Since I wasn't dining at the location, they had no way to correct the order at the time on the spot. My favorite hot pot spot! I go almost 2-3 times every month. I've been going to the Artesia location but now that I moved closer to the Irvine area, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place! It's bigger than the Garden Grove and Artesia location which is really nice! There's room to walk around without accidentally bumping into someone's table. No wait (we went at 3:30 pm on a Thursday), food came about 10 mins after we ordered, and all the servers we called over during our meal were very friendly! Food was obviously SO good! Food: 4 Stars Service: 2 Stars I was surprised to see Boiling Point come up on my Yelp search for "hot pot". My friends always talked about Boiling Point in Arcadia, so I had to try it. The wait for a table is quite long and from what I can tell, they are still short staffed. We all ordered our food which came out relatively quickly, but they took a really long time serving us our drinks. You choose from 6-7 different hot pot styles and each has a different flavor with different items in them. Everybody gets their own small hot pot, which is nice. You can also add more items, but I think if you order just the hot pot, its just enough to fill you up. I decided to get the Curry hot pot, medium spicy, and I added another plate of sliced pork ($3.00). I was overwhelmed how much food was already in the hot pot; the extra order of sliced pork was not necessary at all, I WAS SOOOOO FULL AFTER. Definitely not going to order extra meat again. But the hot pot stayed hot, delicious flavors, lots of different items in the bowl, YUM. Great for the cold weather! I suggest going early, and expect a wait. A Boiling Point location in Irvine! Great timing! Great strategy, especially with the cold weather. No wonder the lines are endless. I've been to the Monterrey Park location a few years back, but the decor here is much better. If you're coming off the 5 freeway, it's the Culver exit in the same plaza as Denny's. You still won't be able to see this place since it's located in the back corner behind the walk-in medical center. I like the location since I was able to park along the medical center side where the parking spaces are much larger. I met up with a few girlfriends there for lunch & have to say I was lucky to get a table right away. No waiting! I ordered the House Hot Pot (level 4 out of 5 on the scale of spiciness according to the waiter) which was indeed spicy. Just right for me & don't think I can do level 5. I did also add additional garlic bean sauce & garlic chili, located in the back of the room, to dip my meat, tofu & vegetables in. For me, that extra sauce made the hot pot even tastier. I do have to say, if you're not use to that much spiciness, stay with just the bean sauce. Service was great though I'd expected more waiters/waitresses to be working, considering it's still the grand opening period. They were all very friendly but were running around like crazy & that was just lunch. By the time I left, I have to say it was probably an hour wait for a table. Still, even in the cold weather, everyone seem to be content waiting to try out this place. I'll be back here for sure. Love the menu! Love the price! The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the smell... is it the stinky tofu? Doesn't smell good. But get over it, b/c the food is perfect on a cold, winter day. I've tried the kimchee hot pot - wasn't my favorite, the kimchee is not fermented enough. The beef hot pot & seafood hot pot are my favorites. One problem - they are not consistent with their level of "spicy". Even though I always order it with medium spice, it's different every time. Agreeing with a handful of these reviews, the place is indeed overpriced and the service is eh. I usually come here with my company for lunch and no complaints until we actually get our food. I usually order a vegetarian hot pot with mild spicy and a side order of lamb, to stay on the healthier side. I would have to say that they have no differentiating the middle levels of spicy [there are 5 spicy levels from 1 being none and 5 being extreme] and I usually end up having to down my water most of my meal. I would like to eat my hot-pot with my lamb but service was not on my side as I had to ask my waitress a few times, asking where my lamb was. Not only has the restaurant managed to bring me to the verge of being hangry (hungry + angry) but the service does not help either. The food is alright. I'm not an expert on hotpot type fare but I know good food when I taste it. I was here earlier for dinner and the wait was about 40 minutes for party of 2. The service was lacking; yes they were busy, and yes, this is a restaurant with how shall I say, "bilingual" service so