I luckily stopped off the highway for gas within a short drive of Bogey's. The menus for both the shakes/malts and even food was overwhelming. Lucky I went in, since I would have held up the drive through line while I looked. Ultimately when I feel stumped with too many options, I ask for a recommendation and surprisingly I was told to try the wraps... not the type of thing I was planning on getting, but I went for it anyway. As I waited inside, there was plenty to look at on the walls (I especially enjoyed the ruby slipper display) and realized this was the kind of place I'd have been a huge fan of as a kid. I think it was an Asian style chicken... with crispy freshly cooked veggies, ample chicken, and a nice savory sauce. I also went for the 'special' shake of the week, the strawberry banana, which provided plenty of enjoyment as I zipped along and continued on my road trip. Our 1st experience at Bogey's was disappointing. My wife & I ordered two #1 Value Meals, which included two double cheeseburgers, fries, mozzarella sticks, and two milk shakes. The milkshakes we ordered were chocolate chip & chocolate chip cookie dough. They gave us the wrong milk shake and in that shake we found a hair around the lid. We've often driven by and wondered if it might be a good place. Last Saturday when much of Salina was without electricity Bogeys became very popular! It was so busy I didn't want to take up their time asking a hundred questions about the uncommon menu items that have no description. We may try to return at a less busy time and enjoy the experience better. It has a nice outside dining area as well as a small inside area. It is an easy place to drive by without noticing. A well known staple in Salina for many many years. It has both positives and negatives. Pros: * The food is really good, especially the burgers. * The price to value is above average. Double bacon cheeseburger, fries, a drink will only set you back about $7, and you'll be full. * This place has nastolgic value. You don't stay in business this long unless you are doing something good and developed a loyal following. Cons: * The menu size. Now variety is the spice of life, but honestly their menu is so large it causes multiple problems, which I'll describe in a moment. * Speed of service. This is a huge sticking point with me. I would probably visit here far more often than 2 or 3 times a year, but every time I go it's a 20 minutes affair just to get the food and that is when they aren't even that busy. Now this isn't a fast food joint like McDonalds but 20 minutes for a hamburger is not really acceptable. It's made to order food I get that, but so is Wendy's and they don't take that long. The biggest problem is the lack of organization amonst the employees. There is no real flow to the order process. 3 people making drinks for one register, then having to go find the person who ordered the drink and so on. I'll say if you are looking for good food and you don't mind waiting forever then this is a good place to stop. If you are thinking about stopping for lunch and you have less than an hour, probably better not. read more

The restaurant/ice cream shop is very pretty inside, very Victorian. The prices are amazingly inexpensive; $2.15 for shake or a malt, so thick you need a spoon. My husband chose a Banana shake and I went classic chocolate malt. If we didn't have other plans (getting a bag (or two or three!) of cozies), I would have enjoyed the tree covered patio. It looked very inviting, shaded by trees. They have big dry erase boards covered with varieties of - shake/malt options like peanut butter chocolate chip or strawberry cheesecake...yum! Bogey's was a reccomendation from a friend for when I visited Salina. I had a burger, fried okra and a raspberry cheesecake shake. The food was great, the worst complaint I could make was the okra tasted a little bland, but it didn't deter the overall restaurant. I would definitely visit this place again, albeit sparingly. While on a lightning speed cross country road trip, I swung through Salina, Kansas to buy a pair of shorts and some flip flops. While at the register, I asked the teenager behind the counter if he knew of a quick local joint that I could swing by to get a bite to eat. He mentioned this little burger joint, and I went. Armed with an arm load of clothes, a full stomach, and a request to change in their bathroom, I walked on into what looks like any other chain burger joint...only it's not. The burger wasn't super special, but it was well cooked, simple, and tastey. I like that in a burger. The fries were pretty good too. The service? It was like everything else I found in Kansas, really pleasant