Parking is tough to find if this plaza gets busy. The restaurant is parallel to Jeffrey Rd, near the Tesla chargers and to the right of 99 ranch. It wasn't too busy when our party arrived, and only 2 other tables were occupied. The restaurant itself is cozy with minimal decor. Staff gestured to a table, and we were able to walk through the self-serve line fairly quickly. After you put all your ingredients into a bowl, you bring it up to the counter, they weigh it, charge you ($14.99/per pound), and then they cook it for you in your preferred broth. You are handed a number keychain so they know which bowl is yours. While you wait, Staff will bring you water and fried wonton strips. You can mix your own sauce at the station so when your bowl arrives, you can enjoy! What I liked: I was really surprised that they had some adventurous ingredients like tendon, tripe, etc. among the other basic meats and veggies! The bowls are very large with a generous amount of soup, and the tom yum broth I got was flavorful! What went wrong: I found a hair entangled in my food. I was really bummed because it was my second bite, but they refunded me. Unfortunately, that basically ruined the vibe for my friends, so we all left shortly after.
Hands down the best malatang spot in OC. I love the tomato broth here and the selection of toppings is super expansive. I love getting the tripe, quail eggs, bean curd, and tong ho. Everything is cooked to perfection and things aren't overcooked which is great. The beef broth here also is delicious - love switching between that and the tomato. The prices are also affordable since it comes with so much soup that it can be made into a second meal. Staff are friendly and the food comes out pretty quickly. Overall, really recommend this spot!
I've been to many different Malatang places and this one has probably one of the widest selection of ingredients that I've seen. It all seemed pretty fresh too! The store itself is not huge so there can be a wait for tables when it's busy. The staff were all really nice! The plaza is also on the smaller and busier side so sometimes parking can be hard to find. I got the tomyum soup base and it was really good and flavorful! Very creamy and tangy with a slight kick, not too spicy. The bowl was huge and so I got to take the rest home and add more things, so it satisfied for 2 meals! I will say there is a slight wait after you give them your bowl to cook. It wasn't that busy when I went and I waited around 10 minutes for my bowl, kinda understandable since they're cooking it after you give it to them. They do give you a side of wonton chips to snack on while you wait which is nice. The sauce bar is stocked up with different sauces, chilis, and greens (cilantro, green onions). I would say it's worth the wait!

However, I made the mistake of getting the tomato soup base (didn't realize they had another nonstick soup base available) and found out pretty quickly I didn't like it (probably personal preference towards tomato flavor) . But other than that the ingredients tasted fresh and good. Next time I want to try the other base! Plus the workers were very quick and kind when we needed water and such. I appreciated their service quite a bit.
This place is definitely one of my go to malatang spots. I love that they give you complimentary wonton chips while you wait on your bowl to cook. The bone broth is definitely the best broth you could get here, hearty and warm. I wouldn't recommend the tomato broth since it tasted as if someone just put tomato and hot water together. I enjoy the huge selection of fish cakes and fish balls, my wish would be that there could be a bit more variety on the noodles.
New, very clean restaurant. Limited menu outside of hotpot. You choose your own toppings with tongs (if you have any allergies, not the place for you since the same tongs are used for everywhere). A large variety of fresh vegetable, seafood, and noodle toppings. They have some non-mala broth flavors like tomato or curry. I got the very spicy and it was not spicy at all and not much numbing either, so it's definitely Americanized hotpot. Huge portions and you pay at the end of your meal at their checkout station.

