Wooboi is the best chicken sandwich around! There are plenty of seats inside and it is a comforting place to eat. The staff is quick to get your food out and service is what you expect. The food hits every-time, there will be a wait as it is made to order, but so worth it. Something about the addictive spices, the juiciness of the chicken, and crunch of vegetables make it the best. 5/5 for the hot fresh food, 4/5 for parking and service. Service wasn't particularly bad, it's just that the cashier didn't seem too happy and I could not hear what she was saying. Parking can get hectic, depending on what time you go. It does not have a dedicated lot. As for the food, it came out hot in temperature, and level three and code red was pretty spicy also. So...we looked for a place that was close by with good reviews and came across Wooboi. It had been on my radar for a while. We ordered using Doordash. We each got the entree with 3 chicken pieces. Plus, we also got one order of fries. I liked that we could control how much spice to add or not add any at all. Since it was our first time trying it, we decided to go spice-free. The food arrived in a timely fashion. We were shocked to see just how big the chicken pieces were! The basket-like vessel they used also had a slice of white bread in it and some dill pickle slices. We were both impressed at how tender and moist the meat was. The fries were okay and we admit a little spice on the fries wouldn't have been bad as they were bland otherwise. I was full after eating 2 of my chicken pieces. So, I wrapped up the third piece and put it in the fridge. The chicken tenders were interestingly odd and I felt exactly how you feel reading this ... while they were moist they were almost wet and I couldn't tell if that was from the oil they were slightly coated in on the outside (as though they weren't allowed to drain long enough before being boxed) or if it was because they were marinated well or if it was because they were oily on the inside ... I was perplexed! And the seasoning ... it was interesting ... I can't quite put my finger on what it was seasoned with ... The Mac Salad ... outright wrong! I have no idea what has made people say it was great because there was not a trace of greatness in it. From the outside this place isn't that appealing to look at. Inside it's a few tables and some amazing chicken. First things first, this place is halal and not the "I heard from someone it is" halal. When you walk in there's a certificate on the wall. We ordered two chicken sandwiches, one medium and one hot. The medium was the perfect spice level for me and the hot wasn't too overwhelming either. The breading on the chicken is unlike any other chicken spot I've been to. It's super thick and super crunchy, almost like it's double fried. The fries are a must get too. They are seasoned like crazy and have a big crisp to it. I could've done without the heaping portion of coleslaw but I was able to remove some it. Basically served like the many Nashville Hot Chicken places popping up all around the region. First off, I was hoping for some bone in chicken, which they don't have. That is OK, because I have had some amazing strips at other places. The first strip I had was a bit dry. My wife's was not, so there was a bit of inconsistency. The seasoning on the chicken tasted like it was just straight up chili pepper powder. There was no depth or layer to the flavor. It just wasn't appetizing, it needed something else, some more dimension to the flavor. The fries were good, crispy waffle fries. They were a highlight of the meal. I like Nashville Hot, but I would have to recommend Roaming Rooster if you like this style of chicken. The gal working the cashier helped us get a feel for the understanding of the heat levels and have honest feedback when we asked about the lemonade and if the fries or pickles were better. The chicken is cooked to perfection and the sandwich wasn't too greasy which is always tough when it comes to chicken sandwiches. The comeback sauce is a mayo-based sauce, the same as the dipping saice for the fries and pairs pretty well with the sandwich. Torta (level two) - 5* this was the winner of the night. It looks smaller, which it is, but that's because it's a chicken tender, not a breast, and the price reflects that as well. The last time I visited Wooboi was almost 2 years ago in the Arlington location. My recent visit to this location was just as good as my experience before. They serve one of the best chicken sandwiches in the DMV area. Nothing compares to this place. They don't skimp out on the chicken and its so fresh. It takes some time to work through the parts sticking out of the bun. The chicken is crispy on the outside, and perfectly juicy and tender on the inside. There is a range from 1-6 with 6 being the hottest. I'm not built for that but kudos to those who are. I also ordered some of the waffle fries. Big portion size. I can handle a