Stopped in for breakfast to-go on my way to work and was so happy I did! Super tasty coffee, fun decor, and a nice barista. What more could you want? Parking can be a little tricky since it's on a busy residential street. I got a cappuccino and a breakfast burrito with bacon. Both were delicious, especially the coffee. The barista was very chill and very friendly. The vibe in here is also awesome. It's clear they are community-focused. I stopped here to finish my work day after a conference at the convention center. Got a pumpkin latte and the fresh spices were extremely yummy. There is WiFi and tons of booths. I loved the look of this place. The service was super friendly and prompt. There is a bathroom but you have to ask for the key. Quite literally feels like a boiler room but in a good way! Boiler Room is a cute little coffee shop, tucked away in a neighborhood. I happened to find it from staying nearby in an Airbnb. I can't have dairy so, I was happy that they're able to make lattes with non-dairy options. I also ordered one of their waffles and have to say it's one of the best waffles I've had in a very long time! Our barista was very nice and had conversations with each person I saw walk into the shop. It gave community vibes. I loved the greeting cards and stickers they had for sale (very on the humorous side). I also noticed board games tucked away in a corner so, they definitely don't have an issue with folks staying for a while. If I lived in the area, it'd be a go to! read more

I have lived in this area for years and have not had the idea to check out boiler room coffee and BOY have I been MISSING out, this coffee is spacious has lots of natural sunlight. They have plenty of seating and have street parking right on 3rd Ave. they have a great selection of iced or hot coffees and even matcha lattes, I also got a cherry danish and it was delicious. I noticed they have canned drinks as well. The barista was so friendly!!! If you're on a walk or live in the area DEFINITELY recommend checking them out 10/10 read more

My friend was here last night and she left her debit card. It was then turned in to staff and she was going to pick it up the next day. Once she came back to get her card, she was told that her card was thrown away and destroyed for "safety purposes"... Both of us work in the restaurant industry and have never heard of this kind of protocol for a lost card- Especially for a card that has been in their possession for less than 24 hours. I tried to give this place a few chances because their coffee was half decent! But was frustrated when the barista added $3+ to my small latte claiming "the prices aren't updated and it's the economy". $10 for a small drink wasn't adding up. Zero milk upgrades at all. I was about to walk out. I pointed it out and he lowered the price back to what was on the MENU making it seem negotiable. Very unprofessional. As far as the atmosphere, it feels sticky, just like an old boiler room. You might actually smell like mold if you work in there for over an hour. Loved the ambiance at Boiler Room! We were specifically looking for a low key, queer friendly coffee shop and BINGO! The coffee was delicious - if you go you have to try the Minnesota Miel!! So good! They have lots of plants (and you can buy them!) and local queer art everywhere. Cool stickers and cards - and the service is wonderful. It is per friendly also, so bring your fur babies! I love the girls who work here, the waffle is consistently delicious. The space is quaint and cozy so I can get a lot done here. WiFi password posted at all the tables and the menu is extensive. I was in town and in the neighborhood and saw this place randomly. It should be criminal that this place is shutting its doors - my heart goes out to the owner who had to make this tough decision. The homemade chai here is a perfect balance of spicy and sweet, and taste great iced. Staff is friendly. Artwork on the walls is absolutely adorable. This place is great. I am recently back to the Twin Cities and am so happy that this has survived. Great staff, the drinks are good and have a nice variety, and the vibe in the place is great. They are dog friendly so you can bring your doggo and you can both feel welcomed and at home. I stop by every time I am near by. This is a cozy, little coffee shop that kind of looks like a cool mini dungeon. Overall the prices are average- I ordered a medium iced caramel latte with soy milk and the fancy oatmeal with a total of $12. Both were good- the latte wasn't too sweet and the oatmeal was very hearty (it had raisins, apple, walnuts, oats, wild rice and cinnamon in it + a side of brown sugar and milk). The portion of the oatmeal was very generous but I didn't like the texture of it- I would have preferred the walnuts and apples on the side to keep the crunchiness. The WiFi here is REALLY spotty so it wasn't ideal for my work meeting that I was here for, there aren't a lot of tables and the furniture are a little rundown/uncomfortable. But they do have a couple of booths that looks cozy that was taken the whole time I was here. Parking can be difficult as it is all street parking. What a hidden gem! I got the pollinator latte which includes wildflower honey and lavender and wow it was amazing. You could truly taste the honey and lavender it was perfect. I also got the blueberry muffin and it was the perfect accompaniment. This shop is so cute! There's lots of plans and seating and an area with games and books. I love that this shop also participates in the good to go cup campaign to help reduce coffee cup waste. Parking was pretty easy to find but it is in a busy area. read more

I've been here a few times, once while visiting and again after moving to Minneapolis and haven't had a bad experience, the food and coffee have never disappointed - but when my wifi was out in my apartment and I needed a nice quiet chill place with good vibes to work my remote job at the last minute I was able to come right and work the whole day comfortably without any distractions and that's why I decided to leave a review! Very low key and staff is very friendly, seating is also comfortable for long term things, and I was able to get so much done. I don't know if i would choose to work a whole day out of my home again but I've definitely been considering penciling in a regular visit when I need a little more motivation to get things done. read more

This is hands down one of my favorite coffee shops in the twin cities. The staff are great and super chill. They let dogs come in and enjoy a special treat while their owners wait for their drinks to be made. The waffles are delicious! They also have an assortment of muffins, breads, and sandwiches to order from as well. They're always coming up with new specials as far as the drink menu so it's fun to see what they're experimenting with next. The baristas are simply fantastic - just sassy enough, just friendly enough, always sincere, and they make excellent drinks. They work hard for the money, so you better tip 'em right. The owner seems like the friendliest guy since 1950s TV; the chick with short hair and the tats would be my forever crush if I was a lesbian; the dude with the beard straight out of the "wait, is Joaquin Phoenix crazy or just in character" phase is always a good time; the local art on the walls changes all the time and ranges from trippy to funny to "wow, that's dope, I want to buy it." Oh, and their coffee tastes just as good when you brew it at home - so I'm prone to buying their beans to go now. The place is local, local, local. It hosts a wide-range of Stevens Square residents, from strippers to dog-walkers to writers to painters to random coffee klatches. It's in a basement, but in a punk rock, underground hip hop way - you feel happy to be low to the ground, tucked away with the cool kids. This was one of those coffee shops that I'd always heard about but had never actually checked out until one day I decided to just go. I came in on a Saturday, early afternoon and had the banana bread with their dark roast coffee. It hit the spot right away! The barista greeted me with a warm smile and there was plenty of seating to choose from. Sofas, big booths, and smaller tables. There was AC which was keeping the room pretty cool and it was really easy to work here. Definitely a hidden little gem in the area. Went walking from the conference center to here on a Sunday morning. This place is in a little residential neighborhood. It has all sorts of coffee types, and mixes for lattes. Hemp, almond, coconut milk. I had a hemp with miel latte. I really couldn't taste the honey over the espresso but it was a very nice latte, with well balanced flavors from the espresso and milk. But the star of the show was the fancy oatmeal. I've been making my oatmeal at home the same way since. Cook it in apple juice or in my case cider and you don't need to add any sugar at all.
