Very good, will definitely come back to try the other interesting menu items. They also serve up some burgers and chicken sandwiches.

Other than that, my order was simple: brisket, pork ribs, pork belly burnt ends, and a side of their brew brisket beans. The brisket was a thick slice that was moist and flavorful. I love those chunky slabs of brisket. There is just something about a thicker cut that knocks skinnier cuts out of the park. The pork ribs were juicy and tender. I rarely get pork belly burnt ends over a sausage, but they are always a treat like they were here. Just a little taste of heaven. The beans were savory, hearty, and well seasoned. I was pretty impressed by them as well. The team working was super conversational and friendly. The guy in front of me was having his first taste of Texas barbecue, and they were being super helpful making sure he got a true, flavorful experience. This spot feels hidden but is worth the trip. There were quite a few people hanging around enjoying the excellent barbecue. Worth the pit stop and worth the drive if you live anywhere in the DFW metro. This was my third time attending a private event at Hermann Marshall, and unfortunately, it was the first time I experienced what I felt was inconsistent and disappointing service. As part of the event, the host offered complimentary mixed drinks served by Hermann Marshall staff. My server was Mary Ann, who I understand is married to the manager/owner. Mary Ann initially served me one complimentary Old Fashioned, which, as usual, was very good. About an hour later, I returned to the bar for another. At that point, Mary Ann placed her hand over the Old Fashioned dispenser and told me they were no longer serving complimentary drinks because the prepaid limit had been reached. She then told me I could purchase one if I wanted another drink. I had no issue with purchasing a drink, so I got my debit card and purchased a smoked Old Fashioned. What I found confusing, however, was that there appeared to be a significant amount of the premixed Old Fashioned remaining in the dispenser. Approximately an hour later, while getting food near the bar, I saw Mary Ann serve another attendee an Old Fashioned from the same container she had previously told me was no longer available for complimentary drinks. I asked Mary Ann why I had been charged for my drink while another attendee was still receiving complimentary Old Fashioneds. Her response was unclear, but she ultimately told me that if I wanted another drink, I would need to pay for it. From what I observed, however, other attendees were continuing to receive complimentary Old Fashioneds within the limit established by the party host. What made the situation particularly disappointing was not having to pay for a drink--I was perfectly willing to do that--but rather the inconsistent treatment and lack of transparency regarding how the complimentary drinks were being distributed. I have been a consistent patron of Hermann Marshall, attending Tuesday Bingo nights, happy hours, and other events, and I have also brought friends with me. Unfortunately, this experience left me feeling uncomfortable and disappointed, particularly given the circumstances surrounding the event. I believe all guests should receive consistent and transparent service, regardless of who they are. Based on this experience, I will no longer be supporting Hermann Marshall or recommending HM to friends. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as this was a very different experience from the positive experiences I've had at Hermann Marshall in the past.

Kiesha Davis recommends Jeff's BBQ. I am not cooking dinner tonight. But guess who is! Jeff's BBQ! But a small trailer on 78 just north of Lavon near Giddy Up gas station. I do not like mayo potato salad but ooh my gosh this is the best! I ate all of it! My husband wanted macaroni salad but Jeff's BBQ offers pasta salad. My husband doesn't like tomatoes but he ate every bite of the pasta salad even said the tomatoes were great! Also, we both had the pinto beans, and yes they were awesome also! Now we're not vegetarians so we ordered sliced brisket AND sausage. Let me tell you... this barbeque is amazing! The flavor can't be beat! You can taste the long hours of smoking the meat! So if you're hungry or just don't want to cook , stop by Jeff's BBQ and get a great meal to take home or you can even eat at his picnic tables since it's so nice outside right now! It took about 10-15 minutes before anyone came by. Our server was friendly, but he didn't write anything down for our party of seven, and we ended up repeating our drink order. That should have been the first sign of how the rest of the night would go. We ordered the platter ($23), and the portion was surprisingly small: two BBQ meatballs, two mac and cheese bites, queso, and a tiny basket of chips. The food runner who dropped off the meals was rude, and the portion sizes overall were shockingly small for the price. The only dishes that felt worth ordering were the penne pasta and the pork chops. The short rib tasted great, but for $30, the portion was extremely underwhelming. When we ordered another round of drinks, mine was forgotten -- again, likely because nothing was written down. I had to let our server know it never arrived. He apologized and came back to say the bartender was busy and working on it. The bartender eventually brought it out personally. What really added to the disappointment was that the server noticed we had gifts and asked what we were celebrating -- but this was after we were already paying and packing up. I had noted on the reservation that we were celebrating Mother's Day, but even without that, it's something you typically acknowledge at the beginning of the meal, not at the very end. And based on other reviews I've read, this seems to be a pattern: instead of genuinely trying to fix issues, they either apologize in a way that feels empty or blame the customer for their experience. So I'm sure they'll have something to say about this review too. Can't wait for the response. Do better. Also, be aware -- because they do NOT mention this -- that parties of six or more are automatically charged a 20% gratuity. With the level of service we received, it felt unfair. If you're going to charge high prices, the service needs to reflect that. It didn't. We won't be returning. And honestly, the 1‑star reviews are accurate. Just prepare yourself. $400 dinner for lack luster experience ‍
