Not a good wine tasting experience. The woman helping us was a bit condescending. VERY RUDE! She said if we have been to Italy the Tuscany region then we should know what we're drinking, ugh what. She was horrible! I think her name is Mia. She was trying to pull that I know better than you attitude. Wine tasting is a very personal choice. It's all an individual taste! She was very annoying. The winery itself is gorgeous, but the actual wine just wasn't good. At all. I hate to say it, but this was some of the worst wine that I've tasted in a while and definitely the worst that I've tasted while on Apple Hill. Let's start off with the goodie-goodies, shall we?! There is no doubt that their estate is beautiful. In fact, this estate has been one of my favorites to visit in Apple Hill this far. The drive from the road into their vineyards is stunning! The views are amazing and the vineyards are just beautiful. The indoor tasting room (although currently closed) is super cute and inviting. Where this place really shines is their super spacious patio! So many different spots to lounge around under the trees, and they have FIRE PITS! Oh yes! You best believe that I parked myself right next to one of those fire pits and it was so comfy. The staff is super sweet and friendly, and the other patrons are also really nice. People were following the COVID guidelines here which was refreshing to see. During COVID, they're doing flights only and are operating by appointment with very limited space for walk-ins. I made an appointment online about a week in advance and it was super easy, but they charge $10 to reserve a table and another $10 for the wine flight (basically a $20 tasting fee). The good thing is, they actually do pour a good amount of wine in their wine flights. And now for the bad... So as I previously mentioned, you'll pretty much be paying $20 for a seat and a wine flight. The bad news is, these fees aren't waived if you purchase a bottle. Now look, I understand that times are tough and all... but even many Sonoma and Napa Valley wineries will waive the tasting fee if you are purchasing wine. And $20 to taste in this area is just extremely high. If I wanted to pay $20 for a tasting, I'd go to Napa where the quality of the wine is actually worth that price. Plus, none of sommeliers explained anything about the wines or made any recommendations. You're basically going in blind. This brings me to my next faux pas; that wine. I've just gotta be brutally honest here. It was terrible. Not even worth the $20 that I paid to taste them. And who knows, maybe I just didn't choose the right kind of wines. Maybe my palate is just different. But, the fact that all of them were gross though makes me think that this is just their style. As a courtesy to those who are looking to taste here, I will break down what I tried: Pinot Gris - Way too oaky for a Pinot Gris with very little acidity despite its' description. Pinot Noir - Extremely earthy and slightly tannic near the finish. For a Pinot, I found it to be heavier than it needed to be. Barbera - This was the worst of them all which is ironic because the Barbera in this area is usually top notch. I should have paid more attention to the description on this one. This tasted like straight up tobacco. Very bold and unenjoyable. The "dried leaves" should have been a giveaway, but I wasn't really paying attention when I chose this for my wine flight. Primitivo - Just way too earthy and bold for a Primitivo. I wanted that smooth and silkiness but instead I just got a mouthful of tannins. Luckily I brought some pie from Boa Vista to help me drink some of these (had to throw out the Barbera entirely and couldn't finish any of the reds completely). So again, maybe it was my palate or maybe this year the wines just aren't the best. But judging from what I tasted, I most likely wouldn't come back here for a tasting in the future. read more

Well, I wish I had a updated experience and better thought of the location. But! I was again proved right. Took some friends up here after I hyped them about the location an beauty of this place, we where treated like 3rd class citizens and it was appalling!!! . The hostess at check in treated my friends who are BLACK and Latino DISRESPECTFULLY and ignored us standing at their booth for 5 min before addressing us with a very poor a rude " Hi what's up?" What's up?!! Who greats clients like this?? We where seated in a corner an then forgotten about! I had to three times get up for someone to replenish our tastings! Sitting an waiting 30 min between tastings is too long!! I don't know if it's just the community up there that has this mindset, but it's very gut wrenching to say the least. and I brought these lovely ladies up here cause I hadn't been in a while, and I talked very highly about this place. We were greeted with disgusted faces, rolled eyes, and we were looked at like we were a hindrance, and not like as a respected guest . We had made a reservation a month in advance, showed up 20 minutes on time early, and were told there was no place for us to sit, after waiting ten min to be greeted again rudely. when, in fact, there was four tables available, and two picnic spots. When we were finally seated 10 minutes after our reservation time we literally had nobody to come and talk to us to give us the rundown on the wines that were on special, we had to literally get up and go inside to get our wine. And when we were finally approached 30 minutes into our time by staff, they pretty much acted like how much longer are you going to be here and when are you gonna leave? I'm very disappointed and embarrassed, and appalled by this place! I was up there that day with them to discuss booking a wedding venue possibly, but I can see having my wedding somewhere where my family, friends an guests are going to be treated disrespectfully and if not worse!! read more

