I've seen Tasty Spot Cafe many times, but finally trying it for the first time! I'm so glad we finally ate here. We were starving and came on a Friday evening. Parking was plentiful as this restaurant is located in a shopping center where there's a Korean grocery store, Zion Market. We were seated right away. It's a casual atmosphere with a decent amount of tables. I let the server know that it was our first time there. She was doing her best to be helpful to suggest some popular items. Our dinner started off with the wonton soup ($16.95) We chose not to have noodles with it. I intended to order the pork, but what came out was a combination of pork and shrimp in the wontons. The wontons were a good size and had good flavor. There was nothing else that came with it except the broth. No vegetables. I feel like it was a small amount for the price point. Next up, the minced pork with string beans ($18.95) were brought out. The green beans were delicious and not overcooked and still had a crunch to it. The minced pork was seasoned very nicely and complemented the vegetable well. And for the next dish, this was my favorite of our dinner, the two meat combination of barbecue pork and crispy roasted pork ($26.95). The crispy pork was amazing! The outer skin had a nice crunch to it, and there was a good balance of pork and fat. The barbecue pork was sweet and savory. I think we over ordered one dish too many. That's ok because we had some leftovers to take home. Lastly, we had the house special filet mignon ($27.95). This came with a lot of onions and some traces of green bell pepper. I believe it was Thai basil that was part of this dish, which I really liked! The service was nice and attentive, without being intrusive. That usually doesn't happen too often at these restaurants. This spot used to be Delicious Food Corner, and the menu is pretty much the same. You can order classic individual Hong Kong cafe dishes or go for larger family-style plates. There's also dimsum options to choose from. We had a bigger group, so we were seated in a quiet private room in the corner, which worked out really well. A few dishes were a bit salty, but overall everything was solid. My favorites were the honey walnut shrimp (crispy and not overly drenched in mayo like at other places), and the spicy garlic eggplant. They also have dim sum you can order off the menu. After ordering, each item came quite fast and we were able to enjoy the food all at the same time. Rebranded from Delicious Food Corner, but it appears the menu items remain largely the same. We ordered some of the same items we used to get, and it tasted the same too, so not sure if there was a management change or just a name change. We came on a Monday night without a reservation for a party of 10 and was seated immediately even though not everyone in our party has arrived. The place is quite large and it wasn't too busy so they didn't mind that we just started ordering some food while we waited. Our server was friendly and I remember seeing her there in the past. The HK iced tea was very strong and flavorful with free refills. Everyone enjoyed the food. My husband and ai came here with our 13yo & 10yo boys for dinner after driving down from out of town. We arrived around 730pm on a Thursday night, and the restaurant was about 1/3 occupied. It's a big restaurant with many tables that can be put together to accomodate large groups. The AC was on cold and it's very bright inside unlike some restaurants where the lighting is so dim. We were seated immediately and given the menus. A staff came by right after asking to take drink orders. Then another staff came by to take food orders when we barely flipped through the main menu and 2 side menus. We were asked 3x if we were ready to order before we done looking through the menu. I was taken back and somewhat annoyed as I felt rushed. But we finally look through the main menu and order the following: 1. Beef Chow Fun: More noodles than beef. Smaller noodles used compared to other restaurants that ises larger noodles. Good flavor and not oily. Beef is tender. 2. Roasted Duck (half): Very tender, moist and flavorful, not too salty. Came with a small dish of sweet and sour sauce pair with. I wish the skin was crispier though. 3. HK Style Stir Fried Spare Ribs: This dish came out last and took the longest. It was very delish. The spare ribs were very tender and the taste is sweet and tangy, more on the sweeter side, with lots of pineapple, bell peppers and onions. The ribs were cut up too small so we bit into the bones easily. My 10yo son gave up on eating it as it hurt his teeth. 4. Stir fried string beans: A very good dish with salted minced pork. Need to eat with rice or else will be too salty to eat on own. String beans not crunchy as I would like as it a little soft but I would order this dish again. Food came pretty quick but the last dish took longest. We also could not order rice ahead as they wanted us to order rice once the food came out. The overall service is good as they are quick to take away your dirty plates and refilled water as meeded w/o us asking. We would definitely return in the future to try other items as we came towards end of day so a cod dish we wanted was not available. Note: Picture on menu may not be actual dish as there was a string bean & mushroom with fried tofu I wanted to order, but was told that the dish has mushrooms only. Came here because other people in my party are familiar with "Delicious Food Corner" in other locations such as Rowland Heights. They're a big fan of it there, but this location? Absolutely trash. There's no rice included in your entrees - extra charge, of course. But how does that many sense for dishes that actually require