The fries were fatty and easily competed with McDonads, plus the masala obviously, but a crispy treat. The lamb and chicken tikka rolls were bangers too. My ultimate purpose for trying Kati Roll - unlike say my experiences venturing out random Prets in the UK - was to see whether the Achari Paneer Roll tasted just like the NYC equivalent or better. If it was infinitely better than the NYC location, then we got problems back in the US lol. To my surprise however, both locations tasted exactly the same. That was a pleasant surprise to me. The rolls were tight and not soggy. The paneer was savory. The roll itself was nice and tasty. Reminded me of back home. Even the pricing, which at 11.70 GBP/2 rolls ends up around the same total as the US. Because of the VAT inclusion when dining in vs. takeaway and the fact that every table was full as it is, I had to eat these on the go. Couldn't help but stop in and get one-- which turned out to be two since they have an ongoing offer for .5£ off if you buy 2. Got us pretty full which made it tough to go to dinner but oh well. Solid kati rolls! The paratha was a little bit overcooked and over crispy, and the chicken in the Tikka Masala roll was also a little bit overcooked and just a tad on the dry side. However, both the aloo (potato) and chicken tikka rolls were well spiced and super flavorful. Both rolls also had delicious heat in them. So, be prepared to sweat a little bit if you can't handle spicy spice. The restaurant itself is also decorated in fun old school Bollywood murals. Tasty! A friend of mine described what Kati Roll serves as "Indian Burritos" and that's a pretty apt comparison. I've tried the chicken tikka and beef rolls, and both were quite good. The fillings and seasonings are yummy but I think the thing that makes these rolls is the naan wrap (I'm assuming it's naan bread!) and the way they cook it on the grill. The char and oil really make the flavor come out and the process renders it even slightly more interesting that a similarly prepared tortilla. I could go for some complimentary flavors in the roll like some tomato, greens or cheese, but perhaps that's to be found in some of the other rolls; the available sauces definitely help add some contrast into the mix. One roll + a beer is around 10 £ so it's a inexpensive and satisfying meal. The space isn't exciting so don't expect to hang out there. read more

The place has its own vibe which takes you back in time. The posters on the wall, take you to your childhood. I ordered achari paneer role which was just alright as the paneer in the roll was too cold, the saving grace for the roll was the green chutney. The chai tasted like it had been sitting in the store for a very long time and wasn't what I was expecting at the time of ordering. Small shop right off Oxford street for a quick bite and a break from shopping - I ordered and got my food within 10 minutes!! I ordered the shami kebab (lamb) roll and unda chicken roll with a mango lassi. The drink was refreshing and the mango flavor was very sweet. But the texture was a little too thick for my liking (It reminded me of Danimals yogurt cups.) The chicken roll with beaten eggs was delicious and my favorite. The lamb roll was interesting, the herbs and spices were very unique. The rolls are extremely oily and wrapped in thin paper, which makes the oil pool at the bottom of the roll. I really like this place. It's ideal for lunch on the go, or in my case, soak up some beer at the end of a night out! I've been coming to this place, on and off now for the past few years, and it's never failed to fill me up sufficiently and in a good way. The basis on this place is simple. They offer two types of wraps, Paratha, which is their original grilled bread, or Roti, which is whole wheat roasted bread. Once you choose your bread, you have a choice of Indian fillings.I tend to go for the roti and on this visit chose the Chicken Tikka filling and it only came to £3.75. A bargain!! If their are two of you are your'e extra hungry you can get 2 for £7.00. An even bigger bargain! Think of any sort of popular curry dish, and you can you usually get it here in a wrap. The store itself is long and narrow with the serving area at the far end. It is always packed when I go, and tends to have lots of Indian customers, which to me is a good sign. Although their is seating here, I tend to get my roti, and take it with me. They also have a Swipii loyalty system. This means you can either get a free soft drink after three visits, or a free wrap after five visits. The Kati Roll Company is well situated near Oxford Circus, just off Oxford Street. If you're in the area and feeling a bit peckish, it's an ideal place to pop into and satisfy your appetite. I highly recommmend this place for a good and different take out option. read more