Then at the counter they weight everything and you can choose what broth you want or if you wanted it more as a dry bowl. There's a sauce bar where you can make your own sauce and then seat yourself and wait for your delicious bowl to come out. I love the concept and idea of this and makes eating hot pot a lot faster. The broth here is super flavorful and they have soooo many options that you can add to your bowl. Been here twice now and would definitely come back.
After the AYCE hot pot craze started, some smaller "assemble your own bowl" shops have opened. At 14.99/lbs, these shops are less expensive and help portion control. Yintang has a simple menu, clean stations and a large bowl that comes out. Although the soup isn't as spicy and mala, it makes it so you can enjoy the ingredients more. The sauce bar is packed with options for every palette.
I love the tomato soup at Yin Tang. I haven't tried all the other soup options, but it seems more flavorful than other ones I have tried. Selection of toppings is pretty good. Lots of different types of noodles, which I enjoyed. There are not as many meat options aside from fishcakes and meatballs. The price has always been okay for me since I don't eat too much. If you eat a lot though, I don't recommend coming here since it's weight based. One of my friends who eats a lot ended up paying ~$60 for his bowl, at which point AYCE hot pot would be much more worth it. The line can be pretty long if you go during busy hours.
Came on a Friday night and it was quite busy. You can add yourself on the waitlist in person and expect a text when your table is ready. Estimated wait time stated might not be accurate as I waited close to an hour when the posted estimated time was 35 mins. The inside is clean and nicely decorated with staff constantly cleaning tables as well as restocking the sauce bar and veggie/meat selection. Do note you pay AFTER you eat, not when you go to weigh your bowl. There are also free wonton chips placed at your table as you wait for your meal. My average rating is for the taste which I think is arguably one of the most important things to me. I found the signature bone broth to be quite bland and not have any depth of flavor or that mala spice despite getting flaming level of spicy. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit this place again as there is other better options for malatang in the area.
a little different from other malatang places i've been to. here, you wait for an assigned table before getting your food. this makes sense for the restaurant as there isn't any room for waiting. once you are assigned your table you are able to build your bowl. the will bring utensils, water, and fried wonton wrappers as an appetizer (they were super addicting). there was a good amount of ingredients. they will bring your bowl out to your table and they were pretty quick. broth was good, most similar to ygf (my go to) out of all the other malatang places i've tried. the broth still isn't as rich and doesn't have as deep as a flavor as ygf and is lighter in flavor but still overall good.

The self-service bar area is clean and variety of ingredients / toppings is plentiful. After you place your favorites into the bowl, you proceed to the cashier to pick out the soup base. It's strange why you can't just pay for the meal at this point since the staff already weighed the bowl...you have to head back to the register again after your meal to pay with the order paper they dropped off at your table when they bring the cooked bowl of food. The vegetarian soup base was okay. Don't really recommend it. Staff was also okay...seemed unhappy but not rude. Had to take off one star because one piece of my pork blood cake was missing. Grabbed 3 pieces and only 2 ended up in my cooked bowl of food. :( read more

Absolutely love this place. Food is very delicious, Tom Yum is my favourite soup base. All ingredients are fresh. Prices fair for this huge bowl. Service is super nice, quick and responsive. But! Be ready to be on wait list for about 30min to 1 hour on busy days. read more

My favorite chain for malatang! What sets this place apart is that the base soup isn't too salty, meaning that you can customize your salt level and utilize the sauce bar more. I also liked that they don't charge extra for the soup, meaning that you're only paying per pound for the ingredients. They have a wide variety of vegetables, meats, and noodles to add to your bowl. I got a little over a pound of ingredients and I felt very full after. My favorites were the sliced beef, pork intestine, and wide potato noodles. They also give wonton chips to each table, and they were the perfect snack. The complimentary sauce bar has everything you need to elevate your meal, I love using the garlic and sesame oil to add more flavor. Service was quick and they brought out our cooked soups very quickly, overall it's a great place for a casual but also delicious meal. read more
Rainy day and I wanted hot pot. YinTang Spicy Hot Pot turned up on my Yelp search. After reading reviews on several restaurants, I decided to try YinTang out. The restaurant wasn't super full at the time so I was lucky to get a table right away. The selection of meat and seafood was plentiful. I did not want meat anyway so only took one beef meatball, beef tripe, shrimp, scallops, fish cakes, lobster ball (of course imitation lobster), tofu, a whole bunch of vegetables and some ramen. The veggies were super fresh, nothing looked old or wilted. Very large selection. My broth choice was tom yum. They give you a humongous bowl after they cook your food choices. The tom yum broth needs some work. It was too sour, even after I added several spoonfuls of sugar which, fortunately they also have available on the sauces bar. It also needs more tom yum flavor, and not just the super sourness in the soup base. I love tom yum soup and have eaten a lot of tom yum noodles and soup on my recent trip to the Asia and all my life so that was the first thing I noticed: flavor and taste. Service was great. Malatang is one of my favorite foods and I've tried most of the big chains and even some smaller ones. My friend introduced me to YinTang and now it is definitely one of my favorite spots! There was no wait both times I went, and it's nice that they're open late. It's a perfect vibe if you're craving something soupy. I love that they have such a large variety of toppings here! I went with the beef bone broth medium and it was soo rich and the perfect amount of mala spice.I usually always have leftovers when I eat malatang at other places because they usually force you to get at least 1 pound, but there's no minimum here which is nice. They also gave wonton chips to add into your soup and added a really nice crunch. I've been back twice in a month and am craving it again while writing this :p read more

