It's been a minute since I've let myself indulge in Korean fried chicken, but I've been hearing about Peck Peck since I moved to the area. Every time someone sang its praises, I had to wonder, 'Really? The best fried chicken comes out of THAT space?' Because every time I passed by it, it looked quiet or closed or both. But don't let appearances fool you. It's very, very good. To get straight to it, the wings are the way to go here. I ordered both the wings and the boneless tenders to give this place the old college try, and while the tenders are impressive in size and heft (and I personally like them because I don't have to work around a bone), I found the wings to be far more tender and flavorful. I also found that the tenders were far quicker to lose their fried crunchification. I also tried both the soy garlic and sweet and spicy flavors, and both are incredible. If you put a gun to my head and made me choose one, I'd have to pick the soy garlic, but I love the way these sauces aren't lathered onto each piece. There's just enough brushed on so that you can appreciate both the flavor and the texture of the chicken. The fries here are the wedge type. Think KFC, but fresher and less salty. Also, don't sleep on the pickled veg. I know it sounds nuts to buy pickled veggies from a fried chicken place, but it's a staple for classic Korean fried chicken dinners to cleanse the greasy palate with something acidic. I love the medley of veg they use here, and I loved the pickling juice so much, I actually found myself sipping it between bites (don't judge me). There's a small parking lot on the side of the building that might accommodate three or four cars at most. And that might be by design, because three or four parties is probably the most that could dine in this tiny restaurant. But as many have already shared, the owners here are so sweet and friendly, it's a gift to spend any amount of time with them, even in this teacup-sized dining room. Those who choose to takeout or deliver will be pleased to know that Peck Peck Chicken knows how to to package freshly fried things correctly - that is, with intentionally aerated containers so that you won't lose all that beautiful crisp as the food makes its way home. read more

This is a solid Korean fried chicken joint, if not exactly to my liking. I'd say the sweet and spicy sauce at Peck Peck is much closer to Bonchon than to the more traditional thick and chunky style I was expecting and hoing for. This is not necessarily to say that one is better than the other. But this does mean that I won't be able to get how I like my sweet and spicy at Peck Peck. To their credit though, I can think of several things to like about this family-owned and run local business. First, the interior is a humble hole in the wall with markings of hard work and barely enough space to seat 8 people. The menu is uncomplicated and easy to work out. Bryan (I couldn't help but overhear locals call him this) is a friendly guy who seemed to care if we had a good experience. The chicken? The batter is relatively thin and crispy and the sauce is brushed over, and yes, the chicken is freshly cooked and tender. The homemade slaw was the kind that I like - lean and crunchy with just the right amount of creaminess. They all had an even ratio of flats to drums. We tried all 3 flavors - soy garlic, sweet and spicy, and salt and pepper - all excellent and faultless. The soy garlic was the favorite, sweet and spicy was balanced/not too spicy, and salt and pepper perfectly seasoned. Wings were the perfect size, not wimpy, and fall off the bone tender. A small "hole in the wall" spot in Teaneck. Has a very small & awkward to use lot with like 4 spaces. You'll have to back out onto a busy street when leaving, or do about a 10 point turn to turn around in the back area of the lot, lol. There's 1 table, for dining in, & it's amongst supplies and such. Polite & as quick as can be, as all orders are made to go, & not just sitting around under a heat lamp. We had the Soy Garlic Wings, Salt & Pepper Wings, & the small Wing & Drum Stick, which is 3 wings & 2 large drumsticks. The flavor for that was Sweet & Spicy. came 1 time during covid, and came back recently. first off, the staff (brian + mom) are so cool. hes incredibly friendly and down to earth. everything moves quick inside, and make sure you get there 45 mins before they close because they will shut the doors & things do run out. make sure to check their site, because they give updates on their food and what available. during covid 1st time: they werent giving wings, but chicken tenders. they were good, liked the flavor, but i felt like i needed to come back and give another chance. i felt like they were just good tenders, but didnt live up to the hype. so i took that into consideration. also, we ate outside. 2nd time recently: wings ( spicy & garlic) also grabbed salt n pepper tenders. the pepper tenders were so good. theyre huge and light. not greasy. not too peppery. but they had a light fried batter to it, almost looked like fish. they were so different than the tenders i had in covid. wings were good. okay theyre huge. juicy. i really liked the spicy ones more. dont be scared, the spice isnt strong. the garlic ones were good, but they tasted so close to the spicy ones. fries were good. the forbidden rice is a must get. love the wassabi mayo - they make all sauces in house. also appreciate the pickled cabbage, just wish the pickled flavor was more intense. i think i need a 3rd time to really tie everything in because as you can see both times things were a bit inconsistent. however, i still enjoyed my wings and appreciated the flavor. looking forward to come back and appreciate the love and dedication the owners have. read more

When we went it was empty and we got a seat to sit & eat.. We ordered wings with soy garlic sauce and it was ok. It was a bit dry .. The options in the menu card was so less . I'm sure I have seen many more options with other Korean fried chicken places. We also had a salt pepper chicken drumsticks .. it was good sized chicken but was very bland . I thought salt pepper was a sauce but it was just regular salt with some pepper over the chicken. The best was chicken strip bowl with sweet and spicy sauce : it was reallyyyy good . The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, asking me my name, where I work, but not in a creepy way. The chicken is fantastic, I had the salt and pepper wings and those are huge and delicious! Decided to try this place after someone's video came up in my IG feed. Im glad I did, because it tastes great. All I got were some wings and fries but I will definitely be returning. Its a small place with probable seating for maybe 8-9 people but despite the size of the place I see why they gotten so many accolades for their wings. They werent overly fried or drenched with sauce. The soy garlic flavor was just right. I didnt get to try any of their sauces (not like the wings needed them) but I may give them a try next time. As a Culinology major student, never before have I tasted chicken so. crunchy. juicy. delicious. I've cooked numerous chicken strips in my 17 years of life but never more have i seen a technique quite like this. The standardized breading method can't be true here. Here, they use some sort of magic that I am too young to understand. Please, do not forget the side dish as well. The slaw they use.... wow It has to be scientific. It has to be studied because the sourness matched with the flavor pallet of the chicken AND purple rice. Who thinks of that? They think of that. When the bowl is finished, I feel distraught... no bittersweet. Eating the bowl, i felt such joy. It was like having a baby for the first time, graduating high school, then graduating college. This bowl brought me to all i ever needed. And as a 17 year old going into my senior year of high school, finishing the bowl brought me all the closure i needed.
