Spent $50 on food and it was the worst I've ever had from them. Won't be ordering from them again. When ordering through the app they also have a service fee even for just pickup (not sure if only for this location). I wish I read the other recent reviews before ordering. The flavor is not what it used to be. Wings were overcooked and soggy. The drumsticks had a nasty oil taste that seeped into the actual chicken. For some reason this BonChon isn't as busy as the ones in Centreville, Fairfax, Annandale.. maybe not as many asians in the area? I love BonChon and am always up for some korean wings! I once walked past this restaurant and they were giving away samples! I've never seen a BonChon give away samples. The atmosphere and decor in this restaurant is extremely nice and clean. Recently I placed an order to go and there were about 6-7 of us waiting for to go orders.. but no one was sitting down in the restaurant. I guess people just like bringing the wings home and eating them. Their chicken tastes fresh and light wth extremely and perfect crisp without all the breading. Marry that with pickled radish cubes and sweet pork buns appetizer and you have the perfect meal. You need to take your time and review their menu. Try different flavors and enjoy! I can't really think of anything negative to say. My son is a big fan of Bonchon. I love me some Bonchon, but only when it's done right. This location is right up there with the Centreville location, which is tops in my books in Northern Virginia. I've been to the South Riding location no less than 10 times over the past 4-5 months and the the food is always cooked perfectly and the service is spot-on. Our waiter during most of those visits (Kevin-?) is always smiling and on top of our dining needs. At no time does he let our drinks dry-up! Our favorites are the pork potstickers and the half-half strips (soy garlic & spicy). We enjoy the spicy mayo with fries and the pickled radishes too. Other's that have joined us have spoken highly about the chicken fried rice and bone-in wings. While the South Riding location isn't the closest to my home, it's definitely worth the extra drive. Clean store, easy to park and well staffed. read more

I love Korean fried chicken and I'm always happy whenever I'm in an area that has a Bonchon if there aren't any other places to get Korean fried chicken. We came in here on a Monday night for dinner and had a wonderful dinner. I'm from the west coast and I typically imagine Bonchon as a super busy restaurant where you'll typically have to wait 30 minutes especially if you come in around 7pm like we did. I was very surprised to be able to come in and be immediately seated. The service here was great. The ladies working here were very attentive to our needs and were very patient with the child we brought with us. They were also really good about checking up on us consistently, which is always a plus for me! We ordered takoyaki, seafood fried rice, spicy wings, and popcorn chicken. The takoyaki was good, but a little disappointed that it didn't come with bonito flakes on top. I personally didn't try to the seafood fried rice, but my relative who ordered it really enjoyed it. The spicy wings were just as I expect from any Bonchon, the right amount of kick, crunchy, and nothing short of absolutely delicious! I wasn't too excited about the popcorn chicken, but definitely the perfect order for kids. It's too bad I'm not from the area, I would definitely come back and woildnlove to try all of their other options to see how it compares to Bonchon in California. Our Korean daughter introduced us to Bonchon Chicken several years ago, and it's always our first stop for dinner when we come to visit.   Grandchildren enjoy the soy & garlic boneless chicken and spicy fries.  We go for the spicy drumsticks!  This Bonchon Chicken location has the best Korean fried chicken that we've eaten in the States.  The spicy fried zucchini and salad are OK.  Popcorn shrimp is good, as is the fried rice. There's a selection of other Korean and Asian dishes that we haven't tried yet. Very pleasant staff. Small beer and wine selection -- they have one of my favorite beers, Singha from Thailand. This Bonchon location on a regular basis delivers a good KFC experience, I order a few times a year and I am satisfied. At time there is a bit of wait or delay in the orders, but the good news is that it is freshly fried. This is the second time I have had an issue at this location. Both because of their manager Robin. Today, door dash was honoring the lunch special they have. It was my sons birthday so I decided to come in store instead. They said they don't honor the special on holidays. The location was EMPTY. I showed them door dash and they didn't care to honor it. A few months ago I came here with my wife and found a large hair on one of her wings. I told the manager and his resolution was to replace the single wing only; after we were already done eating. The attitude of the manager was absolutely unacceptable. This is the worst customer service for this location. I didn't make it an issue the first time but the sheer attitude and disregard for customer service and safety (with the hair issue) should be addressed immediately. read more

