I don't want to get into the whole scenario here but the transaction was tagged "between friends/family" and so therefore I have no recourse. I don't think this is an ethical practice for a service provider and I would like very much to have a resolution. If there is an owner to this salon, please get back to me; or I would like to minimally get a partial refund from the service provider. I have already tried to get in again to give the hairdresser a chance to fix this matter, but the answer I received was "I would be better served elsewhere". Unbelievably unprofessional. read more

Kayla is fantastic! She is an expert at cutting short styles, which many stylists are not. She listens to what I want, and I have never been disappointed. I love the Aveda aromatherapy intro and the relaxing scalp massage. I appreciate, too, that she never pushes products like some other stylists I've seen in the past. If I'm interested in something she's used, I ask. I've been going to Kayla for 2 or 3 years, and I highly recommend her. She's consistent, kind, and very talented. Beware of Barb. I went in with grown out blonde hair looking to go to my natural hair color of light brown. I wrote out what i wanted when I booked my appointment and then came to my appointment with photos. I left with black hair and extremely disappointed. I called the salon the next day and explained the situation. The lady on the phone was awesome and they got me in to try and fix the mess. The girl Becca who tried to correct my hair was super sweet and did her best, but I am still much darker than what I wanted. This should've been an easy job. I will now have to pay even more to get the results I originally wanted. Be careful who you book with and be thorough in your explanation. read more

I had an amazing appointment with Barb! I'm not from the area, but, desperately needed a trim and I don't think I've had a haircut this good in years. Barb gave me a lot of great information on caring for my hair. I really appreciated her honesty. Rather than just cut my hair and send me on my way, she actually educated me on how to properly care for my very damaged/bleached hair. I have been a loyal Aveda supporter for many years in different towns and states over the years. The Treasure Valley is fortunate that there are a number of Aveda salons to choose from. However when a cancellation at my usual Aveda salon set me in a search of a new appointment elsewhere I hoped to find a great alternative...little did I know what I was in for in a little house off State Street in Becca's chair. A welcoming smile, an amazing I mean an amazing salon (with history and authentic style) and a fantabulous stylist...Becca. I didn't just receive a thorough consultation it was a sincere and fun experience. By the end of my service (which started and ended right on time) I was asking if I could come back and Becca thankfully said yes. I was thrilled with my cut and color! I left telling Becca sometimes things happen for reasons and what concerned me about having to deviate from my Aveda norm lead me to a happy new beginning at this salon. I've been here a few times and it's always one of those uncomfortable hair experiences where a condescending stylist reprimands you for whatever you've done to your hair outside of their specific brand of products (which is Aveda FYI, so do not come in asking for anything that Aveda doesn't carry). Today was the worst though... I called yesterday, described exactly what I wanted to some girl on the phone, and was told that a stylist had a big window of time open in which she booked me for an appointment. Then I got there today for my appointment, described exactly the same thing to the stylist, and was informed that she didn't have time to do that within this appointment but I could come back the next day. Like, no thanks... Why wasn't I booked for a longer appointment for the style I had actually asked for within this huge window of time?? I will never know. But I'll be taking my time, money, & non-Aveda treated hair elsewhere. read more

First time in for color and I was set up with Barb. AMAZING! She's a a total pro. I don't have easy hair and was hesitant coming in without any recommendation. I was in Boise for work and desperately needed color. I'm also really fussy - I should mention that. But she really knows what she's doing and delivered perfect results. She also noted my hair had some uneven ends and needed texturizing in a few places and took care of that while I was in her chair. I think she might be a perfectionist and works from a place of passion. Awesome blowout (which by the way - is much harder to get then one might think!). I went to Danielle broken hearted, and broken spirited and feeling like a pile of garbage. I took a pic of my neon yellow, green, and blue, hair and had sent it to a stylist with some rando salon on Hill Rd. and she refused to take me, even though I told her I was open to a long list of options. This woman I spoke to got me in the sensitive spot,as my hair has always been an insecurity. I have naturally curly hair. It has ALWAYS looked frizzy. It has ALWAYS looked damaged. It has ALWAYS, through my life, been MY hair. I accepted the fact it will never be long, straight, thick,or look like it belongs on a really hot stripper. I work with what I have, and that's all I can do. and self love tells me I should tell others to eat socks that don't like it or try to make me feel less than, for being something I will never be. I came to Danielle with neon green and blue and yellow hair. It was super fun and I had got it done in Portland. Unfortunately, my wardrobe and makeup did not pair well with it, and I had to wear wigs lots during having my majestic fanstasy color time, plus, being an entertainer, and having shows coming up, I needed to change it up. Danielle busted her ass, gave me total honesty in that she wasn't sure how the colors would pull out, but promised ( and delivered) that I would leave the salon with pretty hairs. She is a total perfectionist, and we dyed it dark (b/c green and blue REALLY like my hair and throw fits leaving), and it was a gorgeous chestnut-y dark brown. I never thought I'd enjoy being a brunette, but it was a move I'd been ready for, for a long time, and it was really pretty. Because my hair had been blonde for years ( possibly a decade even?), I was worried about it washing out pretty quick or fading out in an unflattering way, but the color she used ended up washing out in flattering almost red-y tones. I am seriously worlds worst client ( I am SO fucking picky and SUCH a C U Next Thurs. about my hair), but as a PICKY Virgo perfectionist, you are in good hands with this ass busting perfectionist. Bombshell is also easy to find, on State St., across from West Side drive in, with a large parking lot, and the rest of the staff seemed friendly and pretty cool too. Plus, Aveda products are SO awesome, and my hair smelled of fragrant sandalwood? i think? after. mmmmm...... and after you treat yo self to a hair cut and color, go next door to one of the most fabulous vintage clothing stores in Boise, In Retrospect, and purchase, creep on, and/or drool over some of their fabulous clothing. I am new to Boise and asked around for hair stylist referrals. Barb at Bombshell came highly recommended by a gal with great hair so I went for it. It was super easy to schedule an appointment both online or over the phone and the salon is convenient to get to with easy parking in their lot right next to the salon. Barb is easy to talk to, a great listener and is not afraid to make suggestions if you need a little help deciding what to do with your hair style or color. See my previous two reviews; I was struggling to find a place to thread my brows. When I called this salon, not only did I get a live person to pick up the phone, she was extremely helpful. Thanks Eliza! She didn't have any openings, but she suggested another option (which I had already tried) and then she offered to check in with the owner and call me back, if the owner was able to come in 15 minutes early and squeeze me in before her first official appointment. I was grateful for the offer and elated they were able to accommodate me at the last minute. The next morning I was at a very vibrant blue salon and the owner, Danielle, was very nice to chat with during my appointment. She says she actually trained the girls at Euphoria and gave me insight to the local threading landscape. I look forward to visiting Bombshell again soon! read more

