Several of the aisles were bare and we noticed that they raised the price of some of their goods. The new pricing may be to help them pay for the cost of the remodel - but, why remodel only to raise the prices and make it difficult for customers to navigate the aisles? Even the staff have trouble pointing out where the things are when asked. This is especially hard to grasp when our economy is at its worse times for the past several years. We're going to have to tighten our belts even more... and find a new grocery store to shop at. Sad! read more

Experience was absolutely terrible at the checker stand. The checker DALE was extremely friendly to the last guest before my group. After his friendly conversation with the previous guest, my friend approached and said hello to which she was ignored, didn't say anything until he gave her the receipt. Then it was my turn and I said hello and was also ignored and then he continued to scan items and throw them towards my boyfriend who was bagging the items because there was no bagger. He looked at my boyfriend and waited for him to finish bagging like if he was the employee. Never will I come to this location again. Vons needs to re consider their employees. read more

I used to enjoy grabbing a bagel here for breakfast, but I draw the line at eating something that looks like it survived a house fire. I think someone might need a refresher on how oven timers work. I actually brought this up to the bakery manager, who assured me with very little enthusiasm that it would never happen again. Well, fast-forward a few days, and guess what? More bagels burnt beyond recognition. I'm really hoping someone sees this review and has a heart-to-heart with the person in charge of the oven. I'm inclined to write this review. I don't typically write negative reviews. I usually will simply stop doing business where ever it was that I had a negative experience. This Vons, on the other hand... is another story. Specifically the experience I, and approximately 25 other customers had on February 7th, 2026 around 9:30 in the morning. If anyone from the corporate office reads this review, a quick search of my last name referenced through my vons card will show you how much business I do with your organization. It's always the same store. I usually have a pleasant experience. Today was not that. Not even close. I'll spare all the details, but someone will need to explain to me why only an express lane is open when I have around $600 of items (as did several other patrons). I wasn't about to clog up the express lane with my burdensome order- that'd be unfair to your other customers. I assumed self check out would be more acceptable (even though I would have to bag and ring up my items myself when I'm clearly paying a premium to shop at your establishment). I was quickly turned away and humiliated by the lady "in charge" of the self check out area. "Why would you think you can bring that in here??" I said I didn't want to, but I also didn't want to clog up the only check stand you have. SHE took my cart and pushed it aside- while my hands were still in the control zone the cart. Extremely hostile. This led to another one of your customers chuckle and say "wow... what is going on??" The checker paged for help three times when I was standing in front of the check stands. No one came. The "nice" lady at self check out said I would have to wait until 10:00 to check out because they "didn't have anyone for me now." I just stood there- didn't say a word and tried to dodge the troves of other customers As they continued to que up in front of the check out area. 10, 15, 20, 25 customers deep.... On a single check stand! A courtesy clerk walked up to me and apologized. Finally the store director walked out- said nothing and opened another check stand. No communication with the rest of the staff and he was clearly irritated for having to do so. Additional employees appeared shortly thereafter after. The checker I ended up getting was sweet as pie- this is in no way a review of her. She was great- the only silver lining in this ordeal. Besides that, the overnight stocking crew was everywhere- which is fine, but they could definitely learn how to better interact with the public. A simple "excuse me" as you push a cart full of supplies across a customer's path would go a long way. Maybe require your overnight crew to shower once in a while also. Walking past them was rough- not just one, but several- to the point where it's clearly an issue. All this to say.... It's a tough job. I get it. Thousands of people with unpredictable transaction flow. Forecasting that can be hard. But can we at least have some people that are halfway friendly? Starting with the store director. He's the one that allows this to happen and demonstrates how to treat a customer. Maybe it was just an off day. But in my world of business it's simply inexcusable. Be better and most importantly, try harder. read more

Since we only have 3 grocery stores in the mountain area sometimes we are forced to shop here. Of the 3 Von's has the largest selection, having said that this store is beyond filthy. They never have enough checkout people so the lines are super long and it takes you 20 to 25 minutes to checkout. There are many out of date items so check the expiration date on the items you purchase. Also, never, ever use their bathrooms. There is dirt piled up on the floors (never washed), no toilet seat covers, horribly dirty toilets, no soap in the containers or paper towels. The outhouses in Yosemite are cleaner than the bathrooms in Von's. I have contacted Corporate, but apparently they don't care. read more

