I've only tried a bite of the chicken and it is good Korean chicken, but my favorites are the bao buns with either the bulgogi or the pork belly and the bulgogi fried rice. The latter is one of my all time favorites from any restaurant, especially with some extra fried egg on it. I'd say the most important thing here is to look beyond the Korean fried chicken. They have so many other great and new (to me at least) items. I mentioned a few favorites. Another interesting one is the Mopo Corndog, mozzarella cheese covered with a breading that includes crunchy potato cubes. It sounds strange but it was really good. It looks like they've expanded their menu since I was there. But the fried rice and bao are just my go to order. I've only had pickup and I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes and the employees are kind. Food is hot and travels well. The only downside is it's a bit expensive, but it's worth it. FYI they don't advertise them but they do sell gift cards, I got one for the whole family last Christmas. It was definitely a favorite gift. read more

I've had two very different experiences here, back to back. Love the storefront so cute. First visit: The restaurant was fairly empty, and the menu looked so good it was honestly hard to choose. I ordered the Seoul Platter with extra wings. The platter included two drums, four wings, pork potstickers, bulgogi fries, and Korean street corn with coleslaw. Service seemed limited (it looked like only two staff members), but the food came out quickly and was excellent. Crispy wings, great flavor, and everything tasted fresh. That first visit left a strong impression. Second visit (the next day): The restaurant was much busier, and unfortunately, the service didn't hold up. I waited about 15 minutes just to be seated and never got the chance to place an order. Eventually, I had to leave, which was disappointing, especially since I enjoyed the food so much the day before. Overall: The food is really good and definitely worth trying, but service consistency needs improvement. We've been getting chicken takeout for years, but this was our first time dining in and we had a delicious lunch! Chicken is still my fav here, but it was fun to try more menu items. Food (4/5) Service (3/5) Ambiance (3/5) Chicken (5/5). A bit pricey for fried chicken but so tasty! I love the extra crunch from the double fried Korean chicken joints. My new fav sauce is the Korean BBQ with a tiny hint of spicyness, but my long time fav was the Soy Garlic. Hubby likes the Spicy sauce that I call "Korean Buffalo". Seasoned French Fries (5/5). We always opt for this when we come for lunch! MoPo Corn Dog (4/5). I love Korean Corn Dogs. It's mozzarella cheese inside with cubes or potatoes in the outer batter. Theirs is just ok, and the price is relatively low, so it's a 4 star in my book. Bulgogi Bibimbap (3/5) not the best Bibimbap I've had, but it was okay. I love Bonchon's chicken, so crispy and the soy garlic sauce... so good. This location is spaced out a bit better for seating vs some of the other locations feel a bit more cramped. My sister and I almost always order the same thing which is the 10 piece wings half spicy, half soy garlic w/ cole slaws for the side, fried rice or the seasoned fries. I love to see that the menu is growing with new options like Korean corn dogs. The staff are usually very attentive and nice. I generally enjoy dining here! read more

Second time coming here in a couple weeks because I couldn't stay away and again I had a great experience! The staff was kind and courteous and even pulled out the chairs for us. The food is super good, the chicken strips might be even better than the regular wings but I can't lie both are phenomenal. The chicken katsu was just as crispy as the wings and the sauces are great on top. Edit: it's been over a week and I have not heard anything. I read in other reviews that they do this. Seriously guys, do not go here. I used to absolutely love this place but they've just gone down hill. I ordered fried rice today and not only does it not look like how it normally does but my container is HALF EMPTY. If I am paying these prices for fried rice I at least expect it to be better filled. This is absolutely ridiculous. I am so upset I had to drive out there only for this. The fried rice is usually very filling and I get to have left overs but obviously not this time. I have tried to go back again again hoping the things that have been happening are flukes but this is honestly my last straw :( BonChon is not worth it anymore. Bonchon never disappoints. Their Korean fried chicken is always elite especially in the soy garlic flavor. ALWAYS sooo crunchy and flavorful. The bulgogi fries weren't my favorite but I still ate them all in one sitting lol. The soy garlic chicken bibimbap was alright but I think it was cause of the change of protein I made for the dish. I remember eating this for the first time at the Mall of America it was crunchy and piping hot and delicious. Went to the Eagan location for late lunch and was expecting the same. Seems the quality of the food is not as good. We got 3 orders of the lunch special (Korean bbq, yangnyeom and spicy flavor) with pickled radish and seasoned fries. The chicken was luke warm and not as flavorful as I remembered. The pickled radish was not marinated long enough, the season fries was awesome. Ran across this lovely gem during a run to a ramen joint down the street. Had to visit once I had the chance. So glad to have a Korean fried chicken joint in the south metro that is not in the MOA. Easy parking, plenty of seating (dining space is larger than other stand alone Bonchon), plus the staff was quick and so friendly. Tried their limited time offer of spicy Korean sauce along with the original spicy sauce. They were very similar in taste (couldn't tell them apart). Still my fav Korean wings. I have ordered Bonchon a handful of times now and the food is always pretty good. I usually get the chicken and some potstickers with a combination of the Soy-Garlic and Spicy flavors on both If you like some actual spice (not Minnesota spice) their spicy is pretty spicy! I like spice so that is terrific but the Soy Garlic is a nice offset with great flavor. I have also tried their Japchae, Shrimp Shumai and Fried rice as well. They were OK as well but the flavor wasn't quite there. The positives are that I love that Bonchon has a nice array of Korean foods that we often don't see around here (like Tteokbokki and Takoyaki) and they have very nice sauce choices that aren't afraid to have flavor. That is all wonderful! The considerations are that the prices are high, and many of the things, while tasty enough, feel mass produced or cooked for high volumes. For example the potstickers are fully fried, not steamed or pan fried. This means they can be hard sometimes. I can't speak to the service or ambiance since I order delivery. So to close, the food is tasty with and the choices are excellent, but it's expensive and the quality is closer to something more mass produced rather than fresh in my opinion. read more