First time trying this location. We usually go to the one in Monterey Park. Food and everything is exactly the same. You build your bowl and they weigh it and add the soup base. I tried the yellow curry this time which was alright. Not as much flavor as I was hoping. The original bone base is definitely my favorite base from them. The only difference is this store is a lot bigger. More room and seats. This is a go to for Malatang for sure! read more
Came here a few minutes after Midnight for a late dinner. Place was small but still spacious. It's a build your own Hot-Pot style meal. It's priced per pound i believe $14.99 per pound. Food was fresh and constantly topped off. They also have canned sodas non on tap if you're looking for refills. I LOVED the House Broth so much. Will definitely get that next time. The tomyum was good very flavorful just a bit salty. I wanted to try one of the skewers, but unfortunately the cashier let me know Chef was too busy. Overall still a good spot for a late night meal. This place was ok. We had tried a couple different malatang places in OC. I will definitely say I'm not a huge fan. First off walking in, it was a little weird cuz we were just told number 7 table and she kept repeating it because we weren't going to sit down yet. As far as options go, it's a decent amount, however, I wasn't a fan. The broth was good and rich, more so of a pork bone broth. This place was cute, convenient location. It was our first time at YinTang Spicy Hot Pot and it was pretty busy when we got there. We put ourselves down on the waitlist and waited around 15 minutes for our table to be ready. There's lots of tables inside and warm lighting. It's a build your own malatang bowl priced at $14.99/lb. There was plenty of fish cake and noodle selections, but there were only two meat options: lamb and beef. We chose the Yellow Curry Broth and the Signature Bone Broth, and both were very mild in flavor. We wish that the broths had more depth in the flavor. It was a lot of food, so I had leftovers to take home. read more
Interesting concept restaurant where you pick your ingredients and choose your soup base. I got the Tomato soup base and it was actually quite good! It wasn't too sour or too bland, so it added a good flavor to the overall dish. I like that this place opens late since so many places around close early. The ingredients looked fresh and the place was clean. Downside to this place is, looks are deceiving! Since you are paying by the pound, you may end up paying for more than you think. Wouldn't be my go to spot for a bowl of soup, but definitely a solid place to check out for a late night meal. read more

