Seriously good BBQ, in Rowlett, who knew? Thanks fellow Yelpers! Great sides and all served hot and fresh. Meat was flavorful and tender. Came w sauce but didn't need it. They were out of ribs, disappointing but that's how good BBQ goes... Father is the cook and owner (Lico) and the daughter is cashier and everything else. Nice hard working family restaurant. Support local family business! Most importantly this was very good food at a great price (for BBQ) Highly recommend!

This is what you get on a three meat combo, for $21

2.5 stars This seems to be a place that is family owned and operated, and I'm sure they are very proud of their restaurant and product. Looks like they have a good following, and loyal customers. They seem like nice people. As far as my review, it really depends on where your bar is set for barbecue. My bar is set pretty high, so I'll try to be reasonable. it just may be the best barbecue location in Rowlett. I am aware of another spot down the road across the lake, but it looks to be more of a home cooking/barbecue place. I haven't been there yet either. I was very clear when I asked for my brisket on what I wanted. Very specifically asked for lean brisket, cut from the end of the flat anyone who cuts meat for a living knows exactly what I'm saying. Yet, that's not what I got. It was Liane, but not , the same. The smoke ring was very minimal. The ribs I thought were pretty great. The sausage was very middle of the road. Mac & cheese was very runny and had very little flavor. The beans were actually really good as well. You have to buy drinks by the bottle, which I'm not a fan of since there are no refill options. The place was super quiet, mainly because I was the only one there until another lady walked in. If you're in Rowlett, you want barbecue, I would probably recommend this over Dickies. They have established, set hours of operation. However, I tried to have lunch here on Tuesday, but they were closed. Possibly because it was the day after Labor Day and they wanted another day off. Anyways, I'm sharing some photos of my tray of food, along with updated prices, as of September 6, 2024

Excellent Texas style bark! Really good bbq, probably the best in Rowlett. Friendly service. Would definitely go again!

The did was plentiful and tasty. The brisket was tender and seasoned accordingly. The corn was tender and had a beautiful color, with delicious favors. I enjoyed this sauce as well. Prices were also reasonable.

I'll keep it simple, I WILL be back. The food is great, the portions are GENEROUS, and the owner is very grateful to serve his customers. Don't let the prices hold you back. Each plate is a full 2 servings. Don't wait, GO!!

I highly recommend trying out Lico's. The ribs were perfectly cooked and so juicy. Just enough bite. The sauce had a slightly sweet flavor, but it was so good. The Mac and cheese was also very well made. I'll definitely be stopping by the next time I'm in the area. Only $13.95 for 5 bones and 2 sides!!!

So my daughter and I just tried out the Bar-B-Que place Licos. We split a dinner plate of Ribs, and 2 side. The ribs where really great, the sides where fantastic the charo beans are something different and I loved them. The place is very clean and nicely redone the owner is supper friendly and good to chat with, I highly recommend giving them a try. I looked and they don't seem to have a FB page yet so I will leave information in this post. They open where Fritz's old place was.

    Brisket lunch special

Good place to eat, and I'll be back. Visited at 12:30 on a Monday afternoon. Ordered the brisket lunch special. Brisket, 2 sides and Texas toast, $13.95. Brisket is tender, but as others have said lacks a little flavor. Needs more salt and pepper in the rub. Pieces of almost all bark had almost no s&p flavor. Served sliced very thin, but it was a good quantity and good value. I'll ask them to slice thicker next time. I ordered charro beans and Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese was good, beans had an excellent flavor. Sopping up the bean juice with the Texas toast was perfect. Very friendly folks and a good deal. They have some daily specials on the front windows. Good addition to Rowlett, and worth a stop in.

Grand Opening September 2, 2022 Rowlett, Texas newest BBQ restaurant has now opened at 3390 Lakeview Parkway (across from Panda Express) Family-owned & operated, a very nice dining room for 20. This is a smokehouse, your selections will not need sauce, but if you must, Lico's offers BBQ sauce, too. I tried the St. Louis Ribs, and Lico did a good job with the smoke, while keeping the moisture. Plump little ribs! Same with pulled pork, plenty of juice, plent of flavor. He did a good job with turkey breast, not any of it dry. Green beans had some bite, not soggy. Charro beans, a bit of zing, but no afterburner. These are Po'boy beans! They offer salads here, with meats mixed in, so you can get your cold veggies. Best wishes, buena suerte, bendiciones!

First time tonight seriously everything was excellent even the homemade bbq sauce. The owner came by to greet us and gave us peach cobbler for dessert to take home. Go for lunch it's a generous portion and it'll save you a little $

It never disappoints one of the best barbecue joints on planet Earth rivals Austin BBQ I would put this up against any barbecue in Texas it is phenomenal it is affordable it is quite delectable The staff is friendly and courteous and the only thing that I would say is that I wish I could get more sauce like a gallon or two to keep around the year it is great Their food really does not need sauce however the sauce just puts it over the top ten outta ten !

Super friendly welcome from the wait staff and it turned out the owner was working too. Great conversation. Started with the armadillo eggs which are deep fried Jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and served with ranch. These things are a weakness of mine and I ate the entire order. Next had a two meat platter with brisket and jalapeño cheese sausage. Sides were fried okra and broccoli. They have their fried food game down. Okra was hot and crispy and well seasoned. Delicious. The broccoli tasted like homemade steamed broccoli and was the exact texture I like. My brisket was super tender and tasty and the sausage was satisfying. I used the spicy sauce which gave everything a kick. Finished with the banana pudding with nilla wafers. Stuffed! Delicious meal and so friendly - I'll be back maybe for when they have live music on a weekend.

My only issue with this place is the miniature sides provided. What most places might use for serving some gravy or other sauce. They use for your sides. I went specifically for their signature dish (the one they proudly call themselves the "Home of the Chicken Fried Brisket"), and it delivered exactly what everyone raves about. They take a thick, oak-smoked brisket slice--already juicy, tender, and loaded with smoky flavor and perfect bark--then coat it in a craft-beer batter and fry it up. The crust comes out shatter-crisp and golden, never greasy or soggy, while the brisket inside stays beefy and moist. That peppery burnt-end gravy poured over the top is rich, savory, and ties everything together beautifully with a scoop of skin-on mashed potatoes on the side. It's pure Texas comfort food genius--smoky BBQ meets Southern fried steak in the best possible way. I'd order it again in a heartbeat (it's a Tuesday special or weekend brunch treat, so plan accordingly). The rest of the BBQ holds up just as strong. Their regular brisket (flat and point) is consistently juicy, tender, and smoky with that killer bark everyone mentions. Sides and other meats are solid too--no weak links. The house beers are fantastic and pair perfectly with the rich, smoky food (the rustic, woodsy vibe in the historic downtown Garland spot makes it even better for lingering over a pint). Service is friendly and the whole place just feels welcoming. If you're in Garland or nearby and love bold Texas BBQ with a creative twist, Intrinsic is a must. The chicken-fried brisket alone is worth the trip--don't sleep on it! Highly recommend for anyone who wants great smoked meats, great beer, and something uniquely delicious
