Indian burritos are like a spinoff of your favourite show. So the next question is this a Star Trek DS9, or a Star Trek Enterprise kind of deal. Quite happily, I'm proud to say it's the former. Bombay Burrito is pretty close to what you imagine an Indian burrito to be. Curry, chutneys, chickpeas, salad, chilli (proper spicy chilli) and delicious spices. Each day they have rotating specials meaning the menu is small, but there should always be something new or in rotation. The staff, were great. Very friendly, and packed our burritos to the brim. We were here with a groupon, but that didn't matter, I challenged that one of our burritos couldn't be folded, and was absolutely impressed when it turned out I was clearly wrong. Additionally, we were allowed to pick any beer from the selection. I was surprised at the range of quite interesting craft beers I hadn't seen anywhere else. The 8% one was a refreshing surprise and turned me red (asian glow) within 5 minutes. Whilst there we also scavenged some poppadum crisps from a table that hadn't finished and were friendly enough to pass them our way (I say pass, but really I meant: we asked and took :D). The staff noticed and were kind enough to offer us some additional chutneys to use as dip. Now that's lovely human service. So in all, Indian burritos all things being fair, should take off in a big way. I'm not sure if Bombay Burrito is the chain to do it, but I really hope they do. The combination of great food, drink is a hit. It just needs the marketing drive and the hipsters to support it to really take off. read more

Indian food in a tortilla wrap? Sounds tasty to me! The burrito was fantastic and I would have been only more excited if they told me they created a magical thin naan for the wrap instead. Oddly, even though this is not Mexican food, Bombay Burrito created the most well wrapped burrito we have had in London. It was the perfect amount of filling and neatly rolled and wrapped. There is nothing worse than torn tortillas or overstuffed burritos with everything leaking out, or worse yet, a burrito that is so poorly wrapped it requires a fork and knife. We tried the chicken tikka masala ...and it was magical. Plentiful juicy chunks of chicken with your choice of other toppings including onions, chickpeas, sauces, etc. I hope they are getting good business. We went on a Saturday for lunch and it was pretty quiet. Can't wait to go again! read more

This place opened up not long ago, decided to go in to have a look. Place looks clean with friendly staffs, burritos comes in medium to large size. (Medium is pretty filling) The best thing about the burritos here are definitely the long list of toppings to choose from, fro salsa to onions to sour cream, cheese, lettuce, different kinds of curry, beans, rice, corn etc... the list is more than what you would normally expect, plus, the guy serving me was happy to put everything inside my oh so expanding burrito! I had the vegetarian burrito, with paneer cheese, though i wasn't a big fan of the cheese with its lack of saltiness (i eat really salty food) there were 2 long pieces of paneer cheese given. Also, one good thing about their curries is that all of them come vegetarian! Tikka Masala in vegetarian burrito? Booyaaaaa! A little confusing to order on Just Eat as you are provided with a lot of zero cost options which I could not really tell what they are for. Some descriptions would help. Once the food arrived the first box had Two Onion Bhajis - they were both large round very filling and crispy coating. It's does get a little too much though to eat two of these in one go. Suggest just having one with some other item would be a better choice. But tasted nice. I had opted for the spicy sauce and when I tried it had a nice lemon back taste but not very spicy. The Burrito was next and came with two thick slices of panner, some onion and chips with some sauce. Afraid to say with no real spice or taste and i felt filled up but not really anything i can write home about for the £16.00 it is a very bland experience and not one i will be doing again. I can't say adding the chicken would make much more sense as without spices it will just be the same experience. Left feeling poorer and dissatisfied. Now to the chocolate brownie which was rich and soft and crumbly and I must say this helped. Not sure how a brownie fits into the scheme but not to worry it was nice. I am not a fan of lassie so did not try the mango lassie part and there was no easy way to substitute this item either. I know boxpark has a number of restaurants so will maybe try another sometime but I hope to have a better experience as at the price I am better off going to a nice restaurant to be honest. But I did note they do a lot more dishes so all being said i may try a different dish next time as possibly I picked their blandest item so let's see if they can redeem themselves. read more

SO one day after a day of extreme shopping i went to Bombay Burrito with my friend. We were a bit confused as to how to order but it was nice. 1. You choose the type of meal you want. We chose Bombay Burritos. 2. You choose the filling...I chose shredded beef YUM! 3. You add a curry... I used Palak (not sure what type of curry sauce it was but it was delicious) 4. Choosing the addins...I used Raita!!! All in all it was delicious and the burritos are a GOOD size. So definitely worth the money you pay. I will try this place again.... read more

They've taken the 'Mexican' burrito concept and done an Indian version and you know what, it works. Hey, why not? I think 'Indian' burritos could be to the UK as 'Mexican' burritos are to the US. A choice of curry sauces ranging from mild to spicy, I chose the Dopiaza (med-hot). A choice of fillings (tandoori chicken, shredded beef or paneer) then pilau rice or chana masala and other toppings wrapped in a burrito wrapper. The server was friendly and explained the choices. I really enjoyed it. The chicken was good and the sauce was great. It worked together well. My only thought to improving more would be to have more green, fresh zingy items to complement the curry and rice. Perhaps because I visited late in the evening and toppings might have been running low but I think there's maybe even more opportunity with an Indian theme vs Mexican for more interesting toppings, freshness, herbs and crispy bits like those behl puri street foods for example. Also what about some more exciting veg options vs paneer ? - not so exciting. The menu also has tikka tacos and curry or salad bowls too. And the price was right at £4.95 for a medium size (large also available) which is where it should be and makes the nearby 'Mexican' burrito places such as Chipotle look outrageous in comparison. read more