The manager apologized and said he would mop, but didn't come to check on the person who had fallen and also didn't mop the slippery parts of the dining area. Will not return. read more

Oh my gosh! The service and food were excellent! The restaurant was neat and clean, perfect place to meet up with friends. The menu had so many delicious looking items that it was hard to decide what to order. We had to try the wings, which were perfectly cooked. Crispy and excellently seasoned. My friend ordered the BulDak, which was nice and spicy, he thoroughly enjoyed it. The serving was huge. There were enough leftovers for two more meals. I worked remotely while I was in the Twin Cities. It worked out well. One perk about staying in Eagan is being surrounded by a bunch of eateries! I loved looking forward to fetching lunch somewhere. It was enjoyable to take a break, drive to a place, fetch my food, and come back to my hotel room to feast. On Monday, I chose this Bonchon, which is an eatery that does Korean with its own modern twist. Another cool detail was ordering takeout through the GrubHub feature in the Yelp app. It was straightforward looking at reviews, clicking the order button, selecting takeout and my items, and paying. Simple, convenient, and easy. I then casually drove over to Bonchon. It's roughly a five-minute drive from the hotel. I ended up hitting Caribou Coffee first for a drink and then making my way over to Bonchon. There was plenty of parking in front of the eatery. I backed into a spot and waited maybe a couple of minutes until I got word on my phone that my order was ready. I walked in. There were a few folks dining in. The eatery is spacious and looked like a safe place to eat. A nice man at the front counter helped me out. He had my order and handed it over to me. I thanked him and left. I drove back to the hotel and had my lunch there. I ordered the following items: - Potstickers (8) - a split between half spicy and half soy garlic - Japchae My original intention was to get Korean fried chicken because I love it so much. However, what supersedes it in my books is japchae. I absolutely love sweet potato noodles. My theory is that if I like the japchae, I'll likely enjoy everything else that this place has to offer. The japchae was delicious! The chewy noodles were done perfectly. There was beef, carrots, green onions, onions, and a sprinkling of sesame seeds. I ate the whole thing probably more quickly than I had expected. I'd definitely get this dish again. The potstickers were yummy. The wrapper was slightly more doughy than I like, but it was fine. There was a lot of pork filling in each potsticker. The potstickers come in fried only. I was surprised that they were smothered with sauce when I got them, as opposed to having them in separate containers. I guess it saves a bit of container waste. It was great that the box containing the potstickers had a divider. I had a spicy potsticker first. My first bite seemed to not do much. However, a few seconds later, the spiciness creeps up on you and hits you hard. It was pretty fun and unexpected. It does get hot as you go, so I was fortunate to alternate between eating the spicy and soy garlic ones. If you can't take the heat, the soy garlic is excellent. You can taste the soy and garlic. I personally would have liked more garlic to ward of evil spirits, but the sauce was still fantastic in my books. The potstickers run on the expensive side at nearly $11 for eight of them. I still find it worth the splurge, especially if you don't dine here often. There are so many items that I still need to try. Besides the Korean fried chicken, there are Korean tacos and pork buns that look amazing. I also want to give the bibimbap a go. There's nothing like a fried egg on rice and yumminess. We have been to the location at MOA in the past and were excited to see a restaurant location in Eagan! Upon walking in, the atmosphere is nice, restaurant was clean, and service was kind. The menu has a decent variety; mostly Korean dishes with some Japanese and other options mixed in. We got the soy garlic boneless wings which came with a side of radish and the pork buns. Soy garlic wings were delicious! The texture of the breading was definitely a 5 star breading. The wings were well-sauced as well. My only (very minor) complaint was that the wings were a bit too salty; thankfully the side of pickled radish helped cut that in between. The pork buns were also delicious. Not the best pork buns I've had, but definitely super solid and would go back for those. Service was very prompt and friendly and prices were fair. Glad this location opened up in Eagan! read more

