I had a crazy craving for mussels and lots of them so I looked online and found a place close by that had a special going for all you can eat mussels. When you walk into the place there's tons of amazing cuts of aged meats on display that totally make your mouth water and get you in that steakhouse feel the Devore is nice and very upscale so it all felt like a really good place to be. Once seated we were informed that it was also ladies night and that there would be a variety of items at 10$. After a couple minutes of looking through the menu the waitress came back with a trolley and a display of the different cuts of meat and what was available. We were informed that the fillet mignon of 4oz was available for 10$ for ladies night. I couldn't help myself and ordered a fillet and the mussels and a ceaser salad. The salad was very plain and nothing to rave about just your average ceaser with two strips of bacon on it. The fillet came with the choice of three sauces I opted for the mushroom which was really tasty. The fillet itself was small but tasted really good however I had asked for a medium well cooking and what I got was defo well done. The mussels are available in two sauces a classic marinara or a white brandy sauce, I got the brandy one since I tend to favor white sauces. The first round of mussels had an overly oceany smell and weren't great we let the waitress know who sent her manager over and changed them for us the second batch was suspiciously way better but I found a couple pieces of the plastic netting used to store mussels in my plate, by the third order everything was right. Overall this place is know for their meats and I suggest sticking to that ladies come in Thursday for your specials and guys come on in on Wednesday's cause it's your night too !

Our server was really good and the food was really good. We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. We ordered a French onion soup, steak Diane, and a beef Wellington. The entrees came with choice of salad. We tried one of each , house Gibby salad and the blue cheese wedge. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. The prices seemed fair for a steakhouse and for the amount of food we ate.

Walking in, the atmosphere struck me--it's dark and cozy, but still well lit enough to feel inviting. We were seated right away. I was a little worried about how we were dressed, but the vibe turned out to be pretty flexible. We saw everything from nicely dressed couples to a bachelor party--complete with the groom-to-be in a hotdog costume! The menu was straightforward but impressive. Every entrée comes with your choice of a Gibbys salad or a wedge salad with blue cheese, plus a potato (do yourself a favor and get the Monte Carlo--you'll thank me later). For my appetizer, I ordered the French onion soup. I've said before that certain restaurants have the "best" one, but this version may actually take the crown. It wasn't oily, and it was perfectly topped with a generous, melty layer of cheese--the way French onion soup should be. I followed that with the Gibbys salad and a 12-ounce filet. I love a good filet, and this one hit the mark. My husband went for the lamb with the wedge salad and enjoyed both thoroughly. By the end, we were far too stuffed for dessert, so we called it a night. If you're looking to splurge on a memorable, romantic dinner in Montreal, Gibbys is the place to go

We ordered a variety of things (including things we wouldn't usually order to try and enjoy the full experience). We had a special that they were having that night similar to a charcuterie board, croquettes, hangar steak, lobster spaghetti, fries, bread and pickle, and a scallop soup type dish (I forget what it was called and honestly it was my absolute favorite most unique dish). For $89 per 6oz serving, I expect the meat will be cooked perfectly and of top-notch quality. The bread served with escargot is hard and chewy; scallop soup is lumpy and lukewarm; the double down foie gras is just two pieces of hard bread which barely has any foie gras; duck breast sliced into 6 thin pieces serves with breakfast sausage; the meat is cold, covered by a gluey sauce; the presentation is disastrous. Asparagus is cold, and the cheese sauce on top is cold too. Maybe it's supposed to be cold? But it is weird to serve as a side of a meat course.

We got the chicken satay with an awesome peanut satay sauce, the deep fried cauliflower, and the truffle potatoes. The truffle sauce for the potatoes was amazing. Very complex and just enough to split. The main course with the braised short ribs with the mashed potatoes. You don't have the upgrade the side - the mashed are a staff favourite. When the main course of braised short ribs came, it was amazingly tender, fall off the bone, and the sweet sauce was just right. The creamy mashed potatoes and veggies made a perfect finish. No more wonderful steak Philly on the Friday. Most of what was offered on that daily menu is permanently gone. They added many different poutine that actually existed before but part of a secret menu you could learn from their social network page. Some starter too. They change the recipe of some of the food. The Mac N cheese is now more creamier and the cheese is more present and flavourful. I never had it by itself, but in the poutine Mac TeX, it's a miss for me. It used to be the poutine I always take when I go there, poutine Mac TeX. Tried it 4 times already since the switch, always the same and I don't like it unfortunately. Maybe others don't. From the post they made on Instagram stating that it was now creamier due to popular demand, I guess that's how people like it. But I think people was taking it by itself and not into a poutine (I never see much people eating a mac te when I'm there). Also the new Mac N cheese on the Mac TeX make it you taste nothing except the creamy liquid cheese from the Mac N cheese, nothing else. I normally add the homemade steak sauce available on the table in the poutine and when I tried it with the new recipe, it wasn't good. I also trie the dirty Poutine. I totally forgot what it is. There's like 2 sauce, I think it's meat sauce? Sorry I really forget. It was good, but about half way through, I was done with the taste just like the current Mac TeX. I still finished it though. Again, it's not bad, everyone has different taste and I started by liking it. I had the same experience when eating the smashburger poutine after eating a smash burger. Don't do it, take either one, not both unless your really into the taste of smashburger cause that's the only thing you taste. Last time I went, I took again the smashburger double cheese and bacon, a must for me, and I took a regular poutine. First time in what, 2 years and at least 30 visit that I take the regular one. It was good. I do miss my og Mac TeX but it's a good replacement. The bonus is it cost about 10$ less and fill less, so I was able to take something off the desert menu for the first time. I toon the chocolate cake and it was very good. The service is always good when I go there. It might be a bit a miss when it's overbooked specially if your table is hidden In a corner (happened a bit in the past). The only reason I bring from 5 to 4 stars is only because I prefered the old menu and old recipe. I did talk to a staff last time about the Mac TeX recipe and was told sometime it's because of new chef. I guess he wasn't aware that the recipe actually change, he did seemed new since I hadn't seen him before. I'll talk to jack or one of the owner last time, not to bad mouth, simply to have feedback from customer on the menu.

My father ordered a shrimp and scallop platter with 5 shrimp and 3 scallops on a bed of rice... just not generous at all. Honestly - not the best dining experience as there are not many choices and I believe that the decor and ambiance is for an older crowd. I really can't give more than 2 stars as the place just gives off a better impression than what it really is. The waiter was nice though.
