Core Burn Sutton that I've had the pleasure of taking classes from include Larysa Shelton, owner & teacher and Nicole Nerup. read more

This studio is across the street from me so when I saw it offered an introductory package, I signed up. This was my first experience with reformer Pilates. I've always been a mega former girly but was excited to give reformer Pilates a shot. With such a convenient location, if it went well I'd get a package when I couldn't make it to my mega former class. The place is clean and the front desk was pleasant enough. One of the biggest downsides is there's not a lot of reformers so classes book up super quick. It really forces you to have to book in advance but at the same time, has a very strict cancellation policy to favor the studio and a disadvantage to the customer. While reading the site on policies, it's stated a class has a 3 person minimum or the class is cancelled or you can pay a price for a semi private lesson. I find it cheap the studio will go to such lengths to avoid customers receiving a semi private/private lesson at a group price. They have a strict 24 hour cancellation fee that may coincide with a late cancellation fee/rebooking fee. I understand many studios have a fee for no-shows but I haven't heard about a late cancellation fee or rebooking fee. Even with a strict cancellation policy and ability to tack on multiple fees to customers, the website also stated they reserve the right to cancel any class at anytime, even within 24 hours. If that were to happen, you wouldn't be charged a cancellation fee (so generous)! This really rubbed me the wrong way. If you have a strict policy for your customers to adhere, the studio should hold itself to the same standard. At the very least, give an additional credit to clients whose class has been cancelled. Despite this, I went forward with the introductory package. There was one instructor I really liked. He had a great personality and was very knowledgeable. I notified him of my back injury and he was very helpful, knowledgeable, and made sure to check on my form throughout the class. I took classes with a few other instructors who were fine but I don't have anything to really say about their class. It wasn't the worst workout class but I didn't find the classes very challenging or highlight the weakness in my body from my injury to where I can understand how I need to strengthen and improve my movements. There are multiple complaints about a particular instructor who has a dog. I don't know his name but I know exactly who they're referencing. He continually gave me dirty looks when I was in the studio. The first time I assumed he might just happen be looking in my direction thinking about something unaware of his facial expression. Each time he was there, it happened. With that and his bad energy, I made sure to not book any of my classes with him. With all of that said, I didn't go on to take classes with Core Burn after my introductory package ended. The package was at a discounted rate which made the cons bearable, but to pay their regular priced packages/ memberships would be egregious. I know there's people out there who love the classes at the studio, but I'm not one of them. Even with the convenience of the studio being across the street, I don't think the classes are worth it. read more

My excitement turned to frustration when the Pilates studio canceled the 8:30 class I had booked. Instead of accommodating the inconvenience, it simply resulted in late fees and no further bookings on the end of Gympass (as per their late cancellation policy). Since the studio canceled last minute, and I was not able to rebook through gympass, I figured I'd speak to them in person. After walking 20 minutes to address this, I was met with dismissal and pressure to buy their classes even though I pay for a gympass membership that includes this class in their plan. The cancellation not only disrupted my plans but also left me with no workout for the day. It's disheartening that the studio made no effort to rectify a situation caused by their own cancellation. The reason I am leaving 3 stars is because I did not actually get to take the class, so I feel I cannot fully speak to the quality of the Pilates class. read more

I attended the class with a friend, and we both had an unpleasant experience with the instructor. He was dismissive and impatient with the both of us throughout the entire class. Not to mention that he also brought his yappy dog with him. We had previously taken another class at Core Burn, and have taken many reformer classes around the city. However, I have never had an instructor treat me with such contempt. Throughout the class, the instructor would not wait a beat for us to process his directions before becoming frustrated with us. Instead of providing helpful adjustments, he would call us out for not "listening."At one point, he rudely snapped at us even after correctly changing our springs, saying "Yeah I told you to do the red and yellow spring!" I can't stress how little patience he had for us to get each move -- It felt as though the only way to avoid his ridicule would be if we had come in with the class memorized. At the end of the class, he asked us if we had been there before, to which we replied that we had. He dismissively responded that classes are about "listening." Again, we regularly attend workout classes and have never been called out for not keeping up or experienced such an unwelcoming environment. I will never take a class again at this studio. read more

