The fusion restaurant I didn't realise I needed in my life. The curried lentils and black beans are a MUST!

I love empanadas. These ones are almost half the size of my face (that's big). I was at a Yelp event and the owner Jackie brought these in as the after-event treat. She definitely has a passion for the food she makes. Everything she makes is from scratch and from her heart. You can taste it in her food. I tried the pork empanada and a different one I can't remember the flavor. Really flavorful, essentially you're eating Indian food with a Mexican twist. It's a really smart idea. And like I said, they're pretty big, so 2 is good for me. I would return during their normal business hours and I'll bring my partner so he can experience these awesome empanadas filled with love. So far this business is only open M-F from 7a-3p, but the owner is thinking of adding dinner service and weekend hours. Hopefully that happens because I would be the first to a weekend open and first to a dinner service. read more

The food here is AMAZING - every bite delicious - but customer service is not so great. You can stand at the counter being ignored for up to 10 minutes while staff chat with each other right in front of you. Hello! Then there's communication between the kitchen and the front of the house, which is fragmented at best. I paid for and was waiting for a sweet empanada that was not ready when I first arrived, but my order was forgotten and when I asked about it I was told there were no more apple empanadas because another staff person had "given them away." Disappointing! If they straighten out their service kinks this would be a full-on 5-star experience! read more

we ordered these empanadas for takeout, and were so happy we did! the pastry dough was so delicious and flakey, and each flavor we got was great. they have lots of veggie and non-veggie options, making it perfect for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! they also had tons of sauce options to choose from, so it was fun to try a lot of different flavors. would definitely recommend, and can't wait to try more of what they have to offer! read more

I stopped in here for lunch and looooved it :) I had the butter chicken empanada with tikka masala, beans, rice, and salad. The empanada was crispy and flaky and buttery goodness filled with a delicious savory chicken filling. There's a spicy "warning" on it but I found it on point. It went perfect with the tikka masala sauce which was also spiced to perfection. Now, I love me some beans and rice, and I was skeptical of their lentils at first, but I'm converted now! They were smooth and creamy and paired excellently with the rice, which was cooked perfectly. The salad was a nice cooling crunchy tangy side to compliment everything. The restaurant itself is brand new and the style matches the fusion food well. It's bright and airy and clean. Service was friendly and fast! My only problem was I should have got more because it was so good! I will be back for sure. read more

We tried quite a few items from Bombole today - some were delicious and I will get them again & again. Others were too salty or a flavor I just didn't love. So the amazing ones: Pasty Empanada(potato & cheese) and Guava Cheese Sweet Empanada. The crust on these is fantastic, flaky, buttery and sooo well done. The fillings on both are so flavorful, nostalgic and lovely. So good that I'm happily giving Bombole 5 stars for those items alone. The not great items: The lentil soup was way too salty for me and the spinach mushroom empanada had an unusual flavor - it would probably have tasted better with a creamy sauce like the cilantro, but they were sold out. Also the paneer empanada had way too many peas, it overpowered the paneer and the spices which were good but again, overpowered. Next time I'm in the area I will definitely pick up some pasty's and guava cheese! read more

I ordered through Grubhub for curbside pickup, and even though I couldn't park in their designated spots for curbside pickup, they still brought it to me a bit further down the street! My order was ready very quickly, and the person I talked to was really friendly. I got the combo with one curry pork empanada, tikka masala sauce, rice, and curried lentils, plus a cup of iced chai. The empanada was probably one of the best things I've ever eaten- it's the perfect comfort food in my opinion, plus it's an easy handheld meal on its own! The crust was soft and flaky with just a little bit of crunch for texture, and the filling inside was packed full of flavor. The empanadas are a pretty good size, so one was plenty for me. The lentils and rice really rounded out the meal and each had tons of flavor on their own, but next time I'll definitely check out the other sides too. read more

WOW! Stopped in here for the first time today and I can't believe I haven't been here before now! I had two empanadas - a spinach/feta one and the paneer (both vegetarian!) and they were delicious! The pastry crust was incredibly flaky and the fillings were very flavorful! The sauces made them even better. Overall, the food was very filling and reasonably priced. We got a chicken The Bombo' Combo' for around $14 which comes with two sides (we got Basmati Rice & Honduran Cabbage Slaw). We also ordered another feta empanada $6 based on an employees recommendation. For sauces we got Tikka Masala and Cilantro Sauce, we really liked the Tikka Masala with the chicken empanada. The chicken empanada was a little spicy, but really good. We took ours to-go but it had seating indoor and outdoor as well. Would definitely stop here again if we're in the area! read more

