On the corner across from Pack Square, it's surprisingly easy to walk past without noticing. There are several restaurants all adjacent to each other, and one shares the patio, at least externally. There is a partition between them on the inside. The patio seats maybe 10, with a few couples tables inside. I still don't know if we were supposed to order at the counter, but our server eventually came out to our table. We had a larger group which would have filled the entire inside area, so I'm glad we had the option of ordering from the table. The food took maybe 15 minutes to come out. From our vantage point looking down the prep line, everything was made fresh. The Bomba Cubano was everything you would expect a Cuban sandwich to be. Roast pork, slices of ham, cheese, pickles, and mustard pressed into melty goodness. The fries were very good, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Perico Arepa got rave reviews from several in our party. It was said to compare favorably to those eaten in Puerto Rice. The Bomba Roll was also very good with a nice mix of flavors. While there are many food options available in Asheville in general, and even within a block of Bomba, you should make a stop here. This was one of the worst restaurants I've been to in Asheville. First, I'll start by saying the ambiance is so cute and our waiter was good. It was my birthday lunch and I was excited to try it out based on reviews. When we were sat I asked for water and our waiter informed me that they DO NOT serve water. You can purchase water, still or sparkling but when I asked for tap he said he was sorry but they don't offer tap water. Is that even legal? Like...can I get a glass and fill it up in the bathroom? lol. First time in the states I've experienced this. I ordered the Niscoise salad, my favorite, and it came out as two small thin overcooked, unsalted and chewy salmon pieces over a bed of chopped hearts of romaine, which were yellow in color and bitter to taste. They put a fried egg on it and garnished it with a few green cocktail olives. That was it. It was served with what tasted like honey mustard thick yellow dressing. Do they even know what a Niscoise salad is? No potatoes, no green beans, no mixed greens, no vinegarette. Maybe it was an off day, but it was comically bad, my best friend and I agreed, and we will never be back. The salad was bad but forgivable, price gouging people for water is absolutely ridiculous. You're telling me your restaurant has no running water? Just...no. read more

I would go out of my way to eat brunch here, every element of the meal was somewhere between high quality and best I've had in recent memory. The bloody Mary was exactly the way I like it, peppery, zingy, spicy and the right amount of booze. The Cubano was balanced, the perfect amount of sweetness. The arepa plate is generous, colorful, and cooked to perfection, even the fruit on the plate was ripe and satisfying. The servers are welcoming and laid back but still professional and check up on you but not so much that it's stifling. Would recommend to anyone. read more

Got this reccomendation and it did not dissapoint. The papusa was everything. You will have to get one with whatever you get. It was a stuffed arepa with cheese I think??! The bread was so good and the cheese stretched as far as you could stretch it. You could tell that it was fresh. The pork was seasoned deliciously and everything was very very good. The Beans and rice were mild and I loved that they weren't too salty. They were out of a few things that we wanted to get, but they were also very busy. I can see why they're so busy. So the area for the restaurant is rather small, and menu was rather expensive; however, the presentation of the plates was great. My vegetarian friend struggled to find something that didn't come with meat, but worked with the server to get the Nutella crêpe with only fruit and Nutella. While walking around Asheville, my wife and I found Bomba. I immediately ordered the Cuban (because I like a good Cuban sandwich). She had the Avocado Toast and a Mimosa. I gazed at the hand crafted pastries, but didn't have one - they looked very good though. The food here was super! Not only did it taste great, it had awesome presentation as well. You order at the counter, have a seat, and they bring it to you. There is outside seating, alcohol options, and great service. Everything I've had here is amazing and I've had most their menu at this point. My favorite as always is the papusas, but even their more basic offerings like the salmon nicoise salad is fantastic. Like everywhere with inflation and supply chain issues they've had to adjust prices have definitely hit the cost of a special treat breakfast spot than a go to regular spot. Bomba is without a doubt my favorite brunch place in Asheville. It has a great brunch atmosphere (think Parisian cafe vibes) and a fantastic menu. The restaurant itself is small, so most seating is outdoors and they don't take reservations. I've gone three times and had to wait 25 min one time, 45 min another, and was seated immediately most recently. The wait isn't bad since you can order coffee from them inside and sip on it while you wait. All the food is delicious, portions are huge, and I like that each dish comes with a seasonal fruit. Besides being known for its great location on Pack Square, its all-day breakfasts, sandwiches and interesting coffees (it has Cubano and iced Vietnamese, among others), Bomba also specializes in Chicken Al Carbon, charcoal-grilled local organic chicken. We ordered two half chicken plates ($11 each) for takeout. The Bomba website and even signs in the restaurant say the plate comes with tortillas and three sides, but in fact it now comes with only two sides. Still, it's a good deal of food at a reasonable price. Among the sides we tried were the fried plantains, the arepa with muenster cheese, mac 'n cheese and the green salad. We liked the plantains and the green salad best. All in all, Bomba is a pretty good choice for a coffee and a snack or a meal, and for takeout. read more

Today (10/4) was a very interesting day to come in. A girl was being really rude to the other girl, and a few minutes later walked out and left the other employees to struggle. This made the service really slow, and I was surprised that the manager man didn't really help. The Bomba Roll with Pork is amazingly good. It came with plantains and a salad that was also delicious. I recommend the Bomba Roll for breakfast or even lunch. No much indoor seating. Just 4 tables with 2 chairs at each. Small outdoor patio. This place probably only holds 15 people total. We (party of two) arrived and were told we could have a seat at the patio outside. When we walked to our table we realized there was only one chair, so we told the hostess and she said we could wait for a new table. We were eventually seated inside beside the checkout counter facing the patio in very small stools but that's not a huge deal. It took forever to get our drinks- a water that wasn't free and a latte that I had to remind the waitress about. Our food took about 45 minutes, which was very strange because it genuinely seemed like no one's food was coming out. I don't mind a wait for good food but that's not what we received. I had the breakfast tacos with steak which came with two tortillas and a heaping amount of food. The food was bland and unseasoned. The steak was chewy and required vigorous sawing to cut into bite size pieces for the tacos.. which was also an issue because the plate was piled with food so it was hard to cut everything up. I ended up just eating it deconstructed, and finished about half of it. My friend had the huevos rancheros and didn't enjoy it either. It was a lot of food but everything was lacking flavor. The other reviews were very misleading and I'm disappointed that we chose this as our brunch stop on our last day in the area. I will say that the service was lacking but I'm assuming this is because they have a couple of servers doing everything- hosting, serving, busing tables, making coffee, etc. Honestly I wouldn't be happy if I were doing the job of 4 people so I understand why they weren't warm and welcoming. read more

Had breakfast here. The five stars are truly reflective of the food. It was delicious with large portions. Don't go there if you need to eat and run, it's a slow process. It's pricey for breakfast but beats fast food. I'd give the tables a "1 star". They needed some shims underneath them and they've crammed lots of tables within a small space. The crabcake was so salty it was disgusting. It was like biting into a salted, salt soft pretzel. When I complained, the manager (or the chef?) got angry and accused me of just wanting a free meal. I'm from Baltimore, and I know what a crabcake is supposed to taste like. It seemed like they were over-salting to hide an old container of crab meat. Good thing I didn't get sick.