Having Been there couple of times for a quick lunch I believe that it is a brilliant concept but lacks the 'oomph' when it comes to the culinary execution. I really love the setup, the staff are lovely but the flavour in the food doesn't do it for me. The curries lack that bit of Indian authenticity and may be because of either the ingredients or done deliberately to keep things mild. Exactly same as a standard burrito place. Main filling and toppings but basically Indian twist in form of a burrito or nudos with curries and chutneys. Definitely good galue for money and very popular with the young student crowd. As I said earlier, it is a brilliant concept so do try it out. read more

I love Bombay Burrito. It's a fairly new shop and as I walked past, the name definitely stood out to me and at first I was quite sceptical - curry in a wrap? But curiosity got the better of me and I was so pleasantly surprised! I think it's because of the format of the way the meal is constructed with so much flexibility of choice. You have three sizes - large, medium and the tiny taquito - which I love just as a mini snack! Next comes rice, you pick your meat and then your curry sauce, lastly any garnishes, I personally like to pick lettuce, crispy fried onions and mango chutney. And there's tons more to choose from! The staff are very friendly, the food is actually delicious - it's the taste and variety that keeps me coming back. You have to try it, with it being so close to Angel Station, you have time to pop by. I so hope Bombay Burrito grows with popularity because the last place that was there before came and went so quickly - which is why I felt compelled to write a review to help support this unique and delicious place, I love bombay burrito, such a unique, refreshing change to the normal. Amazing! Really delicious choices of curries, fillings, sauces. Nice place to grab a burrito before heading to the park on a sunny weekend. Really love paneer & tikka masala. Over 10+ sauces to choose from, particularly fond of: chili garlic & coriander. Love the mini burritos - each one costs 2.50 and you can fill it with any combination if ingredients and sauces to test our what you like. Chipotle Masala would be a good alternate name for this place, trademark violations notwithstanding. The portion is also fairly reasonable and once can still contemplate moving at a brisk pace after their meal. WTF? Indian burritos? That's what I thought when I walked by this store a number of times. I broke down about 3 months ago and decided that I would head in for a go... and boy am I glad I caved. I still can't go as far as getting the actual burrito, but the curry bowl (the ''naked burrito'' version) is to die for. An almost weekly, if not assuredly fortnightly rotation in the lunch menu. Indian Curry Burritos are a niche, but a tasty niche indeed. It's been a while since I went to Angel's Bombay Burrito, but was glad I went in. The servers were friendly and explained some of the choices like Xacuti (which is coconut based) Prices start at £5.50 for a regular burrito or have a meal deal (poppadoms, chutney and a drink) for a extra £2. The burritos are filling, but I found mine to have a bit too much in that it feel out the bread wrapping so I had to use a fork to eat most of it. The downstairs has more seating and has some posters based on classic films. The whole shop looked clean, which is a plus. I lived in London for 10 years, many of them in Islington. This is my new favorite place in ad around The Angel. The food is crazy simple and insanely good. The service is always fast and courteous. A measure of how much I enjoyed it is that I am in California still wishing I was in Islington for Bombay Burrito. A fresh twist on two of my all time favorite foods. Delicious. We were apprehensive at first. The "Lettuce" was flats of iceberg, and the woman cutting chicken behind the counter was clearly new to knives. This is Indian food - shouldn't the chicken have been cut and marinated before cooking? After much deliberation, I did get a salad, with the onion mix, at least 10oz of chicken breast, and the tangy, medium spicy Xacutti which she let me sample first. On top of that full meal, chickpeas, fried onions, raita and cilantro sauce were added. Who said salads aren't filling? I was wrong about the chicken - it was moist and tender. There was so much going on in the sauces that I didn't need each piece marinated. Everything worked well together, I'm sure I could have gone wild with chutneys. The pulled beef burrito with Tikka Masala sauce was dry, and the bland beef, rice and tortilla negated any flavor in the sauce. Stick to the chicken. One thing that I have to share - there were baby green bugs on some of the lettuce. I hope it tells you how tasty it was that I carefully inspected my lettuce, set the buggy ones aside (there were maybe 2 pieces), and happily kept eating. read more

Spicy yumminess to fit neatly in the crook of your hand! It's all done assembly line style which can look a little sterile and unappetizing when the place isn't busy, but don't be put off. Everything tastes fresh and the barrenness of the kitchen really just means they have everything under control. You have a choice of chicken/paneer/beef which are all grilled ready to go into your burrito and then you pick a curry (from mild dhansak to spicy spicy vindaloo) that gets spooned over top the meat and/or cheese (apparently you can mix if you want!) and rice. I can only speak for the chicken but they're nice big chunks and not dry at all. THEN there are all the optional add-ins - grilled caramelized onions, spiced chickpeas, jalapenos, fresh coriander and plenty of hot and cool chutneys to choose from. Best yet they have a really interesting selection of 6-7 varieties of bottled beers - 5 of which I'd never seen before. I tried a hoppy IPA which made me very happy. Judging by the labels on others of the beers, the rest are a bunch of interesting craft brews from around the UK. This small detail alone, I like to believe, is the mark of a savvy spot. Go! With all the burritos spots lining upper street, I had no idea about this little gem around the corner. Secret: You don't have to choose either chicken or paneer - you can get them together. I had the chicken and paneer korma wrap with some mango chutney on the side. I skipped the rice but felt full on the chickpeas which felt like the healthier option whilst still getting full! We did this as a quick meal before hitting the Vue for a movie and it was a great alternative to the traditional mexican burrito you can get otherwise on the high street with a little indian twist.