These empanadas were so good because they reminded me of my childhood and I loved the fact I could buy some frozen, take home and pop in the over for a quick dinner. Wow! I'm so glad I dropped into this local downtown gem. This latin-indian fusion was delicious to explore. I ordered the fiesta and the spinach and feta empanada. The spinach was so salty that I couldn't eat it mind you I love salt ! The fiesta empanada was a taste explosion so good the dough on these empanadas melts in you mouth so light and flaky . I've been curious about this Indian Honduran fusion. I decided to try the lunch special which comes with an empanada with two sides (rice, daal, or slaw) and your choice of tea (Chai, oolong, or black). For the empanada I got a samosa, for the sides I got daal and slaw, and for the tea I got Chai. My favorite part of this meal was the samosa empanada for sure. It was packed with flavor and tasted extra good with the mint chutney (they also have a cilantro chutney which I did not try). The daal felt like it was missing something (maybe a little salt), as did the slaw (more acidity!). One point of I need to make in this review - I want more Honduran options. As a catracha, slaw doesn't suffice enough (for me personally) to label this place "Honduran". Give me baleadas, give me plátanos rellenos or even a pupusa. Chimol or culantro (instead of cilantro) if you really wanna get real. My heart was legit broken when I found out the only "Honduran" place in town only served a slaw :( Also would like to mention the super patient staff member who helped me with all my questions and order - he was so nice and friendly! Overall, I was mainly impressed with the empanada. I'll come back when I see more comida hondureña in the menu ;P read more

This place is SO GOOD. I've only had the empanadas but they have all been AMAZING. I'm Indian, and I tend to have super high standards for Indian food, especially for any kind of Indian fusion, but Bombolé is wonderful! And the chutneys are awesome. We are a little sad that the hours are still limited; I've never actually been inside but I'm looking forward to coming on a day off work or when their hours are extended. read more

This place is a simple concept which is extremely well executed... South American style empanadas featuring feelings from the Indian subcontinent. My husband ordered from here on Grub Hub today. It was our first time eating Bombolé and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! We had the chorizo empanada, fiesta empanada and the guava and apple empanadas for dessert. It was still warm when it arrived and the dipping sauces were so flavorful. This review is based on my order today and my order from last week. This 3 star rating is based on the empanadas and packaging for delivery. There's good and there's not so good. First...the packaging when getting a delivery. They put a sticker around the tie and it's impossible to peel off. I had to use a scissors. The knot is pulled so tight that I had to cut off the knot...destroying the plastic bag just to get access to the boxes that held the empanadas. This might be okay for some but as a senior it makes it so difficult for me to open the bag and then you have to use another bag to throw away the empty boxes. It's wasteful but not a deal breaker from ordering again. The boxes that the empanadas come in are hard to close if you want to save some items to eat later but they are made from recycled materials so that is one plus on the packaging. The items I had issues with were the pizza empanada and the feta and spinach empanada. At first bite the pizza empanada tasted good but then there was a strange after taste. I took a couple more bites and the after taste was still there. It's the cheese. It doesn't taste like mozzarella cheese. Perhaps they did use mozzarella cheese but it had gone bad or they had it sitting out too long. I couldn't finish it...that's how bad it was. Won't be ordering that again. I called Bombole to find out what cheese they used and per Valentina they use mozzarella. I asked to speak with the manager to get a little more info because maybe it was a mozzarella blend? Valentina said the manager would call me back. Hopefully they will call me back today. After that I had to cleanse my palate and I had a few bites of the fiesta empanada. We'll get to fiesta empanada in a bit. So after the palate was cleansed I tried the feta and spinach empanada which was a lot better than the pizza. Sure, they're totally different flavors but at least I could eat this one. There was a lot of feta in it though. It sort of overpowered the other flavors but it was okay. The fiesta empanada and the spinach and mushroom were very good. The spinach and mushroom is a bit spicy but I was totally able to eat it. The fiesta empanada was supposed to have chicken in it but there wasn't that much in there. Still very tasty and I'd order it again. Last week I had ordered the matar paneer, pasty, spinach/mushroom and apple empanadas. The ratio of the peas in the matar paneer was staggering. Way too many peas and not enough cheese. The pasty was delicious and well seasoned. I've already gone over the spinach/mushroom and it was the same last week as it was today. Now the apple empanada was fabulous, like a warm apple pie. Remember those warm apple pies from McDonald's before they decided to bake them? Well, this is so much better that that! The portion sizes on all the empanadas are quite large and the dough is flaky. Two empanadas fill me up and that's saying something because I can eat a lot. So after careful review I would order again but definitely not the pizza empanada. I mean, not unless they figure out and correct what their doing wrong with the cheese. read more

Oh Bombolé, you're my new crush. The marriage of a South American pastry with Indian spices and curry, is innovative and complementary. Try the pork and chicken empanadas with the tikka masala and mint chutney if you're a carnivore. They have vegetarian options as well. Pair the meal off with one of their teas if you order the Bombo combo. The seating is casual in a small clean space. My only grievance? Limited lunch hours on weekdays, not open on weekends. However the very sweet owner says she is looking into expanding their hours and they do cater if you speak to her in person. read more

Both times the daily combo has been delicious, with the staff making spot-on recommendations for which chutney to pair with the empanada. I've gone a few times now and the Workers are very nice and provide great service. The food is always fresh. The sauces are the best part!!! Cilantro lime is to die for. This fusion of Indian and Honduran food really works! From a full block away you're enticed by the amazing aromas of Indian spices, and when you you get inside the aromas are even more amazing. My husband and I got the aloo gobi, butter chicken and pork empanadas. SOOO YUMMY!!! They also give you chutneys with the empanadas which compliment the flavours perfectly. I am a nurse at the VA and this wonderful local business donated free catered food to the staff here for lunch. This was such a wonderful fusion lunch that felt more Honduran that than Indian but still carried some subtle Indian flavors that really made it special. Mine was made with paneer and was adorably stamped on the crust to let you know what you were eating!