don't expect the service to be top notch, BUT there are two servers there who actually cared and checked up to see if you were okay. Thumb up to them! (I wish I would have gotten their names...) It's 12 for regular hot pots and 15 for the bigger hot pots (Taiwanese spicy, Miso, and Thai) and each hot pot comes with its own unique array of "toppings" but mainly a fist full of cabbage. Your table will have 3 sauces: chili oil, some fermented bean sauce, and this dark sweet sauce which are all surprisingly good. I mean, you have to work PRETTY HARD to make hot pot sexy. This was good, but nothing to swoon over. Decent broth; not too bland and not overseasoned. I got the lamb hot pot since I love lamb. This is a nice place to come to if you want hotpot and you don't feel like spending the time on a legit hotpot dinner with your friends. You get a free green or black tea with your hot pot, and a choice of rice or noodles (vermicelli) with your meal. I got the beef hot pot (med. spicy with ramen noodles). It is not your typical American beef taste, it's Taiwanese so if you're not a fan of Taiwanese tasting beef then I suggest not coming here. I came with a party of 8 around 1 PM and we were seated fairly quickly. Service was fine, they're all very kind! We also got a blueberry & mango shaved ice. The blueberry one is delicious! If I were to come back, I wouldn't get the beef pot; I'll try the miso one instead! I heard it's good. Oh, and careful while you eat! It is VERY easy to burn your tongue!!! I love shabu shabu.. It's relatively healthy and delicious on a cold day. I'm not a huge fan of bland shabu where thinly sliced beef and fresh veggies boil in water, so I make an effort to steer towards broths with more depth. These broths are embedded with shrimp, clams, beef flanks, and a bunch of other mystery ingredients that rival the confusion of a hot dog. BP is probably one of my favorite shabu spots in Southern California. The soup is so rich with flavor and the contents go beyond your average shabu spot (stinky tofu, pork intestines, and the like). Since I absolutely love love love spicy foods, Taiwanese soup with a side of stinky tofu is my go to dish. But if you don't like spicy, they have a diverse menu of soups with my second favorite soup being the house special, Korean tofu soup, tomato/vegetarian soup, etc. The dessert menu definitely does not disappoint. I love their macaron ice cream sandwich, and I think if you go before 1 pm, they give you a refreshing and delicious sweet green tea drink :) I would dock a half star, for the spotty service. To be honest I'm not a fan of hot pot. Boiled meat is not my cup of tea. However I did enjoy their curry hot pot. It's not watery it's almost like gravy if you let it sit for a while, especially if the vermicelli soaks up all the water. I do like their drinks, their 'special' milk tea tastes like the white rabbit candy. So that's plus. Expect to spend 15-17 bucks a person for this. Everything was pretty pretty decent however the drawbacks was the portion size, spiciness and price for what I paid. The Hot Pot was pretty small and I was about 50-60% hungry after eating everything completely.. For its portion size I do think its a bit overpriced for what you normally pay for the meal. I also ordered mild and the soup base was still too hot for me (Comparing to Tofu Soup at BCD) I also wish they allowed an exchange of meats between the Pots.. This place has been my go-to ever since I've moved to Irvine for college and it never gets old. I've tried almost all of the hot pots on the menu and would have to say my top picks are the beef, house special, and Thai. BUT if you are a first timer and want to be safe, I recommend the beef because that is definitely the top favorite for this place. Their sauces are SO tasty and are now even available for purchase! So if you ever want to make a simple at home shabu shabu, the sauces will definitely come in handy. An absolute MUST when you come here, TRY THEIR MILK TEAS!! Coming from the boba enthusiast myself, I can say their milk teas are by far one of the best I've had (and I've had A LOT). My two favorites are the Hokkaido and honey green milk tea! Another thing I like about this place is that they give you complimentary black or green tea when you come for lunch which I believe ends at 3. As for their desserts, the macaron ice cream sandwiches are okay at best for the price, only because I'm comparing them to the original Milk macaron sandwiches. As for their new ice cream cubes?? I'm not sure what it is but it tastes like watered down shaved ice in a cube...flavored ice cube? It's definitely nice for a hot day but I would probably not get it ever again. after coming here for years now. I would have to lower the review to 1 star from a 5 star. other than the epic fails they