little spicy but my old lady heartburn has made me taper back a bit on the spice level, so I ordered a level one Sando with a side of waffle fries tossed in level one. Ordered online because I wanted to try this place after hearing so much about it. I ordered the code red (second hottest). I love spicy foods and code red really had a kick to it. I was sweating but was able to eat the whole delicious sandwich. The portions are huge. I felt like my chicken sandwich had two chicken patties in it or something. The macaroni was just ok. Tasted like a cheesy salad. Cole slaw was good and lots of onions in it. The chicken tenders are also huge. The fries were delicious as well but the star is the chicken sandwich. Woo boi is right, this spice level is turned up at this location with a level 2 of 5 being hotter than a jalapeño pepper (per employees). I can not imagine what a 5 star hotness (level blue) would be like. The size of the chicken breast on the sandwiches is huge and justifies the prices and the waffle fries are perfectly cooked. From the second you stepped in, the staff ensured I had an update on my order and tending to other customers. Now, getting to the food. My wife and I are big fans of Nashville-style chicken sandwiches and enjoy the location's variances. What stood out to me were the spices used on the chicken and how moist the fillet was. The taste of the chicken had a little flare to it that I hadn't had before, and each bite was super flavorful. We ordered two different spice levels (Level I & II), and I thought they were both on point. The fries were great as well, and with the comeback sauce, it's super tasty. It was an obnoxiously large piece of chicken with an obscene amount of sauce causing the bun to fall apart before I was half way through with the sandwich. Looking at photos on Yelp of other Nashville style chicken sandwiches, this looked like the best place by far compared to the others in the area near Fairfax. I have to say, this sandwich was pretty good, which is why I'm giving it a 4 star rating. I will explain the reason why below. I ordered the "Sando" which comes with a fried chicken breast, cider slaw, butter pickles, and comeback sauce on a bun. I ordered the level 2 spice level, which I thought was perfect. I typically have a high tolerance for chile spice, but I think a 3 would've been to spicy. A level 3 would have been spicy enough to set my mouth on fire and interfered with my ability to really taste and enjoy the sandwich. Unless you routinely eat habanero chilies like you're eating candy, level 2 is a safe bet and tolerable spice level. First, the chicken breast and sandwich was huge! If you have a big appetite like myself, this will definitely fill you. If you have a small to normal appetite, this could feed 2, maybe even 3 people with smaller appetites, especially if you add fries. The chicken wasn't dry, but wasn't juicy either, and the "comeback" sauce was ok. I felt the seasoning on the chicken was good, but lacking something, maybe a little saltiness. The thing that really made the sandwich stand out to me was the cider slaw and the butter pickles. It mixed really well with the overall flavor of the sandwich and helped to enhance it. In fact, had I known they sold the cider slaw as a side, I would have ordered it. But instead I ordered the macaroni salad, which I will review next. I thought the macaroni salad was terrible. As a matter of fact, it was so bad, I couldn't even force myself to eat it, because I hate throwing away food. The macaroni salad tasted like it was mixed with the butter pickle juice (vinegar) or something like that. The taste was awful! Save your money and don't buy it! The waffles fries were really good. Crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside, and perfectly seasoned. Would definitely order them again. And the 3 tender order at a level 2 spice level. These tenders were massive. Again, could probably feed 2-3 people depending on your appetite. They tasted pretty much like the chicken in the chicken sandwich. My kid devoured 2 of them and expressed how good they were. In conclusion, this chicken sandwich place appears to be one of the best for the area, but unfortunately for this place, I've had really good chicken sandwiches from elsewhere, so when I compare the two, this place gets a 4 star rating. The best chicken sandwich ever!!! Love driving out to Herndon to get their chicken. Their chickens are antibiotic and free ranged and fried in 100% peanut oil. I always get level one (out of 5) their level two is even very spicy for me. Each level is built around different pepper. Level two jalapeno peppers (indian flavor), level three around habanero peppers with Ethiopian kicks, and the code red around ghost peppers, and code blue, you have to sign a waiver form on the wall... with Carolina peppers. I got chicken and waffles, only available on Monday-Thursday. I love their sweet potato fries, shareable portion.
