I was craving Korean food the other week and my girlfriend suggested Bunsik Nara. I had never been so of course I was down to go. We went around 5:30PM so a pretty early dinner and there weren't too many other people eating. It did start to get busy when we were leaving though. The service was fairly quick and the place itself is clean and bright. I got the Chicken Mayo Dupbab, basically chicken katsu over rice. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was creamy and delicious. It all paired perfectly with the white rice it was served over. My girlfriend got the ribs with eggs and kimchi fried rice. That was really good too. The kimchi rice wasn't overwhelmingly kimchi-flavored and the ribs were super tender. We also split some cold buckwheat noodles. Those were pretty average to me, but I still enjoyed them. My only gripe is that Bunsik Nara is a little pricey. read more

If you're looking for affordable Korean comfort food with an upbeat vibe, this is the spot. The inside is spacious and has lots of seating. For neurodivergent folks, it is on brighter side with LED lighting and TVs along one of the walls (just a heads up!) I loved the kimchi and the salad panchan, I couldn't help but order more! Great palate cleansers. The gimbap was generous with their filling. The odeng was very warming to the soul and had a good amount of fishballs. The kimchi is excellent, and the lettuce salad and radish are delicious (and you can ask for refills). We always walk out full and have leftovers to take home. The restaurant is bright, spacious, and family-friendly (the muted TVs on the back wall keep the kids entertained). The menu was diverse, consisting of multiple pages ranging from Tteokbokki, Kimbap, and Tonkatsu to LA Galbi Combo. There is definitely something for everyone. I decided on the quick meal of Pork Tonkatsu (돈가스) which was hammered thin, making it larger and thinner to maximize the meat and crispiness. Complimentary Banchan consisting of kimchi, pickled radishes, and salad began the meal. The food was bold, complex, and delicious, using a range of spices, herbs, and other fresh ingredients. The special sauce luckily came separately to avoid being soggy. As is common in many other Asian countries, a bowl of rice is of central importance and anchors the entire meal. Good portion, lots of pork but could have used more tofu. Flavorful broth which had a hint of tomato, which I don't think is common. I wish the banchan options were better too. Only came with decent kimchi, salad and picked turnip which I hated because it had cinnamon in it - I don't think it paired well at all and have never seen it at any other korean restaurant. I came here with my football team to my bachelorette celebration. It was my first time here. My first impression was how brightly lit the place was inside. They were already prepared for us when we arrived, with three tables pushed together. I ordered the seafood jjambbong since I was in the mood for something hot and soupy. The bowel was big! The establishment was bright with light shade, some real plants and fake ones around, and the crisp look between white walls and wood look. Spacious, some tvs in the back set at no volume. The bed the shrimp laid on, I thought was fried noodles tasted like potato straws and with chili sauce was really good. I originally went in going to order the tofu stew as I needed something soft after a dental procedure but when I saw the Gamjatang (Pork Back Bone Soup) on the menu I had to try it. It was a delicious choice! The pork was falling off the bones and the soup was so flavorful. It was a special, but I hope it becomes a permanent menu item. We were in the area after visiting family and wanted an early dinner before heading home. We wanted to try the hotpot place in the area but the wait was 45-50 minutes. My sister found Bunsik and they had tables so we drove over. There's honestly so much on the menu that I had trouble narrowing down my choice. I love that they had all my favorite Korean homestyle dishes like jjajangmyeon and teokbokki. I ended up with the mandu and teok soup, which really hit the spot. We also split an order of kimbap and it was a really big portion. I ended up taking more than half of it home for the next day. Despite arriving pre rush hour and with only a few tables occupied, our order was mishandled, resulting in a significant delay in receiving our food. Restaurant is a standalone restaurant across from the H-Mart. It is not inside the H-Mart. It's a casual restaurant with TVs along the wall that the kids won't be able to take their eyes off of. Food came out quickly but service was a bit slow. Food is overall good and portions are HUGE! They have a variety of options from kimbap to tonkatsu to kalguksu (noodle soup) to galbi tang to bbq. We ordered way too much food. We got combo C (boneless chicken, spaghetti and fried rice), and that probably could have fed our entire family of four alone. We also got a galbi tang and a kalguksu, both of which were tasty but each can be shared between two people. We are going to have leftovers for awhile.... The one major disappointment was the kimbap. Both the tteokbokki and tempura were delicious. A recommendation I'd make is to add more seafood tempura pieces, instead of vegetables. In addition, I wish they added a dipping sauce to go with the tempura. Overall rate 8/10. 