My daughter and I were fortunate to have lunch here on the last day of the 2025 season. After a fun day on the Cloudsplitter Gondola and over at Santa's Workshop, we had to stop at a place I've been coming to since I was a kid. It didn't disappoint. My cheeseburger was great, my daughter's tenders were spot on, and - as always - the root beer was amazing. The "retro" decor is a lot of fun. We enjoyed the pictures of the old times and the menu sign from the 1960s. We look forward to returning next year. By the way, this location is leaps and bounds better than the location in Lake George. We ate there earlier in the week and it was quite disappointing. Once again, Wilmington A&W delivers! read more

Ended up here after our High Peak hikes (Esther and Whiteface). The staff was so friendly and attentive. Both indoor and outdoor seating was optional. It was a very cool retro vibe. Just has a classic root beer float and burger with fries. Would definitely return. read more

We stopped here for lunch after visiting the North Pole,ny. The staff were hustling because it was busy. They have inside seating and outside seating. The staff were extremely friendly and nice. I would hope the business would invest in maybe a rolled up canvas so the people eating outside aren't exposed to the elements when it gets cold or rains. I have always wanted to try this place and I decided it was finally time. I never knew how good a root beer float could be. Then you make it a blended float? AMAZING. It was so good and the small that I ordered was not enough enjoyment after all lol. I was only here for drinks but it was really really good and I'll be back again for some food and another float when I get the chance. This location has a large outdoor area and they even do car side service as well. Pricing was great and not too expensive and we got our drinks very quickly. I had such a good experience here! We dropped by after hiking and while deciding what to do, the server came right up to our car and handed us menus. He was super kind and patient with us through all the mask wearing and special precautions because of COVID! Also, I haven't had a rootbeer float in years and it was perfect. And the burgers and cheese curds were great. Staying in Lake Placid for a long weekend. Decided to drive out to Whiteface mountain area to go hiking. We found this A&W basically in the middle of nowhere. My son got the corn dog nuggets and loved them. My wife and I got cheeseburgers. They were great. Fries were fresh also. I have had A&W in other areas but being in a remote town I was leary. Root beer float was good (as I hoped it should be). The reason I didn't give it higher marks is because though the float was good, the coney dog was VERY salty. The hot dog itself isn't very good-whatever brand they use. The fries weren't bad but to pay $10 plus tip for a 5 inch dog, fries, and a drink is quite steep. I'm still a bit confused as to why they have waitresses at all. This is an outside eating hotdog joint. I understand that it employs locals but to charge as much as they do and pay tip.... $13 for a small dog, fries, and float is a bit much. I've been to many hot dog joints that know they have to charge a lot to make any money-but they also know not to add anything more to the already steep price by adding a gratuity service (that is not needed). read more

There used to be an A&W in my hometown but they shut it down years ago so when I stumbled upon this place while driving to whiteface we had to stop. As for the service, good but not great. Our food took so long to come out literally 20 minutes for fast food which is crazy. One of the waitresses who sat us was very nice but the boy who ended up waited on us was very slow and didn't seem like he knew what was going on. However i loves the food! I don't normally review Fast Food style places but once in a while I have to speak my mind. While heading up to White face Mountain we where all so hungry that we decided that if we stopped at A&W it would fill us up and be cheap.... wrong. The portions are really really small and the Prices are way above your average A&W restaurant. The service is a bit odd at this Drive Inn as well, The servers are more of a hassle than If I had got the food myself. Don't get me wrong I love the old drive Inn feel what I don't love are the Prices and Portions! Do yourself a favor and hit up the small Ice cream stand that serves burgers across the street or one of the other restaurants. This place just isn't worth the Money. read more

We pulled in expecting a drive in but it was quickly apparent this is a place to sit down with a server (curveball!). The burgers and fries were excellent and the combo comes with a giant frosted mug of root beer. The food is made fresh with each order, so it's hot and delicious. This isn't a fast food place with food wrapped in paper for $1, so don't go thinking it's a golden arches type place. The pricing is more like a grill than a fast food place. Stopped in for a quick burger fix while in the Whiteface Mountain area. Service was fast and friendly, burgers were good with fresh lettuce and the biggest red, ripe, juicy tomato slices. Fries were crispy and so were the onion rings. Wasn't totally thrilled with the chocolate milkshake - had an off chemical taste to it - but the rest of the meal was really tasty and quick. Wanted to stop there one more time before leaving (early October) but it closed by 4pm. Bummer. Wished they stayed open just a little later. Worst restaurant to go to if your starving! We had a party of 12. Everyone ordered and the waitress wrote down our order, and read it back to us.The food started to come out and food was missing or "coming right up" "hopefully" was what we were told. They were not busy when we arrived. As they were getting busier the food came out and still half the order missing.. the waitress was unprofessional and said that she "didn't know what to tell us" she was very rude and had an attitude. We were told excuses as to why she had an attitude, (she wasn't feeling good, and they were just super busy) again not our problem we are the customers from out of town and this whole experience was terrible. Management took care of our bill because of this young girls ignorance. So we would like to thank the owner and or manager. We weren't looking for a free meal, and this didn't have to be the outcome. We won't return because of your waitress so you may need to rethink her position. read more
