Hands-down one of my absolute favorite places to go when I'm craving authentic Korean comfort food. (I believe they also operate Busan Gukbap in Fort Lee with the exact same menu, which I also completely love!). If you are coming here, you are coming for the soups. My ultimate go-to is the Dwaeji Gukbap (pork in ox bone soup). The broth is deeply flavorful, rich, and incredibly comforting. I also highly recommend their Soondae Guk (blood sausage in ox bone soup) and the classic Seolleongtang (ox bone soup). You really can't go wrong with any of their traditional broths. The service is fantastic, fast and always friendly. Prices have gone up a bit, but they now offer a discount if you pay in cash, so it's definitely worth bringing some bills with you. There's no lot and street parking in this area can be a little challenging though. read more

This authentic and homey Korean restaurant just hits the spot after a long day from their various stews. Our group of 8 stopped by and were taken care of right away. We got multiple trays of banchan with kimchi radish, cabbage, and bean sprouts. I do wish they had a few more banchan offerings, but it was still good as you get huge portions of food here. Half of our table shared the Gamjajungol ($41.19) and Jokbal ($31.92). Both of these were the perfect amount for four people with some leftovers too. The meat was all incredibly tender and flavorful. This is one of my favorite spots for gamjatang!! The location is perfect - right next to King Spa, so you can enjoy a hearty bowl of soup either before or after your relaxation time. My experience at this place was not good. I ordered the blood sausage, and it was a grey color and tasted like tofu. Their food is generally very salty. I think most of the food is made by some Spanish-speaking guys in the kitchen. I did not see any Koreans cooking inside the kitchen. We came around 7pm on a Saturday night, and we parked a few blocks away and the place wasn't too busy. There were a lot of takeout orders but didn't slow down our food. We got the soondae stew and the 설렁탕. Both were good and hit the spot for someone recovering from a cold. It comes with white rice, although I wonder if you could ask for brown or a different rice. My friends and I were craving soup on a cold day and decided to stop by To Sok Chon. It's in a more discrete spot so I wouldn't have ever imagined to stop by here, but I'm SO GLAD I DID. This restaurant was bustling on a Friday night and most tables were filled. We were seated immediately and given hot teas / waters within a minute as well as the menus. Their menu wasn't too large which actually was a good thing. I ordered the kimchijiggae and jokbal to share with my friends. Both were absolutely delicious. The Jokbal had the perfect balance of sweetness and when eaten with the sauce and kimchi, really hit the spot! My kimchijiggae was also delicious. It had a decent amount of pork and it was exactly what I needed for a cold day. Our food came out super fast, even though our party was on the larger side. A simple spot for classic homestyle/comfort dishes that seems to be popular with locals. Interior decor is pretty basic but it is an open space with lots of tables. Staff is polite and attentive, and the man who I presume to be either a manager or owner prefaced our order by saying that since they have a lot of to-go orders, our food might take a little longer to come out. He said it would be 15-20 minutes. Since that's basically the normal wait time at other restaurants, I can only imagine that when they don't have to-go orders backed up, their service is really fast! Dishes come in large portions. Yangji seolleongtang broth was very light and soothing, with lots of meat and a large serving of smooth noodles. Doenjang jjigae was a more rich and flavorful broth if you're looking for something that's not as mild in taste. Stir fried pork came in a huge portion and the flavor and texture were very tasty and satisfying, although it was a bit on the oily side. The combo is a pretty good deal and you could probably order one combo to share between two people, especially since it comes with two bowls of rice. read more

I've been here several times. So you can tell the food is worth a bookmark. The place is simple but hums with serious diners enjoying the delicious soup offerings. I had the cold noodles for the first time and it was so wonderful. Menu said 40 minutes to prepare but it came to the table in 15-20 minutes. Their bulgogi and jokbal are winners as well and the mackarel so delicious. We left as content diners. Parking is a challenge depending on the hour of day. read more

The perfect place to go if you're craving Korean soup/rice (국밥). Their menu has enough variety but isn't so large that it's overwhelming. If (and only if...) you have a high spice tolerance, I recommend the gamjatang (spicy potato and pork stew). So good but VERY spicy!!!! I also liked their soondae (blood sausage), which you can get as a dish to share with others or in the form of a stew with rice. Their kimchi tastes pretty good too, which I can't say for all restaurants. Service and price are average, can't complain. I usually get gamjatang when I come here and it's the best - tonight when I came with my partner at 7:30, unfortunately they were out of gamjatang and 3 other soups. I guess I should've come earlier on a rainy day. I had kimchi jjigae and yangji seollongtang which were pretty good as well, but nothing beats the gamjatang! Also had the sooyuk for the first time here and it was good. I did think I've had better sooyuk at Sa Rit Gol but the soup is better here. In terms of ambiance, it's very casual inside and it gets busy on colder days during rush hour. Unfortunately, service was not the best. The main workers were Korean and usually responsive, but they are nicer to those who speak Korean. I was also a little disappointed I couldn't pack the kimchi to go, and instead that would go to the trash. The worker helped pack my leftover pork meat and threw out all the seasoned scallions that came with the dish as well, which is honestly my favorite part of the dish. We had saved a bit for the leftover pork to go. :( Overall I recommend this place for the soups -- the food is definitely good and authentic. Service is a hit or miss though. To Sok Chon was a wonderful find in Palisades Park! After seeing pictures of the hot soups served in stone bowls, I knew I had to visit once the weather started getting cold. I tried the kimchi jjigae, which was amazing! It was not too spicy (I did start sniffling a bit which I welcomed), and had a full, tomato-y taste. The broth was full of kimchi, pork, tofu, and vegetables, which along with the serving of rice was incredibly filling for both my meal at the restaurant and the leftovers I had for home. The side dishes they brought us were great as well! The waiter was pleasant and attentive, and the prices were very fair. You order at the register first and then sit at a table. They will bring it out to the table. They were quick and efficient but lack any warmth or genuine interaction. It felt akin to an assembly line. Some will like this method but I'm not sure if this is the best business model. The place lacked warmth and had an open feel to it like a sauna bath house. This was my very first time visiting New Jersey AND this was the restaurant my sister who lives in New York took me when I told her I'm craving for some good decent hearty Korean food, and hands down this is one of the best Korean restaurant I've ever been to outside of Korea!!! Price is very decent too!!! Considering how everything went up like crazy these days... Service was quick and the owner was very friendly. They have quite limited seats but if you avoid the busy hours I think you can easily sit down and enjoy your meal. One thing to note is that they mainly serve the authentic Korean food which not everyone would be a big fan of. My partner is a New Zealander and he likes beef soup so he ordered Seoleongtang but if you're thinking of Korean bbq or fried chicken when it comes to K food you might want to do some research before you head down here. read more

So in my journey to prepare for the winter I was lucky to try To Sok Chon because it is without a second thought the best kimchi jjigae I've ever had. I knew I was in for a treat when the side dishes were brought and I tried a piece of the kimchi. It was packed with flavor, the perfect amount of spice, and lacked any sharp or overwhelming flavors. So when the kimchi jjigae came out bubbling and I took that first sip, it was bliss. It had a more rounded out flavor than other iterations of this dish I've had. I was able to keep going back without a need to stopping. I cleaned out the entire bowl and was wholly satisfied. I will definitely return during the winter season. Couldn't ask for more. read more
