    Trinity Meadows

Right on Coffee Creek and near the North Fork of the Trinity River, these resort cabins feature a smoke free environment nestled among cooling trees, featuring horse shoes, hammock, ping pong, and cooling swimming in the Creek. Wine Tasting is available at near by Alpine Cellars where you can sit beneath a pear tree sipping the local wines that are quite good and have a picnic. This whole area was a significant part of the California Gold rush with tailings that still line the north shore of the Claire Engle (Trinity Lake). Summer reservations are by the week and oddly, the week always goes by too fast. The family has been coming back year after year. We generally rent from one to three cabins. For most, this is a remote destination where due to light pressure; the fishing is still excellent for small rainbows, and brown trout. Larger fish can be found in the Trinity Lake. River temperature is about 60F in the summer, while the lake is much warmer. Cabins are fully equipped, which means less fuss and muss. This is a good spot from which to investigate the Pacific Crest Trail and the many lakes that surround. Best dry flies for the rivers and creeks are a size 16 Royal Coachman, 16 Adams, and size 14 caddis dry, best wet fly is a size 14 brassie. Use of very light gear is absolute. Dry fly lines number 2 or smaller. Average cast required 20 feet maximum. Buy supplies at Coffee Creek Store. Brian and Mary Bogdanich ran the place when we were there are very nice and children friendly. Most highly reccomended. The Trinity River Cotton Candied clouded, Willow and pine shrouded, gurgles a honored gray glide, with many a fair trout to hide. A bird sang and the butterfly flew, the cresting sun poked through. A flurry white perched on the flow, the fish rose to sip the show. A memorable morning on a steam Was an answer to a dream.

Mary and Brian talent to decorate and building the resort it's amazing

And the food - go Friday nights for the biggest, juiciest ribeye steak you've ever had, along with amazing, delicious side dishes! But prepare yourself for a one-hour drive up a long, bumpy dirt road to get there - but it's well worth it!

All the other reviews (thus far every one 5 stars) are true and on point. There is no hyperbole and…read morethere is no way I can describe Mountain Meadow adequately. So let me take another tack and make sure that this is the place for you. First off, Mountain Meadow Resort isn't for everyone. If you can't be unplugged and off the grid, this place isn't for you. Seriously, there is no wi-fi, your smartphones are only useful as cameras because there is no cell signal, and the generator that provides electricity only runs from 6:30am to 11pm. Bookings typically go from Saturday to Saturday so if the prospect of not being able to check your texts, voicemail, e-mail and social media for a week gives you the heebee jeebees, then this place is not for you. Second, this place is remote. The resort is most definitely in the WILDerness. In the four years that I've gone I've come across black bears and been within spitting distance of a rattle snake, rattle going off, coiling and ready to strike. The nearest medical facility is 2 hours away by car. And that's not counting the fact that you could be half a dozen miles into a hike away from the resort and your parked car when you get injured. If that seems a bit too off the beaten track for you, then this place is not for you. ...Still reading? Then you must be adequately intrigued as to why people go and keep coming back to this wonderful place. And if the you're not scared off then you will likely fall in love with this place as I have. Read on if you want my attempt to add information you might be hoping to gleam from reading these reviews. This is a family run camp. Decades ago a group of families bought the place and ran it together. Their children now run the resort and while you're there you'll likely see the next generation starting to help out as well. Staff all have a direct connection to the resort via family, being visitors in years past themselves when they were younger, or being recruited by one of the first two categories. What that means is that your initial visit feels like you're an interloper at a family reunion, but on repeated trips you begin to feel that you too are part of the family, because you truly are. That sentiment permeates through and is felt not just by my wife and me but by my kids as well. I would love it if my kids worked here when they're older and if I could spend extended time helping out after I retire, whenever that is. Days can be spent on hikes, strenuous or relaxing. Obviously the former will reward you with amazing views. Unlike, say Yosemite, you could do your whole hike and never come across another group. If you do, it certainly will only be a handful. There are lakes to swim in and vistas to take in. The resort is positioned so that you can make a day hike where others will often have to backpack in and out. Sometimes you'll be tempted to backpack yourself and maybe stay over a night or two but what always draws me back is the food - homemade and delicious. Dinners are amazing. Lastly, the kids love it because of the independence and being outdoors. The "kids dinner" before the "adult one" is as much a highlight for the parents as it is the kids. More importantly my tech savvy kids being raised in the heart of Silicon Valley have no qualms with Mountain Meadow being a "screen free" place. And that alone makes our annual trip worth it.

The staff were friendly and the entire check in process was easy. For the price, we got an individual tiny cabin with two bedrooms and a bath. It came with a simple kitchen and an awesome patio overlooking the, unfortunately, near empty lake. The staff informed us that the lake had been drained to help fight recent California wildfires, so that made me feel a little bit better. Anyways, the cabin was clean and everything you would need for a nice relaxing stay. My biggest qualm was that the hot water did not work so we were not able to take a shower (unless it was ice water cold). And the Internet did not work - not for browsing or streaming pleasure but simply for cell phone service in such a remote area. All in all, a decent spot to stay in the Shasta Lake area.

The wedding was hosted across the street at the golf course and my suggestion to the person who organizes both of these venues. I think you should offer golf cart transportation between the resort and the golf course. That would prevent a lot of people from taking the chance and driving that short distance while intoxicated. I noticed this first hand on several of our party goers. We had a beautiful cabin that was not on the lake, but close enough to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. I see a lot of reviews had a problem with cleanliness and honestly, we did walk in to a musty smelling cabin and dead, flying things all in the bathroom, but after doing a black light inspection of the mattress, I was reasonably assured that bedbugs would not be an issue. To me that's a big one. I highly recommend this location if you're planning a wedding at the golf course.

The location has potential, but our stay was highly disappointing…read more First and foremost, the checkout policy requires guests to wash all dishes prior to checking out. This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. If they do not reclean them, then the health and safety of incoming guests relies entirely on the honor system and the cleaning habits of previous occupants. It is incredibly unsettling to think the dishes we used may not have been professionally washed or sanitized. The cabin itself clearly got a "landlord special" French doors were stuck and wouldnt open. Had to call maintenance to get them fixed. The refrigerator and cabinet drawers overlap so tightly that opening the fridge makes the drawers to open, and vice versa. The fridge door is already dented, clearly from this problem. The blinds are old, broken, and don't close all the way. So we had to wake up with the sun every morning, spiderwebs in the ceiling corners throughout the cabin. For the price charged to stay here, guests should at least be guaranteed professional cleanliness. Unfortunately, this property missed the mark on all counts.
