Another Yelp find, we decided to check out for breakfast....What we did not realize until we arrived is that it's a small restaurant inside of a time share leasing office (?) There was only 1 other table seated when we arrived, but decided to give it a try. The staff told us we could sit anywhere, we did, they came to get drink orders, and came back shortly after with our drinks and ready to take our food order.....but they had not yet given us menus. The waiter brough us menus, which were about half the size of what we saw online, and when asked he said they were "revamping" their menu, so this is all they could offer now... I ended up ordering the "southern hospitality" breakfast biscuit with a side of home fries. After placing our orders the waiter left without saying anything, and we never saw him again (???). Eventually, after a bit of a wait, someone else came out from the kitchen with our food, but he wasn't sure who had what. I will say the southern hospitality was piled high and a very large for the price, but it was a bit too large and messy with the pimento cheese to try and eat with my hands, unfortunately it's served in a piece of wax paper in plastic basket...trying to cut your food in basket full of holes, just means the wax paper tears. In the end it was good, a great price, but a much bigger mess than it needed to be. They staff needs to work on communication/people skills, and serve the food on a plates.....baskets are fine for finger foods, like fries, but not in a nicer place where you may need to use utensils. read more

This place is a little out-of-way gem waiting to be more widely discovered. It's not perfect -- the gem still needs some polishing around the edges, but well worth a visit. It's a 4.5 stars for me. There are three dining areas: an upstairs bar, downstairs main dining room and a large two-part patio area (in season). Very modern decor. The service was outstanding -- friendly and very efficient. The menu changes seasonally. There are specials, including ones like 1/2 price wines on Friday nights. Our party started with baba ghanoush and parmesan truffle fries appetizers. The ghanoush was good but needed a little something to sharpen or heighten the favor. The fries though were wonderful -- the best fries-as-appetizer I've had. I could make a meal just out of a couple orders of these! For entrees, we had: chicken schnitzel, pot roast and drunken rotini. I'd like to think the schnitzel is intended to be a Southern reinterpretation of traditional schnitzel. It's a great piece of breaded chicken, but not the typical pounded-thin schnitzel. This was more like a huge, thick boneless breast that you'd get on a Southern hot chicken sandwich. But the breading was very original, topped with tangy pickled cabbage and tasty gravy, and served with thinly-sliced, crispy Brussels sprouts. The chicken was tender with great flavor. The Brussels sprouts were 2nd best in AVL, behind only Copper Crown. The drunken rotini had a very good vodka tomato cream sauce. The pot roast was tender and tasty, like your grandma would make on Sundays (assuming she was a really good cook!), served English-style with creamy mashed potatoes and peas (which were actually quite good). Excellent cocktails, solid wine and beer selection. Reasonable prices. We'll be going back for the summer menu, enjoying cocktails on the patio! You should try this place, too. One final note: it took a while to get our entrees. They were busy and it may be a small kitchen. But we were having great conversation and enjoying our drinks, so it was fine. Cute place! Great "lounge" vibe, and very friendly staff. We came on a cold night when they weren't very busy and just needed a small snack but had a great experience. My husband loved his cocktail (I think it was something date related? can't remember details), and I loved the fried green tomatoes. They had a lot more going on than just basic FGTs and they were delicious, and quite large. We also had the pork kebabs. These were decent, they had a little bit of a KBBQ flavor but it was a bit on the subtle side. They came with a nice red pepper puree and some mushrooms that I avoided. I would definitely order the FGTs again but probably would sample something different to complement it. If I hadn't gotten sick soon after we probably would have come back when hungrier because there were a lot of items on the full menu that sounded good. read more

This was a great place to eat! The ambiance is lovely. It's very modern but extremely comfortable. The seats are very comfortable even the children that were with us stayed in their seats. We came in around 6 pm with 5 adults and 2 kids under 10. They were able to seat us immediately. The service was fantastic. They were very friendly and accommodating for us. The food was phenomenal. We stayed at the Biltmore Residences and decided to try the restaurant on premises. It is beautiful inside with a very cozy outdoor deck downstairs. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I had a chicken pasta dish which was outstanding. It had a chili sauce type of dressing which was incredible. While very tasty, they short you a little on the pasta. My wife had a turkey wrap which she enjoyed, but only had just a touch of turkey. The wrap was full, but very little turkey. I definitely recommend, but make sure they don't short change you a little on the amount of food. read more

We sent it back, waitress said it was under the heat lamp, she said they would remake it, she came back with what appeared to be the same bowl of pasta, we think she took the top layer of noodles off. Whatever the case, how can you mess up pasta with butter? We also had an order of chicken tenders, they were burnt! The shrimp wrap ($12) had a meager 4 or 5 sad shrimp- floating in a slaw with way too much mayonnaise. Fries were the only highlight- flavorful and hot. Service was very attentive, but the kitchen was shockingly slow (especially given how few people were in the restaurant.) Decor was cool even if the spot seems like an odd blend of apartment front desk and dining area. Prices were steep given the quality of the food. We were staying in the attached hotel so this location is really convenient. The food and coffee was pretty good. Most importantly, we were saddened and frustrated by the use of single use plastic throughout the sit-down meal. Our waters came in plastic cups - cups that will be energy intensive to recycle and ultimately, many years from now, leave toxic, non-biodegradable compounds behind. Similarly with the individually packaged creamers, etc. I would encourage this restaurant to take a look at reusable alternatives (ex. glass cups!) -- they might find it ends up saving them money as well! read more
