Great food love the daily specials. Too many flies but hey it's Texas it's hot but that's my only complaint

Disappointing. Wanted my usual 2 meat combo of ribs and sliced brisket when trying out a new BBQ place. On this Fri afternoon they were out of ribs having been consumed by a hearty RR crew from KCS (LOL, that happens). Instead the slicer offered me burnt ends in place of the ribs...yeah buddy!!! First, the burnt ends were awesome and lived up to their reputation as the "pitmaster's candy". They were cooked perfectly, had an excellent seasoning on them and melted in your mouth. Unfortunately, the brisket disappointed. Seemed overcooked. The slices crumbled into tiny pieces just by looking at them almost. There was a smoke ring, but no smoke flavor at all. If I had been served this with my eyes closed, I would have thought it was roast beef... without gravy. [Odd thing: the slicer cut the brisket at a 45° angle, outside to in, instead of typical vertical cut; I've never seen that before. I can't imagine what that accomplishes except to make the brisket appear thicker than it really is.] I had mac 'n cheese & potatoe salad sides. These were ok, nothing noteworthy, but I don't go to a BBQ joint for the sides. I'll probably try again but will leave the brisket with the slicer. read more

Wylie finally has real BBQ! I forgot to ask for center-cut ribs, but, the flavor in the substantial bark made up for the dryness that's intrinsic in the little ribs from the end of the rack. The sausage is juicy and flavorful with a nice coarse grind. Plus, keeping in mind it's bbq, the prices aren't exuberant. read more

Very bland and dry meat. Sides were ok as well. Dickies is better and that's pretty bad bc I don't like Dickies!

Must visit! Staff is very friendly, big smiles and positive attitudes! Space is rustic and designed very cleverly. Now, the food... yum yum in my tum tum! I had the brisket and Turkey with fried okra and mac n cheese! Brisket was moist and dripping with luscious juices. Turkey had great smoked flavor! Fried okra was fresh from the fryer, hot, perfectly seasoned and crunchy. The mac was chocked full of cheese and decadent and mmmmm. What else can I say? Just go people! read more

There are so many amazing BBQ places in Texas, it's hard to earn 5 stars. These folks give it their best shot. The brisket was tender and juicy. Sauces were decent and I like that they're not a big chain. Service was fast and friendly. It was a little pricy but I think BBQ in general is pricy. read more

I ordered sausage, ribs, mac n cheese, and potato salad. The sausage was absolutely juicy and basically melted in my mouth. The casing wasn't rubbery or chewy at all. Now I know where to go if I want juicy and tasty sausage. The ribs were ok, but I had some fat on them, which I didn't eat. Definitely not the best ribs like Blues City Cafe in Memphis, but they weren't bad. The mac n cheese was good and it did taste fresh and homemade. I could definitely taste the sharp cheddar. Now, the potato salad. It's my fault that I didn't read the menu about the potato salad. I prefer my potato salad to have sweet relish and mustard in it. They serve a mayonnaise based country potato salad and it was actually pretty good. The barbecue sauce was one that I have never had before. I'm not sure if they put oregano in this barbecue sauce, but it definitely tasted and smelled like oregano was in there. Maybe if I had the barbecue sauce more often, I would enjoy the flavor more. However, I wasn't too fond of it. Overall, I give 4 stars because the sausage was so succulent! read more

WOOOOOOOOW! I love the vibe,music, and food. We ordered the brisket nachos and regular sausage. The nacho cheese was for sure homemade and the serving was perfect to share. The sausage had the perfect snap and smoky flavor. I had to get cobbler and I did not regret it so delicious. Will be back for that grilled cheese. read more

