The staff here were great! We have not been here before, and they showed us all the options available for seating - and yes, there are options. We had a party of 8, with kids, so finding a place where we were comfortable was important to us. The waiter was patient and kind to us. Now for the food. It's going to be a mixed review. Some things were good and some not so much. We started with the deviled eggs with brisket. The eggs were bland and the brisket was the only real flavor - this was a miss for me. I love deviled eggs and there's so much to making them great - and the flavor was missing here. The potato skin appetizer was really good. It was covered in cheese and they were tasty. Backyard Murphy is a fun place to gather with friends. They periodically have live music in the back; I especially love coming when Dave Semans is playing. It's so fun to listen to the music and eat as the sun sets. The outdoor area has bright red picnic tables and Astro turf like grass. Tables are covered to provide shade. The grilled chicken sandwich comes with a very generous portion of chicken. The bun is toasted to perfection. The lettuce is fresh and crisp. Sweet potato fries are thin and perfectly cooked. The pork beans were tasty, though rather salty. The chicken in the chicken tacos is very tender and flavorful. The tacos are full and toppings are tasty. They were very accommodating for sauces on the side. I was surprised how much I loved these tacos! The servers checked in on us several times to make sure we were taken care of. Backyard Murphy served its purpose for us this past weekend when we needed a place big enough for a large group to enjoy some lunch after we celebrated a kids birthday at a nearby facility. This place has lots of seating and a big enough space we could all sit together. It's kind of sport bar ish, just not as many televisions lol. The service was great. The young who waited on us did a great job. I look back at myself when I was in my late teens and honestly I could not have begun to wait on a group as large as ours, but he did it and made no mistakes and we were well attended to. The food was ok. This is not a gourmet dining type place. We had a few appetizers, like the brisket deviled eggs, the potato skins, and the jalapeño "peppa" poppers. I would not order the deviled eggs again, and likely not the poppers either, but the potato skins were spot on. My main entree was the El Paso Chicken, which essentially was a grilled chicken breast, covered with queso. Of all the meals at the table, many of which I had a taste of (yes, we are THAT family lol) I think I had the best meal. As far as sides go, the sweet potato fries are really good and I don't even like sweet potato fries! I liked theirs though! This place is a zoo on weekends with kids running everywhere unchecked by their clueless parents who are too busy drinking and talking to watch their own kids. Saturday afternoon there were like a dozen kids from a soccer team actually kicking balls all around into people trying to enjoy a drink and meal. The teams coaches and parents of all these kids weren't even there, they were next door at Yard Dawgs without a clue what was going on next door. Management should control this better but ignores it because they don't want to piss off these clueless parents. Also, like my last review the service sucked having to wait to get noticed, wait to get a drink, wait to get food. There were plenty of servers ( school was out since it was Saturday) so not sure what the problem was. Used to be a good place to go till it turned into a McDonalds play area that sells alcohol. read more

