We tried out Bonchon last night. I had heard a lot about this franchise - good things. First, the service was friendly and earnest if somewhat uneven. I think this is just mainly working out the kinks - it's newly opened. The waiter didn't really explain any dishes - that would have helped a little. But he and another server checked in several times, asking how we liked the food and if anyone needed a refill on their drinks. The fried chicken was good. I was a bit disappointed to only see two "flavors": spicy, and soy and garlic. The portions are huge. Much larger than I expected. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or bad. I would have preferred more flavorful and smaller portions. My husband ordered the Chicken Katsu which looked really good (I just had the leftovers - delicious). We also ordered edamame and seasoned fries. Edamame was fresh, bright and delicious. The seasoned fries were kind of disappointing because I was hoping for some variation of kimchi fries (fries topped with kimchi and cheese - it's fantastic). Instead, the fries were not much different from what one gets in any other restaurant. I will be going back to try out the Bulgogi, Japchae and Pork Buns. I'm glad Bonchon came to Crofton. I just wish it were slightly less Americanized - smaller portions, more flavorful seasoning and traditional cabbage kimchi banchan on every table read more

I am so glad that they're open in our area. I try them twice at this location. The rice cake that I uses to eat in Ellicott city is different at this location. I like the clear noodle more than the noodle that they have in Crofton. The fried chicken is too sweet for me. I don't like anything that have sweet in the food. A lot of kinks still to work out. Service was dysfunctional, slow and every order including sides came in shifts. We watched each other eat because no one had a dish at the same time. Seems they were playing the restaurant customers off the carry out. Nonetheless the food was good. They took some items off the charge. Manager came by and was apologetic. Left the waiter a good tip - wasn't his fault. I'd wait awhile till they get the weekend nights normalized in the kitchen or stick to carry out. read more

The majority of the staff is extremely rude and the food is over the top expensive. Wouldn't be surprised if this location goes out of business soon from running customers away. As excited as I was for this location to open I was even more disappointed when it did. The place was clean however the service and quality of food I expect from a Bon Chon was not. The wings are smaller then usually and their salmon avocado ball was not the same as the other ones and it was drenched in mayo. When I went to the bathroom the door knob was broken off from the inside so I was stuck in the bathroom for 5 minutes. They claimed it had just broken that morning but there should have been a sign to notify clients before closing the door... in addition it took my friend's over 30 minutes for them to get their fried rice when the food was claimed to be finished in 10-15 minutes. read more

The last several visits here have been disappointing. They keep precooking the chicken longer and longer. Its probably been sitting there for over an hour waiting to be double cooked. The chicken is dry and not fresh. The orginal Bonchon chicken takes 30 minutes to cook. The chicken comes out in less than 5 to 10 minutes. Other people might like it but I don't mind waiting 20-30 minutes for fresh chicken. For me, it's worth the wait. The batter is rock hard and there is no oil inside left inside the chicken leaving it dry. If you get freshly cooked chicken, it should be piping hot inside. It's been lukewarm inside at best several times. The chicken wrap use to be great but they keep using left over chicken that's rock hard. I guess customer's love speed more than hot fresh wings. The good news is that you don't have to wait long for your food since most is precooked. read more

The service wasn't great . We came in weren't give utensils or table mats . We had to get our own. We ordered our food and waited 15-30 minutes (not busy). A lady came in with her family sat down and got her food after 10 minutes . She had he same exact order as us ! I asked the waitress and she said sometimes it happens that way and shrugged her shoulders . At this point my husband was livid and my kids were crying cause still had no food. Finally food came in 3 parts (why I don't know ) . The service was not good at all ! The food was okay . Chicken was extremely salty ! This is more I've experienced better. Service was good, but food took too long to come out. Maybe there was only one cook hidden back there. Of the four items we ordered the only one I liked the most was the onion rings. I would NOT recommend the Takoyaki, the octopus dumplings the last thing you see inside is octopus. The sesame ginger salad was served only with a bowl full of spinach not with spring mix as shown very pretty in the picture and the salmon if they call that salmon they are in the wrong business or something, it was a small piece of I don't know what but it was dry and overcooked, false advertisement. Heard it was good. Stopped by on the way home from work went and checked it out got the soy garlic wings and drumsticks some white rice and some coleslaw and it comes with pickled radish which was awesome. I will not attempt to describe the coating on the chicken but it was mighty tasty next time I will try the half-and-half which is soy garlic half and spicy half it was good. Also the service was friendly and efficient and the place looked pretty nice although it is brand-new soon they will have a liquor license and will make eating in more desirable. read more

Dined here on Wednesday night. My previous experience was take out. Let's start by saying the food was the same. Tasted amazing. Chicken wings were crispy and tasty. However, the service was shaky. It started off strong, then went downhill. Biggest issue was when we asked for the check. Took about 5 minutes for us to receive the check. 5 minutes for the waitress to take the check. 10 minutes for her to swipe the card and bring it back to the table. There was also an issue of her overcharging some people at the table. It's a new location so it will take a while for them to perfect things, but waiting 20 minutes to pay the bill seems extreme even for a new location. This was my first time coming to Bonchon. I had the spicy fried rice and, of course, wings --half soy garlic and half spicy. The rice was perfectly spicy and firm, not mushy like it would be if it were over cooked. The wings were juicy and incredibly crispy. I preferred the soy garlic to the spicy as the soy garlic tasted more flavorful. I enjoy that the food was cooked to order and the clean, relaxed atmosphere. I good number of people grab their meals as takeout, but I enjoyed the quiet restaurant where I could hear my wife speak and enjoy the music. Ordered carry out at lunch a while ago when they first opened. Service was quick and friendly. The hot flavored chicken strips are crunchy, tasty, moist, large portion, with yummy hot hot sauce. You will get hooked!. The garlic chicken is good, but i keep going back to the heat of the hot sauce strips. I primarily go to the location in Ellicott City , close to work, awesome as well. This location is closer to home. The pickled radish opened my sinuses as well, but im not a fan of the fermented flavor, guess it came with the order, so will request another side next time. I'm leaning more toward Bon Chon , more than other chicken wing places. If you like hot buffalo flavor wings, or garlic chicken come here and try their chicken! This is my new favorite wing spot!!! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was awesome!!! Our server was just the right amount of attentive without being overwhelming. I got the bulgogi and my hubby got half and half wings, but we shared everything and it was all soooo good! We would definitely go back again.