already fail on as I mentioned on my older review, this place needs to advertise in writing how their stamp system works. so many of my stamps have been denied even though I gathered all 10 stamps for a free soup. I have been denied to combined my stamps that are on different cards. they took my stamp cards and threw it away and told me that its expired. this place changes their stamp card policy frequently. the employees don't even know how it really works becuz after their new manager changed the stamp card policies. employees saids different things about the stamp cards. depends on who ur asking. i'd be glad they just get rid of the stamp cards. the place is always packed it doesn't even need cards. if i have 9 stamps, and i go in for 2 meals. than i should be able to use it. on that particular visit. but no... they told me that it states on the card that i can use it on the 'next' visit. so i have 2 cards now. full of stamps. cant use til 'next visit' than i lost the card. which is totally fine cuz its my fault. so i gathered another set of cards. this time they combined it for me. but there was a card w 2 stamps that they took from me and did not credit it becuz it was expired. the stamps were not expired. only the card was expired. they wrote the date on the stamps which is different from the expiration date of the card. becuz the store ran out of cards so told me i could still use the card even though its expired. the employee told me she will write on the card the new dates. but later i don't see that employee anymore and the new employee took my card from me and wouldn't give it back stating that the card is expired even though the stamp is not. than i asked another guy if this is the policy and he takes one look at the cute female employee and than looks at me, and saids yea that's the policy. i explained my previous stamp situations to them and they said that if i have 9 stamps on a card. and buy 2 more hot pots, i can use it on that SAME visit. not the 'next visit'. so i told them that it states on the card once u fill all the stamps, u can get the free complimentary one on the 'next visit'. they said no, u can use it on the same visit. anyways after talking to these retards a bit more i asked them at least revive 1 stamp for me since all my stamps are expired. they said no. their stamp policy sucks. if u go in today which is end of October, the card will expire by December. so u got 6 weeks to eat 10 hot pots. and use the free hot pot by December 31. this suck really bad. so i am lowering the 5 star rating to 1 star. read more

I've been here plenty of times and each time, my experience changes. Nothing really that bad, but it varies... First time here, there was only about a 20 minute wait (I went for lunch). Which in my opinion isn't bad, I was expecting at least 30+ minutes. We were sat down and given a few minutes to decide. Since I'm allergic to seafood and nuts, it limits my options but the waiter told me that he could take out the seafood for me. (Awesome!) I remember my first bite, it was really good and I knew I'd come back here more often. My second time there, we waited only about 10 minutes (good because I was starving). This time my experience wasn't too great. The server took forever to come to us and he also messed up our order not once, not twice, but 3 times. I almost ate seafood and had an allergic reaction... But the only good thing about this time was that the manager came out and talked to me personally. He apologized and also gave me a free tea of my choice. Which was sweet. I honestly, really like this place. But sometimes it's either a hit or miss with the service. So that's why I gave them 4 rather than a 5 because I'm really big on customer service. Other than the occasional long wait outside, I haven't had a bad experience here. Food: While studying abroad in Taiwan, hotpot became my favorite thing to eat. After coming back to Cali, I searched for a good taiwanese hotpot place, and BP was the solution! The variety of ingredients really makes it feel like a fun adventure in a lava pot of gooodies. I typically order the house special or beef, and the Spicy levels are pretty accurate; don't go for flaming spicy unless you can handle the heat. Great dipping sauces as well! Service: a lot of staff walking around, but there's no dedicated servers per table group. Kind of hard to get their attention at times, but they're very quick about getting you what you ask for as fast as they can. I feel like they could use the table bell system common in korean restaurants. Price: if you can go right before lunch rush, or before dinner rush, you won't be waiting too long. For lunch, the prices are a dollar cheaper than dinner service prices, and you get a free iced green/black tea. It's the better deal. Filling meal for a decent price.
