I run two sets of wheels for my vehicle. A winter set with snow tires & a rest of the year set…read more Normally I do this myself with my own tools and it's a 20 minute job. This year I didn't feel like it, so I paid Protech to change my wheels. Yesterday I got a flat tire and noticed the lugs were exceptionally difficult to break with a breaker bar. Fortunately I was able to get the wheel off and make it home with the donut until I could swap out the winter tires for the other ones...This is where it gets interesting... Trying to remove the lugs with my Thunder Gun they didn't budge! Normally they spin off like butter. I had to use the breaker bar and ended up snapping an adapter in the process on one wheel. Tried the Thunder Gun again, it wouldn't budge, then tried the breaker bar again and sheered the lug nut in half! 70 f'n foot lbs! That's it! These had to be 250-300+ ft lbs! What grease-monkey put my wheels on?! Over torquing wheel lugs should be an offense punishable with jail time! The story doesn't end here. I called Protech and explained the situation, they say they don't have the tools to remove the broken lug & will probably end up severely damaging my wheel. I told him I just wanted you to know the knucklehead in the garage is over torquing wheel lugs and to knock it off! 5000 ft/lbs is ridiculous! Went to another shop to get a quote to remove the broken lug...$200 bucks! No thanks! I'll do it myself!

What is happening to Midas Muffler in Sewickley PA? I have been going there since the 1970's for…read moreoil changes. I am presently very dissatisfied with their service. I had an appointment on Thursday, June 4 at 11 a.m. I have taken my current vehicle to them since 2021 and have always used high mileage synthetic oil in this vehicle. I had previous service receipts with me but the manager of the shift at the desk said they were not required as I was "in the system". I asked if my tires would be rotated as per standard procedure and was told "yes". I began my wait. I observed the technician place the car up on the lift and saw him change the oil. The car was placed back on the ground. I then asked the manager about the tire rotation and the topping off all the fluids. He stated that "they forgot" and would do it immediately so my vehicle was again lifted and the tires were rotated. I believe that if I was not present, my tires would not have been rotated. I did NOT see them top off the fluids. When they were finished with the servicing, I proceeded to pay. Previous charges for this service were in the range of $70-80. This time it only $42. I immediately knew something was amiss. I then inquired as to why the charges were as low as they were. The manager stated that that was the price for a standard oil change and that was what I needed. He claimed Subaru's did not need synthetic oil even though my vehicle is high mileage. My question is if that this is true, why were my previous oil changes of the synthetic variety? I stated that my previous oil changes were synthetic and then and only then did he examine my previous record. So which is it, synthetic or not? He used standard oil in my vehicle without consulting my records beforehand and I am now concerned that this lower grade oil may give me car issues. I have my vehicle serviced with the intent of alleviating any concerns I may have with its operation. I also understand that the customer is "always right" and that either myself or my records should have been consulted before servicing had taken place. I was then told if I wanted to wait, they would bring my vehicle back in and change the oil again. I declined until I can find out which way to go. I would like to know if this is how Midas is now doing business?

We had 2 children with us and we were on our way to the airport. Missed the flight, but Tom Coop is a life saver. He brought along a second vehicle so we could have a ride to the repair shop. He and his crew were kind personable and the nicest people. We are from Texas and felt alone and desperate. His tow truck was even nice. He us a professional and one of the best tow experiences I've ever had. He quoted us a fair price and went above and beyond. My family is grateful for such an honest and easy experience. Thank you Mr. Coop for coming to our rescue. We can't thank you enough.

He also was willing to call us when he started our direction so our niece could come take us somewhere to get out of the sun and we could meet him back there. He was so kind, caring, and understanding, so was his associate that was with him. He was able to jump it and start it right up after we had failed to get a successful jump ourselves and towed it to our mechanic of choice. Coop was so personable and extremely compassionate and never made us fill rushed even when I got upset, crying and sharing about our rough year. His pricing was extremely reasonable as well and we will remain loyal due to our experience with him and use him ever time now.