Lana in Vons bakery in Oakhurst, California made the most delicious birthday cake for my granddaughter. In addition to the cake, the decorations were beautiful. One evening, returning late from Yosemite and not wanting to wait to be seated at local restaurants, we decided to get sandwiches from Vons. We are used to grocery stores at home making really good sandwiches. Unfortunately, sandwiches from Vons didn't measure up to this deliciously- high standard. The Vons sandwiches were just ok - bread, meet and other ingredients didn't sing a single aria of deliciousness but rather each ingredient separately declared its intent to take over the palette. Also, we weren't impressed with the service. The person who was making my husband's sandwich didn't project willingness to be helpful. The person making my sandwich didn't exhibit product knowledge that would have showcased which ingredients go best together. Usually find what I'm looking for and when I can't, the team is helpful and willing to actually bring me to where I can find what I need. The "self-checkout" is particularly helpful, yet at times challenging. Somehow Dana always seems to be there right when needed. She warmly welcomes the opportunity to help me out. Her great attitude is exemplary and a refreshing addition to the experience; always with a smile, patient, engaging. It is a pleasure to work with Dana. Place in the order with the Vons in Oakhurst is a hit-and-miss. Sometimes you get the order, sometimes you don't. You Pay for a delivery time and it's rarely in between those times. It is also rarely correct. I paid for a year and I'm not even going to finish it out because because they are useless. When you call the store it's even worse. They always blame someone else like doordash when They are the one receiving the money, they are the ones actually picking the order, and they see the order sitting there for hours and hours but don't bother to check to see why it has not been delivered. Anybody who's thinking about spending $99 a year for this, You may want to think again. Just to add on, I finally got my receipt 2 hours after has already been late and and now it says instead of delivering in enchilada sauce they're sending me guacamole sauce mix. This Vons is deceptively sized; the outside isn't too remarkable, but it's a massive store - much bigger than any Safeway store in San Francisco. My friend and I were absolutely stunned upon walking in, and it became our go-to while we were in Yosemite. This is the perfect place to stock up for your trip! They have it all, and the prices are very reasonable considering the location. (Read: there isn't a massive mountain mark-up - or any mark-up, really.) read more

Was trying to order from the bakery today and 2 associates were bagging bread and I kindly asked if anyone was working the cake section and the lady in the back was extremely rude. A simple "how can I help you?" Or "be right there" would have suffice. But she greeted me with sarcasm and annoyance. Please be more courteous and respectful to your customers. This Vons is pretty much like many other Vons Supermarkets anywhere. This one is bigger than the Vons I sop at in my home town. The deli here is very big, but didn't stock as much ready to eat items as I am used to seeing. Due to its proximity to Bass Lake, Yosemite etc, it had a bigger selection of camping and outdoor items though. The staff seemed nice enough, and they had plenty of checkout lines open. For those who don't know, Vons is the same as Safeway, just a different location. You have a choice of Vons or Raley's (Nob Hill) for groceries here in Oakhurst. I used to work in a Safeway Bakery and if our products looked subpar then they would go in the trash. Every-time I come here, the bakery just looks terrible. I am just shocked at the product they put out. The picture I posted is of a strawberry pie. The shell was only half full with no whip cream. People definitely don't get their money's worth. Their cake was very sloppily decorated. You shouldn't see most of the sides of the cake, you should see frosting covering the whole cake. (Unless it is a naked cake) read more