Wow this place is delicious. Small wraps stuffed with deliciously spiced fillings. I got the chana masala (chickpeas), but they have a lot of both vegetarian and meat options. The star of the show was the paratha bread though, reminds me of Chinese scallion pancakes in consistency and texture. This is what I have been craving instead of the naan that I find overly crispy in London. I prefer a breadier texture I guess. This bread was chewy and fresh, better than a tortilla. The only thing that could make this place better is if they had additional toppings to add some crunch or freshness, but it wouldn't be as authentic. Maybe even some basmati rice or raita. Tucked away on Poland Street this restaurant a great ambience with walls filled with old Hindi movie posters and Indian music blaring out the speakers. I ordered the Paneer Roll which was delicious. Not too dry and not too soggy. It could have been slightly warmer however. I think timing is everything at this place, the busier they are the fresher and warmer your meal. I passed this place on Poland St Soho without even a thought most days. It's hard to notice it from outside. Once inside I loved the Bollywood style Bombay Cafe wallpaper. Very cool. It's a narrow place but there was a queue already at midday (strange I thought as it was early for lunch). but a good sign. I wanted something cheap and cheerful so I could take out and wander the streets of Soho. I knew they had a variety (a very good choice) of Paratha wraps. Being Asian I've had a lot of Paratha's in my time. I really wanted to taste it without meat so I opted for the sweet potato. I actually got 2 (they have a deal on always where you can have 2 of same for slightly cheaper price). I had to wait about 20 mins. But to me this is a good sign as it was really being made fresh. I sat down and waited. The Sweet potato was worth the wait. In fact one roll was enough. It was stuffed with potato! The Paratha was very well made. I will definitely come back to have a lamb or chicken one. Maybe just one on it's own actually. At about £3.50 it was a good lunch meal in a bustling Soho scene. read more

After reading and hearing about this place I was really excited to go and visit but I have to say when I went for the first time with my friend that recommended it I wasn't blown away. The decor is really cool and very on 'theme' and there's sufficient seating. We ordered 2 rolls each and a tea to have in. The food came really quickly but we had to wait 25 minutes for the tea to arrive after my friend chased them a few times. I found the rolls quite soggy and they didn't look like they had been cooked very well but somehow the flavours were still good. It was a cheap and cheerful place and I love Indian food A LOT so it was ok but definitely not a WOW for me. However, a few weeks later I was at the pub next door with my partner and it was fairly late and he really wanted some food but not in a sit down formal setting, just something quick and easy to grab. As it was next door and open until fairly late I recommended Kati Roll and we popped in to give it another go. We ordered 2 rolls each and a beer to have in quickly. I LOVED IT! PHEW! I had an egg and potato paratha roll and a prawn paratha roll both cooked beautifully and farily crispy on the outside, just the way I like it. My partner ordered the chicken tikka roll as a roti and the mince and potato one which is his favourite now. We also ordered the green chutney pots to go with it which are a perfect accompaniment and at 25p a pot an absolutely steal. My partner finished his in about 5 minutes with a big smile on his face and as we were leaving he went up to the counter to order 4 more to take away with him! We were both impressed and ever since then I've probably come back 10 times or so and every time has been exceptional. I'm so pleased I came back to give this place another go. Every time my partner knows I'm knocking about Soho I always get a text saying 'if you go past Kati Roll can you pick me up a couple please!'. Definitely a winner in our household. read more

This is some of the best late night eats I have ever had, and located right in the middle of Soho, it is a perfect spot to pick up a treat after enjoying your night. This incredibly orange shop is my new favourite Indian place in London. That does seem like quite a bold statement, but it really is an exciting option for lunch. The reason it is so exciting is not just because of its excentric orange paint job, but also the fact that Indian food in a roll is just delicious. As I had never heard of the place before, I asked the man in the shop a little bit about it. He told me that it started in New York and now there is a store in London. It definitely has a bit of a New York vibe about it as well. There is a selection of chicken, beef and vege rolls on offer. I went for 2 beef tikka rolls, which cost 6 pounds. During my last day in London, I decided to try another Indian dish in which I was not willing to spend more than £8. Located in a side street very close to Oxford Circus, I decided to come to this place. I was not too familiar with Kati Rolls before coming so I asked the people who work there what is their most popular Kati Roll. They said to me the Unda Chicken Roll is their most popular one. I decided to get one, even though it was about £.75 more than the Chicken Tikka Roll on the menu. After waiting a few minutes, my Kati Roll came in. I sat down and began to eat it, and I thought it was one of the tastiest Indian dishes I had. Despite the greasiness, I loved the texture of the flat-bread. It was so warm, soft and chewy. As for the inside, the chicken was really tasty. Tender and meaty, with a nice flavourful spice. The vegetables inside were pretty good as well. I think one roll might be decent for a light lunch, but two of them can definitely get your stomach full. I found out that this place has another location in New York City, so I'll keep that in mind the next time I visit. Overall, this is a pretty tasty place to get some Indian take away, and I would definitely come back here again if I do not want to spend too much money while visiting Oxford Circus. read more