I don't think we can go back to regular fried chicken or wings after having Bon Chon, wish we had tried it sooner! The outside is amazingly crispy and the inside juicy. The spicy flavor has a great kick to it that lingers and my kids loved the soy garlic sauce drumsticks! We also had their bulgogi bibimbap that was just as delicious. I called in my order for pick up. The gentleman who took my order was really nice and explained the menu for me so I knew exactly what I was ordering. My order was ready in 20 minutes. I've been to a Bonchon chicken in California, and was excited to find that there were even more Bonchon chicken restaurants here in Virginia when we moved here. This place has great specials on Monday and Tuesday evenings if you dine here, so those are great days to come here if you like this place. We came on a Tuesday night and you can get seasoned fries, edamame or shrimp shumai (fried or steamed) with a $20 minimum purchase, or you can get two free things with a $50 purchase. The special starts at 3 pm until close, so you have a while to use the offer during the day. - Chicken Wings / Drumsticks - You can't come to Bonchon and not get the fried chicken, this is what they are known for! The chicken was delicious, hot, and the coating was nice and crispy. We got half spicy, and half garlic soy and the spicy was pretty spicy, so if you don't have a good tolerance for spicy food you may want to stick to just the garlic soy. I liked having the half/half combo of sauces and the portion size of the chicken pieces were large. The small size of the chicken was more than enough for 2 people (we also got the fries and bibimbap) - Seasoned Fries - This was complimentary, and the portion size was huge - you could definitely share this between 2-3 people, maybe even 4. The fries were fresh out of the fryer, super hot, and had a nice coating on the outside so they were crunchy. Some of the better fries I've had in a while. - Bibimbap - We got this with the spicy chicken and the bowl was hot so that the rice got crispy on the bottom and sides, which is how it's supposed to be. It had good flavor, and there was a good amount of chicken and veggies in here. I would get this again. The only cons were that the tables and floors seemed a bit sticky and dirty, and they forgot to bring us water until we had to ask a second time midway through our meal. Overall, great place for chicken and Korean food, especially if you can come on a Monday or Tuesday to take advantage of their specials. I'd come back here! read more

Bonchon has always been one of my family's favorites and to see one open 2 miles away was so exciting. We visited today around 1 pm on a Sunday and it was packed. Thankfully, our party of 4 got seated pretty quickly. At first glance, they have a great variety of menu items besides fried chicken (but let's be real, the wings is what we came for). We ordered a medium soy garlic wings, fried rice, steamed shrimp shumai, and bulgogi. We got the fried rice which was probably my favorite item. It comes with plenty of chicken and the flavor was really good. The shrimp shumai was good, but the sauce had a mustard base, which is different from what I'm used to. The wings were pretty average. The flavor of soy garlic was spot on, but they were small and it didn't have the same crunch of double-fried chicken I've had from other bonchon locations (centreville & fairfax). It was supposed to come with 20 pieces, but we only received 19. We didn't bother asking for another piece as the wait for wings is always long. Lastly, the bulgogi was beyond disappointing. It was bland and the rice was dry (so hard to pick up with a fork!). Fortunately, the manager approached us upon tasting that batch in the kitchen and gave us a $15 gift card for a future visit. I'm not giving up on this bonchon yet. They've only been open a few weeks so I will probably visit again and edit this review. read more

I found the pork belly in the buns were often too dry at this location. I prefer the soft, juicy and fatty pork bellies. Recently the bun size seems to be getting smaller. Chicken is always fantastic. I found out that they had an extremely limited menu for Super Bowl Sunday. I couldn't order the drums, only wings and strips. This place just has the best wings ever! The Soy Garlic wings are just... OMG! They are totally addictive!! Whenever I'm in the area of Sterling Virginia, I have to have them! They are always fried to perfection! The seasoning or marinade or whatever they use, gives them the most amazing flavor! Not overly garlicky like some garlic themed foods can be. They are crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. Just the most mouth satisfying ever! Now, the down side is they don't really come with a reasonable side. So, if you want that, you have to find something else on their menu to add. Honestly, I just do the wings! The other down side is that they are a little expensive for wings. 10 wings will run you close to $14.00. I know In our current wing culture, that's a bit more than most think of paying for wings.