I've always liked this place and raved about how delicious their food is! Beyond disappointed with them tonight though. I tried to contact to place a to go order. They said they were not taking to go orders at this time and would not even take it if someone came in to the restaurant to place. I get restaurants are short staffed right now but this is beyond ridiculous that they turn away a customer that is in the restaurant to place a to go order! I really want this place to succeed, not only because I love BBQ, but because they're local and in downtown too. We had brisket, turkey, regular sausage, ribs, beans and blue cheese cole slaw. Portions of meat were weighed before being plated. I understand the need to do this from a business perspective, but it's potentially off-putting to the customer, who will have a negative view of it if they think the portion is on the skimpy side (which I did.) Trust your employees to serve the right portion or train them to do so. Aside from the sausage, all the meat was dry and the flavor was very mediocre. If you make dry brisket in Texas, you got issues. The blue cheese cole slaw had too much cheese making the consistency thick and did not taste good. They have a bunch of unique soda flavors, but the lemonade I had was watered down and not very sweet. The beans were really good and the BBQ sauce was decent. But that was about all that we liked, and not worth coming back for. I'm suspect of all the positive reviews this place has, but maybe it's a consistency issue and we got them on a bad day. I do want this place to succeed, but I can't say I'll be back to find out. read more

I am soooo glad this place opened near my house. I went here on a Saturday night with my wife and 3 extremely picky kids. The food was amazing! We ordered two of the 3 meat plates and got the kids brisket sliders and shared everything family style. The portions are huge and this was plenty for a family of five to share. We tried each type meat they offered except the turkey, which they were out of. All the meat was super tender except the pulled pork, which was pretty dry. The rib meat just fell off the bones and the brisket just melted in your mouth. As for the sides we got several Mac n cheeses, okra, cole slaw, and beans. All of it was perfection. The okra is the best I've ever had, not sure what they cook it with, but it was addictive. We'll definitely be coming back here, great bbq, great service, and great prices. read more

This was our second visit and high expectations based on our prior visit. However, what a major drop off. Ordered the special Frito bowl and what a letdown. The bottom of the bowl had an inch of water which made the chips soggy and the bowl not thick that should be with the brisket and beans. The bowl had no flavor whatsoever. My wife had a bland brisket sandwich that lack any flavor or wow factor. The side of Mac n cheese was subpar as well. read more

Great BBQ!! Loved the brisket and sausage. The spicy bbq sauce is to die for but gets super spicy after a few bites. Their macaroni and cheese is better than any Mac n cheese I've ever had. I could eat just a bowl of that!!! Bold will definitely be our new place to get bbq. read more

My husband and I were in Wylie for a conference a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed a LOT of great Texas BBQ while we were in TX. Bold BBQ was definitely some of the best we had. I had pulled pork and brisket -- DELICIOUS!! My hubby had pork and chicken and enjoyed it very much. Located in a quaint downtown, it was a great place to visit. They kindly opened their doors and hosted some of us from the Christian Comedy Association convention and let us (hopefully) entertain their clients. Great place, wonderful food, excellent value, fun environment. I hope the conference is there again next year just so we can go back! read more

Oh man this is some of the best BBQ I've ever had!! The sauce is delicious and the meat is seasoned perfectly! Portions are a little small but the sides fill you up and they have a variety. The first time I tasted Bold BBQ was when they catered our company Christmas lunch. That delicious BBQ is the same now as it was at our Christmas lunch. The tender beef and fall off the bone ribs are to die for. The potato salad is the best I have tasted since my granny made potato salad. My husband enjoyed his brisket stuffed potato. I had the one meat plate of jalapeno sausage, mac n cheese and blue cheese slaw, and was not super impressed with any of it. The sausage had a very overly smoky flavor. The mac was average. Blue cheese slaw was interesting, but not sure I would order again. I will try the potato next time. read more

Go for the awesome smell of smoked meat, but stay for the delicious food! We went at the recommendation of one of my former colleagues who works there and we were so glad we did! I'm not a huge fan of BBQ mainly because I can never find sides I like, but here they have a nice variety! Husband and I got the brisket, pulled pork, jalapeño sausage, and alligator sausage. I love that they ask whether you want lean or marbled brisket because I am not a huge fan of fat, so the leaner cut was very nice and flavorful. The owner there actually talked us into also getting the brisket egg rolls and those were yummy! So unique and delicious. We also had the blue cheese slaw, side salad, and green beans. All good! I love that the side salad actually had veggies in it and wasn't just a pile of iceberg lettuce. Their BBQ sauce was great too, although the meat didn't need it! The best thing though was the peach cobbler for dessert! Heavenly! We will definitely be back! They've made a BBQ lover out of me. read more
