What the lady at Bojangles called "butter". Far from it.

Have never eaten at Bojangles, and we were in need of a quick dinner. Biscuits are good. Macaroni and cheese was okay. Mashed potatoes tasted like they were made from a powder. We asked if "they" had butter, and the girl working the checkout said "Yes". She then said she threw four packets of something into our bag. Got back home and discovered - no butter. Instead she had put packets of 48% water, vegetable oil and chemicals. Gross. We tossed those. Well, we tried it! Won't be returning.

Road trip to North Carolina to the famed Tail of the Dragon. What do I notice driving thru Tennessee? For some reason I remembered back in the day a music duo at an old BBQ place in Driftwood, Texas that covered Mr. Bojangles circa 1970. My memory was from the late 80's or early 90's. The town we eventually settled in did have much in the way of viable cuisine. Plus, our first night was in New Orleans and we went wild for my birthday. So, couple of cheap meals to keep the trip budget in check. Friends and I decided to head back to Murphy, NC to check out the local antiques scene, grab some needed supplies from Walmart. Tried my first Cheerwine! After hitting the cute downtown scene; headed to Bojangles for their alleged 100 step biscuit making process. Might be stretching that last statement; but this key bread element dwarfs almost every chicky competitor out there. Eat your heart out Popeye's. We dined in which was nice; super friendly folks at the counter. We all ordered and sat down to tally the observations. The individual biscuit ordered stuffed with pimento cheese was something you can barely find in Texas (and friggin' amazing). I found the two meat white (breast, wing) lacking in the skin crunch category. So, I went back to the other plain biscuit and applied honey. Well, this was clearly a one bread race which this place OWNED. Friends at the table ordered the chicken sandwich; chicken strip plate. GF ordered her fave 3 wing plate. Sides were interesting. I mean, how is it Cajun pintos when the rest of the known south swears it's missing white rice? Dirty rice looked more like Chinese fried rice; mashed taters with brown gravy that put KFCs offering to shame. Green beans start out of a can and get some minor upgrades and were flavorful compared to local spots in Texas. In truth, Bojangles gets more stars for the biscuit and pimento cheese!

Been two times thru Drive thru to get two Cajun filet clubs and get home with just chicken lettuce and tomato. No bacon or cheese.

Shrimp and Grits? Three times, even better than some coastal restaurants. Grilled Salmon? A big 10 for the table. Deserts good, Bread Pudding (in GA?) large and spot on. I could go on. Oh, good wine list and bar. This location has been several things over the past 40 years and I have experienced most of them. We stopped considering it due to the instability/inconsistencies. This time, everything is grade A and has been consistently excellent on six different occasions over two years. Food quality and prep is now superb. Dinners are special and I am not sure it is the same kitchen of crew for lunches. The restaurant is housed in The Ridges which has a hotel that requires 3 meals per day. We travel the Southeast regularly and get to try Hotels and Restaurants along the way. Coming from the New Orleans and Tampa areas, we usually have high expectations for a restaurant.

It was happy hour, so we enjoyed HH Old Fashions before dinner. For starters, the chef sent out a wonderful spinach artichoke pastry app. We shared a Farmhouse Salad, and changed out the goat cheese to Blue cheese. For dinner, our server suggested Halibut and Short Ribs, so that is what we ordered. There was no rush and we enjoyed some wonderful tasting food!. Our service was perfect. Not rushed and there when we need her. The ambiance was supper club sophistication but with a casual vibe. It was so good, we plan to go back tomorrow night also!!

The beautiful fresh produce complimented the expertly cooked and seasoned proteins. There wasn't a single thing we ate that we didn't enjoy. In between meals, we made sure to stay active to earn our appetite. The property offers access to great trails in the Smokies which we took advantage of as well as a lovely outdoor pool with a view. The room itself was pleasant as well. It was hard to leave the luxurious king bed every morning. The heated floors in the bathroom and the comfy sitting area made our Holly Springs cottage suite the perfect home base. We were also assigned our own golf cart to get around the property (although we chose to walk mostly to take in the views). Service was top notch and the staff were wonderful. Every evening they surprised us with a little treat for our anniversary which was very thoughtful. We couldn't have asked for a better stay!

We decided to take the plunge and we are so happy we did. It's a 3 night minimum and frankly a great idea to take it all in. We enjoyed the following activities ; Fly Fishing, wine tasting , the spa , a farm tour , & tomato tasting. All were spectacular and unique to themselves. The culinary experience is nothing short of a Michelin experience for dinner. The price is all inclusive , sans your alcohol. The service is world class and the staff makes you feel so welcome. However, the level of experience and ability to unplug was extremely therapeutic. Hope you enjoy the review by LIKING it and sharing feedback :).
