Came here br knowing what to expect as the reviews are so mixed, but we ordered the balls and rolls for the table- both are delish, but the rolls are definitely the shining plate here! We all tried the teriyaki plate (chicken and beef), kookoo fries, and the wrap (half chicken half beef). The portions are HUGE on everything. Even the balls are like the size of a woman's fist lol! The food all had great flavor and they had a huge array of sauce options. We all took food home left over because of the portion sizes. Holy sh*t this is some amazing hole in the wall find!!!! It's joint isn't just another Japanese teriyaki fast food joint, it's so much more! My husband described it best, a Japanese Mexican fusion with incredible flavors! We shared the Kookoo wrap half and half, the friend rice ball and the chicken veggie bowl. First off, my husband hates anything teriyaki chicken but he ate more of the chicken veggie bowl than I did! The flavors were subtle but clean and delicious!!! My beau and I tried this place for the first time last night and we LOVED it. We will most definitely be back. Another reviewer said her beef teriyaki bowl didn't have any teriyaki sauce on the meat, only the rice. This apparently isn't the case anymore. My partner and I have been here twice and I got myself the same thing both times, a chicken wrap with a side of Bom Bom balls to share. Delicious. This placed is classified as "fusion" and I'm not completely sure what the fusion is, I definitely get Mexican food vibes and flavors (like the tacos and burritos, and the combination of ingredients like pico de Gallo, cilantro, and avocado) from this place as well as foods and flavors which are Asian (like the udon, gyoza, California rolls, and some of the sauces) but I can't pinpoint exactly where in Asian the flavors are influenced by. Either way, it's delicious. The wrap is hot, flavorful, and filling. I tend to only eat half of the wrap and then save the other half for later because it's big and I personally can't eat the whole thing in a single sitting. I love dipping it into the Bom Bom sauce, which might just be one of my absolute favorite sauces to put on this kind of food even though I can't really figure out what it is. It tastes kind of teriyaki-like, a little bit salty like soy sauce, and at the same time its kind of spicy. Its a bit of a mystery combination but I really recommend using it. The Bom Bom balls are good as a side too, my partner loves them more than I do though. I feel like with those it depends on how much you like rice. The outer shell is essentially just a ball made of crispy rice and then on the inside you have a meat filling. They're tasty but if you don't care for rice then you might not enjoy them as much since they're pretty rice-forward (which is what makes them perfect for my partner, since he's a bit of a rice fiend). Definitely be careful if you're giving the Bom Bom balls to kids though. I like to crack them in half and let them sit for a bit to cool down before biting into them because even if they just feel warm on the outside, when you crack through the balls and open them, it tends to be extremely hot on the inside and releases a lot of steam. read more

It has the personality of a hawaiian bbq place where all the dishes have the same main ingredient; meats flavored with teriyaki sauce or fried shrimp/fish. You can either get the plates which comes with two choices of sides or you can order the meats with vegetable with the sides. they also have tacos, burritos all made with the same ingredients as the plates basically. i had the chicken salad which was actually bigger than i expected. the boys ordered 4 chicken tacos, chicken and shrimp plate and 3 pc kookoo balls. I honestly think the balls were ordered out of immaturity, not by the curiosity of the idea. the balls are made of rice stuffed with meat drenched in their kookoo sauce (which is slightly spicy). our order came out to almost $30. so about $10 per person. I am KooKoo for the KooKoo Grill. Every other week when I go to my mom and grandparents house, I stop and pick up dinner on the way. I have noticed as of late that we were falling into a bit of a routine with the choices and was looking for something new and exciting to try. After searching for restaurants in the nearby area, I stumbled across this little teriyaki place in Bellflower and the rest was history. Having lived in the surrounding areas for most of my life, I was familiar with the location but was a bit skeptical as to how the meal would ultimately turn out. I have seen places come and go in this spot over the years and thus I felt this would be just another ordinary teriyaki place. I went in with lowered expectations but definitely left as a fan. The service here is very friendly and the food taste fresh and of much better quality than other teriyaki places I have tried in the past. The menu features all of your standard options such as chicken, beef, shrimp, fried fish and other options available in both a bowl or larger plate variation. Outside of your standard options they also have teriyaki tacos, burritos, KooKoo rolls (spicy egg roll), KooKoo Ball (deep fried rice ball stuffed with teriyaki chicken and cheese and a spicy KooKoo sauce) as well as California Rolls and some additional sides. The chicken and beef were both REALLY good and the portions were HUGE. The meat itself seemed to be lightly sauced but they supplied the teriyaki, Sriracha and other sauces on the side to sauce at your discretion. Both the bowls and plates are stacked on top of white rice and the plate also comes with a small salad of iceberg lettuce and tomato on the side served with thousand island dressing. For my first experience (not knowing how large the portions were) I went with a chicken and beef combination plate, a medium chicken bowl and a 3 piece order of the KooKoo Balls (limited availability per the menu). What I didn't realize until I got the food home was that this was easily enough food for 5 or more people and there would be just two of us eating. We divided up the different entrees and delved in. The chicken and beef were cooked