I went and the food is terrible. Nacho were crushed tiny chips and burnt under a heat lamp. Domestic Beer in an aluminum bottle was $10. Burgers are dry and no flavor for $13. So for a family of 4 it would cost over $90 for 1 burger each and 1 soda each, 1 beer and a tip and the food is not good. You can take your family anywhere for that price. The food was reallyyyy good. Definitely one of the best steaks I've had in the last while. Great flavor, perfect cook. We also got tequila Bloody Marys, and they were good too. My wife complimented their mix and mentioned how they tasted pickle juice heavy. It was delish. The service was great, everyone was incredibly sweet and very prompt. By "Brownie Sundae" dessert was a brownie sitting on a plate next to a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The brownie, for some reason, tasted like someone had spilled their coffee on it. Service was ... adequate. The ambience.... it was loud. SO LOUD. It was not a large place, but there has been no effort at all made to diminish the noise levels. Their brisket burger was SOOOOOO good! I am extremely sensitive to gluten (it will legit cause me to lose my hearing ) so I was thrilled to find that they have gluten free bread & sauce options as well as gluten free wings & many other GF options on the menu! Sis had the regular cheese burger which she said was delicious as well. And mom had a chicken salad that looked amazing too. We all agreed that this will now be our regular burger spot. My husband and I came here very hungry. We both ordered chicken and shrimp ($18.99) and were both still very hungry after eating all our food! The portions were tiny for the price! On top of this the service was awful. Nobody checked on us not once to ask how our food was or if we needed anything. I could understand if they were very busy but all the servers were just standing around talking to each other. The owner explained that the East side of the building is called, "Yard Dawg" and it's a beir garden! It offers a large selection of craft beers and it has a menu of its own -- loaded dawgs is the featured menu item. The West side is called "Backyard Murphy" and that's where they have live music and a different menu, namely loaded nachos, brisket burgers, buffalo chicken sandwiches, etc. and homemade desserts. Both have indoor and outdoor seating. No smoking areas. Sports was on every single tv. Great place to watch a game. Both had traditional bar seating. They take reservations! It was extremely annoying that so many people allowed their kids to run, chase, and scream between tables. It really takes away from the relaxing, live music, sipping on a drink adult experience. We ordered two Brisket Burgers, a Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and brownie dessert. It was all made to order, fresh, generous portions and very reasonable prices. By 7pm the live music started. This is an awesome location and a new restaurant for us -- we enjoyed it enough to go back, BUT it will depend on what type of customer takes over. Had great service from the servers but They are not cleaning their beer mugs good at all. I never send anything back but after the second dirty beer glass in a row with visible tahine stuck to the sides and bottom as well as something black stuck Inside. Tremendous amount of bubbles from the bottom of the glass, and the manager had the audacity to bring my beer back outside and tell me there's nothing wrong with it. I have been to thousands of restaurants, by far the dirtiest glasses I have ever seen. Somebody just needs to take responsibility and wash the glasses better, and not argue with somebody when theirs CLEARLY stuff all in the bottom of the mug. do a wuic google search about those bubbles will tell you everything you need to know. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to try this place! The vibe, food, price and quality were all up to my standard!! My boyfriend and I came by for dinner after a stressful day, and despite being a busy Saturday night-- we found seats in the patio right away. There were extra seatings at the bar and inside, but we wanted to enjoy the live music so we sat outside. Service was SO fast!!! I was surprised because the entire restaurant was popping, but we got water right away and the server came to take our orders. I asked the bar to recommend a sour drink, and they recommended the whiskey sour. It was perfect! I got the taco plate with brisket and pulled pork, and my boyfriend got the grilled chicken (Texas Backyard Bird). The food came out in less than 10 mins and it was plentiful! Everything looks and tastes amazing! When the bill came, I was surprised to see my drink costing only $5!! Okay I realllllly wanted to love it here but I have to share my true experience. The outdoor patio is open seating and has a play area for young kids. There were dogs, kiddos, and perfect views of the sunset which made it a win. The burger however, was not. I ordered a plain bacon cheeseburger and it came out a bit dry/unseasoned. The sweet potato fries though were perfection. We also ordered the fried jalapeño peppers and weren't in love with the texture. It started with a drink. Well, calling it a drink is generous. It started with ordering a drink. An Old Fashioned. What I got was a glass of water with about a bottle cap of whiskey and some orange peel on top. I'm not sure you even needed a liquor license to serve this one. Next came the appetizer. Brisket Deviled Eggs. Nothing special. Not much flavor. No texture. Just an egg with a little brisket and barbecue sauce on top. But I am glad we had them, because next came a lengthy wait for the entrees. We ordered 2 things, so we could mix and match to try different options. Here's how they landed... 1. Brisket Sandwich: The best part was the sliced pickles in the sandwich. The worst part was the brisket sandwich. 2. Tacos: We had 1 of each kind - chicken, pork and brisket. Not that you could tell them apart by taste. All three tasted a little like tortilla with a little heat after swallowing. Again, no texture at all, but that was less concerning than the extraordinary lack of flavor. They didn't taste like anything. I'm not sure how they managed that because they appeared to have a lot of components. Also- Super messy and greasy. We killed a sapling's worth of napkins, while only killing off about 2 bites of each taco. 3. Fries: kinda meh. I've had worse? 4. Sweet potato fries: These were actually really good. Light, crispy, and flavorful. In for a penny, in for a pound. We finished it off with banana pudding, which came in a jar. The pudding was also in the "fine" category. Just okay. Started coming during covid because of the "backyard" and have been hooked ever since. It says "barbecue", but don't be decieved into thinking it's greasy American barbecue. I like to call it "clean and classy barbecue" with pulled meats and roasted veggies for sides. The basic grilled chicken salad is stellar! Drinks are perfectly made. I'm also a burger snob and this is one of the only places I will eat my burger. So good! Atmosphere is icing on the cake. We could bring our little ones on a Friday night and have adult conversation while they met other kids and and payed with the giant games in the backyard. Live music is always fantastic. To get a seat on a weekend evening, you must be there by 4:45 pm or prepare for a wait. We even had my husband's 50th birthday here and hired in our own live music and they made a special menu just for our crowd. Best local place around! read more

Love the outdoor area that's designed for large groups and an area to entertain the kids while the adults enjoy their time. From that aspect, it's great!! However, 1 - the inside smells like rotten eggs. We frequent this place at least once a month. It has sewage issues for sure, and while it might not be something easily fixed or controllable, this is a restaurant. Patrons shouldn't have to smell that for long. Second, and the main reason for my 3 stars - food quality. It's SO limited. They have nachos and tacos but no guacamole. The lemon pepper wings just taste like fried wings with no distinct flavor. And $9 for 5 wings with no sides seems a bit steep. No honey mustard for the very bland grilled chicken sandwich. There's a lack of basic condiments/extras that would be nice options. They do have great appetizers, but if you're going here looking for a nice meal, know that it is mostly mediocre bar food. My suggestion would be to enjoy some cocktails, share a bunch of apps, and let the kids play. Don't bother ordering a main dish, especially the steak. Save that type of meal for another place. read more

9/14/22: This was our first visit. Came for a couple of drinks. We sat at the bar and Elise was bartending. We had a beer, the Titos lemonade and a cheeseburger. We had to get an extra shot ot Titos to make the lemonade better. When the cheeseburger arrived, the sweet potato fries were cold. I asked Elise if she could bring some hot fries, and she happily did. There were plenty of TV's throughout, and interesting decor.
