Yummy yummy in my tummy! Bolt drinks and coffee has become a top coffee spot for me already! The Avalanche latte and Carmel Craze latte are delicious. I wasn't sure about the Avalanche, because the ingredients used are a unique combination, but it did not disappoint at all! Down to the last sip, I wanted more and wished I ordered a larger cup. You can't taste the milk at all, which is typically a gripe I have with lattes, but not here which I appreciate a great deal. I was able to chat it up with the staff before my order was complete, and they were both so friendly and put a smile in my face. Definitely down to Earth and gave you that small town family treatment, thank you! Today, the interior was jazzed up with St. Patrick's day decorations which was adorable. Green from wall to wall in a cozy coffee shop way. The donuts looked spectacular! I didn't pick one up, because I am trying to lose some weight, but I sure did think about buying a couple over 5x during my wait for my order, which only took a couple minutes to make. Not allergy friendly - came in for an energy drink, didn't realise a pistachio allergy would result in a wasted trip and leaving empty handed. In our experience, at most places that have anything with these allergens, they can guarantee that we can at least get a drink (if not food) without cross contamination. Even smoothie places have been able to do so. BOLT shares a counter with Fat Cat Ice Cream, who makes the ice cream in house. The fact that they have a posted notice writing off all liability for cross contamination without giving customers an opportunity for discussion was a first experience for us, and is quite disheartening as someone who would've loved to support local. It also makes me question the processes in the kitchen - if we are so able to find many food/drink places who guarantee no cross contamination while having several of those allergens on their menu, it is curious to me that a place that shares a kitchen with a separate business couldn't seem to do so. To set the context, I love fun drinks, and have recently moved from South Florida where Cali Coffee and Aroma Joes have the market on energy drinks with a cool, energetic vibe. I've also been to 7Brew and Dutch Bros a bunch. Overall, all are really fun places with energetic staff who contribute to the friendly vibe. Now to BOLT: I really wanted to like this place because we recently moved nearby, and I've given it a try 3 times. Each time, the drinks have been okay, but the vibe and the staff have been really lacking. Maybe I shouldn't compare BOLT to AJs, Cali, 7Brew, and Dutch Bros, but every time I've come in to BOLT, the place is quiet as a tomb, and the staff says the bare minimum. It's just a really weird experience, like getting an energy drink from a sad library. read more

My daughter absolutely loves this place and that's one of the main reasons I go. She loves making her own energy drinks and customizing them. I really kind of feel bad for it. I never see any customers here anytime I go, there is never a wait. Most people seem to be going to Fat Cat's Ice Cream which shares the space with them. Both businesses have their charms. I really like the fresh brewed coffee here, it's cheaper and better than anything you'd get at StarBucks or Caribou, $4 for a large. I've had them fill my own cup before and then walk around all the shops in Varina Station. Definitely give them a chance especially on hot summer days, those cold icy energy drinks are like slush puppies with a boost! read more

If you need a good pick me up, their espresso is my go to now. It is delicious on its own, not burnt and I find it naturally creamy and sweet. Love it! read more

I got the Caramel craze breve and had to go back for more the next day it was SO GOOD. Day two I got a white mocha add toffee breve and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Definitely the best coffee I've had in the triangle area in the decade that I've lived here. And the girl that took my order and made my drink both times was the nicest ever, she even remembered me from the day prior and that I wanted my drink breve. Let's just say I'm NO LONGER a Starbucks girly. read more

What a nice looking space. The feng shui is full of flow. Everything looks (and probably is) brand new. Easy to see from the street. Lots of room, very accommodating, and it really looks like they put effort into the place. The internet speed is fast. There's just enough red on the walls to inspire a certain type of spiritual jolt. The coffee does the rest. This is my 5th espresso of the day, so I'm not going in about how good or "bad" the coffee might be. I'm just too high right now to notice, but I'm sure it's awesome. It's an interesting concept but is not for me. There are several ways to get your caffeine boost from here. You can order a signature drink with a sugar free monster and flavors, a lotus plant energy drink and flavors or a coffee drink. We tried a latte and the hawaiian breeze plant based energy drink. Before today, Bolt was my favorite local coffee shop. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can say that any longer. I ordered my usual, a hot latte with almond milk and sugar free white mocha flavor. I typically wait at least 5 minutes for it to cool off before trying it. However, when I did, it was disappointing at best. All I can taste is water, and the water that I taste is ice cold. I don't understand how a hot latte can be cold after 5 minutes. read more

I absolutely love the atmosphere of this place. Most days I go there to do my homework and grab my caffeine for the day. All of the workers are so nice and welcoming. It is a very clean place with lots of options. It has different drinks for everyone including plant based energy drinks, caffeinated energy drinks, non caffeinated drinks, lattes(hot and cold) and coffee(holt and cold.) My favorites are off of the signature menu they are the Triple Threat and the Aquamarine. I also love their merchandise options!
