The lodge/cabin is cozy and adorable. There is a fireplace in the center of the main room. The outside deck was spruced up with white Christmas lights and it looked really nice. The deck is a perfect place for pictures and over looks a field. The backyard perfectly fits a white tent with plenty of room for people to move about the grounds. Parking is limited in front of the lodge and there is construction currently on the road in front which turns to road to a one lane road. I would love to come to more events here, rustic chic!

First - this is an amazing park…read more 1. Soccer fields everywhere!!! 2. Cricket, I walk by on the weekends and watch the matches - i miss cricket! 3. The walking trails are well maintained and both bikers and walkers are friendly! This is an amazing park. With indoor tennis, indoor pool as well as outdoor tennis, and outdoor pool. A water recreation area. Soccer fields and baseball/softball diamonds as well as a huge picnic area. This part has something from everyone! There are two open gyms - one with 4 courts for beginners and intermediate players and the other with 3 courts for advanced players. In addition to drop-ins, free beginners clinics are also provided on Fridays between 8:30 am and 10 am. These helpful clinics are conducted by advanced player volunteers and they are very beneficial for those who are interested in learning to play pickleball for the first time. Pickleball is offered indoor at Bohrer Activity Center during Fall, Winter and Spring sessions. For the summer months, it is moved outdoor to Diamond Farms Park, Gaithersburg. For each indoor session, there is a fee of $3 for Gaithersburg residents and $4 for non-residents for participating in the drop-ins and clinics which is a good deal when compared to other indoor court time or activities. There is no fee for outdoor sessions however. So beginners will get free clinics outdoor on Fridays. So for those who are interested in the fastest growing sports in U.S., we are fortunate to have this facility with venues for all levels of skills nearby. I mean I get it's the outdoors and it's nature, but I find this place way more buggy and gnatty then any other place I've gone hiking. There is no scenic view because this is just in a fairly flat forest and no hills, cliffs, or mountains to get a view from. Parking is sufficient and there's adequate signage on where to go and how to get back.

Schaeffer Farms is ideal for novice to expert-level mountain bikers. I don't get why anyone would complain about this recreation center. The staff have all been very…read morepleasant every time I go and it is a great resource to have in the community. It's alway clean and in very good condition. All the equipment is in good working condition and shows very little wear and tear. The only exception is one of the the pool tables has torn felt and is expensive to fix. The tables are good quality but smaller than regulation tables and meant for beginners. A serious pool player wouldn't use these tables anyway. It was obviously very inexperienced players damaged the felt and I've never seen skilled player use them. Their gym is as good as any you would pay a monthly fee and the centers fee is a fraction of the cost with much more to offer. The center is a great resource for the elderly of varying degrees of mobility with their many different activities. There are table tennis players in the 80's that would smoke most players 50 years younger.

It was a great combination for both the kids and adults. The inflatable waterpark kept the kids busy for the entire session. El Jefe, the large slide, and Thor, the climbing tower and slide, were our favorites. I strongly recommend booking one of the first sessions during the summer. We went early when it was less crowded, and it became noticeably busier later. In the afternoon, we completed the green and blue aerial trails. Both were a lot of fun, and the progression from one to the next worked well. Overall, River Riders is an excellent choice for families or groups looking for an active full day near Harpers Ferry.

We lucked out because we were the only ones ziplining at this time so we really got to know them. Very friendly and knowledgeable about the area/activities offered.