One star is way to flattering for my experience! The first time I went to the salon the stylist gave me a great cut and color so I over looked leaving with damp and unstyled hair. I returned for a touchup and that's where my journey to hair hell began!!!! When I went to get a touch up I noticed that she was doing NOTHING like the time before. As I'm sitting in her chair, I'm noticing how dark the color was on my scalp. I expressed my concerned and she said it won't come out dark - well yes it did. After finished I told her that I did not like it and it was not what I wanted. She told me to come back the following day to fix. I left again with damp hair along with, hair dye on my forehead and a bunch of product that left a goopy mess along my hair line- and most of all pissed that I was going to have go back and sit for another 2 1/2 hrs!!!! I went back the next day and I am regretting it. My hair is now a orangey and brassy color that doesn't blend with the rest of my hair- I really wish I could attach a picture to show this monstrosity that I have!!! But I did walk away with my hair dry, after asking if there is an additional charge for drying hair. Really quickly let me touch on the cut...the hair framing my face wasn't even but after her third attempt that was corrected!! The prices of the salon are high and for the quality I received it amazes me that they are still in business. Paying high dollar to walk away with damp hair, dye left on your head, gunk in the back of your head and a uneven hair cut is ridiculous to say the least. I was almost in tears as I walked into another salon to see if this could be corrected. The orangey brassy color was confirmed by three hairstylist. This is the worse experience I have ever received. I can confidently say that this hairstylist does not take pride in her work or respect her clients. Actions speak louder than words!!!! The thing that irks me the most is that she got paid for this service!!!! Be careful if you choose to go to this salon it might be a $200 mistake along with the headache of getting it fixed!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Left gunk in my hair along with colour still in my hair. She's a great gal but definitely not 5 yrs experienced as she said. I was truly excited about going to get my hair done. So this is my story and will try to keep it short. I finally found a salon that listened to me and actually cut & colored my hair they way I liked it, until recently. I am not sure what happened and why my stylist competence has gone out the window but it has. I tip fairly well, I am on time and I don't ask for something impossible to do. Recent trip, color roots and trim on short, naturally curly hair with a lot of white coming in around face. I usually cannot really see the end results until after I wash and style it myself so did not notice that the entire line around my face did not get colored and there was a HUGE mistake in cutting my hair. My co-workers noticed on Monday and asked if I had tried to cut it myself. I took scissors to it and fixed the best that I could for now. I had a rather important event next week and really needed to look my best but I do not and I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED. Well, not going back. I don't have the time to run back to Boise to have it fixed and really, after several months of doing my hair, i should not need to go back for a fix every time. I don't really understand what is happening here. I scheduled an appointment with the owner of the salon online, and when I showed up for my appointment she was getting her hair done. I had looked forward to this haircut for a few weeks, and was looking forward to having someone work on a really nice style for me. Talk about crushing a guys hopes. I ended up getting the hair cut for free, but just felt that the stylist / owner of shop was not available to give me a good haircut, much less a unique style. She blamed the incident on the computer, but I don't really believe that, it seems that the computer booking system was working just fine, and nobody could find a mistake. They also didn't have hot water. I think this salon has good potential, but the owner might be losing interest in managing it well. It is really uncool when you schedule an appointment and they don't keep it and aren't accountable. read more
