Spicy boneless, Korean tacos (bulgogi), mixed soy garlic wings and Korean bbq boneless
    Sopha D.

Located in a strip mall so parking isn't an issue. Lots of ads on the door front and inside which is a tad overwhelming since I couldn't focus on the actual menu. I find that tacky but I have OCD so that's a personal thing. Workers took my orders nice and easy. No complaints there. Brought our orders to the table which is nice considering it's a fast food kinda place. Spacious place, plenty of tables to eat in but nothing fancy. We had 3 orders from the lunch special. 2 of the boneless wings (spicy and Korean bbq) and mixed wings (soy garlic) The soy garlic will always be my fav. It's sweet and a bit tangy and I'll always feel like wings have so much more flavor. Def had a good batter mix. Sticky and messy as wings shall be! Also tried the Korean tacos (bulgogi) which the guys said was super tasty. The only complaint I had? After waiting 5-10 mins? They never brought out my drinks so we had to go ask for it and they had it sitting in the back. Place was empty so they def wasn't too busy with others. Simply forgot. Hmmm cool cool.... I guess? lol the Yuzi was nice and refreshing with bits of Yuzi mixed in. The mango bubble tea didn't taste overly sweet even with the popping strawberry balls. I'll come back and try the new flavor which I saw way too late cz the menu kept flicking every few seconds. Which was overwhelming as heck! It was aggravating my Tourette. Let's calm that baby down haha

Cheesy beef bulgogi rice was so so good. Super flavorful and memorable. Decent price around $13, would get again! Surprisingly the boneless chicken and fries weren't as good as others I've had before. Not as crunchy as I would've liked but still decent flavor. Fries were not the best at all, the beef bulgogi saved the day so much Service was super friendly though and gave small business vibes which was great. Decent sized dining area

Quick lunch spot with good chicken and sauce. The staff were friendly and attentive. There is seating for small groups for dine-in however I got takeout. They were quick with the food. The chicken was tender and the spicy sauce was surprisingly spicier and better then expected. The fries were good, not over-seasoned. If I wanted a quick chicken meal for lunch, I would come back for convinience.

Craving Korean fried chicken, I stopped by Bonchon in Hackensack and grabbed a 10-piece wings half-and-half--soy garlic and yangnyeom--plus sides of rice, coleslaw, and pickled radish. The soy garlic was a hit, so much so that my 1.5-year-old son polished them off himself (pretty sure that's the ultimate stamp of approval). The chicken was crispy, well-coated, and packed with flavor. The yangnyeom had that perfect sweet-and-spicy kick, while the soy garlic was savory and addictive. Rice was fluffy, the coleslaw was creamy and fresh, and the pickled radish was the perfect palate cleanser. It's in a plaza with plenty of parking, and picking up my order was easy. I didn't realize how big their menu is--definitely going back to try more dishes beyond the fried chicken they're famous for. Great takeout option and family-friendly flavors.

Good Korean fast food. Garlic soy wings are the stand out. The pork belly buns are also very good. They also have rice and noodles bowls. Service is quick.

This has to be the worst Bonchon we have ever been in terns of taste and freshness. I'm a big fan of Korean fried Chicken and just knew I had to give this place a try. Got the two lunch special combos and wings and drumsticks with their signature soy garlic sauce. The order was ready in less than twenty minutes. It was the taste that was the problem. The chicken was not fresh...and had some old chicken taste if you know what I mean. The skin was not crunchy like it should be and that sauce was awful. Salty!!! And none of that garlickyflavor like it should have. I honestly feel like I got scammed of my money. We never, ever throw out Korean fried chicken in our home, but had to throw away most of the chicken since it was just awful. I'm staying away from this place.

Got the lunch special combo 4 Wings and 2 drums . It was $11.xx with tax. Came with one side, and I went with rice. The chicken was very crunchy. The sauce wasn't bad either. It was most soy, I didn't get any garlic taste from it.

It's been forever since I last visited Bonchon. My partner and I stopped here on Sunday for lunch. It was not busy at all when we arrived. The girl at the desk was friendly, but the second staff could have been more professional when giving service. She didn't say anything rude but her demeanor was unpleasant. We ordered 3 meals. Some wings were smaller than I had before. I didn't feel 15 dollars for 10 wings was not a good deal. The Japchae portion was way too small for 15 dollars and barely any meat. The taste was good but the portion was disappointing. The takoyaki was good. My partner wished they were crisper. It's not a place we would visit often. Only when we're in a mood or they have a good deal

First time at this location. Staff was friendly and nice. I didn't have to wait long. I got the spicy wings which are spicy spicy so only get if you can handle it! Very crispy on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside just like how it should be. I got the strawberry bubble tea that was a perfect refreshing beverage for after the meal. Definitely recommend!

I love BonChon fried chicken, but they are definitely not all the same. I was so excited when I learned a BonChon would be opening so close to me. However, each time I've ordered food here it's been disappointing. Either the chicken is too dry and hard, not enough sauce, or something else. When I order Korean fried chicken, I'm expecting the crispiest double fried chicken with so much flavor. The last time I ordered their chicken strips they were super chewy and almost slimy. I couldn't even finish them because the consistency was grossing me out. The dumplings I ordered had no flavor. Just very disappointing overall. The food here is very inconsistent. The only thing I like about this location is that they do curbside pick up. Other than that I would rather just go drive a little further to the other BonChon locations or another Korean fried chicken spot in the area.

Signature Fried Chicken Wings - half soy garlic half spicy
    Ivette V.