I wanted to come to YinTang since I loved the Malatang place back at home - in the past year, this place has since become my go-to comfort meal. Plus if you're looking for a late night snack, YinTang is one of the few restaurants that opens til 2AM! If you aren't familiar with how Malatang works, the concept is similar to Yogurtland - you pick the ingredients that you want, weigh your selections to get your price, and pick out your desired broth. I've come here enough times that I now have a rough idea of how much the final price will be based on how much I put in my bowl. Compared to other Malatang places I've been to, Yintang has an amazing assortment of FRESH ingredients to pick from - there is truly something for everyone, whether you like the meats, the different fishballs, the noodles, or a variety of greens. My go-to broth is the Signature Bone Soup Base, but I recently broke free from my comfort broth to try the Yellow Curry Soup Base. And I have to say - that might now be my new default broth. I love that they have broth that is sippable on its own (with just the right amount of flavor). When I dine in, I also like that they provide complimentary sauce bar and wonton chips to munch on. After a long night of fun and drinks, nothing gets you ready for a nice long sleep into the weekend like HotPot. I've never had this type of hotpot before, and at YinTang you can select the proteins, veggies and noodles you want before the make it into a steaming bubbly bowl of goodness. We got the Tom Yum broth base and some lamb skewers as appetizers. If you're coming in as a couple, I'd recommend getting one large bowl versus two medium or large bowls - 1 large bowl is more than enough for two with everything loaded in, and ours came out to be about $57 after everything. The Hotpot came out quick, and was delish! Very clean ambiance, and pretty easy steps to follow if you're a newbie :) read more
Parking: decent now that the hype around Bafang and Menya have died down. Can still be tricky during dinner hours, but not too bad. Food: my favorite malatang in Irvine. Have tried the others, but I go back to Yintang because (to me) the taste of their signature broth is pretty "healthy"/clean. And their bowls make sense, meaning they don't splash back at you (referring to the place that starts with a "Z". Ingredients are fresh, great variety, and you can't beat $14.99 per pound. As much as Irvine has been the start of the malatang trend in Orange County, I'd have to say that they are getting outclassed by the Korean variations up in Buena Park. YinTang is a classic brand, and they have many of the classics of the genre with overall solid ingredients, but I'd have to say I was disappointed by just the overall flavor profile. I'm not sure if it was an off-night or if it's what I got, but I had the dry pot, and honestly it wasn't even spicy at all and had something of a peanut or sesame flavor, which is fine, but just not at all what I expected. It was solid, but it just did feel like something of a paltry dish for what it cost and what I expected. The service was fine overall, and this is a reliable joint for malatang and probably one of the cleaner places, but this was an admittedly off experience and I do want to give them another chance. They didn't have the stamp card which was a disappointment, I'm not really even sure they have the program or are just trying to run it out at this point, which admittedly is the norm these days. TIP: Perhaps try the traditional malatang. read more

Quick spot for some hot pot! $14.99/lb. Be careful not to grab heavy items cause it cause easily increase your bowl weight! You pay after you eat! My husband got the Tom Yum Soup Base which was really good and I got the Tomato Soup Base. There are varieties of options and a sauce bar as well. Huge line and long wait list every time! We have tried coming at different times and days of the week, and it's all the same. You're lucky to even get a parking spot in the super busy plaza. Once you get confirmation from the wait list hat your table is ready, grab a bowl and a pair of tongs to select what you want in a bowl that gets weighed at the front. Then you're given a key ring with your order number so they know where to bring your delicious food out to you when it's ready! They have a sauce condiment bar and also fried wonton chips for you to snack on while you wait. Food comes out steaming hot for you to enjoy. Then pay at the front when you're done! I like this concept, we need more restaurants like this. read more

Food is great here!! The prices are reasonable, and it is always clean. I am not the biggest fan of the broth, but that's just my preference. I like the meat quality, just wish there was more than 2 meat types as well. Service is adequate. read more
I have wanted to try this spot for a while. I got the signature bone broth and all my toppings. Spent a little over $30 but it fed me for 3 meals. I took the left overs home and made 2 more meals at home. Definitely worth the price, but it is initially pricey. The workers were kind and cleaned the tables quickly. Definitely would come back again! read more

Is there a soup with low sodium?
I doubt it. There are the Signature Bone, Tomato, Veggie, Tom Yum, and Yellow Curry Soup Bases. I'm sure some have less sodium than others but none of them are specifically billed as low sodium.
If you don't eat a lot. Can you get less then a pound?
Yes. My wife does not eat much, usually less than 1 pound. The total price is between $10-12 plus tax.
Is there a mushroom soup base for vegetarians?
There are only 3 soup bases here. you have Tom Yum, Tomato, and another one that is yellow and spicy. None of them have any meat in them. However, there are mushrooms in the ingredients line.
