The tech struggled to match a simple beige, first suggesting white, then purple? I eventually searched myself, after receiving no clear direction to the gel colors on the wall. One tech commented I took a long time - wasn't even 5 minutes. Most importantly - the salon was visibly dirty. Nail dust everywhere, tools looked used and unsanitized, and the sink hadn't been cleaned in a while. One tech even picked something off a cuticle cutter before using it on me. The service felt rushed, with no massage, scrub, nothing. I left feeling uneasy and immediately cleaned my hands and nails at home to avoid infection or fungus. First and last visit. Got a gel manicure and pedicure for $60 in one hour! Luckily I arrived right before the rush and was able to get my nails done without an appointment. The employees are friendly as well as the crowd it attracts. I met a few frequent flyers when I was around and they knew the names of all employees. I had come here for a couple of run-of-the-mill gel polish manicures and they were fine enough. The story is with different if you want acrylics. They refused to give me a gel full set, even though they have it listed as a service and they confirmed they could do it when I made my appointment. I clarified this was for gel acrylic not just polish or dip powder. I figured I'd rather they do what they are comfortable with and agreed to acrylic set. Then they argued that I shouldn't get coffin shape, so I asked if they thought that they'd be boxy at a mid length? Why shouldn't I do it? They told me it was too young a style for me (I'm 35 and most people don't believe I'm not 25. I have a baby face, lol.) Then they muttered it would cost extra. The tone was off, but maybe they were just being transparent and not insinuating I couldn't afford the upcharge... Okay, now for the real nightmare tale. The older man started with toenail clippers on my fingernails. He groaned at my cuticles, which did need some love, and then ground them off with a drill bit - the ONLY bit they used from beginning to end, mind you. No soak, no pushing them back or clipping them. No care to the hangnail I had. Just ground into my nail bed until I bled on two fingers. Then, he didn't fully wipe my nails, leaving them dusty and uneven before he started gluing long curved tips to my nails, several that would up being too narrow for my nails. He was tugging on a couple, trying to reposition them after they were stuck in place and I could tell he considered removing them but I think instead decided he could shape them straight. He started slopping on drippy, over saturated acrylic onto my nails which worried me, but I didn't know how to communicate that since there was a clear language barrier (which can be uncomfortable and confusing but in and of itself is fine with me normally). I did raise a concern when I saw an obvious hair on the wet acrylic and pointed it out. He scolded me and told me he'd fix it and pulled my other hand back down. He started muttering to the woman who I think owns the shop and then she came over to finish my second hand, which I hoped would be an improvement. It was not. I wound up with lumpy, crooked, painful globs on my fingers. Seeing them in good lighting, they were even worse. The next day, in actual throbbing pain, I called TT Nails, who are hard to get same day appointments with. Ty pitied me and took me in so I didn't have to go to an important interview looking a mess. Check out my review that I left last week for them. I was too mad to submit this one until now but I was glowing after he saved me. I got my nails done yesterday 12/29/22. The pictures are from yesterday. This does not look like a fresh set of nails. Furthermore, the person doing my nails (Annie, the owner/manager) was rude. As a paying costumer, I expect good costumer service. I have never been treated so poorly at a business. When I asked for my nails to be shaped a certain way she was fed up and gave me the file to do myself. I was informed that she has been doing nails for 18 years as a means to justify that she knows what she's doing when I asked for the specific shape. She criticized the previous work done by a nail tech back home (I recently moved here) which I really liked. Quite honestly, her work was giving amateur at best. I go to the nail salon as a form of self care and left feeling extremely frustrated by the lack of professionalism. When it comes to acrylic nails/gel fills, at the very least I would not go to Annie. I can't speak for the rest of the staff. The person who did my pedicure was kind and took her time. Overall, I felt like I wasted my time and money. I considered going back prior to writing this review but the lack of professionalism made me reconsider.