rice?? Like if you get a curry dish, are you supposed to just drink it? No. Of course not. The roast duck here is the absolute worst duck I've ever had. Devoid of flavor, lacks meat, and just all bones. Clay pot rice - takes forever to come out and super skimpy with toppings. Rice lacked that char/burn on the sides that make it clay pot rice. Braised pork with preserved vegetables - pork wasn't braised for long enough and was tough. This is supposed to be so braised that it melts into your mouth. Noodle dishes - most of these lacked the proper wok hei needed to achieve the flavors. They probably would taste a lot better if I took them home and threw them in a wok, but why would I do such a thing? This meal hit exactly the way I wanted it to. I was craving beef chow fun and pineapple buns so I ordered delivery and oh my gosh this was the best way to end 2025. The beef chow fun had the perfect smokey charred flavor and there was so much beef. The noodles were chewy and not greasy at all and the veggies were perfectly crisp. I have no notes or critiques. The pineapple bun was also delicious. It was so fluffy with a crispy crust. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it satisfied my craving and I have no problems ordering it again. We keep coming back to Tasty Spot Cafe! We really like the Hong Kong Cafe style food. Service is really strong with a lot of servers walking around everywhere. We have tried fried rice, crispy noodles, and various dishes here including dim sum items. I have been to Delicious Food Corner and it is very similar. Come here for an authentic experience but you should know what you want to order before, I don't think you will get much help from the staff which is on par for most fast and efficient authentic chinese eateries. read more

I was craving Hong Kong Style Chow Mein and tasty spot appeared to be one of the best options for delivery to south OC. While I can't speak on the ambiance or service, the food was exactly what I was looking for; authentic and correctly prepared. The seafood chow mein came with a big pile of fried noodles that were had a bit of excess grease in the container, but were cooked properly. The dish came with a nice blend of seafood and gravy in a separate container and came with a standard serving size. The Yeung Chow Fried rice was well seasoned and had a nice mix of meats. The chinese sausage used in the rice was particularly tasty. We also got the three delicacy combo with duck, and pork two ways. The pork belly skin still had a bit of crispy as was a delicious fatty bite. The roast pork was sweet and tasty and delicious. The duck was a bit bony without too much meat, but was seasoned. Beef Chow Fun was well done with a nice smoky taste. Perfect amount of sauce which is often inconsistent at other restaurants. Umami, thoroughly wok-hei'd, velvety and tender beef, topped with long stalks of fresh green onions. -two delicacy platter: the crispy BBQ pork was good, indeed crispy but kind of gamey and *very* porky. Rounded off with the red bottle on the table, which tasted like spiced vinegar...? The BBQ duck was much better, fatty, juicy, well seasoned/ marinated. My partner brought me specifically to try their duck and it lived up to his hype. -salted egg yolk custard bao: actually incredible. Three hefty soft buns filled to the brim with salty, sweet, molten egg custard. It was tempting to get more to go but they're kind of steep at $10 for x3. The dim sum in general *is* pricey but they give jumbo sized items, and the shumai and other items at the table next to us looked tasty. Overall it was better than what I was expecting. The restaurant seems to change name as well. The environment is nice with plenty of space and highchairs are available for kids. The price is on the high side with current economic. I like their poached chicken with the ginger sauce and their pan fried chicken chow mein. Their green beans are also pretty good too. I like their 3 delicacy, but it didn't come with that much meat when I ordered it. They also have a selection of dim sum to choose from and it's served all day which is nice! This place has great food and a good amount of seating. The only bump here is that it's pricey and service could improve. It seems like they're all just in a rush and short staffed. This place is a great value for their breakfast combos. Entree, side, and drink for anywhere from $12-$15. The portions are fantastic and could possibly share between two ppl especially the congee bowls. Food came out hot and flavors were perfect not too salty or bland. The female server was attentive, but did not mention that drink was included when I ordered the combo or provide free refills during the meal. That is the reason I took off a star. However the male server who helped me pack up leftovers did make me a new drink in a togo cup when I requested a refill. Need to go back to try more dishes and highly recommend this place! read more