They've got some great employees. They've got some not so great ones. Only reason I left only 3 stars is because I needed some batteries which they have locked up. No problem they have a button to page someone to help you. I stood infrastructure of that battery case for at least 15 minutes waiting. No one ever came. I pressed the button again and still no one. It became evident they were looking for the keys to the case after a bit I could see a manager and a couple employees looking around but none had felt the need to come to tell me they were sorry for the wait and would help me when they could locate the keys. By the time they found them i had made it through self checkout. I was frustrated and really didn't want to go back theough line and have one of them have to escort me. I think you should be aware of the language that one of your employees is using in a vons . I was shocked to hear him repeatedly refer to some children with words such as "bastards" or "dwarfs." I couldn't believe my ears. He seemed to think it was funny. I don't know how many people he has offended, but I found it so offensive that I don't want to go into that part of the store again. I personally feel he has no place interacting with the public when he lacks the most basic sense of propriety and kindness. Damn this place is shady asf ngl. Came in early morning in 2 cars tryna fill up on food so we can hit Yosemite. We had a pretty big group but damn you don't gotta follow us man. Online says open until 12am. We came at 11:50pm looking for just some ice cream and snacks on our last day of vacation. Wasn't told anything when we walked PAST THE EMPLOYEES and said nothing. When we picked out our snacks it was 11:55pm. That's when two employees rudely told us they're closed and to leave and there's no one to check us out. We then mentioned "online it says you're open until 12?" In a very nice tone. They still told us no and they're closed and one tried to argue that it is twelve WHEN IT IS LITERALLY 11:55pm. Went to our local Vons in Oakhurst to get some fried chicken Told the man behind the counter that I wanted a 16 piece chicken special. He gave me 8, I walked back up to the counter and said I ordered 16 pieces not 8. They put it in bags which leaked grease all over the place. I took it home prepared to serve it to my family and it's raw inside. LOL. I guess I'm not the only one who thinks this Vons deserves its props. It might just be a small town thing because I always get the best customer service in small towns. I'm not sure if there's even any other grocery stores near by other than Vons and Raley's, you probably have to go back to Fresno. We come here getting a bunch of supplies, food and drinks, and we basically got in an out with no problems. Almost all registers (regular and self-serve) were open with employees and no big wait. I've been to many other grocery stores, not going to name the company or where but it's almost always in a larger city or town, if I was lucky maybe two registers and lines would be 5/6 customers deep in the same time of day which makes me shop late at nights or early mornings. There were actually employees around, working, helping out customers, being nice and friendly, asking customers how things were, etc. Having worked in retail in the past I really appreciated it and always frown on places that don't show good customer service. What else I liked about this Vons!? clean, organized, selves were filled and maintained, carts were collected, etc during the busiest time of the day. Store Manager would be proud, no doubt. Stopped in to stock up on supplies during our National Parks loop. I thought the place was expensive. Especially for fruit and veggies and prepared foods. $6.99 for a lb of strawberries. When I got them for $1.25/$1.49 at Albertsons and FoodMaxx this same week. You need a frequent shopper card. Apparently the card I picked up 2 years ago on my last California trip had expired from inactivity. Its the biggest Vons Ive ever been in for such a small town...or a large town for that matter. You can get just about anything here. Except ONE thing, Skirt Steak in a value pack. Ill admit it. I kick ass when it comes to making carne asada. I mean I'm REALLY GOOD at making carne asada. I make it with love, patience, salt, pepper, fresh oregano, garlic and 1/2 a can of beer . The meat dept has tons of pork, steak, and chicken value packs... more than I've ever seen. But for some reason I only find small individual packages of skirt steak. Very nice grocery store. Had everything we needed for our weekend adventures. The store was very clean and staff was polite.

Despite a CA mandate requiring face coverings when in public places and a sign outside their door further requiring anyone entering to wear a mask, at least about 20% of the people inside this Vons had no face covering of any kind. When I asked one patron about the face covering requirement, he responded by asking if I was management. I was hoping that perhaps employees of this chain would try and adhere to the rules of cooperation and common sense but found this not to be the case when my check out process was stopped by someone, I'm assuming was a manager, in order for him to clear up some scheduling issue. If I knew there was a Von's in this area I would have gone here to shop for groceries instead of Raley's. I came to Von's when I was told by another employee at another store that indeed there was a Wells Fargo bank inside Von's. I needed to get some cash for any travel emergencies and I'm glad my bank was nearby. There was only 1 person in line for teller service and I person at the ATM, which made both of my transactions quick. The people here are friendly and I was able to do what I needed to do.