Day date with the hubby to Apple Hill and this was stop number one. Super easy to find... but just FYI the driveway is super skinny so go slow driving in and out of the winery. We really liked how small and family like this place is, we go to a lot of wineries and this place be will definitely fall into the top. They really take pride in the place, it's so nice and kept beautiful which I really appreciate. We did a wine tasting and let me start by saying the tasting room is extremely nice and well maintained. The bar where you taste everything is just beautiful! I was very surprised by the price of the tasting... it was about $30 for the two of us, not bad at all and the gal that helped us was amazing!!! She knew so much about the grapes, winery, location, I was just overall impressed with her. Now the wine... yes! I love it, we bought two bottles to bring home, everything we tried, which was the entire tasting menu was outstanding. The cutest winery!! Beautiful grounds, super spacious, tons of seating. We were lucky that they still served us at 430pm when they close at 5pm. They do a hard close so no dilly dallying, you actually have to leave. I expected them to serve apple wines but they only serve grape wines. I see the appeal of stopping here. They have a cool pond, antiques around, a fire brick oven, misters, and large picnic tables. So of the clients do not like if you bring your children. It is a weird dynamic of families and angry people who don't want to see children. The wines are just okay. I think most come for ambience. We stopped by the winery on our way to Tahoe at the insistence of a friend. I am glad I followed his recommendation. This place is well hidden on the side of a mountain. There is so much to like at this winery - the open garden with a lot of fruit trees and, the amazing staff, and the wine! We got a few flights to taste along with some cheese. And had a picnic and the best part is you can get your own food. No one came to pressure us into getting more wine or to disturb us. We laughed and enjoyed the wine for hours. It was a lot of laughs (the wine might have helped too). On our way back we picked up a case of wines and I have to be back for more sometime soon. read more

$5 for a tasting of six wines?? Count us in! Boeger winery is a cute, family friendly winery that's been around since the gold rush era. While they've updated the main store, the original one is still there with old pictures of the estate inside. They can get busy during fall as everyone heads to Apple Hill, but this is still a great stop just off the highway! All of their wines were delicious, though my favorite were definitely hangtown (a sweet, fruity white) and their Sauvignon Blanc. For those who prefer red wines, they've got plenty of award-winning options! After you taste your wines you can stroll around the property or enjoy a picnic on one of their many benches! There's also a blacksmith shop that's sometimes open and lots of shady fig trees to sit under. This is a great stop! Bring some cheese and salami, buy a bottle of wine, and enjoy the crisp air! read more

We stopped here about 2pm on a Sunday with relatives from out of town. The grounds are amazing! There seems to be ample parking and the directional signs to the tasting room are helpful. One of the employees in the tasting room was helpful in explaining the various tasting options and we were impressed that they offered six tastings for only $5.00. As we enjoyed our wine we wandered the grounds. It was a great way to spend an hour or so of our day. The employees were accommodating and helpful informative and my wife found a bottle of wine to take home and enjoy as well. read more

First let me say, I'm not an expert at wine... but I know what I like. I also enjoy the venue and hospitality of a winery, brewery or restaurant as much as I like the food and beverage sometimes! I brought my family up to Apple Hill for the peach festival for the first time not really aware of the vast wine industry that resides in this beautiful part of California. After partaking in the peach festivities, we found ourselves wanting to check out Boeger (after we drove by on the way up the hill) because of the absolutely gorgeous, sprawling vineyards you can see from the road. It did not disappoint. It was brutally hot but we found shade outside by the pond, probably making it 10 degrees cooler and enjoyed our flights, favoring the white and Rose considering the weather... and shared a bottle of Rose with some of our recently purchases fruit and some cheese we bought in the tasting room! The young lady who served us in the tasting room was charming and moved quickly since she knew I had my little boy with us, but not so fast that we felt rushed. Side note- the proximity to the rows of grapes made for some awesome pictures with the family that we didn't expect. I was told this is an amazing place during the fall so we'll try to get back up here then in September or October! read more