I have tried there wings and they are crispy and tasty. They only have two flavors but I love them. They are a bit costly then BDubs but crispier. Live the crispy they have on the wings. They have both wings and boneless wings. They also have drums which are amazing too. There fried rice is good to try too. Chicken tacos are a must try. They are delicious. They even have huge menu to select from. I haven't tried other items but there is always room for some again. They maintain the place well and it's neat and clean. There is finally a place I can go that lives up to "Spicy Chicken" - I ordered the Spicy Chicken fried rice bowl tonight and it brought the heat (actual heat! Not Midwest white people "heat" (and yes I said it)) without killing my palate. I'm in love. The chicken was out of this world, I'm not a big fried chicken person but I'd gladly up my statins to eat this more often. The folks serving us tonight were so sweet, and we got our food really fast. Fantastic WINGS!! Probably my new favorite!!! This was my second trip to this location. It's always been mostly empty which isn't a surprise considering they've only been open for about two months. However, the level of service is still less than professional and doesn't match the quality of the food coming from the kitchen. As a customer I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a fast-casual experience or a tableservice environment. And I think the staff is just as confused. Regardless, the kitchen food quality is top notch!!!! Fast, well-executed, and delicious. Every time. The service staff is horrible! Both visits I have actually had to get up and leave my table to ask for soda refill(s) as everybody seems to be more interested in looking down to whatever is happening on their mobile devices rather than attending to their dining room. Anyone making a trip here MUST ORDER the chicken wings!. It's their specialty and you will be missing out if you don't get the soy garlic. Don't be offended if they don't provide you anything to clean yourself up with. Apparently you are required to use the restroom to take care of that. I ventured out on this second trip and also ordered a few other dishes such as the bibimbap with bulgogi, which had a deep tea infused flavor but was otherwise unimpressive, and the potstickers. The Korean pork and vegetable potstickers came fried and coated in their same soy-garlic sauce. No dipping sauce. The breading on the potstickers was far thicker and more filling than the usual, thinly veiled dumpling one might be accustomed to. Different but good, and definitely with an appeal to the Midwest palate of sweeter and salty, rather than spicy and light. Portions are generous. But their menu doesn't allow you to add extra items to your order unless you order AN ENTIRE entree. That's a fail. Especially for those of us Midwesterners who are new to experimenting with Korean food. I don't need 10 potstickers for $11, but I would gladly pay $5 or 6 as an add-on to accompany my meal as an upgrade over your standard coleslaw. Also, it would be nice to substitute or sample your fried rice to upgrade my meal instead of being forced to pay $12 for a full load of it that I could never possibly devour in one sitting. And despite the fact you have the most delicious sticky wings you can buy, why do you only serve one napkin, and then require ALL customers to use your restroom when they need to clean their fingers???? Due to the inattentive service, I had to use an ice cube from my multiple empty drink glasses to provide adequate moisture to clean my fingers before drying them off with the only disposable napkin i was provided. A moist towelette served with the meal would be appropriate. Overall, the food shows a lot of promise. So disappointed this is my first time going here! Stopped in for lunch and grabbed a eight piece half-and-half chicken wing combo which was not only delicious but crispy and flavorful. The chicken was cooked to perfection still moist on the inside but crunchy on the outside. To a company the wings I have they are crispy season fries and also ordered a lunch fried rice which could've had a little bit more flavor on the meat but still was delicious. EDIT on 04/11/2023: I did what their response asked. I reached out to their customer service team on their website. I don't recall the exact date but it has been over a week. Nothing but crickets. No response to my inquiry. Hmmm. ORIGINAL: I love Korean food. I have been to many Korean places over the years. This was the worst ever. Tasteless. Bland. Dry tough meat. Items missed on the order (take out). No, I will not bother trying them again when there are far better options. The beef bulgogi was tough. Totally bland and tasteless. The scallions were mush. No sesame seeds as advertised. They forgot the rice. Meat was chopped up so small it was not possible to eat with chopsticks. Lots of gristle and fat. The potstickers were over cooked. Tasteless as well. If looking for Korean in this area, look elsewhere. I am not Korean and I cook Korean better than this. read more

While I don't usually review chain restaurants, I'll make an exception for Bonchon...because Bonchon is exceptional. My Korean friends recommended it, so that was a strong enough endorsement for me. Based on the location, I didn't expect to find a spotlessly clean, full-service restaurant with exceptional, well-staffed service. That alone would merit a repeat visit, but the fried chicken...well. That's the star of this show! It's a tossup for me-I love the spicy and the soy garlic equally. But what makes this double battered, juicy chicken even better is the sides. Kimchi and pickled radish are the perfect accompaniment. I think the best way to experience this restaurant is to visit in person, preferably with a couple of other people so you can sample other dishes. The pork buns should not be missed. They're delightfully juicy and messy, but SO worth it. The Korean tacos are amazing, and the sliders are a contender in the chicken sandwich wars. Love the bulgogi, too-huge portion, enough to share. I got the wing drum combo not the spicy one. I got them to go and was a little nervous driving to St. Paul and how they'd hold up, especially in a sauce. I couldn't believe the crunch still in them. Nothing left on the bone when I was done. If I ate in you'd probably hear the crunch outside. The slaw side was generous and pretty good. Service was fabulous. This place is making me miss our Kara even more. I know she'd have an event here. I love plain chicken and am tempted to try them with nothing on them, the hot may be too rich for my blood. They sure looked good on everyone's plates though. They're very busy, but seem to keep up. This is a new favorite for wings, even though I want to try everything else.