Great location for classic pilates on the reformer. Very clean and a very pretty ambiance with their chandeleirs and new equipment. Grippy socks are a must but regular socks work too (must have socks on). If you are looking for challenging classes, make sure to take Alaina's jump board class or anything taught by Stephanie Roy. read more

This studio is very clean and well kept. I have been to many Pilates classes and this studio looks almost new. Their staff at the front desk is very friendly, they have socks for sale in case you forget to bring your own pair. (Grip socks are recommended but not required, sock ARE requires.) The Tower/Reformer Class was a bit too easy for me. For that reason I do not think I will be coming back and this was my reasoning for a 4 star review. The instructor did not offer as many challenging/next level poses as I would have liked - similar to other studios. Also the studio had a private class going on in the front and the instructor was very loud - it was distracting and did not make for a relaxing environment. At $40 per class for drop in I was disappointed. There are not lockers but there are cubbies where you can place your belongings and hooks to hang your jacket. read more

Wow, I've been around to several pilates places, but this one I could say was the worst class I've ever taken. Even upon entering the place, I forgot a hair tie and asked the girl at the desk out front (since every pilates and workout place I've been to had extras...ie: BK pilates, solidcore, etc.). The girl was so confused and didn't even know where they could be because she didn't normally work at that location. Shouldn't front desk at least know the basics if they're going to be covering a different location?? The 11:30am today was with Blair Paulsey and he was REALLY rude. I was shocked with his diva attitude and abrasiveness. He was demonstrating the next exercise and used my reformer so I was standing to the side of it and he exclaimed "you need to get out of my way!" I've NEVER been spoken to in that manner in any pilates class I've ever been to. And I'm not even talking about HIIT / Bootcamp style talking. It was just plain impolite and discourteous. While he did come around correcting form, more than half the time it was correcting in a way where he was talking down to us and was haughty, annoyed, etc. if someone didn't have the correct spring or didn't get off the reformer the right way. It was to the point where I was NERVOUS because I didn't want to be unnecessarily scolded for no reason. There were some chatty older ladies in the class and at one point, he was like "BE QUIET, everyone! BE QUIET." I literally turned to the girl next to me with a shocked face because I couldn't believe at how awful of a teacher he was. Maybe he was having a bad day, who knows? But CP Burn was NOT worth the trek all the way out to 1st Ave. read more

This studio is awful. I wanted to try pilates for a long time and since CP Burn is right down the street from me, I decided to give it a try. The instructor was rude and did not seem to care that it was my first time on those machines. I ended up loosing my balance and fell off and really hurt myself. I hit my head and had a black and blue on my arm the size of a baseball. The instructor said " Oh you will be fine" and that was it. He did not care one bit that I was hurt and no one even called me to see how I was. Awful experience. To top it off their bathroom was not working, which is not great when you have mainly women attending your classes. I will never go back again and I hope this review deters anyone from going there.. Shame on you for your bad business practices and not caring about your students. read more

I am not surprised that this studio has such a terrible rating, with all of the bad reviews centered around their horrendous customer service. I was a very loyal customer who spent THOUSANDS of dollars at this studio. I had a package that was not fully used up yet and then got pregnant and was not medically cleared to perform this type of core-intensive workout. Upon learning I was pregnant, I asked for my package to be frozen for this medical reason and was denied. This is mind-blowing... every other fitness studio and gym will freeze memberships and packages for medical reasons. I reached back out to them after I gave birth and after I received postpartum clearance from my doctor and they refused to release the three classes that I HAD BOUGHT AND PAID FOR. They claimed that it took me "too long" to follow-up with them. Whoops, sorry that biology mandates a baby to grow for 9 months and then another 2 for postpartum clearance. THEY THEN WENT ON TO SAY THAT I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT PRIVATE CLASSES ($125+ per class!!) TO ACCOMMODATE MY PREGNANCY. They have lost a customer for life and I hope everyone who reads this will now know their discrimination and harassment towards pregnant customers. read more