I was left disappointed. This is just saying it mildly. I've had huge expectations for this place since I've bookmarked it years ago due to the yelpers' good reviews. However, when we turned up late in the evening we found that there were a few patrons, plenty of seats, and one person working at the till. I ordered two mint lamb wraps, they were quite tiny for the price. The wraps were reheated. Granted the fillings were great it was filled to the brim but the sort of non-fresh reheated wrap was ruining the taste. It was also very tiny so one wrap would not have fed anyone sufficiently for lunch or dinner! My companion's wrap was not hot enough and she took it back for a further reheat...mmm maybe just bad luck? I'm not sure I want to come back during lunch with the supposedly massive queues just to see whether it's really as good as other people have been saying it was! Walked by this place once earlier in the day and then decided to return for dinner even though we had actually tried to eat at another place nearby but couldn't get in - which turned out to be fortuitous, because Kati Roll for the WIN! Not knowing how large the roll was, I stupidly got only one. My husband ordered two of them. We both got the lovely green mint chutney to go with them. I wolfed mine down like I hadn't eaten in 3 days (because it was so delicious) and then tried to eat half of one of his. We really should have ordered more to go, but we were tired and not thinking clearly. The wrap was buttery with a little bit of crispiness without being dry and chewy. I had chicken and it was simple, yet tasty. The chutney really brought it all home. I wish I'd ordered more of it. It added just enough heat without being over the top. Now that I'm back home in Seattle, I've been looking for a recipe to try to recreate these. I can't wait to go back to London in a few months and eat there again... and again..... and again.... I would call these delicious wraps 'Indian Food Burritos,' but I am not very cultured. Apparently they are common Indian street food, but I have never been on an Indian street, so I wouldn't know for sure. In any case, these things are mega-delicious. They take a long time to make, but that means they always taste fresh and hot. There are little bits of veggies and onions in there, but these things are mostly meat (yummy, spicy, tender meat- unless you get egg or potato, which are not meat). The roti-type wrap beats the hell out of tortillas, and I love tortillas, so that means a lot. Be warned, however, that if you get them for takeaway, they will stink up your entire office. read more

With the first ever YO!Sushi on the same street, perhaps Kati Roll are hoping that some of that stardust will rub off on them. It's the first London outpost of an idea that started in New York. I'm not sure whether these takeaway rolls also exist in India as my server wasn't sure. Although there is a small seating area, these rolls are designed for portability. Soft but slightly flaky paratha breads are filled with a choice of hot savoury fillings - chicken, beef and lamb for the carnivores or egg, potato and paneer for the vetetarians. This is topped with vegetables and caramelised onions and finished with a twist of lime. I really enjoyed my chicken roll. Think a fresher and lighter version of a kebab to get an idea. Mmm my fave quickstop for food in the area, most recently when in need of a speedy dinner en route to the Shaftesbury Avenue Cineworld. I was ridin' solo this time, but bring a friend - the rolls go from good value to great value with the 2 for £8ish offers, plus you get to try more types! Alternatively no shame in just ordering yourself a big feast for one :D The rolls are made of soft layered paratha bread (which I used to just scoff plain as a child mmm), stuffed with a filling of your choice and yummy veggies on top. For me the best one is the achaari paneer roll, probably because I've grown up loving the taste of achaar pickle having watched my grandma making it at home out of mango, lemon, chilli and spices. It's the perfect flavouring to team with the paneer (cheese). Last time I went with a fellow omnivore and had a Chicken Tikka roll each too, which was also nicely spicy and full of flavour. The crowd always seems to have an Asian majority, which makes me think I'm not the only one enjoying the flavours of 'home' in this setting. It usually takes a good 10 mins so not the fastest of fast food but oh so worth the little wait. If you have time to eat in, take a seat beneath an old bollywood poster and enjoy with a cup of masala chai. You might be able to manage two rolls; I usually manage one-and-a-half and save the rest for later - they have some useful foil-lined takeaway packets that stop the smell infiltrating your whole bag (shame they couldn't help with the smell on my tingling lips and fingers afterwards though - I rocked up at the cinema massively paranoid at being the walking cliche of an indian girl who smells like a curryhouse...!). After reading all the reviews on Yelp about the Kati Roll Company, I just could not wait to try it! Tried the Beef Tikka, hmmm..... Service was slow. The wrap was way smaller than I was expecting for £3.40p. The beef was soooo tough and fatty, very disappointing, It was like chewing old leather! There was no salad or extra in the wrap - just a few pieces of fatty tough beef with a bit of red onion. So, no, was not impressed at all, I was actually disappointed;-( Moolie's is so much better. The idea of these types of places excites me! I just luv Indian food & to be able to buy a quick tasty Indian wrap is my idea of heaven! So I'm hoping they were having an off day.....
