I stopped in on a Saturday morning for a basic mani/pedi. Was greeted promptly and asked to sit. Everything was great until my service was done, nail dry and I was ready to pay. Nail tech said she was charging an additional $10 for my R foot because she had to use the cheese grater to remove dead skin on the heel part. Not recommending or returning due to this and the color starting to peel off the very next day. Don't see how a basic service cost a surprising $80.00. Bolsa Salon is where my good friend gets her nails done. I missed my appt with my tech, Julie, at VIP Nails and I decided to go closer to home. She's on vacation as well as my backup tech, Lilly. Michelle did a decent enough job to hold me over until my next appt. The reason I rated this so low is because when I asked the price, Michelle said it was $50. All I received was a dip color, no designs, nothing extra. When I checked out she charged me $62. The $2 was a credit card charge. When I was at her table I saw her write $60 on her receipt book but I didn't realize she was adding $10 extra to my service so I ignored it. She wrote it and slipped it in her draw quickly. When she realized I didn't have cash she told me to bring cash the next time. Then she asked if I had Venmo. I said no. We walk to the register and the total was now $62. I was upset because she assumes I'm so tired I wouldn't remember the price. I should have called her out but I'm never returning. I don't like businesses that cheat their customers. I don't mind paying for services rendered. I always tip and because she was dishonest I only tipped $5 since clearly she desperately needed extra money. I called my friend and she told me she pays $50 for her dip powder. So now that I've confirmed that she robbed me, I'm writing this review. I heard customers speaking during the appointment and they said the owner is in Vietnam or I would have walked back in and complained to her. Leaving Bolsa after my first manicure there I was very impressed and even made a pedicure appointment later that week. They took their time (I was there for over 90 minutes for a powder manicure) but they were very thorough. My hands were soft and my cuticles were FLAWLESS. However, their powder manicure was $50 ($15 more than my usual salon) and they charge to take off previous powder which in my mind is ridiculous. The reason behind the 2 stars. My powder manicure, which usually lasts 4-5 weeks before chipping, chipped within in 5 DAYS. And multiple nails chipped within a week. I have never experienced powder to chip this early especially not on so many nails! Not worth $50 for sure and I will be returning to my old salon. read more

The pros: The people were very nice and they gave me nice pedicure (I was even interested in their other pedicure services.), my regular pedi lasted my whole trip and after. The cons: My gel nails didn't last the 6 days that I was away, they started to peel on day 4 and I wasn't even doing anything aggressive (I was on vacation). I got a light blue gel nail color (which by the way they had to apply 3-4 coats so that it could look solid and not transparent). I still recommend them but maybe not for gel. Really disappointed with this salon. I went in on a Saturday afternoon for a pedicure. When I got there there were 6 technicians sitting around and no other customers. The pedicure bath was basically ice cold and when I asked if she could add some hot water she pretended not to understand. After the first half she then again used cold water to rinse my legs off with. The only redemption was that they did put a steaming hot towel over my legs for a few seconds at one point. My biggest issue was that they didn't use a plastic bag in the little tub that you soak your feet in. That seems very unsanitary and I've never seen a salon that doesn't use the bags. I was nervous to get gel dip because I haven't ever had a place do it right where it stays the on my nails right. I was so excited to get my nails done with my mom( i got acrylics while my mom got a gel pedicure) however, leaving Bolsa Nails, I was very disappointed. The place itself was clean and organized, well maintained. The problem was with our nails. I had chosen a design that I showed to lady the who did my nails(the owner) and as soon as I sat down she went to work, I noticed that she was doing everything very quickly. Within a matter of minutes, she had already filed and was putting on the nail tips. When it came to cutting the desired length, I told her that they were uneven and crooked, she said that she would file them and that they would soon be even. - her tone was a bit sarcastic and she seemed annoyed at the fact I asked her to fix them. when it was time to put on the polish I noticed that the tips she had put on were notably, significantly uneven and slanted, I told her a few times, very politely that I wasn't satisfied with the shape and how they looked but I was ignored. ....anyway, I ended up changing my design to something more simple ( same design, just fewer flowers) and would only have flowers on one fingernail, rather than on all, and there was only a 5-dollar decrease! I was shocked and when was going to say something she said it was because she was doing gel on my nails. Usually, nail spas charge 5 dollars per nail for a design and so, that should have reduced my total by a lot! In the end, my nails turned out so so thick to the point where they feel heavy and uneven. My mom had chosen a gel pedicure and was shocked that the nail tech who was doing her didn't know what he was doing. she asked to have her nails shaped, and he didn't understand what she meant so another tech had to swoop in and told my mom " its cause the angle you are looking at your toes, is uneven" that's why she couldn't see a good shape. I MEAN COME ON! what happened to good service and listening to a customer who is paying a lot of money and tipping you? The moral of this review is that I will not be coming back to such poor service. I was highly disappointed given such good reviews and hope. read more

They completely renovated this location in the Lac de Ville plaza near Tops in Rochester NY. Easy parking. Call to make an appt with the tech you prefer or they take walk-ins. I always get gel mani but they also do acrylic and regular polish also. Brand new pedi chairs and a fresh clean open feeling in this nail spa. Katie and several of the younger girls speak a perfect english so if you can always feel you can get your questions answered. But the other Vietnamese ladies are all really nice and make up for in quality manicure and pedicure what they cannot offer in perfect english. It really pains me to leave a bad review as I've been going to bolsa for over 3 years, but I've now had 3 bad experiences in a row, including being cut twice. I used to get dip powder manicures pretty consistently and always make an appt since they do not have many staff members there that can do dip. After waiting 45min past my appt time, they finally very clearly gave me to a guy who had never done dip before and they were basically trying to tell him how to do it while running around with other customers. The end result was lumpy monster fingers and my nails started breaking off in chunks within 2 days. Before going on vacation I decided to get a pedicure and while trimming my cuticles the staff member cut deep into my skin. He apologized and told me the black mark on my toe was because of the powder he put on it to stop the bleeding (it was bleeding a lot so he dumped the powder on it 3 or 4 times) and would wash away in the shower. Turns out that black mark was not residual powder, it was open skin. Needless to say not only did my foot not look very pretty in sandals on vacation, I was also too afraid to wear sandals/use the pool because I was worried about an infection. After my dip powder trauma I decided to try them again for a gel manicure. Not only did I get cut again, really bad under my nail, but I was told there was nothing he could do to fix it- I literally have a piece of my thumb skin hanging out over my way too short cut nail AND two other nails have some bumps in them, AND two others you can still see my former color on the edges because apparently they didn't do a good job removing it. Sadly I think I have to give up on bolsa and try a new spot. read more

I was so excited to get my nails done with my partner and We decided on this location. We both got pedicures but were so displeased by the lack of cleanliness. The lady doing my feet used old equipment on my feet (usually, sterilized equipment is opened in front of you to show that it is new and unused). And to make matters worse, while my feet were still in the water the lady cleaned her hands in my water (and flung the water all over me afterwards) and "cleaned" the tools/equipment she had just used on my feet in the water and proceeded to place them back in the drawer. It was disgusting. Both our feet were itching afterwards just at the thought of the lack of cleanliness we had endured. They must do better. Oh, I also can't forget that allllllllll the polish options (not gel) were clearly OLD. The polishes were alll separating. The business is new, spotlessly clean, reasonably priced and friendly. They have a wonderful selection of stylish colors - both gel and regular.