I thought we were in Placerville not Sonoma/Napa... that doesn't encourage anyone to purchase your wine. I've literally never heard of that before. On the positive side, the surroundings of winery has a reasonable ambience. It is surrounded by trees and a very small pond. On the negative side, 1) the winery tasting prices are much higher than other wineries in the area, 2) all wineries wave the tasting fee with one bottle purchase, whereas here you need to buy 6 bottles, 3) the service was extremely poor. Walked in to do our usual tasting close to their closing time, was told "no we will not serve you." So disappointing and quite rude. Our loyalty will be no longer. We recently visited our friends in Folsom to meet their new puppy! So of course we wanted to take him everywhere with us that weekend. One of those places happened to be Boeger Winery. First off, yes, Boeger Winery is pet friendly. Your K9 companions are welcomed both in the tasting room and on the grounds, which include the patio and the picnic area. Just be sure they're well behaved, of course! This right here was one of the main reasons I loved it here so much. Wine tastings at a beautiful winery is one thing, but to be able to bring along your pup makes the experience so much better. We arrived in the mid-afternoon and found paring without a hassle. There was plenty of parking with views of endless rows of vineyards. We then walked around the picnic area trying to find a nice spot for us. We had a difficult time choosing where we wanted to sit because this place was absolutely gorgeous. Everywhere we looked was a great location with breathtaking sceneries. However, we eventually decided on a nice spot right below the old Blacksmith shop. We brought our own food for our picnic. As for drinks, our friend, who was also a club member, bought two bottles of wine from their tasting room. The sunny weather also made for a relaxing and fun experience. Boeger Winery offers breathtaking sceneries everywhere you go, from the very beginning at their parking lot all the way down to the picnic area. Be sure to also bring your pups along! Whether you want do a wine tasting or have a picnic like us, I'm sure you will have a great time. We all had an amazing time here and I would love to come back the next time we visit. read more

My husband and I have been club members at various wineries throughout the years, from Napa, Sonoma, Saratoga and Gilroy. When we moved to Folsom a couple of years ago, we stumbled upon Boeger Winery. We were instantly in love with everything about this winery - the grounds, the staff and of course, the wine! We immediately signed up as members at our first visit, and have enjoyed events such as Cork It! (where you blend your own wine and bottle it) and members-only gatherings. We recently attended our first "Woga" event, which is wine + yoga (the reverse of course; could get comical and messy otherwise). Our favorites are the Flora, Chardonnay, Estate Barbera, and Meritage Reserve. They have picnic grounds you can reserve for a picnic as well as a beautiful outdoor tasting area. Sit by the pond in one of the Adirondack chairs as you taste. Sublime. If you're heading up to the Apple Hill area, make sure you don't miss the turn to head into Boeger. read more

Yes, as everyone seems to mention in their reviews, this is a beautiful, peaceful and serene location for a Winery! With that said, I was here in Winter on a chilly but sunny day so serene is the perfect way to describe my visit. Visitors were very few but I understand during the spring and summer time...loud and vibrant might be a better description! I am unsure how a large amount of people can be accommodated in the tasting room but that was not an issue during my visit. Another notable fact...it is located in the well-known Apple Hill area of the Foothills. Given the right time of year...one could combine apple and wine tastings on the same day! I was a bit disappointed in the tasting room staff. They just did not seem enthused nor engaged. Our main pourer was not overly friendly nor eager to tell us much about the wines we were tasting. However, we did have Danielle step in at one point to pour a round...and she was delightful and full of energy. Wish we would have had her the entire time. Five dollars for 6 pours is what we selected. And because of the cold weather we chose all red wines. Being somewhat of a wine person...(ok I am a wino...lol), I know what I like and what I do not! Unfortunately, none of the wines rocked my world. Their flagship wine is a Barbara. But the only wine I found I could enjoy was the Zinfandel. And we did buy a bottle to go with the picnic lunch we brought. Otherwise, no purchase would have been made. On the very positive side...these wines obviously appealed to some...because a few visitors were buying cases and loading them in their cars. I was happy to see that because it really is a charming and beautiful winery. And obviously the owners are nice enough to allow visitors to bring in food to consume. Many wineries will not do that. So kudos and thank you for that nice gesture. Food is also available for purchase. And again...so many places on this gorgeous property to relax and sip and just enjoy your day. Booger was the last winery we visited on our trip, based on the recommendation of our server at Lava Cap. We were able to make a reservation on Sunday morning for a 3:15pm tasting, so I appreciated not having to plan ahead much in order to enjoy their tasting room. I loved the ambiance of the garden and lawn, there are different types of chairs and tables and seats that allow you to pick what vibe you're going for. We started at a picnic table for our tasting and then moved to some Adirondack chairs by the pond when we were ready to sip a glass of our preferred before heading out. The property has a fairy-cottage like vibe, with little doors in the bottom of trees and small water features. The wines we tasted were delicious, and we came home with six to tide us over until our next visit: we bought some rose, the primitivo red, and pinot gris were delicious and I look forward to sipping them on my own patio in the near future! read more

We did end up buying one of there bottles of red wine. And there store and everything was very clean and very pretty also. Very nice winery in the area. Came for a Friday evening with music. Lovely event. Tasting area and patio had a laid back country style. Stuff was also relaxed and welcoming. We tried an assortment of reds and whites. I was partial to the primitivo, which was similar to a zin but a little lighter. There was a food truck there for the music event. Spent our 3-day Valentines Weekend here Placed our reservation about a month in advance. Reservations last 2hrs max. They have a tent & fire pits set up so even though it rained we were perfectly still able to do our wine tasting. Tables are spaced out & wiped down before and after.
