The workouts are phenomenal and yes, they're fun! They're fun Because you're not doing the same thing every day. I love the spontaneity of that work out. The coaches demonstrate each of the moves more than once and there are modifications for everything, so don't feel like you're going to die first time you work out. Take it at your pace and work from there. Trust me, if you try hard things those hard things will get easier over time and you can continually challenge yourself in so many ways. You can increase the incline on the treadmill, go faster on the rower, build your way up to lifting heavier hand weights on the floor, or even attempting a burpee. If you don't know how to use any of the equipment or need to work on your form, don't worry. All of the coaches are amazing and they will guide you through your first workouts and beyond. Cassie, Jess, Amanda, EJ, Jonathan, and Sam got your back!! And the front staff and studio manager, Shannon, will take care of you. I highly recommend OTF Stamford -- go Stamford Stallions!!

I would like to start off by saying I was a skeptic and didn't think I would stick with this. My…read morehusband signed me up for Orangetheory, and I truly believe it was the best gift he ever gave me. Before I go on about the workouts, I must talk about the amazing phenomenal staff at this gym. This is due to amazing management. You are greeted warmly by an amazing front desk staff and they are so informative. If I have questions they are happy to answer them or help me find that answer. There are too many to put every name on here but I can tell you they're all phenomenal which shows an outstanding management team. The atmosphere is very warm and cheerful & I personally thrive in these environments so this works great for me. Also, if anything is going on & you need assistance the staff is very accommodating from the management team to the front desk consultants. Now the coaches are phenomenal I feel like I get one on one coaching in a class of 30. I never worked out a day in my life so, I was worried I wouldn't catch on but the coaches are always walking around giving tips on how to help & stay safe while you get the most out of your workout. They play different genres of music so it's fun getting to listen to all the different music as you're working out. There are several coaches at this gym so you can always find a coach that you feel is more geared towards what you want. For my work schedule which is ever fluctuating, I love the flexibility and schedules. I work out more with Coach Amanda as I love her style of music and how she cheers you on and she has an amazing energy so I take her class two days a week. I also like to change it up so the other two classes I take coach EJ who has an awesome zen vibe about him & he is really cool & coach Jess who has such an up beat you got this even if you don't attitude that I really enjoy taking her class as well. Coach Marissa was my very first coach at OTF when I thought I could wake up for morning classes and her energy in the morning is amazing I just realized early mornings aren't for me so I unfortunately can't take her class. There are also other coaches and I'm sure they're amazing as everyone I've worked with is exactly that amazing. The workouts are on point you get tread mills, rowing machine, and the weight floor. I love the structure as I am one who again thrives in this type of environment. I love the hour long workouts and getting to do a little of everything I feel like I accomplished so much in that hour. I love the heart rate monitor and that it tracks what I'm doing and I can proudly go home and show my husband how my workout was for the day on the OTF app on my phone. The equipment is perfect. The gym is spotless, always clean and they have all the necessities you need there. Oh and I should put in they have very cool challenges where you can choose to sign up or not if you do sign up you get tees & other cool stuff. I signed up and enjoyed being apart of the group the cool tees, hats, etc are definitely an added bonus. I will tell you if you're looking for a great atmosphere a great work out and great people don't walk run to Orangetheory fitness because you will reach your goals. I can guarantee the six months that I've been there I have seen a difference, I feel the difference and I'm much happier for it.

The bootcamp classes are challenging and will help get you into shape no matter how athletic you are today. All of the teachers- I took classes with Ellis and Reggie- are extremely patient and supporting. They take the time to make sure you are doing the exercises properly, and give custom workouts even within one class to make sure everyone is appropriately challenged based on their fitness level. Last but not least, you will no doubt become great friends with the other bootcampers. It's a supportive group of people which is just about the best motivation you can have to get out of the house and make it to the gym. The unlimited monthly class pass is the best deal and is worth every penny. Do yourself a favor and join this gym!

I'll give them this: It's an efficient workout. But damn, they sure make you feel like a cog in the…read morefitness-for-profit-not-wellness machine. Describing OTF as an impersonal exercise experience is an understatement. "Coach" is what they call the hour-long session facilitators which is pretty funny because they are just human stop watches who are programed to regurgitate platitudes about working hard and reaching goals to the blasting soundtrack of medlied synthesized remixes of synthesized remixes of occasionally recognizable pop radio tunes. There is one in particular at the Norwalk store (and it IS a store) who sounds like Lady Gaga as a state fair auctioneer. She is truly insufferable. There are a couple who let their humanity escape during the 3-minute stretching activity that wraps up each session. If you have even the hint of an injury, STAY AWAY. It is clear that the workouts are generated by corporate teams (I suspect they include more marketer and shrinks than fitness gurus) in some headquarter office. Lip service is paid to obvious modifications such as push-ups from your knees instead of toes, but the "coaches" simply do not have time to address anyone's individual needs. They often have three separate groups working on activities that are measured in increments of seconds. Each class accommodates 25 participants. There is no cushion between sessions. They run about a dozen classes per weekday. The full price is $30 per session but discounts for volume purchases and monthly subscriptions are available. I bought a package of 30 sessions on a whim, and it felt like a ball and chain until I used them up. No matter what you hear from OTF enthusiasts who distinguish themselves by driving around town with OTF car magnets, there is NOTHING fun about this workout. Expect to spend 20-30 minutes on a treadmill facing a wall, up to 20 minutes on a rower staring at the asses of the 12 people on treadmills, and the balance of your session (except for the aforementioned 3 minute "stretch") doing "floor work" which often involves dumbbells and no guidance other than an GIF on a computer monitor. Leave your headphones at home since "coaches" will be shouting time increments at you over the music throughout the entire workout. Oh. Right. The Orange part. You earn "splat" points when your heart rate exceeds 83%. This shows up in orange or red on the monitors that display each participants' heart rate monitor activity. Oh yeah, you have to buy a $99 OTF heart rate monitor to participate. No other brand will do. The goal is to earn at least 12 "splat" points during your 60 minute workout. But seriously, you don't need OTF to earn "splat" points. You can exercise anywhere with any old heart rate monitor and a phone app to produce the same (and much more pleasant) experience without the high price tag and the gimmicky name. Try to stay above the 83% range for 25% of a one-hour workout and you have a DIY OTF workout. Plus, you get to listen to your own music, revel in your own thoughts and maybe even spend a little time outdoors! As a person who is fascinated by the science of efficiency, I have to admit that I admire the organization. But don't be fooled for one second: Orange Theory Fitness was not designed to support fitness, it was designed to support Orange Theory. OTF participants, as the Phil Elliott character says in the end of the movie North Dallas Forty, are "the equipment." If that works for you, go for it. It felt super icky to me.

OTF in general is a great workout and I've had a good experience at the Norwalk location. I personally have an issue with getting bored with routine and repetition so that is where OTF has really helped me; no two workouts are the same and you never know what to expect on that day. The coaches in Norwalk are great and are very motivational/supportive. Though it is rather expensive, I do feel like it's been worth it for me.