Ordered takeout from here with my family. The wings are bomb! Beware- the spicy is pretty spicy so I recommend you order half soy garlic to alternate and not kill your tastebuds. Both are tasty! I love the Crispiness of the skin! Seasoned fries were also very tasty! Note: I ordered the octopus dumplings and although they sounded good when ordering I could not eat them. The fishy smell that came out of the container when I opened it really gave me nausea. You may be thinking- duh it's octopus! But this did not smell right. I did not take any chances and did not eat it. Everything else was really good! If you want wings and fries, order from here!

Bonchon Chicken is a South Korean-based international fried chicken restaurant franchise. According to the company, Bonchon is a Korean word meaning "My Hometown". They have their new location in Hackensack right behind the shops at Riverside mall in the same complex as Home Depot and Staples. Great lunch specials and super friendly. You can call or text your order in. Allow 15 minutes or so for them to fill your order because they prepare and cook the chicken fresh as the orders come in. Cheers

This is my second time here and I'm in LOVE! The soy garlic chicken is to die for. I have tasted their wings and steamed rice with chicken. They did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is clean. You can dine in or takeout. Would definitely recommend. PS...THEY HAVE A LUNCH MENUUUUUU

Finally got to try this place I heard so much about on a Christmas day with wife because it was…read morefrigid and we wanted a warm bowl of Korean "tang"(soup). Finding parking is quite challenging given the location on a busy commercial street, so make sure you can come earlier than meal time to have better luck. They have waiting seats OUTSIDE so yeah I suppose it's quite popular at times. 1. ATMOSPHERE (3/5) - This location is small and it's pretty straightforward place. But I still found it cozy, with decent amount of seating (I think it can handle 15-20 max) and little details like wall with wood ledges and coat hangers were a nice touch. Seating was comfortable, though we tied our down parkas around our waist as another party had hung theirs on our side of coat hangers. 2. FOOD (4/5) - We dove right in to try their famous gejang (~Korean raw crab "ceviche") and ordered two of their namesake gookbap (rice with soup) to see how they are. Here's how it went down. - Gejang (App, $20, 2/5) - I had a hunch that on a holiday perhaps I should not order this, but my craving for succulent crab flesh be damned, I went for it and unfortunately, the meat was not well-marinated as I had feared. Gejang is a dish that has to sit in the complex soy-based pickling liquid for some time... and if restaurant is too busy churning them out or if it's slow season they won't do this properly. It not only wasn't fully marinated, I think the marinade was off because the spiciness was way out of balance and was overpowering. Perhaps knowing that it didn't have enough time to marinade the kitchen put extra diced jalapenos to compensate? Because that's exactly what it tasted like - you can't fool me. I tried to salvage the dish by asking a confused-looking girl server for some sugar, but yeah, can't un-do the overpowered marinade with sprinkling of sugar. This was really unfortunate as I was looking forward to a good bite. - Ahjae Gookbap (Main, $18, 5/5) - Thankfully, their namesake gookbap was spot-on to salvage our dining. Generous slabs of succulent beef on the bone and off the bone was swimming in a hearty beef/bone broth that tasted clean and focused. Portion was good, and can I say their banchan of fish cake moochim & unfermented kimchi & ggakdugi(radish kimchi) simply ROCKS? That was some serious deliciousness and dare I say value at $18 at a day and age where hamburger costs over $10! You win at life by ordering this! 3. SERVICE (4/5) - Our server girl was attentive and food came out early on though later it was a bit hard to get her attention promptly. We found ourselves putting hands in the air, and wavin' like we don't care... for a little while. They provide gloves & metal bin for gejang which was a nice touch for people to keep their fingers clean. One thing I'd like to mention: Plastic cup they served water in was all chipped on the rim so we instead went and got water from their hot & cold water dispenser which had metal cups (as many korean restaurants do). I'd suggest them to replace all these old plastic cups with metal ones for health reasons. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal. I'd chock up the gejang mishap to it being a holiday. I hope chef was just off with the marinade that day because I am a certified gejang pro(I catch and make my own) and that balance ain't it. But I will give it another try during warmer month and we'll definitely be back to try sooyook moochim, oyster jeon & other great soup offerings.

Ordered three things: 1) marinated crabs, small size (5/5). Always a must-get here. 2) ddukbaegi bulgogi (4.5/5) - Thinly sliced prime marinated beef ribeye casserole with rice cake and glass noodle and mushroom served in a sizzling hot pot. Really flavorful and so good to have on a cold day. 3) ahjae ppyo jjim (4.5/5) - Braised prime beef meat bones in soy reduction with carrots, radish, dates, chestnut, rice cake and glass noodles. We got non-spicy. It came in a HUGE bowl. Definitely meant to be shared with a group. Took leftovers home and it was still yummy the next day mixed with knife-cut noodles I had at home.

Neither of us tried the Moon yet so we decided to check it out. I was able to easily make a reservation via Yelp for 6 people for 12:30 (4 adults + 2 toddlers). For the most part, we already knew what we wanted to order, so we placed an order for the BBQ items and hot pot meats first. Only the meats are the items you need to order. Everything else, you grab at the buffet - including seafood, fish balls, veggies, and noodles. The BBQ items are just okay, but that tends to be the case with you have hot pot + BBQ. The hot pot beef was good but the lamb was super gamey, which turned my broth into a gamey lamb flavor, making everything else I cooked in there have a trace of that too. Bottom line - skip the lamb. As for the buffet, they have a lot of options. Aside from the typical hot pot items, they also have some Korean dishes like kimbap, japchae, kimchi, as well as some fried items. I don't think I liked the Moon enough for a return trip. It's also slightly pricier than other hot pot + KBBQ spots, so I think I'll check out some of the other ones next time.