perfectly and the KooKoo balls were out of this world delicious. The rice balls due to being deep fried have a crispy outer layer but once you cut through and got to the inside it was hot, cheesy and delicious with just a touch of spice (extra sauce again on the side for those inclined to bring the heat). After two of us eating we were still left with a mountain of food that I took back home and will easily feed me another meal or two. The pricing here is also another strong point in my opinion. The chicken/beef combination plate was 7.99 but for the amount of food was well worth the price. A medium chicken bowl runs you about 5.29 (cheaper than even Flame Broiler) and is also a larger portion. All of the food is low fat with no MSG and is cooked fresh to order. For those who do not want teriyaki cuisine, they also offer numerous burgers, salads and burritos (non teriyaki) as well as small items such as popcorn shrimp or chicken and onion rings or fries. Despite not being a overly large place, plenty of seating is offered both inside as well as outside so finding a place to eat shouldn't be an issue. KooKoo Grill & Teriyaki also has a full service drive thru for those who prefer that method as well. Since opening the place has received a ton of positive reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype to me and my mom seemed to really enjoy it as well. If you look up the word LEGIT in the dictionary it just may have a picture of the KooKoo Grill next to it. It's not a matter of if I come back, it's a question of when. I love love love this place! It was my first time to come here today, and it didnt disappoint me. I notice they have a drive-thru which is very convenient for those in a hurry. Me and the guy friend came here during lunch hour. It gets pretty packed but we happen to get a table right away. We tried their infamous koo koo balls and fries. The balls were made up of sticky rice, kind of like the texture of a sesame ball but instead of red bean inside.. the koo koo balls have something else.. meat + sauce = some tasty stuff lol You can't go wrong with the koo koo fries too. Cooked to perfection, huge serving. Crispy and saucy... and they put grilled chicken and cheese on top (see picture). Best fries ive ever tried. The only downside is the wait. I drive from LA to Riverside quite often, and I have recently started looking for new places to eat in between. I stumbled upon this place recently, and had to try one of their "kookoo balls". I ended up arriving in time to order some lunch. I ordered a kookoo ball and a chicken teriyaki bowl. My food came and I looked at the kookoo ball and found it really interesting. It reminded me of Porto's famous potato balls, but not really because of the ingredients, but because they were both famous "balls of food". The kookoo ball had a fried rice exterior that enveloped teriyaki chicken among other things like sriracha sauce. Overall, i enjoyed it, and could have eaten several more. I learn proceeded to try the teriyaki chicken, which was plated, or rather bowled nicely. They also provided extra teriyaki, and spicy teriyaki sauce along with it. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good too. Overall I really enjoyed this place, and it's interesting how they are an Asian fusion place, and they have koo koo fries which I really would like to try next time I stop by. Had the Chicken and Beef Teriyaki Plate. Loved it...the beef is not some shriveled up over chopped mess it is nice "steaky" tender slices of peppery goodness. The Chicken has a splendid char flavor and not some boiled over cooked over chopped drained in sauce concoction some places call chicken teriyaki. The chicken was cut in pleasant chunks. Ive had many Teriyaki bowls and plates and this was definitely one of the best ive had. Great flavor, excellent portion and rice was not dry, it was sticky and moist. The plate came with a salad that came with some sort of spicy thousand island and I even dipped my rice in that dressing and wished I had more for my rice. The cashier was friendly and helpful when I asked him what the deluxe beef burrito was, recalling every single ingredient in that burrito like a college student recalling definitions for a final. That teriyaki beef burrito was so bomb! It was like a spicy in n out burger with rice in a burrito form.. It was out of this world. I finished 3/4 of that burrito and finished the rest later that night. My friend ordered the deluxe chicken burrito and said that the onion rings added a crunch for texture and didn't agree with it tasting like an in n out burger in a burrito (possibly because beef is more reminiscent of a burger than chicken is). She still said it was tasty and good. My other friend ordered the teriyaki chicken tacos and a kookoo ball, she finished all 4 tacos and let me have a bite of the kookoo ball. That was delicious as well, like a fried sushi rice ball stuffed with teriyaki? Plus the service was great. It's a casual fast food place, but our orders were delivered to our table. A worker came by when me and my friends were finished eating to ask us if we needed anything. Us: "...no thank you" Him: "any to go containers?" Ohhhh yeah he was way ahead of us. Had this place bookmarked for a while because I was curious about Asian Mexican fusion. Sometimes fusion like this just turns out to be Asian meat served in an otherwise Mexican form like a burrito or taco without really melding the two very distinct flavors/styles. But this place got it down pretty well. I took my friend here because we needed to grab a bite before going to a party and we were worried about getting there right before closing and making the workers mad. But nope, they were not rude and impatient as workers often get right before closing. They even served someone who came 10 min after closing and allowed us to sit inside their restaurant (as opposed to forcing us to take it to go). I got just the order of koo koo balls since I had already eaten and my friend got a burrito. He didn't finish the burrito because it was so large. A good rice to meat/other filling ratio. We did finish the koo koo