As we were walking around town, we decided to stop in for one of their famous margaritas. Nate, the bartender, did not disappoint. The substantial margaritas were delicious, and he's been here for 22 years so he had great advice for things to do. We came to red Lodge October 14, and after having read that the Beartooth Pass will be open until the end of the month, looked forward to driving it. Unfortunately, it closed Columbus Day weekend. Nate had suggestions of alternative routes that were just as beautiful although not as dangerous. He also told us where to get bear spray! Super place! To begin with the wait staff was super friendly and very professional. We walked in about 30 minutes before closing and Mia was like "it's cool, you have plenty of time". How cool is that, you hardly ever have people like that on a Monday! She sat us down and Canyon came over and helped us select the meal. Very disappointed with my recent experience here. The staff was very rude and short with us, from the young host upfront to the older "hippie" waitress that forgot about us for over 20 minutes. We ordered a soda and coffee but my cup was only half full of lukewarm burnt coffee that had been sitting on the burner for who knows how long. We decided to leave but when the older waitress saw us paying our tab at the bar she got very defensive and was asking us if "there was a problem". There was no need for her hostility. Once to get our order and once to pay for the bill - which was 50$ about 14$ more than expected. We each got a Long Island with our meals and that's it. - the food was not good. You would be better off stopping at the corner store around the corner and making it yourself. Even if you have no skill I'm sure you could make a better meal than they can. Don't let the name fool you. Bogarts has the best Mexican food & margaritas. We started with a coconut margarita & a jalapeno. The coconut one is rimmed in toasted coconut that was so good that we asked for a side of it! Jalapeno margarita was just spicy enough to add flavor. For dinner we had chili rellanos & chili Verde. The rellanos were unique in that they were wrapped in a "won ton" wrapper. This light, crispy outside complimented the flavor of the chili which was cooked perfectly(not mushy) and the cheese was semi firm(i think goat) which made the rellano the best I've ever had. Waitress was a doll and super attentive. Chips and salsa were bland. Salsa was water and little to no flavor. Chips tasted like store bought corn chips of a generic brand. Decided not to try the Mexican food since the chips and salsa were so bland and being from San Diego we are used to very good Mexican food. Decided on a burger to be safe. It also seems that this place is run by a great manager who goes above and beyond to make sure this place is run well.
