The service was ok just ok though nothing fancy about this place to be honest they have the same food as they did 40 years ago. Salad bar looked sadly bare and what was there had been there a couple days looked like. Had to send my steak back it was raw I like mine medium rare. The first steak was supposed to have been an 8 oz sirloin came out as a 4 oz from the looks of it my husband's steak was passable. They brought me a whole different steak which was better but seriously let's get real here the food was just SUBPAR wouldn't recommend unless I have family that comes in from a state that doesn't have a bonanza or they have never ate at a bonanza so I tell them before we go to not be disappointed in the food cause I dine warned them of it. read more

Friday, April 19th, 2024 dinner party of 3 Private parking lot, no wait, hostess was friendly and pleasant, the buffet didn't look inviting, I witnessed the cooks without gloves, hair or beard nets, one cook coughed on his left hand and continued cooking, the floor of the entry, buffet and seating areas were dirty, there was a hair in my food that wasn't mine, almost everything wasn't seasoned nor cooked properly like the chicken (wasn't fried chicken) Meat loaf, pulled pork, hush puppies were passable I don't know how this restaurant passes any inspections We were sadly disappointed and won't be returning unfortunately read more

Stopped here with the family on the way back home to LA from WV. I hadn't experienced Bonanza in over 30 years and they didn't disappoint. Wasn't a fan of this place. The price was very similar to Golden Corral with blows Bonanza out of the water. It was a Monday night all the food was old everything was dry and tasteless. The rolls and salad was the best part, maybe because they don't have to cook it. Avoid the chicken tender meal, it is flat processed chicken pieces, very dry. Pricing... Based on what I've seen you might as well buy dinner to get something different since you still get the buffet with every entrée. Haven't had a Bonanza in years until we stumbled across this one. Every time we eat there it's always been an amazing experience. The only downside to it is that the buffet has always got the same stuff on it except for on Saturday's which was breakfast the last time we were there. My steak was cooked perfectly. The old time salad bar is always a hit with me. The restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly. It is worth the 20 minute ride off of I-81 if you are in the area. Small town location and feel. A great change from the hustle and bustle of the Baltimore Metro area. I wish there were more Bonanza's/Ponderosa's around. Simple food at a fair price. read more

This used to be my favorite place to eat but the last 3 times (keep having hope) I've eaten here it's gross and disgusting. At least the bar is. They freeze the veggies so the lettuce and cucumbers especially are wilted and freezer burnt and slimy. The rolls are hard. The corn is chewy and tough. It's just a complete disappointment. Food bar here is much better than most food bars at comparable restaurants. And, the restaurant seems clean every time I am there. The fried chicken is really tasty and the yeast rolls are amazing. My favorite part of the meal is always the soft serve ice cream. I wish I had a machine like that in my own kitchen. Imagine being able to get this soft serve twist anytime you want it at home. Despite the fact that I would weigh 500 pounds, it sure would make me happy. And, I could have incredible ice cream parties. I have family in Lebanon and visit this restaurant every few months. I have relatives who have told me for years to try this place. I hadn't eaten at a Bonanza since I was a kid, as I guess most of them are gone, so I really looked forward to it. What a letdown. The main attraction here has been said to be the buffet / bar. I'm just glad I also got a steak with it. Everything I tried on the vegetables and meat bar was cold. The salad bar looked appetizing from a distance, but once I started filling my plate it was quite obvious all ingredients had been sitting out for many hours, as they were all dried out. When dessert time came, there were only three very thin slices of some white cheesecake type of pie. I got one. Another in my party decided to wait on them to refresh the desert section with, well, something. Never happened. They did have cookies, which we both got a few of. Not good. Left them on the plate (a first for me). Ice cream machine wasn't working properly...ice cream came out half melted. All in all nothing was good except for the piece of steak - which was OK but really thin. Dinner cost was over $20 per person. For half this cost we could have eaten at a dozen Tri Cities locations that are stellar...or to look at it another way for $5 or $10 more we could have eaten at a relatively fancy restaurant. We go once a week, and I always like it. The salad bar is large, never wilted, with multiple types of salad. The entree food I go for is usually meatloaf or fried chicken, and while not as good as momma's, it's on par with any other buffet I've been to. A really good desert bar with multiple types of cobbler, cake, an ice cream machine, etc. Kids eat free Monday and Tuesday nights, and you can't beat that with a stick. Seat yourself in the main room, because waitresses get busy and it's tough for them to make it to the back rooms sometimes. I recommend, especially since it's the only place to get ribs (great) or a steak for like 50 miles. Any entree ($13-17 usually) includes full buffet or you can purchase the Buffett alone for like $12. Get a good entree to go, eat up on the good buffet, and you'll have 2 great meals (steak, ribs, shrimp, etc) for around $7-9 each. read more

Grew up with a Bonanza in Rocky Mount, NC. There are only a handful of these places left in the US so I stopped here strictly out of nostalgia. Food was good - not great but good. I got a Garlic & Pepper seasoned ribeye (less than a 1/2" thick) that was tasty but not "mmmm-mmmm great". Baked potato was just potato (not complaining). The "bar" had a really nice salad station and lots of pudding. All kinds of pudding. They like their pudding it seems. Server was ok - but not the friendliest. No clue we were from out of town and she didn't even try to engage us in conversation. Again - I was here to relive a memory - I spent $20 on myself for a decent meal and that memory has been served. Tried it again, this time with my family. The steak was much better this time around but the bar was as usual bland and lacking in any flavor. The waitresses while usually quite friendly must have been having a horrible day because they weren't at all this time. Overall the experience was only average and the prices are still steep compared to other steakhouses within 30 miles. Honestly, the reason it's getting two stars is I approached the wrong side for the restrooms only to have a waitress tell me other side, start laughing loudly and telling another waitress what I did. I ordered 5 oz sirloin medium rare and three times it came back medium and had to get my money back. Waitress said only ribeye comes out bloody. Have to go to register to get my money back, why? I am only rating it a 1 because the food was ok. The service was nonexistant. Waited to pay for 15 minutes with no one else in line and 2 staff members at the register who were too busy complaining about the other staff to bother waiting on us. After finally ordering, waited another 15 minutes with no waitress so I helped myself to the drink fountain in the employee area and located some silverware. If today wasn't a holiday and this the only other restraunt besides fast food open, I would have just left. Will NEVER return. I have written this review and still no sight of a waitress. read more