balls. They are rice balls filled with chicken, cheese and sauce, rolled in sesame seeds and deep fried. Delicious and unique. Filling although an order was only 3 balls. Holy deliciousness, Batman! This place serves up Asian-Mexican fusion food and has def got the goods to warrant a 4 star rating. My husband found KKG on Yelp earlier this year and it's become a family favorite. It's a small fast food restaurant tucked away next to Walgreens with around 8 small tables inside and a few tables outside. Standouts here are the fusion teriyaki beef tacos (thinly sliced beef in a teriyaki sauce with green onions, onions, cilantro, and thinly sliced cucumbers served on corn tortillas), Koo Koo Balls (deep fried rice balls stuffed with teriyaki chicken, cheese, and their koo koo sauce - order these and thank me later), koo koo fries (thick cut fries covered in a spicy thousand island sauce, hot sauce, sour cream, green onions, and cheese), koo koo wrap (teriyaki chicken with spicy thousand island sauce, sour cream, cheese, tomato, onion, and cheese wrapped in a grilled tortilla), koo koo eggrolls (same filling as the balls deep fried in eggroll wrappers), teriyaki beef panini (this is a non-menu item that I LOVE - teri beef, spicy thousand island, onions, tomato, cheese on a bolillo roll toasted in a panini press). This place is so good! It's a Mexican/Asian style kind of spot. Basically it's Asian meat and sauces in any type of Mexican food. I've had the chicken tacos both times I've come here and they are bombbb. A little teriyaki sauce and hot sauce and you're good. It also doesn't come with the typical trips to the bathroom like most taco joints. I had the Koo Koo Balls as well. They were good but I think they're a bit overhyped. Overall a good spot. I've seen this property transform for quite some time. First it was It's A Grind coffee house, then it turned into some burger joint, & now it's a Koo Koo Grill. I must say, Koo Koo Grill has really nailed it. The city of Bellflower usually does not have all that good quality of restaurants, besides Fronk's & Alberto's. I've only tried the beef and teriyaki plate, & I must say, VERY PLENTIFUL. You will not leave this place hungry. The quality is very good. You can also get the rice in brown rice if you are health conscious. The price is very decent for what you are getting. They should be charging more in my opinion. All in all, I will return & try out their new menu options, once they are available. FYI, the burger trend must go, because In N Out will remain king no matter what. read more

2nd time here. The fries are great, but super filling. I always share them with someone or end up giving the rest away. You can get a choice of spicy or non-spicy, I get them spicy ($4.50)! Worth it because the portions are hUuuuUuuge!!! It's $1.00 to add guac. Ordered kookoo balls for the first time. Crunchy on the outside, saucy on the inside! So yummy! Anyway, this is the type of place I would only visit once every two months because the portions are so hefty. Other than that, would recommend. Customer service could be better. read more

I have to give this place 5 stars! Coming in feeling welcome and this place is so clean. While ordering the server was really kind and sweet! I believe she was the manager, but either way she was really sweet! Also while ordering another server came up with tacos! Chicken and beef and they both were good. Won my heart by free food and tacos! I ordered the KooKoo Fries and my girl ordered the chicken and beef bowl. The fries were bomb, I almost finished it and the bowl was great as well! I can tell the customers love the place because before they left they came up to the counter and said bye. All the workers said bye and that's when you know this place gives great service! Where has this place been all my life??? OMG the food here is off the hook! It's a fusion style of Korean and Mexican cuisine. The different pairing of spices and flavors just create food out of this world. It looks like a little mom and pop type of place but with the most amazing food. I ordered the KooKoo fries with beef and the KooKoo beef wrap. Absolutely amazing and well put together. The portion for the wrap was so huge I had to take it home. I eat a lot and even I couldn't finish it. I will definitely be coming back for some more. Awesome customer service and they even have a drive thru. You gotta try KooKoos for yourself! read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and I'm glad I finally got to try it. Service: it looks cooked to order but it doesn't take that long to get your food. Food: I got the chicken plate with veggies, and 2 Koo Koo balls for my girlfriend. The Koo Koo balls were big, I got to try some. The chicken and veggies plate was big, I would definitely recommend going regular size unless you're super hungry. Price: $11 for 2 people, no drinks, just water cups. It was worth it. read more

Koo Koo Teriyaki Grill really lives up to its name serving Mexican/Asian fusion food. When I first came in, my friends brought me saying that it was the best teriyaki around. The place itself looks like a typical mom and pop burger joint at first glance, but the tables have a variety of homemade sauces including their Koo Koo sauce. Now I was interested. I let my friends order for me saying that I should try this and that. I've tried almost everything from the Koo Koo balls to the Koo Koo Wrap and even just their basic teriyaki. From what I've tasted, here's what I think: EVERYTHING IS DELICIOUS! It's food that is both unique and familiar. I'm Mexican so tacos are right up my alley, so these Fusion Tacos, with teriyaki beef , are simply amazing. Out of everything, my favorite is the Teriyaki Udon. I get it with beef because the way they cook it, it comes up a little crispy, not burned, and simply delicious. I kid you not, I come back for the udon and always get somethin on the side like the Koo Koo balls. The portions are plentiful and I never learn my lesson by ordering too much and taking the leftovers home. It's just too good! If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend to try it out.
