Stopped by Cultivate Coffee Roasters on a realtor tour of some houses in the Fuquay-Varina area and needed some coffee. When you arrive parking can be found either on the street or in a nearby parking lot. There was a pretty long line wrapping around the coffee shop so we hopped in line. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we were at the coffee shop there doesn't seem to be enough seating for how much traffic is going through the shop as the inside and outside seating were pretty full.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately the atmosphere was a bit overshadowed by being overcrowded and several kids running around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere inside the coffee shop feels like a modern vibe but nestled within a small town.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered a strawberry glazed donut and a vanilla latte. I wasn't the biggest fan of the donut as it didn't taste the freshest and the espresso shots weren't pulled correctly as the latte tasted a bit watery/thin. This coffee shop is crowded as it's really the only option in Fuqua-Varina but may try it again if I'm in the area again. read more

Finally had a chance to check out this local gem & it did not disappoint! Barista's choice for latte which was a Sea Salt Caramel Raspberry Iced which was delicious & a Strawberry Lemonade which my mom very much enjoyed as well. All of their syrups are made in house which is wonderful and a great selection of pastries as well (picked up a bacon cheddar chive scone which was flaky and flavorful)! read more

Coffee was great but at almost closing time, there's not much available pastries or food offerings. Server was nice though. Hope the tables outside get bussed/wiped every after customer as outdoor seating attracts insects. Can spot coffee drips in multiple tables. Also, it could be a nice work spot but there's something off about the inside, can't really tell what. Maybe time to update or rearrange the pieces of furniture, or add more for those who seat alone, or maybe more refined "food" prep area (however you call that). read more

Holy smokes. The number of coffee shops on one square block of Fuquay? Astounding. Anyway, today, we decided to try Cultivate. This was a no-joke, old school coffee house. It has plenty of outlets that were occupied by customers on laptops, with additional seating on the side. I got a hot latte and my wife got a mocha latte. So my latte wouldn't feel lonely, I got it a Snickerdoodle cookie. The coffee and Latte were excellent. Good crunch to the cookie and a nice smoothness to the latte. Cultivate Coffee is the BEST coffee shop in the Fuquay-Varina area. In fact, their espresso/americano blows away any shop within 60 miles of FV, especially the single-origin Ethiopian; it is rich and complex and some days it kicks a bit of blueberry. I buy only Cultivate coffee (and tea) for my home espresso (and tea) bar. I recently opened a bag of the Costa Rica, and it is definitely a top-notch bean. I've been a regular at Cultivate for years and can't believe I've never reviewed it. The non-negotiable best coffee shop in Fuquay and the surrounding areas! The coffee is always delicious, their house made syrups are top notch and they seem to always be adding new bakery options, like the recent addition of bagels. I especially love being able to get Bakers Dozen donuts here. So today we went around to 6 area espresso bars tasting different espresso for the express purpose of testing technique and flavor. Of all the boutiques we visited, Cultivate was the best in terms of flavor, technique, presentation and ambience. We also purchased two bags of different whole beans for making coffee at home. One we liked and one we didn't. "Better Together" has an Earthy flavor that's rests between mushroom and fruit. The bag says milk chocolate but we didn't get ANY chocolate notes what so ever. This bag sadly, went straight into the trash. "Guatemala" has balanced flavor that isn't leaning though the bag says dark chocolate. If it has notes of dark chocolate, it's very subtle. Still, we liked it. This one of my favorite coffee places! The lattes have a great flavor and are really well-balanced. The syrups are made in-house, even the honey -cinnamon, so you don't just get a bunch of honey at the bottom of the cup like other places! Definitely do NOT pass up the baked goods. All of the ones I have tried are sooo good. Stopped in to check out Cultivate for the first time. If I could give this 3.5 stars I would so I will be generous and round up. The apple fritter was really good with just the right amount of diced apple and was perfection. The sea salt caramel latte was amazing and with the syrup being made in house, it doesn't have that artificial taste which is so nice. The honey cinnamon latte took a while to find the syrup flavor. It was either just a straight milk taste or a milk/espresso taste. I had to swirl the drink for a really long time to get it mixed. Even then I felt the flavor was really lacking. I would try it again but would probably ask for it to be a little sweeter. We will definitely be back and will try other flavors and maybe have them create something unique. read more

Love to visit Cultivate when I'm in the area. It's a little off the beaten path in downtown Fuquay Varina but that makes it even more special when you visit. They have an outdoor patio and plenty of indoor seating space which is great to hang out and work for the morning. The menu has all your expected coffees and the pasty case has sweets and baked goods, including a few gluten friendly options. They also have an ice cream case (my favorite part!) with locally made ice cream. To make it even better, you can also pick 2 scoops to make an affogado. If I'm going for straight coffee, I really like an iced oat milk latte with their house-made honey lavender syrup. On the weekends they sometimes have live music and pop up markets. I've visited this cafe on a couple occasions. The first visit, I got this sea salt caramel latte and a earl grey lavender (in picture). The second occasion (no picture) I got an affogato with cookies and cream ice cream as my ice cream. The service was great! Quick and respectful. I sat down on one of my visits and I noticed they were active in keeping the location clean. My second visit, it was an afternoon. There were more people but the place was still clean and everyone was doing their own thing without it being excessively loud. I even gave them another chance the other day, but they couldn't even keep a customer line in order. The line usually goes along the bar towards the back mural. Well, this time people were just standing around and no one knew what to do. Some people said they were waiting in line but others had already ordered. I just left and went to The Mill for my coffee instead. I wonder how many are doing the same lately. There seems to be no leadership- or weak at best. The shots have been bitter or sour, so the coffee experience itself isn't even the same. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Where did the mural go? From the music to the Bible study meetups to the kind and warm welcomes from staff, it's just a terrific place to grab coffee and be uplifted. I LOVE THIS PLACE! This place is right up my coffee obsessed alley! I visited cultivate coffee at the peak time for coffee and found it hopping. It's definitely popular with the folks in the area. People of all ages were there, from the young at heart seniors like myself to youthful tykes accompanying parents. My hot vanilla latte was good but my guest's ice caramel soy latte was not that good to either of us. In fact she couldn't finish it. I'm not a cold coffee drinker but what I tasted of her cup wasn't what I'd buy again. The ambiance was ok but it didn't have a coffee shop feel for me; it appeared the building was once a body shop garage so the noise reverberated in the building to a deafening din that was distracting at times during my stay. It definitely has a rustic feel to it. If you're looking for a good cup of real hot coffee this place is as good as any but if you want to savor your cup there are better places where you can do that. read more