folks, really pleasant to be around, and really helpful. The girl behind the counter happily pointed me to the restroom, took my order, and had my stuff ready to go in record time. Will I go again? Not likely, as I don't find myself in Salina Kansas save for this one time in 35 years. Would I? I sure would; it'd be exactly what hits the spot if you're trying to avoid the big name chain fast food places while putting a priority of getting as much road behind you as soon as possible. My husband and I made a special trip from Kanapolis Lake to eat at Bogeys for the first time in many years. We were looking forward to the good food. Such a disappointment. We won't be going back, nor will we recommend the place ever again to family and friends driving home from Colorado. The wait staff who took our order was the rudest young man I believe I have ever dealt with in a restaurant. I wish Bogey's would go nationwide I love this place so much. I started going here when I worked in EMS and we would take patients to Salina. My partner told me about this awesome burger joint I just HAD to try. Thank goodness I listened to him. When I think "Bogey's" two things come to mind... Burgers and Onion rings. Both are without question the best I've had. I've had other things there, but whenever I'm in Salina I make it a priority to stop at this place and have a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. The atmosphere inside is divey and classic burger joint. I love it. It would be a great addition to the show on Food Network called "Diners, Drive ins, and Dives" with Guy Fieri. I've also been known to just sit in the parking lot while I eat and watch the incredibly long lines develop in the drive-thru. The other food is awful; it's all frozen and packaged this and that, reheated to imperfection: the "steak and cheddar" sandwich has no "cheddar" anywhere-- it's steak and cheese sauce, not real cheese as implied. My 8-year-old didn't even like it. Burgers are passable; the fries, not good at all. So, hey, get the hot food somewhere else and stop at Bogey's for the shakes and malts! They're awesome. read more

I had heard great things about Bogey's and decided to try it. They have a pretty big menu. A lot of choices for burgers and other sandwiches. They offer a 7 patty burger even. The homemade shake menu would make any ice cream place jealous. They have a massive a selection. I gave it three stars due to what I ordered. I plan to go back and try the shakes or other food. I ordered a simple bacon cheese burger and fries. Nothing spectacular about the burger, patty, seasoning or flavor. It was (as one yelper said) mediocre in my opinion. Good food. Good shakes. Sub par service. Skip the drive thru if you want food. Kitchen is slow and they will ask you to pull forward even if they no longer have spots to park in. I really like the BLT wrap there, probably the best in town. Sadly it takes them forever to make it. Okay, this was an awesome stop! I was worried about the food not being great, because of other reviews, but I thought perhaps they were just used to the taste of msg and fast-food additives. Maybe I was right or maybe it's just hard to make a good choice from the menu options. Not sure, but we were all glad we stopped here. I wouldn't call it fast food, but it wasn't horribly slow. The young man taking our order was nice, as well as patient. Given the menu, you can make 2 inferences: 1. hamburgers are their specialty, probably a better bet than chicken or whatever (but they also have a wide variety of fried foods, so maybe the fricken is really good) 2. Suped-up hamburgers are their specialty--so, a plain burger might just be...plain here. Go ahead and be adventurous! Zombie burger was awesome. The cheese that was stuffed into the poppers--or maybe it was the ghost cheese--was awesome. The Malibu sauce was yummy (but mayo based, so the hubs was not interested). Not especially spicy, but I'm very tolerant of capsaicin. My mouth was entertained and my belly was satisfied. The jalapeno burger was great, too! They loaded hubs' burger with TONS of japs, & they were good peppers. Hubs was pleasantly surprised with his burger. Pleasant heat for someone who enjoys about a 3.5 or 4 on a spicy-food scale of 1-5. Kids got cheeseburgers for 1.59. Great! We shared an order of fries, which were good. Maybe slightly tough, but tasted fine. I added a bit of salt, but they didn't really absolutely need it. Overall, we had a great meal for the family totaling less than $15. Then, we ended up getting ice cream cones and a mint Oreo shake, which was enjoyed by all on the outdoor patio. The kids liked the decor inside. Would definitely return here.
