I became so addicted that I tried to recreate this at home but their bagels cannot be replicated. And the jam they use is so so good! They are always so sweet to our puppy when we bring him with us! Amazing! I don't have to go far now for a true gourmet bag! Could bike it, but either way it's nice to not have to go to Oakland or Bizerkely anymore. (Although technically this is still bizerkely) I could have saved some time by ordering ahead. But the line moved fast. A single cashier was working two registers. Both indoor and outdoor dining, in those not made for lingering metal rickety framed chairs and tables. These err-thang bagels Are a bit more salty than others, which is perfectly fine with me. I've always wanted to try Boichik Bagel's original location on College but never made the visit. I'm so happy their factory location welcomes customers and it's closer to my home! The factory is spacious, clean, and bright. You can watch the workers throughout the bagel production and dine-in inside or outside. It's popular to take-out which we did. Ordering was easy--stand in line, order, pay, and wait. All of the bagels are made to order so it takes time. I love all the types of unique and traditional bagels and spreads they offer. You can also add on proteins and veggies for an additional price. I went for an Everything Bagel, Vegan Chive Cream Cheese, and Nova Lox. I love how they pack on the cream cheese and the fact they serve vegan cream cheese! It was filling, creamy, and savory while the fresh lox slices were light and tasty. I literally asked for a lil salt and pepper. Bagel was nice and fresh great amount of cream cheese which we love. Looks beautiful cut in half it just lacked flavor in my opinion. I found myself looking for more red onion to give it a little more flavor because the lack thereof. I would come back and try the lox but parking was def a hassle. I circled around nearly 20 mins to find a park which was around the corner and on opposite side of establishment. A brisk 5 min walk to try this spot so just a heads up. Customer service was good. Everyone was friendly and didn't have any problems explaining where to order and pick up. Space was clean and you can watch them make fresh bagels in the windows. I sat there to eat my sandwich. Wow! This place came highly recommended and it definitely didn't disappoint! It's a huge production facility (business is good!) and a small cafe up front for dining in or to go orders. It was busy when we arrived and there was a small line to order but it moved quickly. We ordered an everything bagel with hatch chili cream cheese and it was amazing! Perfect on the outside, great chew, and that green chili cream cheese was a perfect match. We just need distribution in Las Vegas now! I love this factory location especially after my first Boichik experience on College Ave. (equally delicious bagels but I couldn't stand the wait!). There's plenty of outdoor seating and four tables for indoor seating as well. We ordered an Iced Coffee, Classic Sandwich, and Garlic with Lox Cream Cheese. The bagels themselves are delicious, fluffy, and yes, like New York bagels! I love the cream cheese, too, but I will say they give a VERY generous amount--to the point that it almost felt like too much cream cheese. Boichik Bagel Factory was a great find in the semi-industrial but up and coming West Berkeley enclave. On a Saturday morning the area bustled with nearby soccer fields, cafes and micro breweries interspersed through industrial sites and a skate park frequented by young and old alike. The Bagel Factory had an immense and dramatically decorated facade with ample bike parking and seating lining the spacious front sidewalk. The entrance was airy and spacious with high beams and revealed the glass fronted factory in the back as well as an immense highly organized open kitchen. Ordering was quick and easy with plenty of tables and chairs available to eat in or takeaway. I had tried the pre-packaged for the past couple of years, but I must say getting it fresh is a game changer. I got an everything bagel with salmon spread. It had a good balance of salt from the everything seasoning with the creaminess of the spread. There was plenty of spread, which I appreciate. What a cool new location! I've tried Boichik's other store on College, but this newly opened one is far superior in my eyes. Being a factory location, this means that you can watch them make the bagels behind a glass window. It reminded me of Krispy Kreme, but even cooler since you can see the giant tubs of dough and the cool shaping machines. They also have indoor seating here unlike the other location so you can actually enjoy your bagel immediately. I got a pumperthingle bagel with egg salad this time, and it was delicious! There was a great blend of everything bagel seasoning on a tasty pumpernickel bagel, and I think I actually prefer them untoasted with the cold egg salad filling. Finally got to try this place! Street parking was not bad, found a spot near Fieldwork Brewery (which is about a block away). Ordering is easy at the counter, I saw bagels in the freezer and decided to get some. I ordered Everything Bagel with Pesto Sun Dried Tomato (this bagel is definitely better than the well established Bagel shops in the neighborhood). As a Californian, I won't claim to be a bagel connaisseur or even a casual fan, but I was happy with what I ordered, and it was a good price for a sandwich (I had a tangy cream cheese, cucumber, and red onions). I thought there was a bit too much cream cheese--I don't like biting into a bagel with some chewy resistance and have cream cheese squeeze out the sides. So many napkins needed! If you're like me and you hated waiting in a long line at the other Boichik Bagels location, you need to come to this spot and give Boichik Bagels another try. I stumbled upon this spot randomly while I was driving around in the area and had to make a stop after seeing that there was no line. Around 9:00 a.m. on a Sunday, I would've expected this place to be packed but it was anything but: I was one of only four customers inside the store. Since this is where all Boichik bagels are manufactured, there was no shortage of bagels: every type of bagel listed on the menu was available for purchase. The store itself is pretty cool as well: behind large panels of glass, you can see how the bagels are moved along the product line by a combination of humans, robots and machines. One comment I have about the ordering process is that I wish the menu was larger: the only place you find the menu is on a 8.5" x 11" paper atop of the queue line and at the counter when you're placing your order with the cashier. I felt pretty overwhelmed with the amount of choices of bagels and spread but ultimately got a toasted everything bagel with horseradish cream cheese. This bagel had the perfect amount of saltiness and just the right amount of cream cheese. Hands down NYC bagels are the bomb and their cream cheese is off the hook with variety and quantity per bagel. Nothing has compared since that experience. Since then, I just put up with California bagels because it's all that is available to me in my community. And then I came to Boichik. To be honest, it still doesn't compare to an NYC bagel but rarely does anything compare to its original source. Boichik definitely will hold one over until another trip to NYC. Decided to check this place out after hearing all the hype. I ordered a sesame bagel with vegan cream cheese and wont be going back for another. The bagel was burnt and had a ridiculously small amount of cream cheese on it. I showed the worker and he said they typically put less vegan cream cheese than regular CC (although it costs more?). Honestly very dissapointing, I've had New York bagels smeared with heaps of vegan CC, so there's no excuse. Won't be returning. read more

We purchase our orders online and pick them up on Saturdays. We typically order gluten free plain, salt and egg. Very tasty and they hold up well throughout the week, even through freezing. The price is very reasonable. Difficult to find a good tasting GF bagel in the Bay area. Part I of the Boichik/Hella Bagels throwdown started here at the Boichik mothership (i.e., factory). My friend (native New Yorker who knows her bagels) had the whitefish sandwich on a salt bagel, which she gave the highest praise only after a few bites. Last year when I brought her one of the pumpernickel caraway salt bagels, she said it was one of the best bagels she had ever had. I had the daily special --a toasted eggything (egg bagel with everything seasoning) with lox spread and capers (your choice of bagel). Also had a cup of Mother Tongue coffee with oat milk (no extra charge for oat milk). I was a little disappointed since all I could taste of the bagel/lox spread/capers was salt...quite a different experience from what I expected, as I've enjoyed their bagels just on their own before. A few years ago I had the bagel lox sandwich and was also underwhelmed due to the okay taste and extremely high price of what you got. However, I think the bagels by themselves are pretty good, so will just stick to that from now on.
