Unfortunately than I saw two gentleman slightly to my right on the bakery side one was doing something with a knife facing the front and his co worker was just standing there talking to him with a towel in his had doing nothing. They both continued just to chit chat the gentleman with the knife was done and they were just chatting on the bakery side. Another gentleman came out from the back deli side and I asked him if someone could help the one deli guy working cause the customer he was helping had a big order and he said no the other deli person was on lunch and those two guys were for the bakery. What?? Are you kidding me Raleys doesn't cross train the bakery people to help out deli ??????? It was a tall European person and a short guy with piercing on his nose. Waited for over 10 mins for sliced meat when they stood there and just chatted away. Terrible service !!

We would have spent more, but the rude lady at the bakery was cleaning and didn't acknowledge any of us or even look up. We gave up on buying anything sweet after standing there trying to get her attention for 10 minutes since apparently they only clean floors here and don't actually help customers. This same lady put her hoodie on and left and ended up right in front of us in Amanda's line checking out. These two conversed then we walked up. We said hello, no response. She kept her head down the entire time and refused to make eye contact or acknowledge us. That's fine. We paid for our items, but looked back and an older non brown lady walked up and she was greeted and treated with decency. This Amanda is probably the rudest cashier I've come across and we have Walmarts in our town. Lol IYKYK She is the reason this store should have self checkout. Next time in Yosemite or Mariposa, we won't be giving this store anymore of our hard earned money.

At 7:01, an announcement came on saying the store had been closed for one minute and to head to the register. Totally fair. I needed one more thing from produce so I hurried- another announcement at 7:02 said to "stop shopping- we are closed" I grabbed my last item and went up front. By 7:03, I was already being checked out. And yet the reaction from staff was... unbelievable. There were several employees standing at the front just staring at me--clearly irritated, like I'd personally ruined their evening. It was three minutes past closing. Not 30. Not 15. Three. Then it somehow got worse. They were out of bags (understandable), so I asked if I could use the hand basket to carry my items to my car, which was literally parked right in front of the doors to the store. I was told no, "these baskets cant leave the store"--and that I needed to go outside and get a cart instead. So I had to run out, grab a cart, and come back in... while the entire staff stood there watching me. There must have been 6 or 7 employees glaring at me with dirty looks like I had insulted them personally. The older checker was grumpy and rude, but honestly the whole team contributed to making the experience feel hostile and unwelcoming. I completely understand wanting to close on time. But if ringing someone up at 7:03 feels like a crisis to your staff, that's a management issue--not a customer problem. Also- why not sell reusable bags if you run out of bags so often? I would have bought one to make it faster for me to exit the store. Seems like a simple solution to avoid the extreme stress your staff is experiencing

We picked up some salmon from the meat department, which she offered to cut into 4 equal servings for 2 meals at our cabin, wine for 6 meals - LOL - some cooking veggies, a baguette and same day made fruit tart from the bakery, sliced roasted Boar's Head Turkey & provolone cheese from the deli for lunches, yogurts for breakfast, blueberries and grapes to snack and our total was around $85. Not bad for 5 days of provisions while staying at nearby Bass Lake. Each employee we met or asked assistance from was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We came in on a Saturday around 5pm and it seems it had been a long holiday week of tourism, but they were all great. The store was clean, easy to navigate and signs were all clear for aisle descriptions. Plenty of parking in the large lot as well. Cheers! "CC"

Several of the aisles were bare and we noticed that they raised the price of some of their goods. The new pricing may be to help them pay for the cost of the remodel - but, why remodel only to raise the prices and make it difficult for customers to navigate the aisles? Even the staff have trouble pointing out where the things are when asked. This is especially hard to grasp when our economy is at its worse times for the past several years. We're going to have to tighten our belts even more... and find a new grocery store to shop at. Sad!

Somehow, one store kept pulling us back, and that's Grocery Outlet. There are several reasons for that: (1) The store always looks clean and their shelves are well stocked. (2) 99% of the time, the checker welcomes you with a smile and wishes you a good day. (3) All the staff are trained well. (4) The music they play doesn't break your ear-drums. In fact, shoppers seem happy to hum or sing along, which breaks the ice and make shoppers appear happy. (5) They don't change things around unnecessarily so you know exactly which aisle to go to for the products you need. Overall, I think the owners have done a splendid job in training their staff, their music choice, and the environment they created.