2. Cheese Tonkatsu: This dish was also a great deal in terms of its fair price and large portion size. The chicken cutlet was nice and crispy, and had a great amount of melted cheese. The sauce that was paired with it was interesting since it had a marinara like flavor. The couple of times I've been here, food and service has been exceptional! There are three TVs along the back wall of the restaurant, each playing something different and one of them being a kids cartoon (SO smart) for families with young children. The restaurant is clean and service was quick- even if they only had a few waitstaff. They definitely hustled when they all needed to. I can't say enough food things about the food. The menu options are extensive, offering all kinds of dishes that cater to everyone. Although the menu has many Korean dishes, there are also dishes that cater to those who'd prefer something less spicy or more American, like pasta. I brought six Turkish guests to try Korean food. Not only was this their first Korean food experience, for some this was the first time trying a cuisine other than Turkish! My family is a fan of Bunsik Nara's Palisades Park location so we decided to give Bunsik Nara's new location in Little Ferry a try. After a recent take out experience, we felt that nothing was "plus" about the new location. We picked up an order of Combo A (with the cream pasta) and squid rice for take out. The serving of Combo A, which is supposed to be enough for 2-3 people to share, was barely enough for two people. (As you can see from the photo, there is a lot of empty space in the container.) We have gotten Combo A multiple times from the Palisades Park location previously, and in comparison, we felt that there were way fewer donkatsu pieces from the Little Ferry location. We also did not receive the side salad with ginger dressing that accompanies Combo A, and we were further disappointed due to the Hamburg Steak being overly salty. Fortunately, the squid rice was not salty but did lack some depth to the flavor. We won't be returning to the Bunsik Nara Plus any time soon as $28.99 (not including any tax or tip) for a disappointing Combo A is not something that I want to be spending my money on in the future. read more

There's lots of space and has a welcoming vibe. The food is pretty solid here. No huge complaints or differences with the Pal Park location. I struggled between 2 or 3 stars, but I settled on 2 cause of the sticker shock with the prices here, which are pretty high, along with the poor customer experience I had last time I came to pick up food here. A typical entree here will run you $15-20, which is pretty expensive for basic Korean "street food". But honestly, I've never had a bad dish here. Their food all tastes pretty good and fresh, which is all you can ask for from this type of restaurant. While some of the staff is extremely pleasant and amazing, there are 1-2 who just ruin the reputation all together. Last time I ordered pickup, I got there and my food wasn't ready, which is fine. I was standing around near the register and one employee yelled at me to move out of the way and sit at a table, which I did. 5 minutes later, the same employee yelled at me to get up because they needed the table. This place caught my eye a few weeks ago, and I knew I had to try it. Pictured below, my friends and I got the Curry Tonkatsu ($20.99), the Cheese Tteokbokki ($16.99), an order of Spicy Tuna Sesame Leaf Roll ($10), and lastly the Korean style grilled beef ribs and Seafood Soft Tofu stew ($32.00 - not pictured). First of all, the service was fast and stellar. Just a warning: I order the Tteokbokki and Leaf Roll for an "appetizer", but by themselves are quite filling and delicious. By the time the main courses came out, we were satisfied....but they looked to good to pass up! The service was immaculate, the food was fresh and the quality was amazing. My go to fast casual korean food restaurant! Some of the well-known korean classics are here, and the service is always fast. On this trip, we were here for a quick dinner meal and an hmart shopping trip. We got the Combo Set D, which gives you tonssss of chicken if you are looking for good bang for your buck. The taste is more reminiscent of a home fried chicken, as it is clearly cut up chicken cutlets dredged in some of their batter. They have this sort of aioli dipping sauce along with it, as well as a scallion salad that was an amazing pairing. We also got the jajang fried rice, which had a pretty plain tasting fried rice, but allowed for the jajang to not be too overly salty. The squid and pork stir fry was also great, which an addicting savory sauce accompaniment. To round out the meal, we also had the spicy beef soup which was probably the BEST yukgaejang I had at a fast casual place. Overall, the price is not cheap, but worth the large portions it comes with it. Parking is also ample in the shopping complex, and they have relative clean restrooms. With the cute modern interior as well, its good for casual meetup with friends, a quick family dinner, or just a place to pick up some takeout on your way home. Sprung from the original Bunsiknara in Palisades Park, it is an upscale (with a suffix of 'Plus') Korean Bunsik Restaurant; although the term 'bunsik' would not go well with 'high end', it deserves to be called as such, with an unusual view to Indian Lake Pond, high ceiling, biophilia interiors, and array of seating for small & large groups. Servers were very kind, professional, and cognizant of hygiene (wearing the same aprons and masks). Padak set(Fried boneless chicken with scallions, Cream pasta and fried rice) was more than enough for one person, chickens were well tenderized and fried rice was very good- similar to ones served in Korean Chinese restaurants. 5+. Odengtang was good but not boiled long enough (seasoned soup-based, made of expensive fish cakes, as opposed to ones sold at street markets which usually cooked for a half day with lots of radish and scallions). 4+. The pork in Donkatsu was too thick and not fully marinated to me, and its fried skin peeled off even before I dunked into sauce. The sauce itself was great and served twice without getting charged. 3+. Teokbokki was a lot and in sweet spot between not too mild and not too hot. 5+. I would recommend the Plus, for small and large gatherings, specifically for a couple who wants to enjoy Korean Bunsik with a nice view to a pond, convenient parking, and unusual vibe. read more