Food: we got a duck soup and garlic green beans with fish, har gao shrimp dumplings and steam pork buns. The duck was very tasty but the soup wasn't very flavorful and I wish there was some veggies in the soup (just sprinkle of green onion). The dim sum items were ok. Best dish was the flavorful garlic green beans and fish. Was surprised (but didn't ask) that there was a $7 for tea for the table. There was a bit of a language barrier since the server's English was limited and we didn't speak Cantonese, but they asked if we wanted tea and we said yes. Considering there are NO Hong Kong cafes in north OC, as a SGV native I'm very thankful that there's a DFC here in Irvine. Went early Sunday morning so the place only had four tables filled, very quick service. We did the congee breakfast combo with chow mein and a ham and egg macaroni soup with a pineapple bun with butter. Drinks came with the combo which is great. Both the iced lemon tea and iced hk milk tea were great. The chow mein seems to come out the fastest as the staff served every table who ordered it as the side with the chow mein dish first. Chow mein needs more wok hei but this is for all the DFC locations in my opinion. Macaroni soup was standard, just add some white pepper powder to your liking. I think the disappointing item was the pineapple bun which was really small and under toasted (not sure if you can tell from the photo). Let me preface this review by saying every Delicious Food Corner has a different set of staff/owner/rules so the quality varies greatly from location to location. This specific is located in the Zion Supermarket Plaza and one of the newer restaurant additions. The interior and menu looks exactly like every other Delicious Food Corner. NOTE the menu prices are slightly higher since we are in OC compared the SGV locations. The issue with this specific DFC location is the staff literally does not GOF about service. As a result the food quality from the kitchen suffering significantly even the exact same items from other locations. Note you DO NOT get free white rice with your entree orders at this location! No they will not refill your iced lemon tea either, and you literally need to beg someone so you can get your check and pay. We visit all of the SGV, Diamond Bar and Chino Hills locations VERY frequently and even recommend those locations to family/friends. But this one I would NOT recommend with the million of other food choices in Irvine. We've given this location at least a handful of opportunities to change our opinion but sadly the same every time. I mean if you absolutely MUST have HK food but don't except tasty good. You will likely get super greasy shell of itself lookalike items. Unless management corrects the many issues and attitudes of the staff we would NOT recommend this place to anyone in there right mind for anything resembling HK/Canto cuisine. read more

I was so impressed by my first breakfast experience at 10:30 am last week, I took my family out for a lunch experience. I usually have very different meals for the second visit so that I can make an objective observation about different foods from the same restaurant and also get tired of the same old stuff. So this time around we stuck to the main menu. The restaurant didn't offer any generous breakfast set menu since we ate at 1:30 pm. The jasmine tea was $6 per person and all of the dishes had no complimentary food items. Nevertheless the taste, quality, price and speed at which the likes of Peking Duck and Chinese Bockchoy with mushrooms, real tripes, pork ribs, seafood and large porridge were served were equally amazing and delicious. First time at this DFC location in Irvine. The place is quite spacious and pleasantly decorated. Tables are relatively far apart so it doesn't feel crowded. Got here at 11:20am and was able to order some breakfast items because they are served until 11:30am. Ordered a variety of standard Hong Kong style cafe dishes to try out: Seafood Congee with Fried Noodles breakfast, Beef Chow Fun, Singapore Style Vermicelli, and Clay Pot Rice with Chicken and Mushrooms. The congee was very good with great texture and fresh and generous ingredients. I liked the fact that their stir fried noodle dishes were all nice and dry, not greasy at all. The Beef Chow Fun came with large slices of really tender beef and was very well prepared. The Singapore Style Vermicelli was also really tasty and came with a generous amount of shrimps and BBQ pork slices. The Fried Noodles that came with the congee breakfast was a bit plain, could have used a little bean sprouts or green onions. The Clay Pot Rice was my least favorite. The chicken was mostly bones and not very flavorful. Service was average. The guy who took our order didn't tell us that the breakfast came with a free drink. More recently my parents have been wanting food from Delicious Food Corner. I will say that the food taste good, but the personality could change. What I mean by the personality is there is a young man at the front who isn't very hospitable or welcoming. The last time we ordered food to go, I paid upon arriving. I was told to go sit down and wait for my order. Granted it was already past the time my food was supposed to be ready, but without complaint I waited. Watching orders on the to go table get pick up, I was waiting for my order to be announced. Now two bags came out and nothing was announced. With no enthusiasm to really help, I asked the young man if these two bags were my order as one had a different order number on it. He pretty much said "yeah". Without announcing the order being ready for pick up, I probably would have been waiting longer unless I went to the table to ask about the order. Plus without any enthusiasm to help me confirm my order, I just took the two bags and left. As for the food, sure it taste good, but the personality could use some improvement. The kicker I'm beginning to notice is even with take out and some restaurants they prompt you for a tip without even providing the service first. Wish I could take my tip back.... So minus personality, I do enjoy their food. So hard to give a poor review. read more

We first went to the Tasty Spot Cafe in Chino Hills and liked it, so we decided to try the Irvine location. The food was good--we ordered four dishes and enjoyed them. But the place was pretty loud. People were talking really loudly, and it made the space feel noisy and hard to relax. We'll probably go back, but maybe just for takeout next time. read more
