I've eaten at Buddy's years ago, and it felt a lot less like the chain it is today. I got the Trio, and the Chicken was way too dry. The Pulled Pork was okay, and the ribs were the best of the three. The hush puppies are very good, and my 2 sides were okay. The service was fast and helpful. I especially liked the fresh cut lemon slices. There are plenty of booths, but also tables that can sit groups. Yes, it's gone downhill, but I still prefer it to the other fast food options. read more

The food was hot and fresh. Great tasting BBQ sauce, but the $9.82 price tag on a large beef brisket sandwich left me still hungry. The meat portion was between 3-4 ounces... so I would hate to see the smaller option. Maybe it's just a bigger bun on the large. The meat didn't cover the bun as you can see from the flat sandwich photo that appears to have no meat inside. The brisket was thin shaved, like Arby's but not overly processed like theirs, but also not juicy and delicious like other BBQ joints. Maybe I'll try the pork next time. read more

Today was the first time for hubby and I to try Buddy's bar-b-q. We ordered two plates of the ribs, hushpuppies, fries, potato salad, cookies and lemon pie. Now, the hushpuppies and cookies were good enough, but the rest of our food was quite disappointing. The fries came to us cold. The potato salad and pie were certainly nothing to write home about either. The worst part was the ribs, which had pitifully little meat on them. One of the rib orders didn't even have barbecue sauce! Suffice to say, we feel our money will be better spent on another restaurant, and don't plan on patronizing this one again. read more

It was warm. The seating area was clean. The staff was friendly. The food was so-so. My fries were undercooked and not crispy. I couldn't believe they charged 59 cents per topping on my dawg. We tried but could not figure out how my husband's brisket sandwich, soda and Coke slaw jumped from $9.99 to $12.99? We moved here in May and have had a difficult time finding a place for bbq. When I want bbq, I want bone in chicken not pulled meat. We've tried a few places but almost always find they only offer pulled meat. Right before Thanksgiving we were shopping at the Pinnacle and saw a bbq place. I honestly had given up hope, but really wanted bbq...so we went in and tried it. AMAZING!!!! It was very similar to what we were looking for. I got an entire half chicken dinner with 2 sides (and hush puppies I wasn't expecting) for $9.99! It was everything we wanted and we even went back again yesterday because we enjoyed it so much. The sweet tea is perfect too. Service is rather quick and the ambiance is nice. Both times we have been there the employees are friendly and efficient, and cleaning almost constantly. I really appreciate that. We will be going several times a month now that we've discovered them. Great prices for a family. Tuesdays they offer dinners for $7.99 and Saturdays all you can eat ribs I believe for $12.99 or maybe it's $14.99...anyway go check them out, you won't be disappointed read more

This place is amazing! I could eat it time and time again!!! The brisket is amazing! The ribs and pulled pork are to die for. Green beans were ok, but the mac and cheese,corn and the baked beans were amazing! After the meal I got a Hot Fudge sundae Cake, it was good, but I would've personally wanted more Fudge on it. Nice facility, convenient location, people were nice. The food was TERRIBLE. You can tell it's been under a lamp for hours. Chicken was extremely dry, the skin was rock hard. The ribs had some flavor but were also dry from sitting for so long. The baked potato was extremely old and disappointing. The baked beans were so old that they seemed like they were mashed. We love Buddy's! The pulled pork is delicious, and they have excellent brisket and baked beans. Everything is reasonably priced and comes to you quickly and freshly prepared. Their hot fudge cake and hot fudge sundaes are so good that sometimes we just swing by for dessert! The only reason I'm not giving five stars is that their customer service in the drive-thru is hit-and-miss because sometimes the cashiers seem flustered and stressed. I normally do not review "chain" restaurants, this is a regional chain. What I needed to say was, the service was great. More than friendly and welcoming. The food is standard BBQ fare at a fair price. I had the pulled pork plate, with beans and fries. The pulled pork was flavored great with quite a bit on the plate, adding their BBQ sauce finished it off fine. The beans were what you expect from a chain, flavorful, but not exciting. I was so excited to see there was a Buddy's Bar-b-q in Bristol, Tennessee. I stopped to eat there, and the food was absolutely horrible. The chicken was so dry you couldn't eat it, and the baked beans were so thick not good at all. The staff was not friendly at all and there was no one else in the restaurant and I can see why. Also the atmosphere wasn't good either. I am from Knoxville Tennessee and I have ate at Buddy's barbecue a lot and we really enjoy going on Tuesday night so I really hope that company can get this restaurant straightened out up here in Bristol. We were hoping for a better experience. We ate there on a Saturday afternoon, and I had the beef brisket meal with baked beans, fries, and hush puppies. Wife had the ribs with green beans, fries, and hush puppies. The brisket was okay, but I felt it had quite a bit of gristle/fat for that cut of meat. The ribs were a little tough, and seemed like they had been under a warmer for a while. Fries were fine, and both the baked beans and green beans were satisfactory. The BBQ sauce was flavorful, with both mild and hot available. I was hoping for a vinegar based sauce since it's a BBQ restaurant, but wasn't available. Hush puppies were the best part of the meal. Should be renamed "Bland BBQ" Prices were reasonable, and the selection was fair, but everything lacked in seasoning to the point that you could not tell a difference between the foods. Unfortunately a lot of bbq joints in this area are like this, with very bland and underseasoned foods, and this place is no exception. I will likely try the food again after the crazy crowds calm down to see if their standards improve, but as of right now I'd reccomend for people to go to Bristol BBQ on volunteer or Ridge wood BBQ off the Elizabethton hwy for better food. read more
